Sort of a dullish episode IMO.....

Joe Mascolo looked better and seemed to have more energy than he has in his recent scenes.  I know he's not too well so that was nice to see.

Otherwise it was mostly Mel and her Big Bag O'Moolah.  OH!  You all notice that she's been back in town for less than a day and her hair is already starting to look like Maggie's?  I bet she starts with the shoulder pads next.

I did enjoy Hope and Aiden - mostly because of the two actors, though.  Their storyline is constructed in such fits and starts and then these loooong nothing-much scenes.  Move it along, Show, or there really won't be much to see here.

And I see Melissa Archer is in town.  She wasn't onscreen for long but it seems that she's playing this character with less frenetic energy than she played Natalie.  I admit I wasn't much of a fan when she was on OLTL - at least not consistently.  Maybe she'll be better in this role?  It would be nice to see Eric get a little life - and a little something else.    Especially if it would cause Marlena's circuits to overload.

It appears that Auntie Abe is on Town Crier Duty.  He gazed soulfully into Rafe's eyelashes, just begging to comfort him.  Poor Rafe - it must be hard to be so pretty and so dumb at the same time.

Thanks folks for the background history on the Kristen/Eric/Nicole storyline.  I actually saw the episode back when the video was played at the wedding, but of course, at that time had no idea what was going on.

So do you all think the writers plan to put Nicole and Eric together, or are they moving on now.

Brief sidebar to Dandesun -- also love Pamela! My sister has been to her house and bought some of her vintage clothes. Aside from her rock and roll tours of the LA area that she does sometimes, she also has closet sales or something. Very cool woman.

I was such a fan of JJ and Paige -- still am, but  there's no way they'll get out of this snake pit with Eve with their relationship alive. I hate that they did this to JJ, and I'd rather they just get on with the implosion rather than draw it out painfully.

PSA: Tonight at 8 pm, Camilla Banus has a role in Wally Lamb's "Wishin' and Hopin'" premiere on Lifetime.

  • Love 2

Oh Lifetime where every soap actor goes when Hollywood basically wants nothing to do with them. Soap actors for the most part will only get work hosting shows (Alison Sweeney), Lifetime Movies (Camila Banus, Michelle Stafford, Alexandra Shipp, Christian Leblanc), Hallmark Channel (Sharon Case, Adrienne Frantz), Prime time shows (top of the totem pole for soap actors - Michael Graziadei, Billy Miller, Michael Muhney, Thad Luckinbill) or voice acting (Christel Khalil). Eric Braeden was in Titanic but does anyone really remember him in that film?

I remember Christel Khalil thought she was gonna make it big when she left Y&R, came crawling back to Y&R in just a few short months.

I agree.  I don't know what the writers were thinking.  I remember years and years ago on AMC they had Tad have an affair with Marian while he was also in a relationship with her daughter, Liza.  But those were completely different character types than JJ and Paige, and even Eve.  No comparison at ALL.  Tad was a charming but thoughtless player.  JJ is a sweetheart, not the type for this at all.  Liza was a mean girl, which Paige certainly isn't.  Marian was driven by lust and booze, again, not comparable to Eve's motivations, whatever the hell they were.

I'm usually not much of a fan anymore of young actors, but both JJ especially, and Paige, too, showed such promise as a couple.  Now, as you say, how do they come back from this?

Show should realize that they have gold in the actor who plays JJ and give him a decent storyline, not this warmed over pile of whatever.

  • Love 6

I found myself annoyed by Eve during the JJ/Eve sex-fest because she kissed him twice and he, as the younger person, seemed to recognize the weirdness of it for a few seconds, but she wouldn't pull back to think "hey, um, I've just made a pass at my daughter's boyfriend! D'oh, I should be ashamed of myself!" I don't know if JJ would have actually slept with her if she hadn't been so aggressive with her desire to kiss him.  I guess I am blaming her (the woman) more than him,  but in this instance, I feel it is somewhat warranted because she's the older person and should know better.  He's probably over 18, but I don't think he's started university yet, and certainly doesn't have a degree yet like his sister does. Reverse the genders and I don't think people would go so easy on Eve (well, outside of Salem, I mean. I'm sure when Jennifer finds out she'll turn everyone against Eve, if they aren't already, but I see that as more of  a Horton clique-y thing rather than based on having principles about not sleeping with daughter's boyfriends. When Adrienne finds out I figure she'll start screaming about Eve hurting Jennifer rather than contemplating how strange it might be for someone to take a sexual interest in their daughter's boyfriend).

