I am a bit confused on something and I admit that I FF some characters but how did Vivian set this up? It's a stretch for me to believe Sonny just so happened to download a dating app and chose the one guy on her payroll. Wouldn't an "accidental meeting" have worked better?

Vivian and Leo had never met face to face till yesterday.  I have a feeling that the bartender was on Vivian's payroll, too, and steered Sonny to the app.  Of course, how could they possibly have guaranteed that Sonny would have swiped right?

IIRC, MBB kinda negged one guy Sonny was considering and then encouraged him to swipe right on Leo.   I really, really want him to be involved in this.  If Leo's secretly the guy he's dating that he mentioned to Sonny, even better!

Further to the discussion on how quickly story lines are moving along, Chloe's admirer/stalker has already introduced himself to her.

And Will is already stopping to look at a picture of the family he had, just as he's moved on with Paul.  I'm sure his memories will be back soon.

I think as was mentioned above, Leo is going to fall for Sonny.  I'm not familiar with the actor, and I didn't really care for him yesterday, but I liked him more today. I don't doubt he will develop feelings for Sonny, just as, (was mentioned upthread) Paul's investigation learns about his connection to Vivian.   But it would be soapier if, as TeeVee329 posted if Leo is the gay dating the bartender.  Poor Sonny, though.

I didn't see today - it's just some random dude we've never met before?

We saw him one day last week, or whenever it was Lucas and Chloe went skating. He was lurking in the shadows around Doug's Place as they left, and was on the  phone telling someone that Chloe was back in Salem.

I like Kate's curly hair.

Gee, Kate, you could always move out if you don't want to live under the same roof as Vivian.

I read a post earlier today where somebody was wondering if it was Kate who hired the guy who's following Chloe.

Yep. Afterglow only.

How does Vivian know about Sonny's needs?

Oh, jee, Leo is stupid.

It's good to see two female characters who are actually friends.

Why is Kate hiring Paul, and not John?

Sleeping together on the second date is not "taking it slow", Will.

I'm hoping Eve sticks to her guns.

"What the hellll Raphaelllll?!!"

Julie, I love you. Never forgive Rafe. Never let it go.

I'm totally going to be shouting that at the screen regularly now.

The Show is definitely making better use of Doug and Julie these days. It felt like they only popped up in the past for random events, whereas now they have a nice established purpose on the back burner and can chime in whenever it is appropriate. What can I say, I have a soft spot for vets.

The Stefan stuff is beyond disgusting. I could at least maybe deal with it if they had really done an excellent job of establishing his obsession with Abigail or fixation on her. I mean come on guys, with Deimos you were able to pull some cockamamie story out of your butts about how Nicole looked like his ex-lover or whatever to justify pairing them up for nearly a year. But with Stefan...? At what point did he fall for Abigail? If there was a spark there on New Years Eve I must have missed it.

You have to hand it to Ron, though, for finding a way to have Abigail cheat on Chad with another one of his male relatives but still give her the right to scream and yell about it as though she was the victim.

When I get bored watching this show sometimes I fantasize about how much more entertaining it would be if it at least had the money behind it soaps used to have in the 90s. Imagine if that restaurant inside the Hong Kong hotel was really beautifully laid-out with hanging ceiling lamps and uniforms for the wait staff and maybe some Benihana Style food prep happening in the background. It wouldn't make the story any more interesting but it would certainly distract me from the plodding developments. Ron, you do realize in real life if someone say, breaks into a house and threatens to punch the owner or is caught carrying drugs in a foreign country, it takes more than a magical visit from some lawyer to a police station to get the whole thing overturned, right?

And I thought Shawn Douglas was working for a private Securities firm, not the Hong Kong Police Department...

Nice to see that Chloe and Eve seem to be friends. I did enjoy Eve putting Brady in his place.

Kate's suit was good and not cheap looking.

No idea what Vivian's plan is.

Chloe's admirer or admirer henchman identified himself?

Still don't see Will as some sort of beat reporter. Going to talk to your former mother in law probably was a good idea, but you would really think of maybe joining a radio station or some sort of online news outlet, if that is your interest. He and Paul seem 'right now' but don't really seem 'right' for each other.

Paul and Will banged it out on the second date. And they totally would have done it before then, but a) their casual hookup was interrupted by Sonny and b) their first date got thwarted by some divorce papers. That seems like some pretty realistically gay coupling ... at least in my experience.  ;o)

Ha!  Vince1178, agreed. that's the most realistic thing I've seen so far in their storyline.  For me, at their age, I would have called that "taking it slow", too.

And as to the last thing... there is no way in hell a network show, daytime or prime time, is going to get into that. I wish they would, even in hints or passing mentions,  b/c the reality of penetrative gay sex is that it's not spontaneous. There is prep. My assumption for the purpose of this situation is that Will googled and watched A LOT of porn and did what he needed to do. But then again... the boys (Freddie, Guy and Christopher) have all said that it's obvi that they're all 3 verse so who knows what happened how.

