S18.E15: Cheat and Retreat

David has checked out and I was actually glad he got up and went back to watching baseball.  Michelle is making it all about her and her suspicions about him and Madison, and I'm sick and tired of hearing about it.

Guys watching this would be wary of dating her because, God forbid, he comes home late from work, and she grills him.  She would probably demand that he put a tracker on his phone.

Michelle's "gut suspicion" is probably producer intervention, right? Like the "caught cheating" question during the game. I'm annoyed that she dragged Allen into it by grilling him about Madison. Does it suck that David and Madison aren't telling the truth? Yes, but Michelle shouldn't accuse people of lying just because they don't respond to her statements the way she expects them to.

Finally, a faint glimmer of chemistry between Karla and Juan. Any minute now, they'll give in to their passion and exchange a light peck on the cheek. And who let Juan bring a guitar?

Wow. My heart is broken for Allen. 💔 It took him so long to accept what Michelle was saying even when she was practically spelling it out for him. But now it's just hit him like a ton of bricks. Glad he's getting out of there to be home with Luffy. David and Madison both make me sick. Disgusting, grimy people cut from the same trash human cloth.

I don’t like Michelle but “do you need anything else from me?” with that “and?” look was hilarious.

I’m here for Dr. Pia saying she’s not interested in pretending “this isn’t what it is” next episode, and I also hope Michelle curses Madison out. That “you want to start shit or have a conversation?” defensive posture Madison came in with is a bad look when she just admitted to inappropriate behavior with Michelle’s husband, when she herself is also married. Madison and David are the villains in this story and I hope people other than Michelle and Allen call them on it.

Yes, I feel for Allen too, but I’m sure he will have plenty of nice girls wanting to meet him.  He’s a good guy.  Good things will come his way.

No it's not producer driven. Michelle found a way to fix the villain edit she knew she was getting. She running with it for everything its worth.

Michelle is evil. I dislike her so much that I don't care that David "cheated". She's a hateful person and she looks so comfortable being hateful. It looks so natural on her. She kept telling Allen that she wished she was wrong. She enjoyed telling him and hurting him. Michelle pretends to be the victim but it's Allen who is the true victim.

Justice for Michelle, just like Juan said on Afterparty. <3 Her instincts were spot on from the beginning and her biggest mistake was letting the experts sway her about David being this "great guy" every time she tried to walk away from the marriage.

As if this whole situation wasn't awful enough for Allen, Juan revealed on the Afterparty that David and Allen were the two closest friends from the entire cast. Makes David's lack of empathy towards Allen look even more sociopathic with that added context. David should have sat there and taken everything Allen had to unleash on him, not kept cutting in trying to justify his betrayal and even play the sympathy card about how this was so hard for him too.

There are a lot of things at play here imo.

This show pushes you to keep trying even when you know there isn't a chance. Inevitably, you are going to create situations like this. People mentally out but sticking around out of pressure (or to be on tv, etc.)

I still maintain there is no cheating on David's side. There was no relationship there. Michelle can pretend she was trying all she wants.

But, damn near this whole cast is guilty of not calling it a day weeks ago. It would hurt the show but save people like Allen from this.

I even get why David kept lying. He can't just outright say it because it involves two other people.

But, they all went about this all wrong.

Such a mess all around.

Unfortunately for her, she's so relentless that I can't find the sympathy.  I am, however, looking forward to watching Dr. Pia get her "michelle" on next week and call those two out 😂. And it looks like Ikechi will be around to get some verbal abuse as well! 😃. The good thing about the other useless couples is that I can FF through all of their scenes, which makes these 2 hours go a lot faster.  I'll tune in to see if Camille and Tom say yes on DD, but other than that I'm done with everything but the assholes getting yelled at!  Which I probably shouldn't enjoy so much, but oh well 😄

