Dying at The Phantom Menace and Kid Cowboy, and Nandor's poor attempt at spelling in his blueprints. And Colin trying to reassure Guillermo with platitudes he saw on mugs and St. Elmo's Fire.

And hold up, trying to hook up Monster with The Guide was where the documentary crew drew the line?! Poof, it just ends. And of course the vamps don't care because they're immortal and they'll just continue existing, and Guillermo can't deal with it. I liked how we actually saw the crew filming everyone, and wondering which crew member Gizmo was hooking up with. It was honestly so sweet how the Vamily cared so much about Guillermo's well being. They might not admit it, but they HAVE grown. Imagine them caring about him this much in season 1?

LOVED the reveal that this wasn't the first documentary, and that it was a great around doing a clip show because everything happened before (like Jackie Daytona! The Witch Hat! Nandor revealing they were vampires during a water main break!) just with Jerry in the mix.

And HOLY CRAP that reveal of Nadja hypnotizing the show into The Usual Suspects ending with Colin being Keyset Soze, with every single plot point being literal signs on the wall of the police station. Colin was fantastic in this episode, with that, his awful attempt at an Irish accent, to demanding Guillermo doing a jig. We even got his lore drop! THAT'S how we know it's the end.

What a tease with Guillermo saying goodbye to Nandor..and it's all a fake ending. And then we don't see the superhero lair! But I loved everyone watching the first ep...and then immediately getting bored. They were babies!

This was a 10/10 ending. It was honor to watch with you guys.

I’m going to watch the repeats. I’m thinking maybe — maybe — we have different brain scramblies sequences.

Fun finale. It would’ve been nice to find out if the makers of the documentary would actually air their finished product. Y’know, because the world isn’t aware that vampires actually exist, and maybe knowing that wouldn’t be a good thing.

Great series, distinct from the movie and not merely because the setting was different. We probably could’ve had more comebacks (like the final season of Cheers) and less extraneous stuff like Jerry, but this was a good finale. I still wouldn’t say “no” to a movie, though. Fingers crossed! (“HHHHSSSSSSSSSS!!!”)

HOLY SHIT, I WAS RIGHT! Rosemary’s Baby homage!!!

ETA: It’s 23 minutes into the episode. Just FYI.

While the entire main cast is top notch, I certainly hope we see more of the fellow who plays the Jackie Daytona character again.  I like that man's style!  Best guest character ever!

Wasn't aware of the different endings twist, so that was a fun discovery.  The one I saw on Hulu had the Newhart-style ending with Nandor and Guillermo, but thankfully you can see the other two in the extras section.  Fun little concept right there.

So, in the end, the documentary ends on its own terms, because they believe they have enough footage now.  Although Nadja's argument about them topping out after Guillermo was turned into a vampire was a fun moment, but I'm not against hanging out with the gang a little bit more!  Poor Gizmo wanted to have an emotional ending with big revelations and emotional moments, but that was never in the cards with this lot.  The vampire are going to keep vampiring on, even if the cameras are turned off.  That said, the final scene with him and Nandor was nice.

The Guide not only caught Nandor's eyes, but The Monster's as well.  Even if she didn't seem thrilled with his attempts of wooing her by gifting her his severed dick (strangely not the weirdest thing I've ever typed when talking about this show.)

The underground lair exists!!

Fare thee well, What We Do In The Shadows.  Might be one of the wildest shows yet and one of my favorite comedies out there.  Looking forward to seeing what the cast does next, but I'll miss seeing them play off one another.  Probably one of the strongest ensembles in all of television and their chemistry was top-notch.  I'll probably have to think on what are some of my favorite episodes and/or seasons, but this was one of the shows where I never got bored or tired of it, and enjoyed the ride all the way through.  I'll miss the gang but I'm glad we got as much time/episodes as we did.  There was nothing quite like this one!

Unless he keeps reattaching it with Velcro while maintaining its functionality, it would seem that that would solve the humping problem.  Although at one point Baron Afanas was described as lacking genitals, and he was still a good lover (but he wasn't chasing dolls or humping stuffed bears.)

Oh thank you. I always watch on Hulu, so I was pissed there was only the one ending. I just watched the other two on the Extras.

