Discuss the cast (guest stars too) in roles outside of Supergirl.

----------------------

I'm not that familiar with many of the regular cast. Calista Flockhart and David Harewood are the two that I've seen the most of. I'd heard of Mehcad Brooks, but haven't really watched anything he's been in.

I recently found out that Chyler Leigh was in Taxi Brooklyn, in which I thought she was the worst part, so I hope she's much better here.

I'm sure he'll only have a few scenes (if that many!), but I'm looking forward to seeing Dean Cain.

I remember Chyler Leigh from the short lived show Reunion.

Calista Flockhart  from Ally McBeal.

Melissa Benoist from her topless scene in Homeland and from Glee

Mehcad Brooks as Eggs from True Blood and from Desperate Housewives

I don't know how much they will be in it, but Dean Cain and Helen Slater from their time in the super suit.

I obviously watch too much tv. :D

Of course I know of Calista from Ally McBeal, though I never really watched the show much.

But the whole reason I'm watching Supergirl is Jeremy Jordan. I've been a devout worshipper of his chiseled jawline and vocal cords of steel for about 4 years now. I've been to NYC twice to see him perform- saw him in Bonnie & Clyde on Broadway, and then last year I went to his solo cabaret show at 54 Below. I met him both times. And of course I watched Smash and the movies he's done, Joyful Noise and The Last 5 Years. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed to hear he was going to be in L.A. doing Supergirl because I was hoping he'd be back in another Broadway show soon. I think he's a good actor no matter what the medium, but his singing and presence on stage is really something amazing. He's incredibly charismatic in person. I don't think the magic comes across quite as well on TV as it does live (plus a role where he doesn't sing is tragic), but he seems excited to be doing the show, so I'm happy for him.

Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan Tatum Team for Dancing Competition Series at NBC :

The network has handed out a six-episode series pickup to an untitled Jenna Dewan Tatum dance show, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Details about the format are being kept under wraps but the hourlong series is described as a "fresh take" on the dance competition genre. Dewan Tatum will serve as a judge and mentor on the series, ....

David Harewood has a recurring supporting role in the AMC mini-series "The Night Manager," which premieres tonight (April 19th) in the USA. Though, based on the not infallible IMDb, it appears that his character does not show up until next week's episode (April 26th).  RadioTimes.com has a little background about his role (no real spoilers).

Laura Benanti kills it as Melania Trump.  Totally kills it.

NY Times: Laura Benanti on Her Transformation Into Melania Trump on Colbert’s ‘Late Show’

Remember, she did it live too (this week on LS has been all live).

She really should be asked to host Saturday Night Live someday.  This is the sort of thing that their writers live for!

Ah we all know thats not how SNL hosting works!  Its all about synergy and marketing tie-ins.

They'll have reoccurring guests on outside of that for reasons like this though. However I believe She Loves Me is done with its NY run (it closed July 10), so short of Benanti yet another Broadway show vs. more TV, I don't see how she'd be all that easily available.

Laura Benanti has just announced a very exciting new "role".  Great news for her!  http://www.broadway.com/buzz/185562/vanilla-ice-creamand-maybe-pickles-laura-benanti-husband-patrick-brown-are-expecting-their-first-child/

And Jeremy is going to reprise his role as Jack in Newsies the musical to be filmed soon and released in movie theaters next year! http://www.ew.com/article/2016/08/09/newsies-musical-movie-theaters-original-cast

Chris Wood is returning to The Vampire Diaries for an episode.

I gave up on TVD right around the time Chris Wood showed up as Kai, but I loved what I saw of him. He's such a good villain, I'd much rather have him as a season long Big Bad than a love interest.

I find it charismatic in both. Kai is fun as hell because it is impossible not to be interesting when you are charismatic but also an impredictable villain without remorse and powers and a childish / murderous behaviour. Mon-El's storyline is harder to sell and part of that is the writing (they decided to have an arc about what seemed to be a jerk to a full hero with a high-school love story in the middle)

I wonder whether this means that Snapper Carr is on the way out now if the pilot is picked up.

I (and everyone on the Supergirl Radio podcast I listen to) is anxiously waiting to see if Snapper Carr will ever actually snap his fingers.

"I...is anxiously waiting"?  Not to go all Grammar Nazi on you, but shouldn't that be "I...am anxiously waiting?" Parenthetical expressions are never considered part of the subject of a sentence.

Jeremy Jordan will be part of a 20/20 special on ABC this Friday:

ABC News’ newest episode of 20/20 will focus on what it calls “the secretive world of Christian camps” that are connected to anti-gay rhetoric and practices.

In an exclusive clip from the hour, which airs Friday night, the network’s Brian Ross sits down with Supergirl actor Jeremy Jordan about his very personal connection to such groups.

I only sporadically secondhand watch Agents of SHIELD, so I was surprised to see that Agent Vasquez (Briana Venskus) is also a SHIELD agent! I guess if the DEO can't have her, it's the next best thing. :)

She's been doing both since last season. People have been joking that she's either a Shield agent working undercover at the DEO or a DEO agent working undercover at Shield. I was very happy that she still appeared in a few Supergirl episodes this season.