I don’t know what’s real or fake anymore.  In the beginning it looked real.  A few got married and stayed that way to this day.  Now, I don’t know.  They must change producers who are younger and have different ideas about marriage.  I myself would never have picked this bunch. Too many red flags.  I’m really disappointed as I really liked this show in the beginning.  They should have a special show of all the couples who are still married and see how they are doing to this day.  That would be interesting to me anyhow. 🤷‍♂️

Like many of you, I have watched this show since day one, so I have seen it all from these fools.  This has been one of the most dissatisfying seasons on record.  If the "experts" want to create actual marriages, I'm all about it, but if all they want is to produce a show full of drama and manufactured moments, then just say that.  Honestly, I would respect them more for it.  It shouldn't take four months to finally air scenes that we have been seeing in clips pretty much since episode one.  That being said, last night was pretty juicy.

As is the case every season, here we are at the end and I am just now truly matching names to faces.  I recall being one of the first people to call out David for the walking joke that he is.  I said it then and I'll say it again now: Michelle's sour-faced attitude aside, a guy in his mid-to-late 30s who lives in his parent's basement is simply not attractive to a great many women.  Add a smoking habit, constant cursing, and a high pony and you've got a combo that does not cut it.  He claimed from the beginning that, from a financial standpoint, he "could move out any time he wanted," then slowly admitted that that wasn't necessarily true.  I don't care how much a man loves his parents and wants to save money (both very attractive qualities for me); no man David's age truly wants to live with his parents.  David is right about one thing: Michelle treated him like garbage from episode one.  I know that I would be heartbroken at best if my new spouse had to run off to the bathroom to be comforted by her girlfriends before the wedding was over.  As for the lying and Textgate, I'm no Michelle apologist by any means, but she had every right to know what was going on, especially when it involved her so-called "friend."  Yes, her constant barrage of questions and detective work were annoying, but if they hadn't been on MAFS, it never would have gotten this far- at least I hope not.  She would have cut him loose long ago and moved out of the way so Madison could schedule her first sleepover in David's twin bed next to the washing machine in his parent's basement.  As for Madison . . .

Madison is a hatchet-faced, lying, scheming bitch.  All season, I hated the way she treated Allen.  Allen was nothing but a gentleman to her and she acted as if she was better than him.  When she talked about how hard it was being as beautiful as her, I wanted to vomit.  I mean, who talks like that about themselves?!  She'll wake up one day, look in the mirror, and realize that looks fade over time and all we're left with are our actions and intentions.  You know- the inside stuff that can't be covered with a quarter-inch of concealer two shades darker than your skintone.  She and David truly deserve one another.  If anything, I hope this show serves as a warning to whomever might consider dating them in the future.  I will buy Madison's next six months of bleached-blonde hair extensions if they end up together for the long term.  If a man lies to someone else to be with you, it's just a matter of time before he's lying to you, too.  And if she views a text from an attached man who says he wants to "eat you up" as the beginning of a solid, meaningful relationship, then you do you, boo.

I'll wrap it up with this: Allen is a sincere, interesting, good-hearted man who is probably too good for this two-bit TV show anyway.  He handled the entire situation with as much grace as anyone could.  He would have had every right to backhand David when they were talking outside by the fire pit, but he held it together.  Allen, I am old enough to have been your teen mom, but you are more than good enough for a great many women.  I would have happily dated you and been pleased that such a financially-savvy, stable, funny guy wanted to date me.  Box up those dental aligners and new clothes, and drop them off at David's parent's house for Madison to pick up.  You're a catch for someone out there.

And no, I will not be purchasing a Peacock subscription to continue watching this nonsense.  I've lost too many brain cells every Tuesday night as it is.

When Madison and David realized that they were attracted to each other they could have waited until after Decision Day to start texting and starting a relationship.

Yeah, it’s like that one who got caught on a dating app a week before decision day. He and his wife (I forget their names but she had bright red hair) weren’t a match and they were clearly going to part ways, and him getting on an app after decision day would have been fine. But as she said when she confronted him, you couldn’t wait a week?

Madison and Allen and David and Michelle were already going to split, and the kinder thing to do would have been for one of them to speak their truth to the other privately (I feel so bad for Allen having to go through this on TV), and then start something up. Michelle would be on social media talking about “I knew it!” but it would be easier to ignore that. David opened this can of worms with the texting.

I laughed at Tom’s “I’m too old for this shit.” I’m also not sure if Juan and Emem’s comments to Allen were helpful. They were stressing that he’d get through it, but it had JUST happened. He’s allowed to wallow a little bit. I think I’d have gone with “you’re right, this sucks” and a hug if he was open to it.

Good morning, all. Here are my thoughts on this disaster of a show:

I DO NOT believe that Madison decided at this time for the first time, to tell David, WITH THE CAMERAS ON, that she "wuvs him." And, I DO NOT believe that David has never heard this before and was so happily surprised because, what do you know - he "WUVS her,"too.

I DO NOT believe that Michelle cares for even a second that she is a victim and has been wronged. She only cared about being right and not looking like such a cold bitch. There was NO reason for her to go to Allen and ask/tell him her thoughts. Allen did know, deep down, and it was so sad to see him have to accept the fact on camera. I DO believe that his reactions were real.

I DO believe that if Michelle had shown a modicum of decency to David, he would not have jumped into this relationship. I DO believe that it did start with the two of them commiserating about the terrible matches that were made and that neither of them were in a good place. I think that David was truly interested in the beginning, but there are only so many times you can be shut down. Michelle knew she would never want him, so I really don't fault David. But, Michelle is not a victim - Allen is.

I actually think it is kind of amusing that almost all of us here have the same thoughts about Michelle - she is just looking for a way to not get the villain edit, but it backfired. Most of us still don't like her or her attitude and don't have empathy towards her.

On a lighter note - I DO believe that if we ever see Juan with a guitar again, it should come with a warning that what we are about to see will damage our ears and our psyche - FOREVER. (Unless they want to provide us with whatever they were smoking or drinking.) I also believe that we need to provide Karla with the actual meaning of "being on the same page." She can say that as much as she wants, but they aren't even reading the same book, much less being on the same page! All she does is try to agree with whatever he says, as long as she can work in that they are being "vulnerable and open." And Juan needs to get his original facial hair back ASAP.

In looking at the previews, I DO NOT believe it when Cal asks if they have been intimate and David said they hadn't. They most certainly have. I DO believe that Madison is an even worse liar than David is. Maybe because she is younger.

No more Afterparty for 3 weeks! And the next one will be after D Day.

What I am wondering. . . is Emem now unhappy that she is not the person getting the most sympathy (although I didn't feel bad for her as long as she insisted that she wanted to stay married)? Is Camille going to see what she could have ended up with and start being nicer to Tom?

Unwise of Allen to ignore the details. Like he doesn't want to face the truth. To his detriment. Silly fool. She didn't want to tell him her suspicions & he didn't wanna even let his mind consider it. He should've. To be prepared. And he was. And drunk. Not an appropriate time. Hasn't he been cheated on before? You'd think that'd make him be on alert. But no. He wants to be oblivious. He should be thanking Michelle for the heads up so he wasn't completely blindsided. The girl knew!!!

Thank you!  I cannot stand it when people do this.  I'm sure they were well-meaning, but let the man be angry for a hot minute.  He had every right to be pissed, curse, and express it physically as long as he didn't hurt anyone else.  Emem seems like one of those people who wants to be a part of everything, good or bad.  She sees herself as that "mamabear" who steps in to provide comfort whether people want it or not.  I cannot imagine how humiliating this was for Allen.  He remained steadfast in the commitment he made to be on the show and give the relationship every opportunity to bloom- as he was supposed to.  Ugh, I'm getting pissed at Madison again, haha.

David is totally a player. I don't care what he was or wasn't getting from his marriage. He could have waited until after Decision Day. Also, Madison should have been the one to tell Allen, not David.