Huh. I'm clearly in the minority, feeling disappointed by the finale. Not nearly as many belly laughs as usual for me.

I'm with you. Of course the whole show was meta re people feeling disappointed with various shows' finales. The Newhart finale is considered one of the best finales. The Usual Suspects ending is one of the best twists. I've never seen Rosemary's Baby -- not into scary stuff -- so I don't know how that ending was received.

I noticed that there was a clip (not really a clip but I don't know what to call it) referencing Full House. Never having watching that show, I don't know anything about its finale.

I think my favorite part was seeing the first documentary.

But even if I was disappointed in the finale, I loved this series.

I loved the finale. Nandor and Guillermo plunging away in the coffin reminded me of the last Calvin and Hobbes comic strip of them riding away on their sled to new adventures.

I thought it was sweet, the two best friends off on adventure! It  might not have been a romantic ending but Nandor does love him... and who knows?

I saw Rosemary's Baby many, many years ago.  I remember what one could consider a "twist" towards the end, so that will be interesting to check out.

I've never seen The Usual Suspects, though I've meant to for a while.  Now I'm considering finding it and watching it, just so I can appreciate the alternate ending based on it.

I too watched The Finale on Hulu, so I got the Newhart twist.  It was probably a good decision to make that one the "default" since it had the greatest chance of having been seen by most people.  I didn't watch Newhart regularly, but was a big fan of The Bob Newhart Show back in the 70's, and I've seen the Newhart clip a few times online.  It was pretty much impossible to miss the hubbub surrounding it when it happened, and even though I didn't see it play out in real time, I can appreciate how mind-blowing and hilarious it must have been for fans of both shows.

I'm not sure why, but I didn't put together the parallels between Nandor's proposed superhero and Batman until Guillermo spelled it out.  I mean, I got that Nandor wanted to basically be Batman, with the secret underground lair and supercomputer, but when Guillermo said "half man, half bat crime fighter" I finally went "Ohhh!"

Overall, I think the episode was a bit too meta for me.  Lots of bustling around concerning the ending of the documentary, and it seemed for a while that that would be it: the final episode would be full of references to the fact that it's the final episode, and that's all.  But starting with Nadja hypnotizing us, things picked up and they did stick the landing with the reveal that Nandor really did put together a bat cave.  He'd been working on it "for a while".

Well I loved it. 10 out of 10. I thought they really nailed the ending with the documentary crew packing up and taking off. I loved seeing glimpses of them, especially when the vampires were trying to guess which crew member Guillermo was hooking up with. That one guy DID look kinda like Nandor!

I watched live on FX. The first "hypno" ending was The Usual Suspects - which I have never seen, so I had no idea what it was a parody of. I tuned back in later and saw the Newhart version, which apparently aired third. Missed the Rosemary's Baby version, which aired second, but I recorded it (I hope).

There were so many good moments, and I felt so bad for Guillermo trying to find meaning in all of it, and Nandor and Nadja, in particular, actually giving a crap about him. In their own way, of course.

I guess my IQ is now ten points lower. Thanks Nadja!

Yes, he did!

I have to find the Rosemary's Baby and Newhart parodies. I  know that movie and that show well. I have never seen The Usual Suspects, so I was at a loss, but it was still funny. I did notice Colin had a picture of Evie in his locket.

The Usual Suspects is a great movie. But if you saw this, you have been somewhat tipped off to the end. It's still brilliant. And they executed it perfectly.  It was the film that made Kevin Spacey's career.

I liked all the call backs to previous episodes.  When Nandor starts the house meeting and it's the same agenda. And it was a hoot seeing how young everyone was when the show started.

If you can, rewatch the previous episode. After the group leaves Cannon Capital, Nandor tells Guillermo that he wants to become a costumed crimefighter with certain embellishments, and Guillermo says "like Batman?" and Nandor says he's never heard of him. Then Nandor asks Guillermo to be his sidekick and Guillermo says "like Robin?" and Nandor says the same thing.

Even though only Guillermo should have visibly aged in 6 years, whereas everyone looked the same in 1958 as they did now (my only issue with them showing bits of the current documentary; I wonder if they had considered reshooting those parts with everyone in their original costumes and Guillermo "de-aged.")

