she said that she began wearing sunscreen as a teenager every day

I was thinking that sunscreen had to be a major reason BH's skin looks so good. If she's never had a sunburn, she's ahead of the game. Unlike some of us who grew up when it was cool to want the Bain de Soleil St.-Tropez tan. Sigh.

Then you should be happy. Baby Harper (KSt's real baby) is supposedly going to start playing Baby Georgie on the show. I didn't have a problem with OG Georgie, but Harper is really beautiful.

I guess my UO is that I think Baby Rocco isn't cute at all. But I think they recast him too.

Liked OG Danny, hate this new one. But they all pale to my Baby Avery.

The Seattle Georgie had some kind of illness, it seemed, as she was hiccupping or coughing or something.  That did not add to her looks, so maybe that's all it was.

The other babies are ok on the show but Avery!  She's lovely.  What child plays that part?  Is she the baby of one of the actors/actresses?

That I do not know, but Google might have some information.

Meh, I am lazy and not that interested heh.  I hope they got that other (Seattle) baby to the doctor, and that's all I am going to say about her.  Whoever she was.  She was sitting up and all and didn't look all that young, either.   Just didn't seem like a good fit.

I never had much use for Robin. I don't hate her. I'm basically meh on her. I disliked her when she came back and ordered Sabrina to tell Patrick to reunite with Robin. That bugged me because a) Sabrina had told him that and b) that shit was all on Patrick. Other than that, I don't care one way or another.

Yeah, I never could figure out why it was that Sabrina told Patrick to go back to his wife - TWICE - when he came chasing after her - TWICE, yet somehow we were supposed to believe she just wasn't letting go.  Patrick treated Sabrina so shabbily all the way through that relationship, I can't believe she would want to have a thing to do with him now.  Not marrying him was the luckiest escape she ever had.

That being said, I don't really hold Robin responsible for the whole, "let my husband go" thing.  It kind of makes sense that Robin would want to absolve Patrick of responsibility for the marriage clusterfuck, he was the man she loved after all.  I just found it enraging the way the writing bent over backwards to protect Patrick, directly at both Sabrina and Robin's expense.

If the cast needs to be cut, as much as I hate to say it because I enjoy the hell out of MW, Ava needs to go (along with many others) ... She wouldn't be my first choice, but she's also expendable if need be.

You know, it was a thing a while back for people to snark that getting rid of Kiki would be easy.  "She lifts right out".  But I think that's true of almost every single character currently on canvas, and I cannot help but suspect that is by design.  Ava would lift right out.  Anna would lift right out.  Liz or Sam would lift right out.  Hell, at this point Sonny would lift right out.  It's like the show is deliberately structured so that no one actor can hold it hostage because it would be all too easy to get rid of their characters at a moment's notice.

I think Liz has beautiful skin and hair.

How is that unpopular? I swear, that's at least 59% of what I see about GH, how physically beautiful and perfect and flawless RH is.

My unpopular opinion is that RH/Liz is very good-looking, but hardly anything special. And she needs several cheeseburgers and a nice dessert after each one.

I think this is without a doubt absolutely the case and on done on purpose. That said, there are definitely some more than others.

I like Sabrina and have wanted her & Michael since she came on. I had hoped she'd be written as spunky and kinda WTF over the happenings in PC. As always I blame Ron's short-sightedness. He's got all the wrong couples together.

We had that in Ellie. I loved her reactions to Sonny and Kannie's wedding.

Sabrina would have been more acceptable to me if she didn't have those damn fantasies, lots of sex, and if Ron didn't need her to be the bestest nurse who ever nursed.

  • Love 4

Sabrina's unassailable perfection was what immediately turned me off her. We were force-fed this person without knowing anything about her, just that she was some naive (too naive, IMO), lovely, klutzy nursing student with a slightly creepy crush on Patrick. And it didn't help that TeCa was new to soap acting. I'll never understand why Ron doesn't ease in newbies like this. It's one thing to drop in Maura West as Ava. MW knows what she's doing, and we'd heard about Julian's sister, so at least a heavy dose of Ava had some story sense. But a brand-new character with a green soap actor gets shoved down our throats and we're supposed to instantly fall in love with her? NO.

Everybody is a newbie at some point. I remember when Maura first came on ATWT & was immediately tied to Rosanna & pushed to the forefront and Rosanna kinda turned into the bad guy. I did NOT like MW at first because I liked her sister. She wasn't that great out of the gate but she got better & grew into the role. I wish Sabrina had been given that chance instead of thrown with Patrick in a pairing that had no hope whatsoever of succeeding. But I'm also not a Robin fan as such. I've watched clips on YouTube but for the life of me I've never seen her have sexual chemistry with any male she's been paired with. Before I knew her full history I kept thinking, 'they're gonna make her gay, right?' I was really surprised her storyline didn't turn out that way. I may have liked her better if they had. Plus it would have been interesting knowing she is HIV positive due to sex with a guy but she found herself attracted to women.

