Odd to see Kareem Abdul-Jabbar identified only as "columnist".

And Seth MacFarlane as a singer.  (I know he sings, but it's not what he's primarily known for.)

Actor Anthony Mackie; actors Garcelle Beauvais, Ty Hodges and Ryan Destiny.

I have no idea who any of these people are.

Me neither.  Actors, apparently -- "Ryan Destiny" sounds like a name for a porn star.

And Tony Award winner Nathan Lane is an author.   Who writes these things up? The same people who create the blue cards?

Actually, that would explain why this show stinks so badly.  Because, idiots.

I think they are just pulling people in off the street at this point.

I just had to look these actors up because the only name I recognized is Garcelle Beauvais.

Anthony Mackie has been in Hurt Locker, The Avengers, Captain America and a ton of other movies.

The others are coming on to promote the movie A Girl Like Grace. Raven is also in this movie, so expect a Raven-centric discussion.

Even the so-called "stars" cast off of DWTS are embarrassed to come on the show. It's pretty bad when it appears that Paula Deen may hurt her reputation by appearing on The Spew.

So Paula Deen got kicked off DWTS and didn't show up?  I thought maybe I fast-forwarded through her or got mad and deleted the show off my DVR and missed her (that's how I missed Ree Drummond, darn it).  I thought you HAD to show up.  Or is Paula Deen just so unpopular they gave her a pass?

I think how a guest is listed (singer, author, etc) has to do with what they are promoting.

It's just odd to see Kareem Abdul Jabbar listed as a columnist with no mention of him being a basketball legend.  Considering the dimwits who run this show, it would not be a total surprise to learn they didn't know he had ever been an athlete.

Extra points for knowing what I still think of as his "real" name, i.e., the name he was born with & used at the beginning of his outstanding career.  If Joy Behar were the one to interview him, I'd bet anything that she'd ask him:  "May I call you Lew?".  She & he & I are all about the same age -- those were the days!

did Gary Busey show up?  Im thinking not, because he is pretty  out of control.   I KNOW someone would have mentioned it on this forum.

Seems to me, in past seasons, the voted-off dancers ALWAYS showed up. This season, not so much.  I recall ONE couple, have there been more?

I thought Paula was slightly inebriated when she was on DWTS - anyone else think that?

She acted pretty loopy, but I don't know if she'd be able to dance if she were drunk.

I think she's just a crass person who is sex-obsessed with poor judgement and no ability to control her behavior.

OMG - Paula. I was on a trip to Savannah with 2 friends the year she was to get her show and her restaurant was rated very well so we went for luch. She was there and looked terrific, actually elegant - with a page boy-ish hair cut with gray in her hair. My 2 friends bought her cookbook and graciously she autographed them. I didn't because I didn't really think the food outstanding (we had the buffet).

Anyway, I enjoyed the first season or two of her show (in Elliott's house) and then she changed! Fame got to her and she became awful, imo. So full of herself. Then.....the lawsuit. I read the depositions. All settled out of court. I thought it was all so crude, and especially her antics at that very popular South Beach Wine and Food Fest when her pants fell off. Thankfully she was wearing granny panties but, imo it was all planned since that was practically the first thing she talked about.

Plus her constant chatter about (meat)BALLS and beating the meat. UGH!

The all knowing whoop thought she was in Ontario. Lol too funny.

I am originally from Moncton, NEW BRUNSWICK, not Ontario & felt that Whoopie proved that most Americans know absolutely no geography past their borders ......

This is giving Americans too much credit for knowing geography within our borders.

Too bad, I thought we’d have a Whoopi-free day at least.

Paula was really sweet with her family; all three of her children have her face. As far as the fair and balanced nonsense—Whoopi was right that that’s why she is there. Nobody is trying to take away her right not to have an abortion (Whoopi completely failed at saying that properly). And what about last week’s panel of Sherri, Candace, and Paula? Was that “fair and balanced”? Hell no.

They actually had a really great interview with Sanders. He was correct that the "fringe" has become the norm for Republican candidates these days.

Out of the 17 candidates for the GOP, five of them are Tea Party candidates essentially (three of them politicians two of them not) and of the three politicians, all three of them have only had major offices since 2010.  (Walker, Cruz and Rubio.)  All you have to do is look at the crazy polling to see that somehow - this country has been dragged so far to the right it's mind-boggling.

