Best TV Dance Sequences: "5-6-7-8"

What are your favorite TV dance sequences? One of mine is courtesy of The Tonight Show, in which host Jimmy Fallon declares a ban on dancing, which guest Kevin Bacon not only opposes, he does so by doing a mash-up of some of the most iconic dances from Footloose, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year:

That scene proves that Kevin Bacon is not only a great actor, he's still a great dancer-and he's not too bad on the eyes, either.

Talk about and/or post your Favorite TV dance numbers here.

Not a specific scene but the dancers of FAME turned up every awards show during the series run. Debbie Allen's style was dance on TV.

For just dancing I have had friends on Soul Train from the late 70s up into the 90s. I was wondering how long they could keep going before being retired. The most noticeable was Jody Watley before Shalamar with her signature move of whipping out a Japanese hand fan, Japanese Americans were the largest minority group to the Black majority at our school a decade after White flight. She was two years ahead of me in school and nice despite her celebrity status.

Bumping it up with one of the best dance routines I've ever seen in my life, the Hip-Hop number with Alex Wong and Stephen "tWitch" Boss to L'il Jon & LMFAO's "Outta Your Mind" on So You Think You Can Dance, brilliantly choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon Dumo, aka "Nappy Tabs." The audience, the judges and even host Cat Deeley loved it, with great reason:

Aunt Viv getting busy on The Fresh Prince might be my favorite dance scene in a sitcom

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOJSuIVmv_g

She had to have been a dancer in real life, yes? Her body was amazing!

So You Think You Can Dance - Ramalama Bang Bang

So You Think You Can Dance - Gravity

Those are two of my all-time favorites. Also from SYTYCD: Hummingbird and Flower and Fame.

From Chuck: Chuck and Awesome Tango

Everybody Loves Raymond: Swing

Fresh Prince: The Carlton Dance

Yes, she was on Broadway and I loved the show let her use her dance skills. It was jarring when they recast her. Someone mentioned how much they hated the second Aunt Vivian and truly, the second one had not one iota on the first.

I grew up on Fresh Prince so when I think of dance TV moments, Carlton dance and the Apache Gang number go to my head. The other being the classic Niles/Daphne dance too.

There are many great dance moments that I'm sure I'll think of but the one I immediately thought of was from Three's Company when Janet was in a dance class and the instructor convinced her that she could dance professionally.  She later found out he was lying to her because he wanted to sleep with her.  Janet was feeling down and Jack asked Janet to dance with him.  It wasn't grand but it was sweet.

But in trying to find that on YouTube, another one from Three's Company appeared and I can't believe it wasn't the first thing I thought of.  John Ritter at his physical best.  The first minute is set up and it really gets in gear around one minute in.

A couple of months ago, Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender were on The Graham Norton Show to promote X-Men: Days Of Future Past and Hugh told a story about Michael's being an intense actor who sometimes takes so long to prepare for his scenes that only one song can get him out of his trailer: "Blurred Lines." As much as I hate that song, that's how much I loved seeing the three of them dancing to it. The only thing that would have made it better would have been if there was twerking involved:

I posted this in the TV Moments/Music thread but it really belongs here (I missed the thread, apparently). But from Star Trek TNG, Dr. Crusher teaching Data to dance. First tap, then ballroom. I love the tap-dancing, it's great.

Bumping it up with two great dances from the Season 19 premiere of Dancing With the Stars.  First, for sheer entertainment, here's Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd's Cha-Cha to Snoop Dogg's "Drop It Like It's Hot," with a cameo by Cheech Marin:

Last, but definitely not least, is Alfonso Ribero and Witney Carson's Jive, which not only got the best score of the night, it's one of the best first week dances in DWTS history, if not the best:

Bumping it up with Alfonso Ribero & Witney Carson's dances from the Finale of this season's Dancing With the Stars.  YouTube's removing the clip of Team Witfonso's original Jive (which is why it can't be seen in the previous post) turned out to be a blessing in disguise because the second version is even better:

As great as that was, their Freestyle was not only incredible, it's one of the best DWTS freestyles ever:

On the other end one of my earliest TV memories is seeing Elton John on Soul Train and watching the Soul Train dancers trying to find a danceable beat to Bennie and the Jets.

Bumping it up again with three of the best routines from Dancing With the Stars annual Halloween episode. First, ex pro football player Calvin Johnson & partner Linsay Arnold's Quickstep:

Quickstep

Next, gold-medal-winning gymnast Laurie Hernandez & Val Chmercovsky's beautiful Viennese Waltz to "Pure Imagination":

Viennese Waltz

Last, but not least, race car driver James Hinchcliffe & his partner Jenna Johnson, the latter of whom filled in for James' injured regular partner Sharna Burgess  in a Suicide Squad-inspired Viennese Waltz that IMO is the sexiest VW I've ever seen:

I loved those big dance birthday productions on the Cosby Show. And I enjoyed their dancing title sequences.

Angela Chase dancing to Blister in the Sun in her bedroom upon realizing she is over Jordan Catalano on My So-Called Life.

There's an episode of Room 104, the HBO anthology series about various events in a motel room (104, naturally), that's about the hotel maid reconnecting with her younger self-which, in a clever twist, is told entirely in dance.

Star Trek Discovery:  so basically Stamets is trapped in a time loop and needs Michael’s help to get Tyler to help save the ship. So Stamets gives Micheal a dance lesson as they talk about love in order to get Michael to be more open with Tyler who is at a party oblivious to the danger that they are in.  It’s kind of a sweet moment in a stressful episode and it’s lovely to hear Stamets talk about meeting his partner.

In tribute to the late, great Michael K. Williams, here's a scene of him in the HBO series Lovecraft Country, the circa 1950s-set horror series in which he played Montrose Freeman, the abusive father of protagonist Tic. As it turned out, Montrose was a closeted gay man who couldn't accept who he was until one night at a gay bar, where he was surrounded by drag queens. I believe that this moment is one of the reasons why Williams got an Emmy nomination:
