They posted it after a horrible tragedy in which the majority of the victims were people the Duggars openly rail against. Their post at that time was the very definition of passive-aggressive. We have been around long enough to know how they operate. Couple this with Jessa's posts by known anti-LGBT pastors and yes, their intentions are clear. They could have offered prayers and sympathy. Instead, they posted a verse about getting saved. The implications are clear.

That's what all the real Christians I know did.

Disclaimer: I DO NOT mean this post in a snarky way. I'm asking a genuine, sincere question.

The Duggar post is simply a piece of Scripture. They don't refer to the awful tragedy in Orlando at all, the commenters do. Am I missing something?

Even if you give them the benefit of the doubt that they were not posting this as a passive aggressive message that being straight will keep you out of harms way because of what "the Bible teaches", which I believe was their intent, they should be more mindful of the content and timing of what they post.

Either way you look at it, it was wrong. It's wrong to spew hate, and it's wrong to be so thoughtless of the tragedies surrounding us, and even more so when you consider yourself "stewards of God".

Chik-Fil-A owners, well known to be unsupportive of marriage equality etc, still put their well-publicized Christianity into action. They opened their Orlando store on Sunday, when they are normally closed, to feed those who were aiding victims. Their employees donated blood. They have their beliefs, which are not typically LGBTQ-friendly. But they helped their fellow humans. No preaching involved, as far as I have seen.

I'm sure the stink bus, or ALERT will be by in a few weeks, to look sad, then go home.

Chick-fil-A is franchised, so maybe that particular store owner is more about business and community and less about Dan Cathy's religious views?

Maybe so. The first article I saw, which of course I can't find now, gave me the impression that the corporation itself instigated the aid efforts. But I may have reached that conclusion on my own ?

... resisting urge to go off on how "thoughts and prayers" has become the social media knee-jerk reaction to tragedies people are horrified about but can't get off their ass to do anything about ...

With that in mind, "thoughts and prayers" might have been more appropriate.  This was the equivalent of "I told you so" via scripture.

I found the pic on the Duggar Official FB page. The lighting looks a bit different in that pic; the pies look more orange, and it looks like maybe overhead lighting makes some of the pies look lighter. My bad.  Given that the caption says that "MAMA" is making the pies, I will assume that Jana/Jinger/Joy took the pic with their phone. I doubt Jinger busted out the $500 model for this dreck of a staged shot.

Frozen dough, into which MAYBE Michelle poured in prepared canned filling!

Is frozen dough an actual thing (puff pastry aside)? I get frozen ready-made pie crusts but the edges on these are so dodgy looking she must've done them herself. And why on earth is she standing at the stove doing this, balancing half a dozen pies on the gas top thingies? It looks insane. I usually do my baking on a flat surface but maybe the Duggars do things a little bit differently in this area as well.

The colour is weird, but then, I don't know what pumpkin pie looks like, but I hate their staged fake shots. Just like the Maxhells.

This is one of the things I really really hate about their being on television. As if being Gothard didn't do enough to force those kids to kind of unconsciously accept the utter falsification of their lives, having the tv show to pimp adds to the required falsification a hundredfold. Nobody who has accepted as normal behavior the putting up of constant false fronts and false images to serve some external purpose is ever ever going to be a mentally healthy or a happy person, in my opinion. I find it appalling that 19 kids and counting on have been indoctrinated into the belief that this is a good and necessary practice.

i was at the library and looked at the Duggar girls "realtionship" book, you know the one.

Anyway, I was skimming it and it said Michelle's dad grew up in an orphanage.  I never remember hearing that on the show. It jumped out at me because of their adoption fantasies, Jill tweeting about Cathy's dead birth mother and the Gothard "curse theory" that discourages adoption.

Michelle's father might have lived at an orphanage because his mother didn't have the financial means to look after her children after her husband died in 1929. Michelle's father was born in 1924 and he did have brothers and sisters, so probably not really an "orphan" orphan.

I went at read that section of the book. JimBob has led the J-slaves to believe he grew up hardscrabble too. He's really slagged off his dad. The utilities were allegedly cut off several times, and the family home foreclosed on. Yet somehow grandma owns like ten houses.

And they sent him to private school ...

Wonder what he'd say about his father if he'd let a dozen people live in a small three-bedroom house with one bathroom while he spent a quarter million bucks on a vanity campaign for a U.S. Senate seat that virtually everyone agreed he was unqualified for and didn't have a chance in hell of winning. Hmmm....

I was wondering that too. A spill would be hard to clean up on a stove top but who am I kidding she wouldn't clean it anyway.

And looked the other way while they were systematically molested.

God told him to run for the Senate. Churchie, you are not paying attention at all.  You missed the point.  GOD told him. That's it. No more about that Senate run and his family living in poverty.

Michelle looks nice in that picture.  HER HAIR IS SUCH AN OUTDATED MESS.  She has had make overs and yet, she returns to 1987.

I'm more disgusted how it's hanging there while she cooks. Gross.

Also those don't look like any pumpkin pie I've ever made. Color is way off.

Well, one of them does come from a father who thinks that dry humping on a minigolf course should be shared with the world and a mother who thinks that her monthly-cycle calendar should be hung on the fridge to be regularly perused by her minor children and shown on tv. So.............Duggarworld appears to have slightly different views from most of us about what's private and what's not.

I'm nauseated right now, but I'll say it.

$100 to the local food bank that there's pictorial evidence of the film variety of J-Chelle and Jim Boob after seeing that large TV mounted in their room. After all, it's okay if you're married.

I called "sex tape" when I first saw that screen rig in their lovenest. Then I threw up a little in my mouth.

Did you?? I just KNOW it exists but I can't bear to look!

I just did. All that comes up are a lot of blogs and sites pro and contra, and some porn videos. I think the idea may be that you can take a nekkid snap or two for your spouse, should you be away and can barely contain yourself for a few days

Oh, OF COURSE you would need to do this for your spouse. Never let their imagination wander to Thoughts of Another. I hope Anna didn't feel the need to send anything along with Jish to Jesus Jail...

Actually, I am not picturing nude shots, but rather a Fundie-clad woman coyly raising her skirt above her knee. For the actual porn, maybe some dry-humping on a mini golf course.

I sure hope that after MeChelle wore that horrible tin foil dress for Jill's wedding she will finally have something that actually fits her and makes her look like a 49 (?) year old for Jinger's wedding.

You've got to be bloody joking!!!

No doubt it has to have puffed sleeves and a gazillion modesty panels!

J'chelle really can't put herself together -- at all. It's like she's tone deaf, but it's her eyes that can't tell if something works. Add to that JB's cheapness and their obsession with "Modesty" and you get the train wreck that is J'chelle.