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I when I looked at the scenes, I couldn't help but notice that JJ's mind didn't seem to go towards sleeping with Eve until she kissed him the second time and started rubbing all over him. It wasn't like those stupid Lifetime movies you see where  a young student becomes obsessed with his hot female teacher and stalks her all over the place until she finally relents when they're in close proximity with each other because the hormones become all out of joint. No, this was the older lady suddenly sticking her lips on her daughter's boyfriend out of the blue and pushing it hard. I don't even think Brook on B and B wound up in bed with her daughter's boyfriends this way -- the boyfriends seem to get the same stupid idea as Brooke at the same time, but I don't think Brooke got the idea first like Eve did with JJ. No wonder Kassie de Paiva didn't want to tell her husband about the sex scenes she would have with JJ.

I don't "blame" Eve or JJ. They both made a stupid mistake. It was not the finest moment for either one. And, actually, the show is portraying it as more important to JJ than Eve (he's the one who keeps having the flashbacks.) Don't get me wrong, I think it's a stupid, stupid storyline to set up external angst for a teen couple the writers don't seem to know how to write for; not to mention it's a complete waste of KDP's talents.

And to be honest, this is one of those times when I can't really lay the blame for anything at the feet of the characters, mainly because it makes no sense for anyone involved. This is all on the writers.

ETA: I probably feel this way mainly because I have no investment in any of these characters or their relationships. I'm watching for KDP; and I think CM is a good actor. That's about it.

That's true. If this were another show, I'd probably be more mad at Eve. But since this is Days where everyone is required to do something stupid....

I still can't help my Abigail-hate though.

Poor Rafe - it must be hard to be so pretty and so dumb at the same time.

Poor Brady and Eric to.

Tad was a charming but thoughtless player.

Tad the Cad was definitely a different type of character than JJ is supposed to be.  Tad was a player and a cheater.  He cheated on all of his wives, and when Tad finally fell in love, and married the love of his life (Hilary and Dixie), he cheated on them to.  Then the one time Tad didn't cheat, his history (something the writers on Days can't be bothered to pay attention with their characters) came back to haunt him, and everyone believed he had cheated when he didn't.

  • Love 2

Poor Brady and Eric to.

Poor every man on this show, except maybe nu-Chad. But that's only because he hasn't been on the show long enough to do anything stupid, and because it seems some of his air time has been taken up by Abigail and Ben having sex.

Just as I feared, it seems like Abifail is getting even more screen time now that Sami and EJ are gone. Her plastic mannequin is getting a lot of airtime too for some stupid reason.

It would do my heart great if with these screen times that there is a character that will finally tell AbiFail to STFU and really lay into her. Sami was too tamed around Jar Jar during the affair and this coming from a woman who punched/slapped people left, right, and center ask Nicole, Carrie, Will, Rafe, and EJ. They dwindled Sami down so Jar Jar won't suffer Sami's physical wrath.

There's Anne but they're having Anne back down from the Devil's spawn whenever that heifer gives Anne a look. So if there are no scenes of someone chewing AbiFail out or punching the shit out of her, I'm not interested. Too many people in Salem are already licking her ass.

  • Love 3

I think Kristen thought removing or alienating Eric from the priesthood would embarrass Marlena and John, but ....they don't really seem to be aware of what he did for a living. Strangely, Sami was the only one who seemed extremely proud to have a priest in the family. I'm not convinced they had an opinion on Eric's vocation either way. (I don't know if I'd be excited to see a son go into the priesthood but Marlena seemed neither proud nor disappointed. Meanwhile, does John know Eric exists?)

  • Love 2

I thought she did it out of hate for Marlena and Jawn and as someone said earlier, Krazy had a temporary breakup with the Dumb Lug and needed something to do.

RoboMar expressed respect for Eric's preisthood several times.  I didn't quite get the idea that it was enough to make her crack her paint by moving  her face, or weep and rust, but she said things like "Eric, the priesthood (insert MarBot Gasp App here) was so important to you!"  On some level she understood things her favorite kids valued, unlike her complete disregard for Sami's life until the week she left.

For some reason Chad finds her interesting. and they glammed her up big time despite her PT salary, which is probably pretty good.  I wonder if Kate's still paying it.

It elevates her a little bit from Rafe, but not by much. However, Rafe's writing has become a little more interesting as if he's grown a few brain cells.

Maybe it's just me but at least Days acknowledged what broke them up with J and R confronting people.  Finally.  Not so often there is an actual conclusion.

