Very competitive and entertaining game - Derrick Henry is a beast and is very hard to stop on the Titans offense, but the Packers are playing a solid game, and Rodgers has 2 TD passes to Christian Watson, that’s 5 TD’s for Watson in the past 2 games. 20-17 Titans now.

I just caught a Twitter update — those here who are actually watching: apparently the home crowd was booing what they thought was a Titans’ player faking an injury to avoid the Packers’ hurry-up offense.

Any thoughts?

The injury did look somewhat suspect, who knows if he was injured or not, he’s back in the game now, the crowd was pissed because Rodgers was ready to snap the ball and then the guy went down.

Nice road win for the Titans, Tannehill played really well, threw for 333, the Packers went all in on stopping the rush and as a result got burned by the passing attack. Packers defense has been disappointing, Rodgers was disappointing as well, missed several open receivers late and he continues to underperform and have trouble communicating with his receivers. Packers are fading out of playoff contention and they go to Philly next, a very hard game.

For safety reasons (traveling, community resources), moving the game was a good idea.  Lake effect snow is no joke.  And we’re not talking a foot of snow here.  We’re talking up to six feet.  Plowing streets just so players & fans can get to a game is unrealistic.  There are more important things than a football game in the snow.

What I don’t get is why Detroit?  The Bills will have to play two games in a row in Detroit.  And the second isn’t a week away, but Thursday.  Are they going to stay in town?  Where do they practice?  Travel will still be an issue to Buffalo on Sunday night (when the Bills theoretically come home) or Monday.  Why not have it in Cleveland?  Detroit’s only abt five hours away from Cleveland, so you’re likely to see more Browns fans there.

Related, Vegas has cancelled all bets on the game.

You're kidding, right?  At least they can pretend Detroit is a neutral site.  No team would be willing to accept their scheduled home game becoming one for the other team.  Imagine if it were Bills/Cowboys - think it'd be OK if Jerry Jones "selflessly" offered to play the game in Dallas?

Aaron rodgers looks awful.  Two plays missed wide open throws in the 4th quarter alone. Lucky he didnt get a safety on the grounding call.  He can stop blaming  others for the offense.

Two games now I've tried to watch on Amazon and it's constant stop, buffering, play, stop, buffering...

Annoying. If nfl Sunday ticket moves online and is like this I'll be pissed.

Yet another game where it inexplicatly stops, I tell it to run the game live and it starts where it stopped.   So I am behind.   Since I am also reading twitter at the same time, it makes for deja vu all over again.   Amazon was not ready for the MASSIVE influx of people watching the game all at the same time.

Most likely they will stay in Michigan.   Either the Lions will offer their practice facility (with some schedule worked out so no one sees what the other team is doing) or some local school.    University of Michigan is not an unreasonable distance and might be willing to help out.   When something like this happens, the NFL and other teams step in to help out.   Sometimes it is planned.    West Coast teams if they have two East Coast games in a row will stay somewhere on the East Coast to avoid the travel back and forth.   But those are planned so they have a practice facility worked out ahead of time.   Greenbriar, VA is a favorite.   East Coast teams playing on the West Coast will sometimes do the same.

I think Detroit was the best option for the very reasons you mentioned. They probably would have went to Detroit Wednesday anyways.

The one Prime game I watched this year I watched through my Roku on my TV and it was fine.  I didn't watch the whole game though.  For all of you having problems is it just the TNF games that cause issues or are there issues with other things you watch on Prime?

Yet another example of the nfls attitude towards fans.

We can half ass this and doesn't natter if it works we will still make a ton of money.

There have been suggestions and rumors of peyton manning as next nfl commissioner. I would love that. But he has said he doesn't want the job snd I dont blame him .  What a shit show douche he'd have to follow and clean up after

Just TNF.   And I think its the reason I mentioned.   With other things on Prime, its asynchronous.   Even a popular movie only has so many people watching it at the same time because with streaming you can watch when it works for you.   With a live game, if you want to watch it live, you have to watch at a specific time.   Now there are plenty of folks who will record and watch it later so they can fast forward through the boring parts (i.e. most of these games this year).   But most will choose to watch it live.   Which is a lot of work for the streaming service.   Amazon just might not have realized that because it hasn't quite clicked asynchronous v. synchonous watching has different demands even if the numbers ultimately end up the same.

ETA:   Not a tech person.   Just basing this on what I have picked up here and there and from watching Twitter fall apart in the last 2 weeks.