And omg, I read way too much gay romance fiction and have way too many male gay friends. I'm not a gay man and I just straight(ish) girl-splained gay sex to you guys and gals. I apologize.

Really?  Hmmmm..... that's one scenario.  But only one, only one......

I did have a moment yesterday when I wondered if they would dare make Leo bisexual. It would be really interesting to have a character that could romantically move around the canvas without the constraints of being attracted to only one gender—especially if that character is a gold-digging schemer.

Isn't this what Y&R planned to do with Adam originally? It seemed that his attraction to Rafe (what is with giving the Latino guys Irish/Scottish nicknames, anyhow?) was later backtracked/explained away as gold-diggery and schemer-ism, and not actually, y'know, that gay stuff.

(I wonder how many bisexual characters it would take on a soap canvas before critical sexytimes mass were reached, and finally everyone in town had basically slept with everyone else?)

Isn't Rafe a diminutive of Raphael?

Well, yes, but my understanding is that it's not a diminutive natural to Spanish, and not really used in Spanish-speaking countries (though Raf might be). "Rafe" happens to be the traditional pronunciation of the name Ralph in the British Isles.)

This Leo guy is an okay actor - I enjoy the way he side-eyes Viv - but watching him flirt with Sonny is painful. I'm not feeling them as a couple at all.

I've been thinking that maybe seeing Will regain his memory and eventually reunite with Sonny would in fact make me happy, but now I'm sure it won't and I just want Freddie off the show. The Wilson that we once had is so long gone. The best case scenario is for both Paul and Sonny to leave town so that Will can actually have a storyline involving someone else for a change.

I didn't watch the Patch/Kayla scenes, but I could tell they were special even through fast forward lol.

Claire was heinous today. I don't understand what they're going for with her. Also, her arms are scary thin. I don't know how they don't just break off.

Eve and Brady are one of two, maybe three current, new-ish romantic pairings that don't feel forced as hell imo. But at the same time, I don't want Eve to ever forgive Brady.

Kayla and Steve today were wonderful.  I got a little misty too.  I love what the actors can do when they get anything to work with at all.

This is unlike certain other actors on the show.  I don't understand the fascination with Abigail as a character or as an actress.  She's not compelling, and the continual praising of her to the high heavens by a wide array of characters combined with her ongoing front-burner status makes me actively loathe her where she would typically be a character I could just ignore.  Which brings me to this awful DID plotline.  Every time I see "Gabby" on my screen, I cringe and fast-forward.  It's bad acting, bad dialogue, and it's beyond ridiculous.  Maybe Marci Miller could have done something with an original personality to make her own, but I don't find her convincing at all as any impression of Gabi.  I feel like she's attempting to be "feisty" and it's really not coming off well.  On the other hand, I actually liked what Marci Miller did with the "Dr. Laura" personality, though I don't see any real resemblance to the actual person from the personality.  Between showing some inkling of intelligence and shutting Stefan down cold, there was a character there who could actually interest me beyond the milquetoast Abby.

The Stefan angle is also awful.  He's already lacking in character development, and this is making him come across as a truly horrible person beyond simple ruthlessness or whatever he is trying to be sold as.  Are we supposed to be rooting for him and "Gabby" in some way?  Because I know that will never be possible for me--they're both awful on many levels and this insta-romance makes negative sense.  Others have already mentioned that going the Nash route from OLTL would have worked much better for Stefan, and I couldn't agree more.  The only way this could ever work would be if Stefan didn't know she was mentally ill, and that ship has more than already sailed.

This is actually what I came on to say too!  If the Chloe secret admirer plot starts off separately and ties into Theresa somehow, I will be impressed.  At least I will until it goes off the rails in some fashion.  I do think it would be a great way to potentially pull in Eve as Chloe's friend and fellow music-lover, and the fact that the ominous and wealthy admirer is from Mexico could be linked to the guy who ushered Theresa back off.  It's a less expected route, so here's hoping there's a good plot waiting.

The Kayla and Patch scene. Wow! Soap opera angst at its best with the two very best actors on this show.

My heart was broken. I loved them, but hate what is happening. I also thought John and Marlena were solid support for Steve and Kayla this episode. Too bad so many lightweights were in the same episode. Their blandness really showed.

I FF'd through the Steve and Kayla removing the patch part. The new shades look pretty cool. However, Steve will need time to work with someone who can help him navigate through life with his blindness. Steps, stairs, sidewalks, going to the grocery store, perhaps learning Braille, if he wishes to.

How convenient that Chloe has a Mexican admirer who has a lot of money. So she got some flowers after a show - too bad she didn't remember them.

Hope both Claire and Ciara lose to someone else in that stupid contest.  Both will bring out a massive dose of entitlement, superiority, and ugliness if they win.