  • Love 1

Chad is being written as manipulative of Jordan for no other reason than to up his Dimera cred; the writers want him to be "bad" and "dangerous" in order to recreate him as an anti-hero/plot contriver in the way of his predecessors in the family. I think we could keep track of Dimera Demerit Points every time Chad does something motivelessly shady. And anytime he gives the new Sex Couch a workout. Double points for hiding a gun or smashing glassware in the fireplace, of course.

  • Love 3

I'm a little confused and I wonder if you guys could help me out. I am seeing talk on this forum and another one like it has come out that Chad is just using or manipulating Jordan. The other site has it that Chad in manipulating Jordan for Stefano (i.e. to get to Clyde, maybe). The thing is, I've watched everything and I haven't seen any evidence of this on the show yet. Is this from spoiler information or did I miss a key scene?

  • Love 1

Did spoilers actually say Chad was going to manipulate Jordan, or was that something people simply assumed because Abigail was involved? Chad seems to be playing his reactions to Jordan fairly decisively.

Someone needs to tell me why Ben seems in love with Chad though. I feel like he's sublimating his attraction to Chad through Abigail.

Edited by bantering
  • Love 1

It would be more interesting if Chad just liked Jordan for Jordan, however, the writers seemed determine to have the Dimeras always involved in some lame scheme whether it makes sense or not.

Kristen drugging and raping Eric to get back at Marlena was despicable on so many levels.  Besides the person Kristen should have been angry at 15 years ago was John.

Sami had the right idea, until the idiot writers cut it short.  Sami having EJ thrown in jail, taking his company and house was an interesting revenge plan aimed at the person who deserved it.

  • Love 2

I remember people speculating that Chad would use Jordan to get back at Abigail, but....I didn't really get how that would do anything to Abigail. The worse that can happen is that Jordan will get upset, and Abigail will be super excited that a man tried to wreck her current best friend's life  over her. Abigail would take that as a compliment -- she wouldn't react like the rest of us would. Or even Sami (even Sami has looked at EJ funny a couple of times when he's messed with Nicole, and they were never even close to being best friends.).

Okay, I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but I'm with Adrienne on this Paul and Sonny issue.

Sonny is so going to regret not telling Will about Paul. He said that Will never really asked questions about his exes, but they had a confrontation at the beginning of their relationship because of Lucas and then I assume it was off the table.

I wonder if Will would have liked to know more, even though Sonny is not obligated to share the information. In my experience, most people share stuff about their past, especially people they were pretty serious about that had met their family or been engaged to, etc and it seems to me that Sonny ( if this was real life) would have at least mentioned Paul to Will in an abstract way, especially because of his coming out issues. But what the heck, let's go with it for the sake of drama.

In a way, Sonny is putting Paul's need for secrecy above Will needing to know the truth for the sake of their marriage. And that's why the pipe is gonna burst big time when Will finds out on his own. What happened to Sonny and Will never keeping secrets again?

I know Sneasel is self-absorbed,but if he knew about Paul he would be on the next Red Eye to Salem because of his insecurity.

Then there is the matter of Sonny needing more money. I hope to heaven that he doesn't get a cash injection (among other things) from Paul. That is just a recipe for disaster and a way for Paul to stick around longer and become more involved with Sonny. I wish Adrienne knew about the money so she would tell Victor cos I'm afraid Sonny is on the precipice of losing everything he's worked for for a closeted guy.

And I just wanna shake Paul and tell him that he and Sonny didn't last because of HIM. I know he was in a tough position but that's life. There are women that give up careers when they become pregnant or give up careers to support husbands. It's not possible to have everything. Some people are lucky enough to have everything at once, others are forced to make choices.

Anyway, seeing Paul confide in Abigail just rubbed me the wrong way because I just see two homewreckers who think people in committed relationships are fair game. Abby is already jealous of Jordan and Chad and she's got her hands full with Ben. And I know lots of people would like Will to get a taste of what Sami went through, but if it's Abigail dishing up the 'I told you so' to justify herself I will lose it.

  • Love 5

Oh, and it's such an anvil that Sonny says he would never out anyone. I'm guessing Sneasel outs Paul, either on purpose or by accident and Sonny gets all upset and runs straight to Paul. Gag me.

It would be so juicy if Paul found out he couldn't play and decided to make a play for Sonny and framed Sneasel for outing him just to stir the pot between WilSon.

But in all seriousness, it would be so typical of DOOL to have Sonny be the one keeping secrets for an ex and cheating and still come out smelling like a rose while the natives go after Will with pitchforks. I'll bet Marlena even offers Paul free therapy. Oh wait... This is a all sounding so familiar....