Sure, everyone is a newbie at some point. And a soap needs new blood on the regular, or else it becomes too incestuous to be sustainable. (My impression is that Days has/had this problem, considering the comments about people dating their nieces I've come across.) Still, I'm with dubbel zout, they need to be integrated slowly. Per Douglas Marland's oft-quoted rule:

Build new characters slowly. Everyone knows that it takes six months to a year for an audience to care about a new character. Tie them in to existing characters. Don't shove them down the viewers' throats.

Marland was a master. They don't make soap writers like that anymore. And he is absolutely right. As someone who liked the Sabrina character, I didn't want her onscreen every day stuck in some useless fantasy romance with Patrick. She should have been in the sorely lacking 20 something crowd. And I liked Ellie too but I always had this feeling she was created as the Beta version of Sabrina, when they realized how Disney-fied they made her but refused to make a course correction.

I like Michael and Sabrina. It's nice to see pretty people together and it not based on lies, rape, kidnapping, or violence.

I do, too.  I will like them much better once Sabrina stops bugging Michael about the custody suit (I think, I hope, that was the end of it on Thursday).  I want the writers to make her character a bit more realistic, not an angel, not a psychotic person (that was one short post-partum psychosis, thankfully), just a friend to Michael.

I know it's a lot to ask.

  • Love 2

I think they will make an awesome married couple. I posted in the episode thread that Sabrina should realize Michael is her real life Prince Charming of sorts. She gets the fancy wedding, the instafamily, a new mother figure in Monica, and a beautiful adopted daughter in Avery. And I can definitely see Ava using Sabrina's guilt to get visitation. Ava gets more in the long run imo if Avery becomes a Quartermaine.

I also like Michael and Sabrina. I don't hate Sabrina like most do, so I would rather see her over the mob gang and constipated Jake.

Also a very UO, I didn't find KA to be terrible during the last few weeks she's been on. I never disliked her (her hair is fantastic) and was sort of bummed she's gone.

I ff Johnny. I don't find his greasy self appealing at all.

I think people should keep in mind that KA's acting career consisted of playing one character on a soap opera. Starr wasn't super complex and it probably didn't take much acting capability to play that character. Then she comes to another soap opera and plays a terribly written character who is involved in stupid stories and she probably didn't receive much direction or feedback or constructive criticism. She's a young actress and I think she was ok considering how bad this show is. I'm willing to bet most of the problems with Kiki are due to the writing and this new actress won't be much better.

I actually just thought KA was really good her first couple of weeks as Kiki when she was being written as bitchy and trashy. And then they made her a generic ingenue with no direction and KA sucked like a hooker on pay day. Then her last week or so they finally gave Kiki some direction and KA was good.

I know I've spent a lot of bandwidth railing against KA but I'm starting to think that if she had just been given some decent material she would have been decent.

ETA: I think KA looks worlds better with the darker locks. I hope she keeps her hair dark because at least on tv she looked so washed-out as a blonde.

My UO for this week is that I outright cheered when Morgan punched Michael.

I've been wanting that tiny mouth of rage slugged for a good while now, so I was quite happy that it finally happened. I'd love a GIF of it, just to replay over and over.

Michael and his "anger campaign" are both so played out for me it isn't even funny, so seeing someone finally deck him good was the first bright spot of the week for me.

I did too, but I've thought Morgan owed Michael a face punch dating back to November of 2013 when Michael went after him on the dock before dumbass almost drowned. I hated Morgan today, as I do a lot lately, but I relished the punch because it's been a long time coming. And I think Michael needs to sit down and shut the hell up.

I'm supposed to feel sympathy for Michael but instead I just want him to STFU and go sit in time out.

Exactly. His "war" with Sonny has not and will not endear him to me. He's still a little punk ass that I find it impossible to root for.

That's how I feel. Since Morgan was pretty much the only person who would punch Michael, unfortunately, I accepted that version of events because it was about damn time for someone to lay that smug ass out on his. I would have ordered Morgan a Kelly's BLT for a job well done, well earned.

They're both epic dumbasses.

Truer words were never spoken. They really are brothers. Two incredibly stupid and annoying brothers.

You mean Phylis, right?

I imagine somewhere Roger could have been a devil may care businessman toying with Phylis Abbott Summers Whatever. They could have banged by the dumpster and the chemistry would have been off the charts. He'd have acted circles around Dickolas Newman, tangoed with Smilin Jack, and mocked Victor Newman.

But we got Franco. Thanks, Ron.

Nina could have been a sexy socialite wanting revenge on Silas, flirting with hot new doctor Stephen Lars or new businessman or lawyer guy Blah Blah Quartermaine.

But we got Franco. Thanks, Ron. For a hot actress, MSt gets fuddy duddy names.