Allen was hurt, definitely. But he should put on his new $3,000 wardrobe and dive deep into his DMs because he is a catch and there will be plenty of fine women out there for him. Get on that, ladies!

I only watched the weddings this season because I had zero interest in the couples. So I've missed it all!

I was bored and watched last the episode last night.  About this "Michelle, Madison, David" event, why didn't Madison go tell Allen about her "feelings" (if that is what we are calling them) for David?

Why he is telling Allen? It seemed Madison never gave Allen the time of day. Did Allen like her at all?

NO???!!! B*TCH, YES!!! LEMME SEE THAT PHONE!!! WHY DOES SHE KEEP REJECTING HER OFFERS??? I GUESS BECAUSE SHE KNOWS THAT MEANS THE EVIDENCE IS GONE! WHERE ARE THE TEXTS?!!! SHE BROUGHT HER HER PHONE TO SHOW HER... NOTHING??!!! WTF?!! "WHAT DOES SHE DO?" TELL THE EFFING TRUTH!!! THEY'RE BOTH LIARS!!! THEY DESERVE EACH OTHER!!! STUPID TOM GIVING HER OPTIONS! NO! ASK HER WHY SHE EVEN CARES?!! DOES IT REALLY CHANGE ANYTHING?!! NO! SHE SHOULD BE HONEST & SAY THAT!

I agree. I don't think Michelle is an awful person for letting Allen in on her suspicions. It probably would have never come to light if she didn't keep digging and I'm sure after the fact Allen was grateful to have found out the truth then, rather than staying oblivious until decision day and giving Madison the satisfaction of a "yes."

I also did not see what others are seeing about her taking pleasure in clueing Allen in. She's not the most naturally warm person, but I did see her trying be sensitive and Keisha also got the impression that she was trying to handle his heart with a lot of care too.

GYM DATES??? GOOD CONVERSATIONS??? He's surprised?!! So they weren't creeping??? He really downplayed it when she first started talking, saying he got along with everyone but his wife... She wasn't curious about the text?! What if there was another woman??? 😕 Him lying isn't an issue?!! Oh. Because she lies too? TRASH!!! What'd he expect to happen had he texted her??? INITIATE AN AFFAIR!!! Friendship is different from relationship. They're gunna try to be with each other for a week?! Uhhh. Okay. Sure. I'm surprised they didn't replay their first gym chat on the honeymoon. Giving advice to each other about their relationships is how it started? Like the Usher song? YIKES!!! Got advice & didn't follow it soooo... 🙄 Michelle said they put on a show with that scene & she's been spot on, so. 🤔

WOWWWW!!! It was actually who they made it look like! I'm shocked! They even had them on the after show & didn't ask them about it! Of course they wouldn't have told the truth. LIARS! So weird to have the participants revisit past events in a certain timeframe when much more happened after. They have to act how that footage reflected when things could've soured afterwards... TOO MUCH TIME ON THIS ISH!!! David can keep saying he wasn't getting what he needed at home all he wants, he didn't tell her to give her the chance to change it. She wouldn't have, but still if it's a problem you're not even gunna attempt to fix, LEAVE!!! She didn't care about him & definitely didn't care to get to know him & he returned that energy. SHE SHOULD'VE ENDED IT AFTER THE HONEYMOON!!! They both could've & should've ended it long before the text. It's been done before! Ike just did it! WHY did they subject themselves & us to this?!!! WHAT was he expecting after CONSTANTLY LYING?!! He didn't honestly expect to continue with the marriage. Same question for her. If he'd been honest, would it have made much a difference? She just wants to know just to know. Doesn't change that she didn't intend to stay married. He stayed lying to the very end, even with his final "apology." He should've said he wasn't sorry for any of it & didn't care anymore because she never cared & feels she deserves it. She should take accountability and admit to his claims that she wasn't interested in him & didn't care. He feels she wasted his time, so he wasted hers. They wasted everyone's time! Ridiculous!

