Surely they could have found a better way to hide Emme's pregnancy.

The Charlotte and Lulu matching dresses and Charlotte running to Lulu to hug her and running to tell Lulu/Dante about being allowed into the magic act was adorable, but God, at least half of this episode was spent talking about Morgan and his damned pills!

Were the red carpet interviews supposed to be that awkward?

It is so funny that for years when SB was Jason, I didn't even know that Sam had big boobs.

Lulu looked like a float.

Bobby, as always. keeping hospital confidentiality.

Who were the random extras that were interviewed?

Why wasn't Liz in the nurses number?

I want to give the show the benefit of the doubt that Robin didn't attend the Nurses' Ball because of Kimberly McCullough's real-life pregnancy (i.e. the ball's longer shooting schedule wasn't something she was up for maybe), but then why bring Robin to town at all?  Why not just say she was too close to the end of her pregnancy to fly and leave it at that?  Emma could have still come without her to bust Alex and attend the ball.  Weird.

And then twisting the knife by keeping Mac off-screen to watch over her/not showing adorable Mac/Robin scenes?  Mean.

And speaking of knife twisting, Scotty giving Lucy flowers from him AND Serena made me smile for a second, but then I just got irritated that Serena is not allowed within the city limits.  It so bullshit-y.

No Brad.  No Lucas.  No Monica.  No Laura or Kevin.  No Chris or Andy.  Felix and Piph don't get to have dates.  The only on-screen Quartermaine (never mind the Quartermaines OWN THE FUCKING HOSPITAL) is Michael, doing his usual Sonny/Carly talk-to thing.

Too much Sonny, too much talking about Morgan.

Sartorial observations: loved Sam's dress but not her accessories, Anna looked stunning, Emma, Charlotte, and Joss looked very pretty and age appropriate, Nina looked like a mermaid who washed up in an oil slick, and poor Lulu looked like an overstuffed throw pillow. Was that really the best way they could disguise Emme Rylan's pregnancy?

"Nelle's in the hospital? Please tell me it isn't her kidney." Because she only has ONE. One. Kidney.

Emma continues her streak of being the smartest person in town, immediately questioning the origins of the magic kit. Someone should toss her Morgan's diary and pill bottle so we can finally resolve this shit.

That opening number had far too many extreme closeups and wacky lighting, but they sure sold it with enthusiasm.

agreed with all of that.  Other then that I thought all the other dressed kind of blah.

LW 's dress was kind of blah style-wise. The color was fantastic on her, though. She looked great.

Did Ava wear that dress last year? It looks very familiar. (Or maybe I've just seen something similar on someone else at some other time.)

All the young girls looked very pretty.

LuLu looked like a life-sized toilet paper doll.   Ridiculous.  They should have dispensed with her Red Carpet stroll and just plopped her down behind the biggest potted plant they could find.

I think Lulu's dress is hilarious. And then they compound it by having her sit in front of the table instead of sitting behind it so that she looked like a big party decoration..

I liked Sam's dress but her necklace was a couple of inches too long. It was like a direct arrow to her boobs.  Carly's dress was okay for going out to dinner but not a nurse's ball.  Ava's and Scott's matching black-and-white outfits looked good together.

Amy 2.0's voice was so autotuned it was distracting.  I wondered by Liz wasn't in the nurses' act.  And I'm the last person to fat-shame because I need to lose pounds myself but having Epiphany, Amy 2.0 and Young Black Nurse Whose Name I Don't Know all standing together in front of the elevator and at the desk all together looked strange.  They should have had Felix at least to break things up.

I never liked Sabrina that much, but it is flat out ridiculous that nobody is paying tribute to her, not the nurses in their opening number, not Lucy so far, no memories from Epiphany or Felix and nothing from Michael.

Robin no show? Fuck you GH. You had her show up for Anna/Alex but didn't film ahead and do a NB speech?

And do not make me LAUGH at Carly's assertion that Sonny cares very much about HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. This fucker wouldn't know what to do with a condom if someone put it on his doughboy for him. He does not practice safe sex AT ALL. So shut up Carly.

For God's sake Michael, get a damned life already, you're closing in on 30 and still wringing your hands about Mommy and Daddy getting back together again.

Anna just happens to drop the Chimera necklace? Jason just happens to find it? Sonny just happens to take a knee deep interest in Morgan's journal and pill bottle and finds something odd?  Am I supposed to be impressed with Dante being sidelined again so his douche of a father gets to solve the big Morgan mystery. Am I supposed to be happy that Jason is getting to take over in the Chimera story when, once again, there seems to be no place for Liz?

Make this stupid show suffer, ratings.

Amy 2.0's dress is terrific. I wish they'd done something different with her hair. Sam's makeup doesn't really go with her dress.

I can't stop laughing at ER's dress. It's SO enormous.

André, why didn't you tell Sonny you were busy? You are not at his beck and call. Ugh.

How did Mario Lopez get roped into hosting duties? I know he's a fine host, but he did look like he was thinking about bolting in a few shots.

Look, Show,  l requested less blathering about Morgan, but you are giving me MORE. What have I (and a good number of your viewers) done to deserve this torture?

I'd forgotten all about Robin's connection to Stone and the Nurses' Ball.   It would be nice if the show remembered it too and Emma gave a small speech about her mother and the Ball's history.

There was a study in Europe that found that with the right medication, people who are HIV positive can live as long as those who don't have HIV.  It would be nice if the show could mention that too.

Anyone watch Better Call Saul?  Lesson:  If you are going to switch someone's pills out you have to switch them back as soon as possible in case someone decides to look into it.  Not that Ava in her wildest dreams would think that Sonny would be able to figure it out but still....

