For the record, I don't go around annoying fans of the show. Not in real life and I certainly don't go out of my way to find them online. I sometimes comment on some developments with my friends who watch, but I see the show as their thing and the books as mine. They're like cousins, there are differences and similarities and that's fine.

What a very healthy attitude you have there! Mind passing it around to a few other fandoms??

What happened? I dropped it in like season 3 because romcoms aren't fun when the couple is together and I certainly didn't care about family/baby stuff.

Danny became the most emotionally abusive guy... And for the longest time Mindy brushed it off, but then they broke up, started sleeping with each other again even though Danny was sleeping with other women and he didn't even tell Mindy... Obviously she found out and his reasoning for that was that "he's a man and men have needs".

The problem is that the show never straight up indicates how terrible his behavior is. He puts Mindy down every chance he gets, he tries to limit her by not wanting her to work etc. It's just horrible.

Well that turned me off ever watching that show.

Question:

How long after an episode of a TV show has aired would you consider information about the episode being posted  by a friend on social media to still be considered a spoiler? (assuming you are behind on the episodes, and said friend was unaware you were behind).

long story short: I posted about Laurel's death on my Facebook wall, about an hour or so after the episode finished airing on the east coast (I have very few west coast people and non of them watches Arrow to my knowledge). Unbeknown to me one of my friends was a few episodes behind which means I accidentally spoiled her death to him (If I had known he was behind I would have made sure to block the post from his eyes. He is also not usually on Facebook very often in general, so him seeing that post was literally pure bad luck for him).

He claims that amount of time still renders the plot point a spoiler.

I claim that once an episode aired it is no longer considered a spoiler.

what say you my smart crazy fabulous! Arrow friends?

Wow, I was considering getting shitty Hulu just to watch the new season. I love the show, but this summary kills has any interest I had in watching it. I get annoyed that tv shows are incapable of keeping couples together because they find it "boring".

A lot of Facebook groups I'm in consider 12 hours after it airs and then it's not a spoiler any longer. I personally know not to go online at all if I'm not watching live and want to be spoiler free.

I do agree that once the episode airs it's no longer a spoiler. But then again, there are still movies I've yet to see that I don't want spoiled for me. So I see both sides, I wouldn't want the movies spoiled, or the shows I let pile up (like Supergirl or Legends).

My personal rule is to wait a few days for Facebook spoilers a week at maximum if it's massive (ie: Lexa's death or who Zoom is). If you don't catch the episode before the next one airs I consider you shit out of luck.

I think once an episode airs in any time zones all bets are off, if people don't want to be spoiled then they need to stay off social media. :)

That said if it's a pretty big spoiler/plot point I do try to keep quiet/vague on social media.

I loved Cordy/Angel. That was pretty much my introduction to shipping and fandom. I still pay visits to my Purple Haven (Stranger Things) board.

I think C/A had amazing potential and I would love to pick Greenwalt's brain for his original S4 plan. As with most f*ucked up things to happen on TV...there's a BTS story

Wow, I was a fellow Stranger Things member as well and C/A was the only time I got really invested in a show. I still remember printing out the C/A postcards and mailing them into the network to get them to save Angel for season 5 and then they kicked off Charisma and brought in Spike and I never watched Angel again. I still haven't been able to re-watch that show or Buffy since then. Man, was I pissed. The all-male writers/producers treated Charisma horribly on that show (with the exception of Greenwalt).

As for other couples I've shipped, it's just been C/A, Veronica and Logan, Caroline/Klaus (I stopped watching both VD once Klaus spun off on a show without Caroline), Amy/Dan on Veep, and I am starting to ship the two main characters on Lucifier.

So, far I've only gotten one couple I've liked on a show - Oliver and Felicity.

True story: back in college I was yelled at for spoiling the ending of Jane Eyre.

Speaking of classics, I will say that I kinda wish someone had spoiled me for Titus Andronicus. I'd never seen/read the play before I went with a friend to see the movie adaptation, Titus, and although I was expecting death and tragedy and vengeance and all that, I was not really expecting, well, that.