Sad, violent freak out. 2nd one in MAFS history!!! The poor fool! I'd say it doesn't top Michaela's yelling... It looked like Em & Juan cut him off to stop him from going in on Madison more after he just called her a b*tch. They're not the right audience for that cuz they're all "friends." Just like with David & Michelle, they're mostly team David, but try to be on both sides. How is he so hurt, but knew she didn't want him & looked at him with disgust? 😕 Did he involuntarily care for her because he liked her & spent time with her so he couldn't help it? Guys wanna like who they're talking to, so I guess it's the same. He wanted to like her because they're married, despite the signs.

First of all, I am in no way justifying what David and Madison did (and will comment on it), but Michelle just needed to stop.  She even told the women that it felt like nobody wanted to hear her side, and she was right.  Read the room.  First was Ikechi's foolishness and then her relentless and desperate attempt to be the 'victim' that everyone would support and feel sorry for while telling off David.  Nope, wasn't going to happen.  They obviously did not want to keep rehashing everything at dinner.  She needed to let it go-that was not the time or place to pursue the issue.  And, she even then insisted on bringing it up to Allen who was oblivious.  Why she felt she needed to 'clue him in' is beyond me, except that she so wanted to be a 'victim.'  The only person for whom I really feel sympathy is Allen.

Madison and David couldn't wait until after Decision Day?  And why did Madison have to keep leading Allen on?  And, she is full of it if one of her 'requirements' is that a man dresses well.  Allen totally bought all the clothes she liked (and wore them at the retreat), while David dresses like a slob IMO.  Like another poster, I couldn't believe that Madison didn't tell Allen and left that to David.  Madison and David, while both liars, are cowards.  Deny, deny, deny until there's no option but to admit-and even then with the lies 'oh, we haven't done anything yet...'  Once Allen has some time he'll see all the signs/flags that he originally missed.  The silver lining?  Allen will so find someone after this (if only I were younger, lived in Chicago, etc., I like his quirkiness and think he's a good guy).

Ikechi, of course, will be hugely disappointed as he wanted to be the center of drama for the season...

I don't understand this perspective at all. Michelle didn't have or display any special "instinct" about David when they first met. She made judgments about him based on his appearance, his language, and what he told her about his lifestyle. And based on those judgments, Michelle treated David like gum on her shoe from Day 1 to whatever day it was she received the text message. Nothing David or Madison has done absolves Michelle of her own terrible behavior. Sure, it's not her fault David stepped out on her, but she's still as grimy as any of the other villains of the season to me, irrespective of whatever awful things anybody else did.

Roughly 16% of all  the MAFS marriages so far are still intact.  Anyone can see this so-called experiment is a dismal failure.  Anyone else who applies to participate in this pathetic attempt to find a spouse is either incapable of rational thought or just looking for  a few minutes of "fame" for themselves or their business.  The people running this show are all about ratings and careless about people's feelings.  The "experts" may as well just pick names out of a hat to make their matches.  The emphasis on disgusting bachelor parties and sex games for newly matched strangers is revolting.  I could go on, but I think I've made my point.  As someone else has already posted on this thread, this show was so much better in the beginning.  What a shame it has become.

Yes, I'm reading between the lines. I've picked up on a lot of inconsistences from David and I think Michelle is a smart person and she did too. For example, there was a moment when he was giving her the grand tour of his basement and he said he hasn't sat there at the dining table in three years, which Michelle caught and said, "I thought you've only lived here for 8 months?" I think the show would not air any doubts she was having about his character because they were the ones who cast that lying bum under the pretense that he's this "great guy" and they needed to keep gaslighting her about it so they wouldn't have one less couple to film. Juan having a front row seat to all this and saying the same thing about her instincts being spot on just validated my beliefs about Michelle having legitimate concerns about David's honesty and character.

