Really, Sam? REALLY?

Season 10, Episode 20 Angel Heart:

Quote

(Scene changes back to the hotel room with Sam and Claire. We see Sam’s hands gesturing in front of his laptop.)

SAM

There we go.

CLAIRE (walking over to Sam at the table with his laptop)

Seriously? It's that easy?

SAM

Yes. I can also show you how to set up fake credit cards. It will make life on the road a lot easier.

CLAIRE

You guys are credit card scammers, too?

SAM

Yeah. Hunting monsters doesn't exactly pay the bills.

CLAIRE

Then why do you do it?

SAM

To help people, make a difference.

CLAIRE

That's it?

SAM

That's not enough?

REALLY???

Man, I was enjoying that little clip yesterday so much. And then they had to go and be all Dabb/Singer. Screw them.

That preview gives us the answer, it’s a First Class Relic - which means a literal piece of the body of a Saint.  Of course those are so long dead I’m not sure how you get the blood part.  Maybe a spell over a bone will regenerate blood in the marrow?   Maybe a more modern Saint?   I don’t see them digging up John Paul II or Saint Mother Theresa.  Maybe someone already stole the part and that the ‘film noir’ crowd.  So, the relic is the Maltese Falcon.

I'm guessing this is the end of the episode. That's Fred's scarf not Daphne's cause hers is green. Maybe Fred turns out to have a crush on Dean and he gives him his scarf for ....reasons. That would be hilarious and would make my day.

I have never watched or seen a Scooby cartoon so I didn't know scarves were a thing.  But that would be hilarious.

This probably should go into Bitter Spoilers or UOs, but...I'm not interested at all in Scooby-Doo.  I never watched it as a kid, don't know much (or anything) about the characters, and I'd rather watch the *real* Winchesters than cartoon versions. *shrug*  MMV.

The last three episodes have titles--21.) Beat the Devil 22.) Apocalypse Now 23.) Let the Good Times Roll

That's a cheery finale title!  Could very well be ironic.  Not surprised at all by mention of Apocalypse.

Our of curiosity, they keep mentioning Lucifer for the archangel grace but does he have any of that anymore? His grace was drained and he is using Sister Jo but isn't hers just regular angel grace. Does that make any sense?

Michael didn't take all of his grace AFAIK. He just doesn't have enough to be as powerful as he was.

I agree with @catrox14 take on it. The interesting question is; what happens to the grace that Lucifer is taking from Sister Jo? Does it somehow transform into archangel grace? Or is Lucifers grace a weird hybrid and say 70% normal angel grace and 30% archangel grace?

i think it's just enough grace to keep him from going full human and then he'll probably do something else.

Cas mentioned last week that Lucifer was getting stronger every day, so I'm assuming that his grace replenishes itself after a while.  Sort of a self-healing thing.  Sister Jo's grace was just to keep him juiced up in the interim so he wasn't completely vulnerable back in our world.  At least that was my take on it.

My speculation is that I'll probably end up saying zoinks and jinkies at random moments or in conversation after watching.

My speculation is that it'll probably be very lame with Dean mainly focusing on getting in Daphne's bed, irritating Fred to no end, and chowing down with Scooby and Shaggy while Thelma and Sam save the day. Sorry, but my UO is that Dabb and Singer have no actual respect for the show or main characters. However, they are more than willing to ride the gravy train to the bank while it's firmly run into the ground and worse, as long as Sam and Dean are anywhere in the episode, fans will watch so why should they bother? It's not like the ratings ever really suffer no matter how many times they rinse and repeat the same troupes.

(Yes, I am one of the fans still watching until Jensen hangs it up but that doesn't mean I don't hate what they've done with the show.)

Cool!  Looks like on top of directing that Gabriel is certainly IN episode 20 too.  Tree Topper thinks Gabriel is probably in 18 too.  Love me some Gabriel.

These Spoilers Suck: Bitterness Speculation about SPN Spoilers

I watched the Scooby episode this is supposed to be based on. It's from 1969 (perfect!... I love vintage Scooby) and called "A Night of Fright Is No Delight" Superwiki posted the link

I can definitely see where it would turn "darker" as a Supernatural version.  And per Dabb, there will be no unmasking, so I'm guessing the ghosts are real.  So, Sam & Dean & salt guns on Scooby?  Interesting. I also think the flying washing machine solution may not be the answer.

Or everyone else is a little older and shrinking?

I sure hope Daphne is not a teenager and is the one in her 20s or older working as a journalist. That's the one thing that bothers me about Dean hitting on Daphne in the cartoon. She's a teenager.

From the photos, it’s clear they look precisely as they had in 1969.  We see Dean kissing Daphne’s hand.  It may be like if I was to transport to the past and see a young Dave Jones or Bobby Sherman (my teen crushes).  It wouldn’t be ACTUAL romance, more like fond admiration of what they meant to me when I was a teen.  A little flirty but more nostalgic that real.

I think she is more like a vampire in a teenage romance, sure they are "stuck" as a teenager but actually are old as dirt. I`ve never really watched Scooby Doo as a kid but it started in 1969, right? Daphne has been a teenager when Dean has been younger than her and she was his teenage crush. In that context she is the "older woman". So I don`t mind any flirtation.

