Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

No doubt anxiety is on the list for Carlin, although her symptoms are more severe than we usually see. The only way to get a true anxiety diagnosis, with symptoms that Carlin is presenting with, is to rule out medical issues.

If Philly went to work at McDonald’s he might encounter women exposing their knees! Or have a woman boss! He would be SEVERELY traumatized. He probably wouldn’t be able to preach the right Bible to random customers either. There are a lot of reasons why the Rodlets can’t work at regular jobs but the main one is crazy parents.

Phillip might work with females or have female customers who might be polite to him and say something scandalous like "hope you are having a good day". Then, just like Timbits, Phillip would have no choice but to be "curt" to the female to get rid of the temptation of the evil woman. ☹️

True. Even worse, he might make friends with a girl his age. That would send Jill into a frenzy, as it did with Tim.

I have a feeling Jonathan's "excellent" job is shoveling manure on a farm. That would probably be pretty safe work. Phillip can do something like that too.

Also, children learn what they live.  Phillip has no example as to what people do when they need money other than that of his parents:  go to churches to preach, sing and beg for money.  A car for him isn't the first one Jill has essentially expected to be given to them for nothing; it's worked before, actually worked on multiple occasions.  It probably didn't even occur to Phillip to find a real job because his parents don't have them, Tim's work history is spotty at best and they've been pretty lucky with begging for freebies over the last decade or so.  Work?  Who needs it?  Not the Rodriguii.

This is a big problem for the Rod boys. Jill is a fast talker and master of the con, but there's no indication the boys have the same personality and talent.

I don't think Phil is going to last very long at Massillon, primarily because of money. The Rods don't prepare for anything, and not everyone is open to being a victim of their grift. It didn't work at Moody for Tim. Phillip's college is smaller and more desperate, but even that school has expenses to meet. Massillon is full of students just like Phillip, so there's no reason to think he'd get special treatment.

Yeah, I think any customer service-type jobs are out for the Rodling males. There are many legitimate behind-the-scenes jobs available, though. Although, on second thought, they are so malnourished they might snap like a twig doing any kind of manual labor jobs, like stockroom work or loading/unloading trucks.

What type of employment is out there for them to do?

Ain't it the truth!  Remember when Timbits' flight from Cleveland to Texas was cancelled, his money refunded, so he then drove over 20 hours so he didn't miss the family "vacation"/grifting opportunity.  I commented a normal young male would've likely figured he was free in a big city with money, and have some fun.  No way with Timbits!

I think that was more of being in fear of BME’s wrath than missing a family “vacation”/grifting opportunity.

That still annoys me because now that we are aware of all of his car accidents, he really could have killed or seriously injured someone else or himself. All to please BME.

That was supposed to be the first of the yearly family vacations Jill decided would be their new tradition. When Jill decides something should happen, everyone had better show up--or die trying.

I don't think the Rods were offered Nathan's sister's big beach house again; Jill hasn't mentioned a family reunion/vacation this year. I hope there's a delicious story behind the beach house shutout.

Jill posted on FB basically begging for a vacation house. She said the place they had fell through and she was looking for an AFFORDABLE vacation house that could accommodate then comfortably. A lot of responses directed her to check AirB&B, Kayak, and other websites. I’m sure Jill was not amused. It looks like no one offered them free lodging. 😂 They must have really left a mess on Rebeca’s house not to be invited again. The pool was probably a mess after so many people used it wearing street clothes. I hope that doesn’t mean Nurthan are shut out. It really isn’t their fault that Jill is rude and burns bridges.

I think Jill just assumed they would get a week at the house free every year. It's presumptuous, but that's our Jilly.

Swimming in a pool in street clothes is just stupid. Jill has been criticized about this several before, but she just keeps doing it to show off. She's crude and selfish, and I'm glad she won't get a free vacation home to use every year. She and Lazy Davy don't work, so they hardly need vacations anyway.

Every family has embarrassing members, and Nurthan shouldn't take the blame for Nurie's loser parents, but Nurie and Nathan should take note and not act like BME and GWE or risk getting shut out themselves.

I think there's a story about that house, and it doesn't make Jill look good. I guess we'll never know.

Jill was reaching out to her fan club in the AFFORDABLE vacation post; Jill and two daughters were making goofy faces about their sad plight to people who probably can't afford luxurious vacations or any vacations at all. Her fans gave serious suggestions about rentals, camping, and staycations. You'd think people would know by now that Queen Jill deserves nothing less than a free house with a pool by the ocean in a resort area. After all, vacation to the Rods means spending other people's money, defacing public or private property, and complaining about women's shorts and bathing suits.

If it wasn't for it being a godless heathen filled place, I would have expected from her to demand a Disney trip. Just think about all the stuffed animal the kids can buy her there!

If Carlin's further tests with specialists don't show anything is wrong...perhaps she's having anxiety attacks. I suffered with them for 2 years some time ago....you can feel faint, heart palpitations, etc. Nothing showed up for me on tests...I had to do some real "self-healing" and have a good talk with myself; ween off tranquilizers and concentrate to live in the moment. She has had a lot of changes recently....a business, birth of children, new house, travel, etc...not enough real rest perhaps...maybe this is what's happening to her. (Not a doctor, just experienced a similar situation myself.) I hope they figure out what it is soon.