Yes, but those pills have been poured out and put back in like ten times since CarSon got them back. They've counted them a bunch of times to figure out that it matched the number he wrote in his journal.   Not to mention that Ava took the originals pills out and replaced them and Scott took Ava's out and replaced them.   the bottle would have residue from the original pills, Ava's pills and now Scott's pills.   I don't believe there would be enough specific residue from Ava's pills still in the bottle, enough for Sonny to notice a difference, be able to taste the difference and still have some for Andre to test.  That's what I call far fetched.

I think the mayor needs to fire the entire PCPD and put Emma in charge because that girl is smart as a whip.  Figures out in under ten seconds that Grandma isn't grandma.  Then today, Jake says Spencer sent him the magic box and Emma's all, "are you sure because I just talked to Spencer and he hadn't sent his gift to you yet and it wasn't a magic kit. "

Put that girl on this stupid Morgan pill case and she'll have it figured out by the end of the episode.

Maybe that was part of her new deal. She agreed to take 5 bucks and a bowl of cheese as salary as long as she didn't have to perform at the NB.

I loved Ava's whole look. I liked Carly's dress, but it didn't really look right on her imo. Sam's skin was a weird color and her jewelry was horrible.

My fave part of the episode was Lulu's dress.

That opening number was quite possibly one of the worst things I've ever seen on this show - and that's saying something.  Awful!  Whose bright idea was it to include Amy 2.0?  She's beyond awful.  Nothing compelling about her at all.  And I agree about Lulu's dress being all kinds of awful awesomeness!

Weren't there some randos last year from the sponsor? That might be who those folks were today. I'm sure they had some connection to Burt's Bees or were fan contest winners, maybe? Something like that.

Well, Day 1 of the Nurses' Ball lived down to expectations.

My highlight of the day:  Young sleuthing Emma.  Dispense with the rest of the so-called problem solvers in Port Charles and put Emma in charge!!!

And then there is Lulu's tragic dress.  Poor Em - I just hope she didn't like it.   I can't remember a dress at the Nurses Ball ever stirring up on so many comments.

Nik might have, but then again, we did hear him whining on and on about how ELQ was his only worthwhile asset and he was forced to sign that back to the Q's.  And then he signed all the Cassadine stuff over to Valentin.

Also, I assumed Laura is paying for the boarding school, possibly with the proceeds of selling Wyndemere.  But I doubt she would let Spencer have unfettered access to money the way Nik would have.

Wow am I overthinking this.  Sorry, I will stop lol.

  • Unless Carly had to be dressed in that simple dinner dress for a later show number at the Nurses' ball, her outfit was disappointing. Couldn't she add some bling to it at least?
  • The show must be trolling Emme's pregnancy and punishing her with that enormous dress.
  • Amy's dress was imaginative and pretty, but she looked much slimmer in her nurse's outfit than in her ball gown--what's up with that?
  • Ava looked understated and dignified, but she deserves exotic and glamorous.
  • Somehow Wardrobe managed to make svelte Lucy look overweight in that initial red and white dress with the full skirt.
  • The children were beautifully dressed. Loved the colors.
  • I had a strong impulse to point Sam to the bra corner of the lingerie department. She needs more support inside her dress if she is going braless.
  • Monica and the other missing actors must have been cut to pay the extras and the red carpet host.

I think you're right.  They probably wanted limit KMc's work schedule, and the NB takes hours to tape, most of it sitting around in the audience.  However, it was stupid for the others to treat Robin like she was a child, incapable of sitting and resting without Mac as warden.   And they didn't want to pay JJY.

We're never going to be rid of that damn song, are we?

So pissed Chief of Staff Monica, Board Member Laura and Doctors Kevin, Lucas (who?) and Finn are not present.  Finn, not because I particularly like him, but he is on staff.  Add to that no Mac and no Robin and you have NOT-The Nurses-Ball 2017.  But of course the room is mobbed up, with a smattering of law enforcement and ex spies.

The whole episode made me cranky.  Well, except for Curtis.  He continues to be so fine. Sigh.

Ugh, me too.  Between Sonny, Ace Detective AND Pharmaceutical Expert, the presence of Mario Lopez, and some of the awful attire (Lulu's dress needed a laugh track to go along with it, Sam needed support and to lose the Claire's jewelry and Carly needed something to liven hers up), it was just blah.

With the last incarnation of Spencer, sure. Jake should be nothing to him. But if the show had properly written for Spencer, they should've been real cousins. Even if all the Webber boys aren't really related to Spencer via Laura, they should be close. Laura is a grandmother figure to all four kids. Nik and Liz have been close friends for decades. Spencer should've always called Liz his Aunt.

So yeah, I've hated how Spencer has been written. Cam is too old to have been Spencer's competition. That should be Jake.

I wish the show had the writers and producers to play out a new teen set. Cam and Joss should find out about their dead sibling and Carly's role. Add in Spencer's kidnapping by Carly and Jax for more fun. Add in a teen Christina Baldwin to be friends with them. She can research her adoption. Which can be mined from either the PC history or something completely different. Have her bond with Cam over his own quest to find out about his biological father and family.

It definitely felt like they were trying to replace Cam with Jake in the Spencer/Emma group, that he was the one that was part of it all along, never mind all the horrible little kid triangle stuff we had to sit through.

And then you have Charlotte being treated like a close friend by both Jake and Emma, never mind that they barely know her, because she's replacing Joss.

It just feels very artificial.
