legaleagle53 January 5, 2015 Share January 5, 2015 (edited) If anyone can think of a better title for the thread, feel free to suggest changes. Anyway, here's where we are after the debut (source is Yahoo! TV). I think it sounds pretty awesome; what do y'all think? The premiere of the series, from Dan Fogelman and Alan Menken, drew a 2.1 rating among adults 18-49 at 8 PM and 7.8 total viewers against football-buoyed Fox comedies. Bruinsfan January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 According to Zap2It.com those ratings were respectable, and an improvement over the last Once Upon a Time broadcast: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2015/01/05/tv-ratings-sunday-galavant-starts-solid-celebrity-apprentice-premieres-up-revenge-down-resurrection-steady/345732/ Link to comment
legaleagle53 January 6, 2015 Author Share January 6, 2015 If those ratings hold up over the next three weeks, I'd say that this show stands an excellent chance of being renewed. Fans are already clamoring for a second season on Twitter. I think the decision to double up episodes for a four-week run was a brilliant idea. This limited-run approach will hopefully keep viewers from getting burned out too soon. If this approach is done permanently (with the show alternating between half-seasons of OUAT and being promoted constantly during that show's run), it could be around for a long time. Link to comment
Morrigan2575 January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 I was waiting but I never saw the finals for last night. Since it's a "limited series" if it holds up over the next 3 weeks we could conceivably see a S2 order to be used as fill in again for 4 weeks or so next winter. Link to comment
Rick Kitchen January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 I love the show, but I don't know if I want a second season, it's pretty hard to hold the quality up. Link to comment
Morrigan2575 January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 If you can't hold quality over 8 (30 minute) episodes per season...there's a problem. Link to comment
Rick Kitchen January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 Did I say that? The first "season" is 8 30 minute episodes. I don't want them to try to do more than that. Link to comment
Meredith Quill January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 I'm a chalice half full type, so I'll wait & see whether Galavant ends victorious or falls off the horse completely come the finale, before considering whether I'd like a 2nd bite of the cherry. 2 Link to comment

majormama January 7, 2015 Share January 7, 2015 (edited) Is that everywhere, or up to affiliates? My local listings still show Forever for tonight, but an encore of Galavant on Saturday at 7:00. ETA: And there seems to be a glitch on ABC's website. I click on Tonight's Schedule, and it takes me to the week of Dec 21 and says "This schedule unavailable." legaleagle53 January 7, 2015 Author Share January 7, 2015 (edited) According to the latest tweets, there will be encore presentations both tonight AND Saturday. Personally, I think that's just a bit of overkill. Edited January 7, 2015 by legaleagle53 Link to comment

legaleagle53 January 12, 2015 Author Share January 12, 2015 Not surprisingly, the ratings were down due to competition from the Golden Globes. However, we are getting another Wednesday and Saturday encore airing, so I'm not too worried. Link to comment

Mockingbird January 20, 2015 Share January 20, 2015 Hopefully ABC realizes the problem was their scheduling and not the show itself. Unfortunately, common sense has never been ABC's strong point, which is a bummer because this show is massively enjoyable. 3 Link to comment
Rick Kitchen January 20, 2015 Share January 20, 2015 The only reason the show is on in the time slot it's on is because it's what they're filling time with till Once Upon a Time comes back. Link to comment

Since when is Cruella de Vil a fairy tale character? Or is Disney populating this show with only its own characters? 1 Link to comment
Rick Kitchen January 20, 2015 Share January 20, 2015 Disney reaches out to many other genres for Once Upon a Time. They have had Frankenstein, and an entire spinoff of Alice in Wonderland characters. Link to comment
blackwing January 22, 2015 Share January 22, 2015 I am sad, TV by the numbers lists this show as "Certain to be Cancelled". I think it works great as a mid-season limited series. At the very least, I hope there is a DVD released with lots of extras. Joshua Sasse said that there were lots and lots of botched scenes that could fill a gag reel. 2 Link to comment
Rick Kitchen January 23, 2015 Share January 23, 2015 How are they going to cancel something that's in the fourth week of its four week run? Link to comment

Bort January 23, 2015 Share January 23, 2015 Was there ever any indication that that was an option? It's always an option. Under the Dome was originally supposed to be a one-and-done season but it got such good ratings, it got renewed. Link to comment
SmithW6079 January 23, 2015 Share January 23, 2015 I was under the impression that this was a one-season "special limited series." That's why they aired two episodes back-to-back in a four-week block. Link to comment

Or is Disney populating this show with only its own characters? Well, I understand that ABC and Disney are linked so I am not surprised at the more recent (to me, at least) 'fairy tale' characters showing up on OUAT. That's when they started to lose me. legaleagle53 January 26, 2015 Author Share January 26, 2015 The Live + 3 ratings for the show's overall run are pretty encouraging. I prefer to hold out hope that we'll have a Season 2, preferably over the summer when there shouldn't be as much competition. 1 Link to comment
Morrigan2575 January 27, 2015 Share January 27, 2015 That would be nice. I think the networks should program these mini-seasons like Galavant and Agent Carter. Link to comment
ajsnaves January 27, 2015 Share January 27, 2015 They will probably have to give an answer soon, since this has to take a long time to produce. What with the song writing and choreography. SO maybe we will have an answer before May. Link to comment
legaleagle53 January 27, 2015 Author Share January 27, 2015 (edited) Yeah, I have to think that the powers in charge would have to take into account what Galavant faced as competition this month, starting with the playoffs and the Golden Globes the second and third weeks and the SAG Awards and the Miss Universe pageant last night. Even Once Upon a Time itself would have an uphill battle going against all that. Edited January 27, 2015 by legaleagle53 2 Link to comment

Irlandesa January 27, 2015 Share January 27, 2015 Was there ever any indication that that was an option? When it comes to network TV, I rarely believe them when they say something is a mini-series/limited series. As for Galavant, I believe it was originally picked up as a series and not a mini-series. Therefore, the writers/producers thought that they were writing a series with a potential for a second season like any other series, even if the order was reduced. Link to comment
TheRabbi January 4, 2016 Share January 4, 2016 A 0.9 rating for last nights premiere, which is rather disastrous. That is less than half of last season's premiere, and equal to the lowest rating that we've had, which was against the conference title game last year. Not looking good. Link to comment
Mabinogia January 4, 2016 Share January 4, 2016 We better at least get all of season 2, then combine them for DVDs, with bloopers, I will pay extra for bloopers. 1 Link to comment

Bruinsfan January 5, 2016 Share January 5, 2016 At least the 0.9 is 18-49 demo, not total ratings. It had 3.22 million viewers in all. Am I completely off base in thinking a period piece musical rom-com just might appeal more to older and younger crowds than young-to-middle-aged adults? 1 Link to comment
