Oh good grief. Chock said that? He's delusional. How is she "his rock?" Has he leaned on her through thick and thin, lifetime trials and trauma, raising kids, etc? NO. What a ridiculous thing to say. Clearly, this guy isn't thinking straight. Maybe his real goal is to just "win" the last rose.

Taking her to his mom's memorial service was out of line and inappropriate, like I mentioned earlier. I am happily saying it again. And taking the shovel? With all due respect, who is she to do this?

Was it Guy who took Joan to Lake Tahoe? One of my favorite places. I have been there often since it's relatively close to me.

Next week's show is going to introduce a little drama.

Yes, in a one -on- one interview as their 'funeral' date was winding down, with the producer? or director?

I’m honestly tempted to have a drink everytime Joan mentions her dead husband. I’ll be asleep halfway through the next episode!

Exactly. These guys have been set up with someone who is depressed and isn't ready to date. Aren't these guys tired of hearing about her husband? They already know that he will very much still be in their day-to-day conversations and lives.

I do know what she is talking about with having guilt though.

The vibe I'm getting is, Chock and Joan are already dating. (not as in they came into the show as a couple but as in all their behaviours are those of a couple dating, the way she curled into him on the bowling date, that he brought her to his mum's memorial, etc). Pasqual is the most popular boy in high school that she wants to like her because it would validate her. Guy is the good looking doctor she thinks she should pick on paper, but the spark just isn't there.

Regardless of how we feel about Chock, their body language screams couple. Not "Bachelor" couple but actual, real world couple. If you told me they'd been dating for a long time I'd believe it.

The editing also clearly seems to be showing that Chock is the winner. The way she ran up to him in Kansas, how relieved and happy she was when he came back to the mansion after his mom died, how she feels safe with him…at this point I’ll be surprised if she picks Guy or Pascal, or nobody.

I wonder how the whole “are your feelings fading?” conversation from the preview will go.

Does Joan ever get mad at anyone?  All she does is agree with all the men and lie she doesn’t have a mind of her own.  The men love how she agrees with whatever they say.  She’s not being honest, and they are going Gaga over her.  My husband even said “ why is she dressing like a young chippi? specially in that red dress.  I don’t think the producers picked right.  They are probably young guys.

They wanted a Bachelorette that was "hot" but still fit the Golden age range. For most of us we can see from her face and the crepe on her skin that she actually looks older than 61. But I think these guys are blinded by the slim figure, boobs, and long blonde hair and from being in the cocoon of the mansion and competition.

This is one reason the guys are all madly in love with her. They aren't used to someone who agrees and hangs on every word they say.

Right. A lot of women at that age may not look like that. So they grabbed Joan, put on lots of makeup, did the hair, and done. She already has the great figure. I'm surprised, though, that a lot of what she wears shows so much skin. A little more arm coverage is not going to turn anyone off. I wouldn't want my arms to show like that. But that's just me.

Etiquette question: if you give presents to your date, does she then have to carry them?

Those who consider Chicago their hometown, what’s your opinion of “Lou Malnati’s” pizza?

I lived in Chicago for six years, and visit regularly.  Lou Malnati's is legit---and locals love it for good reason.

Pascal really  does have a zest for life, and he looks very good for 69. His son has his father's ability  to talk, and put you at ease, he was a good looking  boy. Pascal obviously  loves his family, I can't see him with Joan for some reason,  I loved her dress when she met him.

The hometown visit definitely showed the differences between Joan and Pascal, he's so outgoing and such a people person. You could see her shrink a little in that atmosphere and it made me realize that Pascal probably wouldn't notice* Joan in the real world, outside of the 1-woman bubble of the mansion.

*Well, he would probably notice those ratty extensions.

Quote

ETA: was so hoping Pascal would do something with Joan’s hair while she was in the salon!

I got so excited when I saw the robe go on, I really thought he was gonna fix it. But I guess the show wouldn't allow that, hard to edit a show if someone drastically changes their appearance along the way.

I found her outfits for the various dates to be really interesting, the fact that she looked most glamorous for Pascal's group shows that she wants him to like her and approve of her regardless of whether or not she's really that into him. His kids were very charming, but I was a little surprised at how young they were. The one daughter who didn't get much screen time looked like a high schooler.

Guy's Lake Tahoe date looked fabulous to me, I would have liked that one the most. His kids were very attractive, but the one son was just way too ready for his close-up. Settle down, kid.

Not surprised that Jordan is gone, they didn't seem to have any particular chemistry. I definitely get the vibe that Jordan is a man about town. Also, in those skintight jeans, it appears that he's extremely well endowed, like the jeans couldn't contain it. It was quite visible.

Of the final 4, I do think Jordan was the least wealthy (not that he doesn't have money, but it's clear that the other 3 have pretty hefty wallets.)

I assume she's going to choose Chock, he's the only one I see in a position to possibly move for her. Guy's kids look youngish, plus who would give up Lake Tahoe for freaking Maryland? Pascal's life is not remotely mobile, so that's a dead end.

I’m no prude, well maybe a little, lol, BUT what’s with all this kissing?  I don’t remember all this with the young couples.  With tongue especially.  The producers are probably young.  On my first date with my husband, I shook his hand and thanked him for a great evening.  He said I was the first girl that did that.  He cracked up.  Married forever.  Between Joan kissing everyone and the scanty clothes, it’s a little too much for tv at that age.  Just my opinion.  Chock looks like he would devour her.  Gross.