I wish it was someone other than John and Marlena providing support though, since John is the reason this is happening in the first place. Marlena looked so shocked when Steve came tapping out of the hospital room. John seems to not really care one way or the other. and Kayla was really shooting daggers at John earlier in the episode. Hope needs to get back from Hong Kong. she and Kayla have always been close and she and Steve have the very strong Bo connection.

I agree, Steve and Kayla were magnificent.  I ff'd through the rest, with the exception of Eve and Brady.  Well done by those two as well.

To say I don't care about Ciara or this contest doesn't begin to register my antipathy to both.

The Steve & Kayla scenes were magnificent especially when she was taking off the Patch (reminded me a lot of when she did it the first time after he got hurt & how afraid he was for her to do it) - they are just magnificent - while I was okay with John & Marlena being there to help - I really wish it had been Bo & Hope instead.

Ugh Claire really is full of herself isn't she?    I really hope she loses just to wipe that smug look off her face.    Am still enjoying Ciara & Tripp.

Really hope that Eve doesn't forgive Brady anytime soon - her giving him grief as been magnificent.

I am enjoying Chloe & Lucas - but really weird about her admirer - would be really interesting if he does end up tying back to Theresa.

The reason that whole bi/gay Adam Newman thing was dropped was b/c of the actor who didn't want to play gay. then they replaced him and it altered b/c of timing. I think. Michael Muhoney was amazing as Adam.

The Steve and Kayla scenes were played so beautifully by these two great actors, the rest of the episode paled in comparison..  Steve's trying to be strong and joking away his worry and then he just starts crying when Kayla removed the patch--DAMN!!  And I like that John's still as guilt-ridden as he is and Marlena's trying to be supportive while not defending John's horrible actions.  All of their scenes resonated with each characters histories--their scenes can not be praised enough.

Onto the unpleasant Ciara/Claire scenes and I also hope neither chick wins because they are both way too smug and entitled and they both need a dose of reality, especially Ciara.  She's very good at telling off Claire but she's guilty of the same thing--this is a person who fully expected Theo to dump Claire once Theo learned Ciara still liked him and now she fully expects Tripp to choose her over Claire because of their new relationship.  It doesn't even occur to her that Tripp might not prefer her over Claire, and when it's clear he isn't going to be bullied by her, Ciara stomps out of the room.  And that's not the actions of an entitled person?

I like the idea of re-doing the Bella magazine contest, but I don't want either Ciara or Claire to win.  Neither girl is root-able.   Nu-nu-Ciara is better than nu-Ciara, but still not all that likable.  And Claire is so smug with her belief that because of her "talent" she should win.  Wonder who TPTB thinks the viewers wants to win?

Oh, man. My heart is nothing much more than an icy lump of resentment, but Steve and Kayla really brought the feels. Nicely done, old friends. Nicely done indeed.

I thought the scenes with Tripp and Ciara were a little off. It didn't really make a lot of sense for Ciara to be mad after Tripp basically said a) he thinks she is hot(ter than Claire), b) he wants to be with her because she's beautiful inside and out, and c) he's a woke millennial who is not into objectifying the ladies. That's pretty swoon-worthy stuff if you ask me.

I feel bad for Chloe. On one hand she's got a creeper sending her flowers. On the other, she has Lucas, who won't even let her speak for herself. Both of these dudes (and Stefan, for that matter) could take a lesson from Tripp on how to treat women in 2018.

This scene made me wonder just what it is that Ciara does all day. Does she work? Go to school? Volunteer? Just how does she spend her day?

At least we have seen Claire working on her music, volunteering at the hospital and being a waitress.

Along those lines, what does Tripp do? Is he still going to be a doctor or is he working with Steve?

I seem to have missed just what it is these kids are doing with their lives - aside from snarking on each other and fighting among themselves.

I think it's that Tripp hasn't specifically stated that he prefers Ciara to Claire--Ciara needs to hear the actual words said outloud.  He may think she's beautiful but that doesn't mean he doesn't think Claire is pretty too and Ciara needs to hear the words that he likes her over Claire.  At least that's what I'm getting from Ciara's angrily stomping out of the scene after realizing she can't strong-arm Tripp into doing her bidding.

Yes, excellent question, what does Ciara do all day?  Claire and Tripp both have jobs as servers at the cafe in the Horton Square and I think Claire's still going to school.  Tripp already has a degree and the show should have him working at the hospital in some capacity.

Tripp should never be allowed near the hospital or patients after the way he almost killed Hope and tried to destroy Kayla's medical career out of revenge for something that didn't even happen.  He's a danger to everyone around him.

I am currently not watching the show because I've been rolling my eyes so much at it that I would like to keep them.  But I do read spoilers and recaps and the thing that's getting me about this Pill nonsense is how there really hasn't been any opposition to them.  Everyone is cool about them being together.  The one person who was opposed to it was played as a villain.  There really should be some side-eyes going on.

And paul is such a dummy.  He is going to get hurt and I am not going to feel bad for him.  At all.