I don't know if this is the real reason why Guillermo was so taken back at the crew leaving (because I'm not sure he would have had a chance to come to this realization yet) but here's my theory: Guillermo is constantly dealing with the bizarre, over-the-top actions of the vampires, who rarely take his advice, and often berate him for offering it.   For the last 6 years, he's been able to turn to the crew and mutter a comment to people who he knows would understand his exasperation (even if they don't respond because they're there to record the goings-on, not to participate in them.) Now he'll be the only semi-rational being in a sea of crazy with no one to whom he can vent even mildly. (I say "semi", because it's pretty insane to live with mass murderers, even if he's no longer procuring or burying the victims.)

Or maybe Nadja is correct and he just realizes that he's wasted a big chunk of his life.

Ha.  My first thought when I saw the hypno ending come up was "Oh no, they're spoiling The Usual Suspects."  Then I realized that was silly because it's close to 30 years old.

It's not really spoiled for me though, because without context it doesn't actually mean anything.

That ending where the camera follows Guillermo while everyone is singing "We'll meet again" really put a lump in my throat! I could just relate to his sadness at the show ending.

Airs 12/16/24.

If the rumors are true, the three airings on FX tonight will have different endings.

I watched all three and only the 10 mins or so, 3/4 in, was different.

I hope I can see the other two hypno endings on demand.

I got to see all 3 in a row on regular TV. (On FX)

The other line that cracked me up every time was the "other immigrants who are entering this country illegally."

No surprise the vampires are old money Republicans,  😆 🤣

That was a fun finale for a ridiculous show. Pretty much everything Nadja did was amazing. I loved her talking about how she knows about humans now. And her bit about Guillermo being like a little shit dog in a rain coat was really funny. I also enjoyed Colin Robinson's annoying goodbye platitudes.

Finding out that there were fake out hypno endings was interesting. I got Newhart, and real life Nandor being freaked out by his dream and the woman more clever then him was good. Also noticed that the actors who played Shawn and The Baron were in the closing credits so the extra endings made sense then.

Overall this was a pretty great show. Probably a top 10 sitcom for me and one I will for sure watch again at some point. I can't believe I only started watching it last year after Paul Reubens died and people were talking about his guest appearance. And then to find out the showrunner was Paul Simms who created Newsradio, one of my all time favourite sitcoms made it even better.

I am so glad that I came here so quickly after finishing the episode, I was disappointed that there was only one ending, but now I got to see all of them! This was a great finale, I loved all of the call-backs, the meta commentary on endings, and Guillermo trying to find a lesson or character growth in all of this, only to realize at the end that he and Nandor really did grow, in their own weird way. As much as the vampires haven't changed their hijinks over the years, they really have grown since the show started, no way would they have spent that much time trying to cheer Guillermo up in the first season and no way would Guillermo have been so honest about his feelings with them.

I loved all three of the endings, although the Newhart one was probably my favorite, all three were tons of fun and filled with great call backs, this show really has always done a good job of keeping its continuity straight, even when its not a super plot heavy show. I also really liked seeing so much of the camera crew at the end as the gang tried to figure out which one was having an affair with Guillermo, that one guy really did look a bit like a human Nandor. The episode was clearly trying to avoid any over the top sentiment, putting jokes over any cliché series finale tropes, but there was still such a warmth from everyone on the show, even with the snark and the whole revelation that things rarely change for the vampires, you can tell that the show has meant a lot to them.

Most importantly, we got to see Jackie Daytona again, our favorite normal human bartender and women's volleyball enthusiast. What a guy!

I'm going to miss this show a lot, its been one of the most consistently funny sitcoms with one of the best casts on television since its very first season, but, as a wise man once said, don't cry because it ended, smile because it happened.

"The Phantom Menace!"

"I think that ones taken."

Phooey, I don't have Hulu.

I watched the single episode that's in OnDemand on cable and it had all three hypnosis scenarios in it (it shows as about 45 minutes instead of 30 in length)...then I went to Hulu to confirm I saw everything, lol. I was worried because people keep saying "different endings," but the changing scenarios aren't at "the end" of the episode.

[Also glad that I previously read here that there were 3 scenarios because when they all play out back-to-back, it's kinda confusing & weird.]