  • Love 2

In a way, Sonny is putting Paul's need for secrecy above Will needing to know the truth for the sake of their marriage.

But isn't the current idea that Paul came to town just for the surgery and won't be in Salem forever, let alone when Will supposedly comes back?  In that case, I think it's not exactly need-to-know information.

Oh is that what Mel did, counted cards and came back in in disguise and took money. Yawn, that's over before it even started. I knew it would end up being a lame ass story or lame ass reason. Boring.

Nobody at that hospital works and Grimace doesn't bother to change during PT, dress and heels as always, Jar Jar just being nosy and looking terrible as usual. Judgy Jenn is back in town and why isn't she at work? Lazy bitch. I see why Anne gets fed up with Judgy Jenn. I don't take Grimace seriously as a PT, she sounds like a joke and don't believe that someone being on the run could get into medical school, not believable at all.

I'm really hoping Chad has some revenge plan for Jar Jar, especially with that, "not get caught" line he said as something he learned. How about not getting caught in killing Jar Jar Binks.

Since when is Rafe and Jar Jar friends Chad? When do they hang out? When do either of them text each other? When do they hang out at The Pub or TBD? When do they talk about each other? Where was Rafe doing the whole EJ/Jar Jar affair? Did he comfort Jar Jar like the rest of Salem and we just missed those scenes? Nice try writers, nice try on getting all characters to be friends with Jar Jar Binks.

Oh yes Dingy Hippie's apartment, where everyone in Salem should go to solve all their damn problems. Y'all seen how quickly that issue got resolved, not only is Dan the 2nd Coming in Salem but his house is better than a psychiatrist's office, better than going to a church, it's like the place to be whenever you have a problem. Not too long ago Dingy and Nicole solved their problem when Dan forced her to go this house so they can talk about their "friendship".

That Serena chick, I'm classing her in with Mel for weird facial expressions. Her mouth is distracting, it's like she's straining just like Judgy Jenn's neck. Her mouth is rather distracting, might wanna work on that.

I'm wondering if Sonny is going to go to Paul for the money he needs. Would be bad if he did because I'm sure Victor would be more than happy to lend or give him the money. If Sonny goes to Paul, they gonna make Sonny look rather stupid when he has Victor.

  • Love 3

Shockingly, Adrienne wasn't full of shit today. I get the impression Paul isn't going to take no for an answer so Sonny needs to tell Will so they can put up a united front.

STFU Abifail and mind your own business. Go hump your mannequin and leave Paul alone.

I wish Adrienne knew about the money so she would tell Victor cos I'm afraid Sonny is on the precipice of losing everything he's worked for for a closeted guy.

I'm tired of people who have rich family members acting like they're broke and struggling. Victor would gladly write Sonny a check, especially if it meant he didn't have to turn to Paul for help.

Melanie is another person who needs to learn how to use her resources. Her ass is running around Salem with some raggedy ass goons chasing her when she could have just called Victor and had them locked in a foreign prison.

How is the hospital still in operation when no one but Dan ever works?

  • Love 5

Sonny is going to unravel bigtime, he's already getting flustered. And when the time comes, everyone will blame the absentee husband and the financial strain. It annoys me when characters don't use the resources available to them. There's Victor and Brady and Justin and Adrienne and Marlena and Lucas and Kate.

I know Sonny is very independent, but if he borrows money from Paul, it just has bad idea written all over it.

I know Will is incommunicado, but he deserves to know that Sonny is digging them into a big financial hole. I don't know what kind of marital contract they have but Sonny should consult Will if he has to borrow money in general, never mind from an ex.

Sneasel is so oblivious, he doesn't realize he's causing drama by not communicating. Sonny on the other hand, has taken so many wrong turns over the last few days and he's just choosing to ignore all the warnings he's getting, which is worse in my opinion.

I'd believe BOllie had unacknowledged feelings for Even Stupider Chad, too, except that I'm sure the writers don't know how to spell "sublimating."

I'm no longer invested enough in Sonny's marriage to Whatshisface to care all that much whether Sonny violates his vows or Paul gets outed in the SneaselBlog, or Adrienne is proven right. Wait -- scratch that last one. If ever Adrienne were proven right, I'd be shocked. That's not going to change. But this conflict, like so many others on the show, has been cobbled out of nothing real, too quickly and too remote from the characters' nature and history. ("Oh, Will hasn't been answering his phone for a whole week! Other people are asking me how he's doing! Woe is me.")