Chock is a big shot millionaire in his state.  I cannot see him having dinner with her family every Sunday.  I doubt she would move too.

I think that the kisses on The Golden Bachelorette are surprisingly tame compared to the Cinemax style make outs on The Bachelor/Bachelorette/BIP. Joan tends to give quick pecks to most of the guys and saves the make outs for Chock. Some people are so hot and heavy on Bachelor in Paradise that they don't even notice the crabs about to climb onto their bodies 🦀🏖️😅.

I can’t see Joan making out as her lips are frozen solid.  A frozen peck will have to do.  Then again, there are other things, “cough, cough”. lol.

Joan's face is stretched so tight her lips only move up and down like a muppet 😂

The downfall with this Golden franchise is that unlike unmoored twenty somethings who don't have kids or established careers, these older folks have full blown lives and families they are just not leaving for a woman/man they barely know (IRL). If they want a success in this franchise, ABC needs to recruit people that are geographically close, otherwise I just don't see any couple working out from the Goldens.....

Personally, I think after a couple more cycles, it's time for the Goldens in Paradise. I would love to just see them all somewhere exotic interacting with each other!

Notice she didn't tell Chock about the emotional connection and not getting physical?  This is sooo boring.

It is so boring,

Joan is so dull, awkward and stiff. She’s only a little bit older than me and she can’t even move her face. I just don’t understand why women are doing this to their faces. I don’t like all my wrinkles but I look normal.

Joan finally got new hair.  It’s shiny and lighter.  The old hair looked ratty.  Don’t like Chock.  Does she have to kiss all of them?  I never realized how nice and emotional Pascal was.  He is lonely and a good man.  I have a feeling she won’t pick any of them as she’s still thinking of her late husband.  Pascal was right about the ceremony.  He’s not ready for such talk.  He’s not ready for Joan either.  He is a real gentleman.  Chock is looking to jump her bones.  He’s too much too soon.

WOW, Joan got turned down by Pascal.  Good for him.  She is stunned.  Gee, her late husband must have kissed her ass every minute.  Love Pascal.  She wants the rich life again, so she said.  You can’t have everything in life she found out.  She wants to be wined, dined, traveled and adored.  You can’t have everything your little heart desires.

They had many really good choices for the first Golden Bachelorette and they chose Joan. Things I know about Joan include: she is not over John, all her Botox and whatever else has made her look older, she has zero affect, and she is either playing a chair does know who she is because she seems more like a caricature than a normal human.

To be fair, if Joan were at home, just watching Netflix like the rest of us, I don’t think she’d be weeping about John every five minutes. I think it’s because this show is encouraging her to take the next step toward starting the next chapter of her life, which kind of means ending the John chapter.

That’s a really good point.
Some of the men also were also processing their own losses.

So, Joan was looking for a rich guy.  That explains the plastic surgery, hair and sexy clothes.  She wants the rich life, travel, the whole enchilada.  Why is she upset?  Her ego is deflated?  She still has Chock who can give her what she wants. But, where will they live?  That’s the problem.  Her lifestyle was probably very grand and wants the same.   Gee, I haven’t been on vacation for years because of hospital bills for me and my husband.  I’m not whining.  You can’t have everything.  Joan must have had a rich life with her husband, now wants the same.  She wants the life she had before the husband died.

Chock gives me the ICK.

Joan was far from the best choice for Golden Bachelorette. My vote would've been for Nancy - if they wanted someone "demure", or there were a handful of other ladies with more fun personality.

Pascal is a good guy. I appreciate his honesty. And they need to get Golden Paradise in the works because I'd love to see him and April (Gerry's season) interact. I think, aesthetically anyway, they match up.

Also, I think she’s missing the high life John gave her.  Probably lots of beautiful vacations, traveling to other countries, etc.  she’s alone now and wants everything she had.

They should ask Pascal to be the next Golden Bachelor.  He’s a sweetheart.

I felt sorry for Joan, when Pascal told her how he feels. When her eyes filled with tears, I had a lump in my throat. I think he was the one, he's a lovely man imho, and thank goodness he told her the truth. He'd  make a fun bachelor,  there's a lot more to him than a fancy car,  as he said. Maybe his daughter  signed  him up for the show, hoping  he could  get over his ex( their  breaking  it on and off) he just wasn't  ready.
I think  Guy  is also a nice man, did he go to a dark place during  his divorce,  he did, but these men are older, they all have a past that has bad and good in it.
I think Chock has definitely  fallen for Joan, bigtime.  I think she feels  more than  comfortable  with him, hopefully  enough  to tell him what happened,  and how she's feeling, he deserves  that much. He obviously  doesn't  want  to go through  another  divorce,  perhaps  that's  why he never married  his second  love, at least  that's  my thoughts. This is all very unnatural, and editing  can make someone look desperate,  I just don't  think he is.

Next week  the guys  are back, I'm looking forward to seeing  them, I've never  said that before!

Joan has this odd clover-shaped vein above her right eyebrow that was saying hello during the (wedding) ceremony.

She loves going to the beach with her family but refuses to wear sunscreen. That was some serious sun damage on her arms and chest.

Agree: Nancy would have been a better Golden Bachelorette.

Maybe it’s editing, but they made it seem as if Joan wouldn’t have been happy unless all three of the men were 100% smitten with her.

Something tells me that it will annoy Chock that Pascal chose to bow out. Chock would prefer to triumph over two other men.

Chock and Guy are falling in love with her. But Pascal doesn’t feel a spark, so that means she’s unlovable.