Anxiety attacks would have been my first thought. (I work in healthcare but am not a doctor, lol). I have several family members and friends who have gone to the ER with the symptoms you described, and all were diagnosed with anxiety disorders. But ER clinicians are very adept at recognizing these since they see them so often, so if none suggested this to her during her many ER visits thus far, perhaps they’ve already ruled them out.

If Tim had stayed in Cleveland briefly, he could have at least gone to a movie and had a bite to eat. Doesn’t seem like much,  but he doesn’t get much freedom these days. He should’ve been able to navigate that better than any of his siblings since he did leave on his own for a year or so.

We only know what Carlin tells us and it could be they have discussed panic and anxiety with her and she has chosen not to share that potential diagnosis.  However, that diagnosis, while they might suspect it, is usually one of exclusion, so she still needs testing.  I do think it is pretty clear that the ER does not feel that there is anything happening that is an immediate threat to her health and well being at this point, though.  She's been to the ER a bunch and has to have seen multiple different practitioners at this point, but none seem to think she needs admission or an urgent consultation with a specialist.

IMO, She couldn’t admit to panic attacks or anxiety because then she’d be ridiculed by her family for not trusting God enough.

Had she presented with a panic attack the first time, she would have gotten a Rx for some anti anxiety meds and been on her merry way.

Apparently, no one told this to Carlin. They said they have a follow up with a cardiologist in Knoxville, and needed to schedule an appointment with a neurologist, but no mention of a psych doctor.

ERs, around here anyway, don't prescribe long term medications, like an SSRI, but they will write a script for a benzodiazepine, if they're pretty sure they're seeing anxiety.

I'd like to know what, if any, symptoms Carlin had prior to these fainting episodes. Its rare for fainting, multiple times in a short period, to be the onset of anxiety/panic disorder.

Panic attacks are not easily diagnosable and usually are only considered after other possible diagnoses are ruled out.  Anti-anxiety meds are not the appropriate treatment for them either and, since stuff like valium can be addictive, ER docs don't hand them out very freely.  They might offer her a couple of pills, but they'd tell her to see her family doc or refer her to someone for further treatment.

The last thing ER docs want is for patients to keep returning to the ER and requesting refills of their meds.

I was pretty easily diagnosed with a panic attack during my only trip to the ER. It was a long time ago, but I do remember that I was hyperventilating, and my heart rate/BP were through the roof. I didn't have a PCP, and I don't remember if I was sent home with a script. I just figured they would do that these days.

According to what she's said, she gets 'dizzy' and falls to the ground.  She noted that her lips were numb during one episode which is indicative of hyperventilation, which is often seen in panic and anxiety.

The other thing is that she seems to be getting the 'episodes' when she either stands after sitting or lying or, at least once, while standing in line at a fast food store.  It's not uncommon when rising, especially quickly, to have a transient drop in blood pressure which could make her lightheaded for a moment or two.  When standing in one place without moving, the blood tends to pool in the feet which can also cause the blood pressure to drop and dizziness as not enough blood gets to the brain.  It's exacerbated by dehydration, lack of proper nutrition, lack of sleep, hot weather and anxiety.  It's called orthostatic hypotension.

Old age, medical conditions, certain medications can also make the symptoms more common.

In all my years working in the mental health field, working at multiple different levels of care I've seen exactly 2 patients faint/pass out, due to anxiety alone. I wouldn't rule it out with Carlin, but it wouldn't be my first thought although postpartum anxiety is a thing.

ERs are super busy - there's a saying treat 'em or street 'em. They've done all they really can do for Carlin.

I hope for her sake, she figures it out soon.

This latest jaunt has them headed to somewhere in PA. Jill is speaking at a ladies luncheon today, David preaches tomorrow. I'm sure bad music is included in there at some point.

Anyone know where? I'm afraid to do a google search and have my search history altered forever.  Someone once mentioned they were headed to Chambersburg, which isn't too far from me, but they keep their brand of conservative religiousness down there and don't send it up I-81 to us lol

I'm not sure. They were in PA earlier this year. I don't know why they couldn't have made it one trip.

UPDATE: Read on FJ that they were at this church last year, so they willingly invited the Rods back.

I'm finding Carlin's clickbaiting incredibly distateful. Seriously, if you are that bad, rest up, make appointments with Doctors and get off social media.

Personally, I think she just has massive anxiety coupled with stress and too little rest. She was fine flying, fine in California. Anxiety can trigger epilepsy-like seizures.

Running out of patience and sympathy with those attention seeking idiots.

On the Rodders front, anyone seen her latest offering in Dildo pictures?

Back in the day, they used to tell us gelatin “helped” nails and hair to grow longer and stronger. Some women actually downed dry jello mix, lol. Like Plexus, it didn’t actually help. Unlike Plexus, gelatin was cheap and harmless.