No I'm sure you're right. This used to be a problem on Netflix all the time ....

Back when people watched Netflix and there was the release of a popular show.  I recall early seasons of House of cards (again before the show went totally down the craphole) it would happen all the time.

Annoying. If nfl Sunday ticket moves online and is like this I'll be pissed.

I stopped trying to watch games on Amazon after their "DVR" repeatedly refused to put me at the start of the game, and wouldn't let me preview FF to skip commercials.  So I've taken to recording the replay on NFLN, trying to stay unspoiled, and watching on Friday morning.  Just finished last night's game.

I will hate it if Amazon gets the contract for Sunday Ticket.  I have no love for DirecTV, but navigating the streaming Sunday Ticket (except, of course, for the times when the service goes completely out) is pretty much seamless.  Hit the right arrow on my Roku, pick another game from the menu, and it goes there.  Hit Home and Cable Box to switch to the games on cable, and then Home and Sunday Ticket to switch back.

I'm envisioning having to watch the cable games on the Cox app on my tablet while I try to get around the AP app on the Roku.

The vast majority of issues with buffering or other quality issues with streaming video are related to issues in our own home. VAST majority

It's usually solved by rebooting stuff like the modem, router, or streaming device. You sometimes need to clear the app, which may mean deleting and reinstalling the Amazon Prime app. If that last one is the cause of a lot of issues, the Amazon engineers need to make their app work better. I underline that statement, because it's my guess for why people are only seeing issues with Amazon and not other services, and it only happens when they're watching for like three straight hours. It reeks of a software issue. (I'll go on an on now about why it's unlikely to be a greater internet problem.)

The other big issue in home is the WiFi coverage. Some homes don't have good WiFi signal where they're streaming the games. Others have old, old, WiFi technology.  I'm running with a WiFi-6 mesh in my house now, and everything streams perfectly.

Also Amazon has provided this, which seems to have solved the issue for many people:

Quote

Note: If you're experiencing any issues with the video "juddering" or having excessive motion blur, we recommend turning the Motion setting on your TV to Off. This setting might have a different name depending on your TV manufacturer. Some examples of the Motion setting include Auto Motion Plus, Tru Motion, MotionFlow, Cinemotion, and Motion Picture.

The least likely reason that people are seeing buffering issues would be that Amazon can't handle the volume.  Netflix has a nice simple explanation of how streaming works here

Netflix (and Amazon) have servers all over the place where they connect directly to the internet. Most ISPs, especially larger ones, will secure a direct fiber connection to where those servers are located. So Amazon has a hub in Atlanta, and you're a Cox customer in northern Florida, Cox will make sure they have a clean fiber connection that connects their hub in Pensacola to the Amazon hub in Atlanta. It's unlikely that the buffering is caused by Amazon not streaming cleanly from its servers or the fiber connection between them and the ISPs. Unlikely, but not impossible.

From there, Cox delivers the signal from its Pensacola hub through fiber to the neighborhoods it serves, at which point the signal is converted at a node, and delivered through the regular coax cable to the homes.

What used to be a big problem for the ISPs when Netflix was growing in popularity faster than the ISPs could build out the infrastructure to handle the capacity, is that there were too many homes connected to a Node in their network. And when peak usage periods hit, like when Netflix dropped a big show, the local ISP network couldn't handle all of the traffic and lots of buffering was happening.

At this point, the engineering and the technology has caught up with the peak usage demands almost everywhere, so it's unlikely that high usage is a common problem for Amazon TNF users.

Having said that, FOR SURE it could be a problem for some of us, and shame on the ISP for not spending the money to fix the problem. Engineers at the ISP know damn well when they have a node that is frequently stressed during peak usage hours.

But you would see that problem every night, and not just on Amazon TNF.

I caught a little bit of Sirius NFL Radio earlier; they said the Bills will be going home after the game, then back to Detroit for Thursday's game, to try to make things as 'normal' as they can be. The Bills did opt to use the visiting locker room and side of the field, so it will be the same for both games.

If they can make it to Detroit for Sunday's game.  As of now they are still in Buffalo.

I know they were looking at leaving sometime Saturday. On Sirius, they were asking if they could fly out Sunday morning and move the game to later in the day, right now it is a 1pm scheduled start time.

That's the famed 'lake effect snow' coming off Lake Erie. It sucks a ton of moisture out of the lake and piles up quickly!