If a cartoon runs long enough, I just can`t take the frozen character ages seriously after a certain point. Like Lisa and Bart Simpson still being kids. It`s just too much suspension of disbelief now.

LOL, if Cartoon Dean hitting on Cartoon Daphne is all that is wrong with this episode, I'll be relieved. Lordy, I know the guy can do no right, but adding crushing/hitting on a cartoon character to his list of offences? Zoinks.

I wonder if they knew when they wrote this episode and scheduled it for 13x16, that it would follow another 'concept' episode and three week break. Hopefully the publicity it's getting will help bring viewers in.

Sorry if you think I'm attacking Dean. I'm not. I'm just not interested in the writers having a 40 year old man hit on a 16 year old.  It's not me against Dean the character. It's me against the writers who might have Dean do that.  It's just icky

That's fair enough. Again, I wasn't going after Dean here.

I have no idea how old the Scooby gang is supposed to be, but they always seemed older than teenagers in my mind.  Maybe the boys will regress to some generic age as well when they enter Scooby world.  From the few pics I've seen, they don't particularly look older than anyone else.  As a minor critique, I don't think Dean looks at all like Dean.  Sam at least has the same facial structure so you can see that it's him, but they could have done a better job with Dean.  Cas is wearing his obligatory trench coat, so he's easy to recognize.

I agree. He looks nothing like Dean. I don't know why they have such trouble with it. Oh well.

I know.  I've seen plenty of fan art over the years, and so many of them are easily able to capture the essence of Jensen/Dean in a simple pencil drawing.  His face is rather Prince Charming perfect, so just right for cartoons.  Maybe the rule is no one is allowed to be cuter than Fred.

For me Sam’s animation is the best in terms of likeness to the actor, Dean’s is decent enough and Cas’ is the worst. IMO they were a bit lazy with Cas’ face because the trade mark outfit ensures he’ll be recognised anyway.

To me it actually looked like Cas has a weird mustache in those pictures. It`s distracting.

Dean doesn`t look too much like Dean but at least it`s better than that horrid In the Beginning comic where young!Dean for some reason was drawn to look like freaking Chucky the murder doll. This looks more generic but innocuous.

Oh Chuck, I know you're not attacking Dean. I just don't get the same vibe that seems to be prevailing over this. It's already been established that Dean was into Scooby Doo cartoons - I think we can extrapolate that it was since he was a kid, so of course he's going to have fond memories/feelings about meeting 'Daphne' - he probably thought she was hot. But all we've seen is a shot of them holding hands while running, and Singer's (?) comment that Dean has things to say about Fred and Daphne (unless there's more that I missed, which is entirely possible). As we've talked about elsewhere, Dean looks a lot like Jensen, so maybe Daphne has her own crush going and grabs his hand? I've read/seen somewhere that he kisses her hand - not exactly 40 year old letch material. I dislike the majority of the writing these days, but even I am not going directly to Dean-is-a-perv territory.

I think it's admiration for his former "dream girl" and nothing more.  But, I could be wrong.

Now please know I love and adore Dean, so I ask this thinking that this is totally Dean-style and not a bad thing.... Do you think he'll mention if they are "Ken dolls" or "fully functional"?  You KNOW Dean would check.  I mean, it's DEAN.  He would want to know that I think.  But it's cartoon, so are they going to lighten up on the naughty a bit just in case it is watched by something other than the standard SPN crowd?

Considering Dean's penchant for anime porn, I'm afraid he's convinced himself they are anatomically correct.

Bold #1 I agree. And why wouldn't she be young Dean's dream girl? She was pretty, kick-ass, and knew about the supernatural. Of course he crushed on her!

Bold #2 Made me laugh out loud, literally. I will now be unreasonably disappointed if this doesn't happen.

This isn't a spoiler, but the speculation over it is, so...  I was clipping something from 5x13, The Song Remains The Same and I had kind of forgotten about this snippet of conversation at the end. If I believed the show gave a single eff about canon and history, I would be very afraid for Dean right now.

Good find, but Dabb and Co. can't remember what they did last week and sometimes in the same episode.   I doubt they remember this exists.

One thing that may be different now though is that I think Dean would trust Michael even less than he did then. There was evidence then that Michael's motivations were maybe iffy, but that got even more apparent as the season went on as Michael got more underhanded and he threw Adam into the mix. And if Dean believes that the only difference between their timeline and the Alternate Universe is that he and Sam weren't there to stop Michael, that would mean that even their Michael had maybe wanted or had the potential to turn on humanity. And given that Dean and Sam were the reason Michael ended up in the cage, Michael wouldn't have much reason to help them and more reason to want  revenge, and I think Dean would suspect that and be wary. I think it would be maybe more likely Dean might consider another archangel for help. Maybe Gabriel?

In my opinion - considering what I think of Michael - I would think one of the worst case scenarios would be both Michaels getting together and working together, and having Dean help get the original Michael out and host him make that more likely. Hosting the alternate Michael... letting out the Darkness was bad enough, but Dean knows what alternate Michael wants, so saying "yes" would be crazy, in my opinion, and I'm hoping they wouldn't have Dean be that reckless.