I'll give Whoopi credit all day everyday (and y'all know how I feel about her generally) on the topic of reproductive rights.  Mostly old white men of privilege need to stay the heck out of a woman's choices about her own body.

May I add, Nexiteration, ...."woman's choices about her own body" AND her future well-being.

Bernie Sanders was great.  Sometimes I still can't believe that we (the collective "we") are still talking about reproductive rights and freedom of choice.  I just don't understand why anyone cares what another person does with their own body.   They don't want to be told to examine the careless/crazy gun access, but want to control a strangers body.  Someone recently sent this to me:

"How about we treat every young man who wants to buy a gun like every woman who wants to get an abortion — mandatory 48-hr waiting period, parental permission, a note from his doctor proving he understands what he's about to do, a video he has to watch about the effects of gun violence, an ultrasound wand up the ass (just because). Let's close down all but one gun shop in every state and make him travel hundreds of miles, take time off work, and stay overnight in a strange town to get a gun. Make him walk through a gauntlet of people holding photos of loved ones who were shot to death, people who call him a murderer and beg him not to buy a gun.
It makes more sense to do this with young men and guns than with women and health care, right? I mean, no woman getting an abortion has killed a room full of people in seconds, right?"

My philosophy has always been, if you agree with me, fine, if not, STFU.

LOL I think everybody's a little like this, if we're honest. I try to listen as long as the other person doesn't scream, act obnoxious, or make huge jumps in logic. At that point, my ears clamp shut.

OMG you HAVE to send this idea to a national campaign because it is that profound; and really hits home.

And I say this as a pro-choice gun owner.

THIS IS A POWERFUL MESSAGE.

It is awesome and should not just stay here on this forum but go GLOBAL and viral and whatever the buzz words are that are applicable. Where do we start ? because I am in.

I am highly doubtful that Whoopi maintains her own Facebook page; she's probably never even looked at it.   That's not to say she would know the difference between NB and Ontario though, just that her assistant didn't either.  I wonder who drives the bus?

Thanks MC.  Yep, she's loaded and yep she doesn't know she was in NB versus Ontario.   I just meant that not only didn't Whoopi know the difference between NB and Ontario, the assistant who probably posted this and maintains her page doesn't either.

Sorry Cosmo -- totally missed your point about her assistant.  (Too soon old -- too late smart.)

I can't say this enough.  Whoopi is such a bitch.  I'm so tired of her grouchy ass pointing and wagging her finger in people's face when she doesn't agree.

Please, please, please, write to ABC and say so. I do every time someone on this show gets on my last nerve (and I'm known as a pretty nonjudgmental, easygoing person in real life). It is absurd for her to pull the point-my-finger and shut-up-your-face act anywhere on network TV, but especially on a show called "The View."

If you go to the ABC website, and go through a bunch of pull-down menus, you can find the "comment on this show" section. Only 200 characters or so, so choose your words wisely.

Not only that, today she said she was across from St. John's Island (in Moncton Ontario).

I guess she meant Saint John, New Brunswick, which is not an island, but a city on the coast and has a have a ferry. Or maybe Prince Edward Island, which is near Moncton.  Here's a map for anyone interested:

Just watched it today since I had the day off and immediately turned it off when Whoopi was wagging her finger at Paula. I get they have opposing views and I'm all for discussions, but the way Whoopi went about it was incredibly disrespectful and demeaning. That's not how to have a civil discussion with someone. I did appreciate Joy being calm and explaining the table's view to Paula, but then Whoopi went crazy again.

  • Love 7

I dunno. Paula deserved the finger wag because she was not hearing what Whoopi and Joy were saying--you are entitled to your opinion but don't tell me what to do with my own body. They were not dismissing her pro life stance but she was too defensive about it.

Paula was not listening. I wish someone would ask these people how they would feel if they were forced to terminate a pregnancy against their will. The concept of Her body her choice would then become perfectly clear. One can only hope.

I think Paula's treading close to yapping I don't listen bitty territory

perhaps if Paula and her ilk could take a few dozen of these unwanted neglected children into their homes that would eliminate the pressure some of these women feel. Never ceases to amaze me how important these babies are until they're born. Then it's ' see ya Good luck you're on your own '

Loved. Bernie