Agree to disagree about her being just as big of a villain as Madison and David. Absolutely nothing Michelle has done compares to how they both treated Allen. Their duplicitous behavior and how they knowingly played with Allen's heart was diabolical on a level beyond anything Michelle ever did to David.

Good God that took so long! So drawn out! Only thing missing was Michelle interrogating the both of them together! 😂 She should've taken Madison's phone to look through it. Suspicious when they hold it & choose what to show. I'd say include Allen in that interrogation, but he doesn't want to know so he wouldn't ask for any specific details. Michelle is a top notch investigator! She should open an agency! Just needs to condense the interrogation to one interview... They teased a couple swap so does that mean she goes with Allen? 🤔 Or maybe they didn't mean that. Maybe it's just D&M. Didn't I see someone "propose" to Em? I thought that was a joke or something... WHY NOW??? So late & close to DD? I mean, Michelle was rapidly closing in. Pretty much done investigating and had her mind made up about what went down. She couldn't have dragged that out much longer, then again this was dragged out so long. Would she have eventually said, "You're still lying, I want a divorce."? David's such a punk, I doubt he'd request a divorce before DD. He still didn't say why he would've texted Madison that. What was the plan?!! Continue being questioned by Michelle til DD? Progress with Madison on the low? I can't with these fools! Ike better sit there & listen to everything Em has to say!

Yep.  Allen is a guy every woman needs.  She wasn’t for him as she was a drinker, bar fly and who knows what else.  This was meant to be for his sake.  There will be plenty of women, nice women, who will love to have him.  As the months go by, I wish we could find out how he’s doing, as he was one of the good ones.  I don’t know what Madison sees in David.  Between the hair, sloppy clothes and still living with Parents, what did he have to offer?

I agree. I think the least that Madison could have done was be the one to tell Allen that she and David "like like" each other instead of letting David do that.

Madison was never attracted to Allen though they kissed a lot at the wedding (probably the high of being queen for a day and alcohol). They have not kissed since their wedding and she was pretty upfront with Allen about the things that she found unattractive. He tried to "fix" them all. Madison really continued to live her life after the wedding; she went out with friends a lot, leaving Allen at home. He had envisioned watching tv together on the couch in the evenings after work. Even though she showed up for the MAFS stuff, she friend-zoned Allen the day after the wedding and he never had a chance after that, though she couldn't say that directly.

I don't know that Allen was "in love" with Madison but he caught some feelings for her. He thought she was gorgeous and was probably thrilled that being financially self-supporting came along with a package he found pretty. I think that he really was looking for a wife by coming on this show and I think he gave his best. I think that Allen was going to say yes on Decision Day and hope that attraction somehow developed. I think that he is hurt and his pride is wounded and I don't blame him on either count. I love Allen and I'm hoping he finds someone who loves him for who he is. I think he will be an excellent husband and father someday.

David is definitely not the "pretty" boy that Madison has described as being her type but he is the "bad boy" I think. They both like to party and that, plus the gym, seem to be their primary non-work interests. I don't think they will last but I think they are having fun together right now. I think they both also enjoy the attention they are getting from each other. They both seem to like compliments and ego stroking and I imagine there is a lot of that going on. Finally, misery loves company. Neither of them had a satisfactory match in their estimation so they are crying on each other's shoulders about that while deadlifting martinis.

Michelle is a mean girl. The way she relished telling Allen her suspicions. At that point she didn't know any truth at all but she just poked and pushed and messed with his head hard with a smile on her face. She is ugly on the inside.

When Allen was breaking down in the room and told her he didn't want to talk about she pushed and pushed. She should have quietly left him to his pain instead of standing there like some damn martyr.

She did not give one single F about her marriage. She was blatant about her disdain for her husband. Why the F is she walking around pretending she is some scorned wife. She was checked out from day one.

David is a dog for doing this but not because of her. Because of his friend Allen.

And why the hell didn't Madison talk to her husband herself. Coward.