I can understand if your friend is reading a classic and did not know but they really had no leg to stand on.

I'll just leave this here

I've seen a few media reviewers post their (spoilery) Arrow reviews online only a few hours after the episode airs.

I agree that after an episode airs publicly, it's no longer considered a spoiler.  However, out of consideration for likely readers, and depending on the circumstances, I'd assess each case on an individual basis.  For example, after BvS was released in theaters, I and others commenting on the movie here still used spoiler tags for major spoilers.

Thankfully, I never read or watched Titus Andronicus, but one of my favorite anime shows actually had an arc with a serial killer who was inspired by the play, and I had to google it... Holy shit, my eyes. This is just straight-up gorn.

I think you should wait for a few days if the spoiler is major, otherwise, eh. I personally tend to be spoiled for most big stuff on the shows I follow, and even if I'm not, it's usually not hard to predict it anyway (I saw Lexa and Lincoln's death from way before they happened, Lexa especially).

For me once it airs in the West Coast it's no longer a spoiler. If people don't want to be spoiled they should stay away from social media or anything that will be talking about the show.

As for movies, that's a little different. If the movie's been out for years I can't get mad at people for spoiling the movie when they feel like talking about it. If the movie is still in theaters then maybe be a little more considerate and don't talk about the movie in random places and keep it to the places that are to talk about the movie.

HUGE SPOILERS FOR TITUS ANDRONICUS AHEAD for those who, like me, thought it ended more or less like Hamlet, that is, just lots of dead bodies:

1. Midway through the two villains decide to rape the girl for the hell of it and then replace her hands with tree branches. The film has a disturbing shot of her raising up her tree branch hands.

2. So Titus, who sucks, decides to deal with this by baking the two rapists into a pie and serving the pie up to their mother at a banquet, WHO EATS IT, and then gets sick after Titus tells her what she just ate. Bonus points of disturbance in the film: Titus is played by Anthony Hopkins who is cheerfully dancing around in a chef's hat, and the film has huge quivering slabs of cooked human flesh which WHY.

Also, Titus kills the girl just because she's a rape victim, and half the cast is dead by the end.

It's interesting on a hey, I didn't realize that Shakespeare wrote this kinda thing level, and it's got some really funny lines, but I also ended up skipping dinner that night and avoiding meat for days afterwards.

If you want to bake somebody into a pie, at least do it like George Martin. I actually didn't realize it happened until I read the discussion online (although I didn't realize Theon got castrated too, although I did suspect something like that).

A co-worker got upset at me when I spoiled the ending of Moby Dick and what happened to the title character in Anna Karenina

Like, I don't get it? Those classics have been around for so long and are so well known the details should be considered common knowledge, right? Especially in the Internet age. The Titanic sank. Rosebud is a sled. Darth Vader is Luke's father. If you reach adulthood without knowing these things, that's your fault, not mine.

I just did a quick wikiread....that play is horrific, and yeah not something I expected from The Bard.

I'm frequently behind on every show I watch, so I try to spoiler tag stuff on here (I'm not on any social media so that's not an issue) because I don't want to ruin it for anyone else who is behind or plans to binge-watch at a later date.  I've been spoiled about a lot of shows accidentally, and it sucks.  Over on TWoP, someone posted a HUGE Homeland spoiler (regarding a death) in the Arrow forum a week or two after it aired.  Like, why?  It's very easy to simply spoiler tag stuff and not ruin it for someone who is behind, so I always tend to do that with big deaths and plot points, even if the show is several years old.

Could this be one of the Leading Lady Blind Items?

They already revealed one which was about Nicole Beharie, the bonkers leading lady has not been revealed and I've never heard anything her that would indicate she would fit that blind item.

Sounds like budget cuts/money issues and as with most network suits (looking at you CBS/Criminal Minds) the ladies are always the first to get the ax.

I don't watch Castle, but really, why would you continue the show after this? I guess Fillion just doesn't care much and ABC just wants to stay afloat no matter what. Poor fans.

Haven't read the whole article, but hope they won't kill her at least. There's been enough major female deaths lately (even if not on any show I watch).