Oy gevalt.

Yeah, Chad, for reasons I can't begin to fathom, seems genuinely interested in Jordan. If he's manipulating her, I missed it, too!

Until today when he said he didn't want to get caught.

I sure hope Sonny doesn't go to Paul for money.  C'mon, Vic's checkbook is just sitting there.  And if not Victor, Brady.

They need to give Melanie a gambling addiction, that would be a good storyline.

  • Love 2

Seriously Sonny is contemplating borrowing money from Paul?  Not only does this married couple have parents with "moderate money", they both have incredibly rich grandparents (Victor and Kate), who have been shown to bend over backwards even commit murder for this pair.  Yes, let's take money from the ex-boyfriend who definitely wants to wreck my marriage.

  • Love 5

Will and Sonny have joined the other men in Salem in the to stupid to live category.  These two dimwits have parents and grandparents that are willing to kill, hire hitmen, poison people, toss them in the river, whatever it takes, and yet they still both believed shooting someone themselves was the way to handle a problem.

Why go to Victor or Kate for money when they could do something stupid?  If Plan A is dumb, any person in Salem will choose the alternate even dumber Plan B.

  • Love 5

I think Sonny should just stop hanging around Paul, if the temptation is that strong for him.

This kind of storyline might have worked okay a couple of years from now, but it feels too early for Sonny to get the urge to cheat. It's just weird to me because Sonny and Will have only been married for 7 months. I didn't get it when EJ cheated when he finally got Sami to agree to marry him, and I don't get it now when Sonny and Will have been barely together for a year as a married couple. MAYBE if they had dated for a decade like (insert celebrity couple X) and marriage was just a final formality for legal purposes this kind of cheating might make some sense to me (I suppose I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop with Brangelina but they're probably too mature in age and too rich at this stage in their lives to want to deal with the nightmare of a colossal divorce over assets),  but it feels too early to be over the honeymoon period.

Is it law that Kate Mansi be on every fucking day?  I am so sick of Abigail.  If it's not her weird, smug face then it's her nastiness and hypocrisy.  And if they waste smokin' hot Chad on her then I'll be pretty damn angry.  They did so right by casting Billy Flynn, and they'll just blow it all to hell if they pair him with her.  Abby and Ben need to go away.  Or die.  Whatever.

I'm very glad the Melanie skulking around story came to a quick resolution.  If this was GH, it would have either A) dragged on for months and months, or B) been dropped completely and then concluded several weeks later on the head writer's twitter account.  Now they need to make Melanie and Theresa friends, because Theresa needs one and it might mean less screen time devoted to the insufferable Abigail.

It's so nice to have Melissa Archer back on screen.  I'm looking forward to her and GV together.

Sonny is so much more interesting without Will.

Is this from spoiler information or did I miss a key scene?

There was a scene recently (don't remember when) of Chad talking to Stefano about manipulating Jordan for some reason.  My memory sucks and I was busy at the time, but think it had something to do with Clyde?

  • Love 5

As I've said before, this plot would have been soapier if it had happened before they got married. When Sonny married Will, he made promises to both Ari and Will, so this whole thing is going to more awkward than normal.

In any case, Sonny was very keen to settle down with Will. Now, Paul is making it sound like Sonny would have dragged any old guy to the altar to fulfil his need to be married. Sonny himself said that with Will he can be open, something he could never have with Paul. Is Sonny trying to say that that is the only reason he ever bothered to put up with Will and his baggage? So, if Paul was out and proud, that's where Sonny would be instead?

And Adrienne today saying that Sonny never really allowed himself to deal with his feelings for Paul? If I was Will I would be seriously concerned that when Sonny came to Salem three years ago he just made me his latest project cos he obviously has a thing for closet cases. Then again, I am insecure by nature.

If I was Will in this scenario and the truth came out, I would tell Sonny to go be with his closet case and to not expect me and my daughter to be waiting while he figures things out. If Sonny is that affected by Paul that he can't even go near the hospital, he's still got it bad.

It would have been more realistic to have Will be tempted since Will hasn't had sex with another guy. To have him question settling down early. It didn't make sense when EJ cheated after he finally got Sami and it doesn't make sense that Sonny would cheat on Will now. Cheating itself is not OOC, it's the circumstances around it that need to make sense.

Either way, I'm looking forward to Sonny mucking things up. Paul is not Abby, let's see if the Salemites make excuses for him like they did for her. Depending on how this goes, I think Club TBD is either going to be very empty or very full with people lining up to lecture Sonny.