Baseball on Prime this season was the wooooooorst.  Couldn’t watch it.  Had to start and stop numerous times a game.  Worst part is that they were using the YES Network crew, so why the fuck couldn’t I just watch it on YES?

I don’t have issues with any other streaming service, or anything on Prime other than baseball and football.  Hell, when “Hamilton” dropped on Disney+ in July of 2020, I had not one problem, and we watched it several times that first day.  So in my absolutely non-techie opinion Amazon has equipment that can’t handle live volume.

I would not be surprised if we saw a Bills player escorted to the airport/stadium on a snowmobile. Not just because it is interesting footage, but because it is the most practical mode of transportation.

Because the Buffalo authorities have nothing better to do than make sure sportspeople make it to the airport for a game.

The Bills screwed this up beyond belief.   They couldn't even practice on Friday because players couldn't make it to the indoor practice facility.   But they believe the roads will be open enough to get to the airport today.    Honestly once they knew it was a chance the game should be moved, they should have been on stand by with everything ready to go on Thursday.   If the Bills can't make it safely to the airport today they should be forced to forfeit on account of poor planning.

It makes you wonder - if you polled the Buffalo citizenry about whether or not helping the snowbound or getting the Bills out is more important, how many would choose the Bills.

Obviously the circumstances aren't the same, but I remember when the Massachusetts state police escorted Doug Mirabelli to Fenway.  Good thing that was a day when all Bostonians were obeying the traffic laws.

That's like with the new Stadium their building.  1.2 billion or something like that to which it's coming all out of taxpayer money and the Pegulas aren't giving a dime to it.

I have a real problem with that.  Like how is that fair for people that dont like football?

It's not fair at all. Nfl gas literally billions of dollars and could build their own stafoums easily.

I live the nfl but the Era of taxpayer funded stadiums should end

Condoleezza Rice has said she'd love to be the NFL commish. I could get behind that!

I'll get into the stuff related to glorified stadiums happening off of taxpayers over those that have more money than taxpayers (combined) later.  There is a connection, I believe.  For example, Buffalo is super loyal to the team and has been forever.  When everyone is up against it, how loyal (and respectively) are they?  Who knows for sure as the team is still a Super Bowl contender, but in present time, I'd give the Buffalo community the benefit of the doubt:

As mentioned, Buffalo will be playing a Football game in Detroit

There was a tweet from CBS that featured several Buffalo fans/locals digging out the driveway of one of the members of the team.  And while Twitter might not be that valuable as of late, it came from an account that I've followed for quite awhile, not something that showed up (via other means) on my timeline

Time for Week 11 picks: Baltimore, Cleveland, Washington, Philadelphia, New England, New Orleans, New York, Denver, Dallas, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, San Francisco

And, of course, the odds

Giants 3
44.5 O/U
Giants barely cover, under

Bengals 3.5
40.5 O/U
Bengals cover, over

Cowboys 1.5
48.5 O/U
Cowboys cover, over

Chiefs 5.5
51.5 O/U
Chargers cover, over

Niners 8.5
43.5 O/U
Arizona & the points,  under

Road game for Detroit, GMEN are great this season.  Bengals coming off a bye, and while Pittsburgh did against a bad team off of a short week, they only scored 20 points.  Dallas & Minnesota are not easy to forecast.  AFC SNF showdown is the same story, but the 49ers are playing a team that sucks.  Though not that much, and it's division football

And did I mention that her husband is the vice president of the company that holds the concessions contract for the Bills current stadium?

It's early, but Indy still leads while New York took over the lead from Detroit.  A couple of things with these teams.  If Detroit can finish with a respectable mark, they might be onto something.  They'll get a decent 1st round pick since the Rams are not doing anything this year.

If Indianapolis knocks off Philadelphia AND they do okay, as mentioned, that, while a decent story given who's coaching, would lead to a mess.  It's a copycat league, so everyone else will emulate what the Colts did, except if they do, chances are it'll be a glorified mess

Falcons win!! Falcons win!! Nice win for us, we ran the ball pretty well once again, Mariota didn’t turn it over and played a clean game, we got the kickoff return TD from Patterson and the defense got some key stops.

Eagles escape against the Colts in Indy after trailing for most of the game.

Rams lose to the Saints and the disastrous season for the Rams keeps getting worse, holy fuck, they are just downright horrid this year, I know they lost some key guys and have been injury riddled but they should still be better than this.