I binge watched Castle recently, but gave up when I got to season 8. They should have ended it after season 7 tbh, so there really is no reason that they should carry on without Beckett. Yeah, the show is called Castle, but it was never really about him? The majority of Castle's character development was through Beckett, so I've no idea how they could carry on without her.

I'm hating that LL's death is being wrapped up with all these others into a meaningful trend. There does seem to be a trend, but LL is just a coincidence. She's the only one who was a terrible nonsensical character played by completely miscast actress.

I quit watching when he sabotaged her birth control. That's HORRIBLE. Controlling and creepy and just horrible in every way. And they played it for laughs.

Plus they had a baby! Like why do you need another one right away? (Admittedly I'm not into babies, BUT you don't need a new one when you have one already, right? Their baby was like six months old at that point.)

Okay, Castle without Beckett is where you can say there is no show without both of them. People watch that show for them, it's not exactly a groundbreaking procedural. We can just hope she doesn't die, I guess.

I was thinking Castle without Beckett might not be that good of a show. But I would still watch it and give it a chance. Fillion has chemistry & charisma with a lot of people so I could see them trying it. I hope they don't replace her with that new British PI though that was not an interesting combo. It's either gonna be great or flop big time.

The problem with the show now is that I can almost feel the tension between the actors in the Caskett scenes. I used to think their chemistry was compelling, but the way the writers are writing them now, I almost cringe when they put them in the same scene. They just don't know what to do with Cakett and it has lost all the chemistry it used to have.

Frankly, I wish they would make Kate recurring let her go to DC or somewhere ~ have Castle do his thing with boys & then she can come back every now and then. I don't want to see Kate killed or I don't want to watch Castle find a new love interest next season.

Honestly, I haven't watched it all season. At first it was due to that blind item about a big couple breaking up, which turned out to be them, and then even after they put them back together there were rumors that she would leave/be killed off after this season. So I decided to wait to see how this season ended to decide whether I wanted to watch it, or just have it end at season seven for me.

For me, the show has always revolved around the two of them working together, even before they were romantically together. I've never enjoyed the show as much when they split them apart for whatever reasons. I hated the Beckett in DC arc. So....no. To me the show was their relationship, whether that was the work relationship or romantic relationship or both, and I don't have any desire to continue with it if they're going to destroy that part of it. Especially if they kill her off, which sounds like a distinct possibility.

I'm just really hoping right now that they decide that it's a bad idea, and give the show a good ending. I'd heard earlier that multiple endings were going to be filmed, to allow for either possibility, but this latest news makes it sound like that didn't or will not happen.

What really makes Kate/Stana leaving at the end of this season and then the show continuing really nuts is it's already known it would end next season. Why are they going through the trouble?  I just don't get it.  What viewers do they think are going to even watch?

I thought the first half of this season of Castle was crap when they had Castle and Beckett apart. There were apparently a lot of complaints and the ratings went down.

So why did they get rid of Beckett and Lainie as "cost-cutting" but keep Alexis and Hayley, two perfect Mary Sues. I don't care if it does get renewed, I'm out.

Between this and Sleepy Hollow, it looks like female leads are disposable after all, not matter how much chemistry there is.

Oh I agree their dynamic was always what drew me to the show... But the current writers and showrunners can't write their dynamic. It's almost painful to watch. I just don't know what next season will bring.

Her being in DC is more preferable to me than her dead. I always thought she was supposed to be doing bigger things than working in the same precinct. A gig in the a government agency perhaps with Castle's step mom might be interesting. Because I can't see her walking away from her marriage and I don't want her dead. And I think ABC wants to make money and Castle with FIllion probably brings them profit as opposed to No Castle at all. So there are only a limited ways they can write out her character and give it the justice she deserves.

I'll be very surprised if the Castle ratings don't keep falling next season. A lot of people gave up with the Castle/Beckett separation.  Nathan Fillion mugging is not enough to get me to watch.

So what is the point of saving on Stana Katic's salary if fewer people are going to watch?  They should just let the show die now and leave us good memories.
