I think that was "Louise" (i.e. Jess' dad's (whatever his name) new wife).

No- she left him already.   I thought it might mean Jess’s  sister.   Although I don’t know why she would be  at Jess’s in-laws.  Unless she was there for extra support for Tali.

Louise is Jess' sister. I expect that the reason she was there was to help Talli. I still can't believe they killed Jess if for no other reason than not making poor Talli an orphan. Why couldn't he just ride off into the sunset. I always had the impression that the house was Jess' and the in laws were there to help raise Talli. I never liked the Jess and Sarah relationship, they really had no chemistry and they are making it seem more long term than it actually was.

I actually fell asleep before the end! Lol  The last thing I recall was the lady criminal talking to her dad and him saying he was no longer in power.

You didn't miss much!  The plot was pretty convoluted, and I stopped following halfway through.

Last night I noticed that Alexa Davalos only has one vocal cadence and one facial expression.  She hardly reacts to anything.  Is this a purposeful method acting technique to show FBI seriousness, or can she just not act very well? I never noticed it before because Julian McMahon was so dynamic in comparison.

Looks like Dylan McDermott will be introduced next week.  I've liked him on everything except Law and Order Organized Crime.

Well they need someone in charge. That getting locked in the cellar stunt was like a  keystone cops routine.  I mean, where was the little voice that screams “this is crazy” when they did this?  Lol

She's been doing that since she first joined the show and that's why I find the character is so unappealing. I never watch her in other show so I can't compare. Her actor husband (Josh Stewart) has the same acting technique/demeanour.

I seriously hope that Sheryll taking a time off is only temporary. If she leaves, I won't be watching anymore.

FMW season finale will be aired on May 24.

I don’t notice the actors or expressions that much, but unfortunately, I can’t ignore the procedural errors that ruin it for me.  Before Jess left, I did notice that he seemed to be bothered physically.  He seemed to grimace at times and his posture was off. His body seemed older than he was.  I think I then read about a back problem, which makes sense.

Why didn't they just shoot the 2x4 holding the door shut?

Because we all know, from innumerable shootouts, that small pieces of wood are impervious to bullets.

It's always a good idea, when investigating a crime scene after multiple murders have been created by the suspects, to stand in front of the doorway when you open it.  If there's anyone in the room, they won't shoot at you, will they?

Accepting that it's a plot device, I have a hard time believing that breaking a fluorescent light tube causes sparks to fly everywhere and start a fire.  Besides which, it's a grow house.  They have a water supply, I would assume.  Put the fire out.  And why, if the other agents were so close as to rescue them, did they not pursue the bad guys?

I like a good murder mystery and chase as much as anyone, but, after one season of this violence porn, I'm out.

I’m not sure if it’s just lazy writing or stupid writing.  If I had a job like that, I’d really deliver.  It can’t be that difficult to bounce ideas off others and to get technical support from former FBI agents. Shoot, you could get it from any law enforcement officer. Some of it is basic 101 stuff.  It’s like they wanted agents trapped in a burning structure so much, they ignored everything else.  🙄

Oh, and the security detail they put at the house where the nanny and kid were staying…….I’d think it would get more security than one guy who thought asking questions of the strangers was a good move. Or the nanny who wants to stroll around outside with the child.  Just unreal.  So small minded.

What a crazy plot!  We should have realized that the professor of Slavic languages was really a Russian Mafia don!  Also the husband at the beginning was going around shooting a zillion people--so they could get out of the life of crime!

The next episode, "Covenant", introduces Agent Richard Wheatley Remy Scott:

Quote

The team’s new leader, charming but formidable Special Agent Remy Scott, takes charge as they investigate a series of homicides tied to a forbidden love between a young teen and her older boyfriend.

I miss Jess. I didn't love Remy's style but I didn't hate him either. Looking forward to seeing how he does with Barnes. Jess was more cerebral... Remy strikes me as more of a tough action guy although I did like the opening scenes with the baker and the doorman.

I miss Jess too, but it helps me to know he is never coming back.  So I know I have to move on to Remy.  Dylan McDermott is not a favorite of mine and he was still a little L&O:OC for me — a little too snarly, feels like he’s going to “blow” any minute.  Hoping he settles in to a character I don’t mind seeing every week.  Jess wasn’t perfect and I never liked the LaCroix family focus stuff so this is a perfect chance for FBI:MW to move away from that (if the writers choose to).

The story was pretty interesting — held my attention.  Good to see most of the crew back together.

And the Remy Scott era has begun.

IMO, it was a bit better than I expected. However, I did see some Wheatley seeping through. He started out kinda down to earth with his initial intro to the squad, but his seemingly put-on intensity during the investigation was a bit over done for me.

He did come out with some comical quips throughout. LeCroix he not, so I'll have to grow into the Remy era.

On another note Pastor Bob was a piece of work and should have been castrated.

So the Remy era has begun, and it was better than I expected - I like him and think he will be a good team leader - I didn’t care for the reveal of his tragic backstory at the end, that was cliched, and there were a few times he seemed a bit over the top, but overall I liked him and thought he gelled well with the rest of the team.

The case was really good, twisted as usual, I figured there had to be more than just 2 forbidden lovers killing their parents, but I didn’t see the cult angle coming. I liked it a lot, and I felt some sympathy for Lilly in the end, she had been totally used and brainwashed by these scumbags. I’m not sure who was worse, Pat/Vivian or Bob, both were evil human waste and it was a wild plot how they hooked up to form their cult. I like when the cases are more in depth than they first seem and this one was good in that regard, it gave us good twists and investigation.

I liked Dylan as Remy.  I thought he fit in well.  He is different enough from Jess that I won't be comparing them.

I also enjoyed the storyline last night.  I liked the direction it went after what I originally thought the storyline would be.

I don't know....the case was weird, and I like weird. But I'm not sure I like McDermott chewing the scenery when he confronts the perps. I hope he dials it back a lot in future episodes. Unless he's trying to become a silly David-Caruso-in-CSI-Miami meme, in which case, chew away, Dylan.

More from Dylan McDermott. He addresses his Wheatley role vs. his new Remy Scott role.

‘FBI: Most Wanted’: Dylan McDermott Addresses Fans Who Can’t See Past Richard Wheatley:

“They’re Going To See Me In A Completely Different Light”

Read it here:  https://tinyurl.com/ybz2kdlp

There's some Wheatley smutz on my FBI:Most Wanted.

McDermott is like John Wayne. You can put him in different things and call him different names and make him a bad guy or a good guy but after all is said and done he is the same guy in every role.  He is the cool and hip and entitled guy who plays by his own rules. Always. And he is the same here. There is not an iota of difference between the man I saw in this episode tonight and the Richard Wheatley OTT cartoon villain from Law and Order: OC. His motives are different and he is not a villain in FBI, but his entire attitude and persona are the same. And I hate it.

That little stunt where he takes Vivian into the room and menaces her without anyone else around to see will play out great in court. I am sure the prosecution will love that he did that. She can say anything she wants about what happened in there and there is no one who can prove otherwise.  Very stupid self-indulgent police move. But we needed to see McDermott flex and pose and prove his character is super macho guy who plays by his own set of rules.

And the plot was ridiculous. Seriously ridiculous.

Replacing Jess with a McDermott comic book cop with a mysterious and dramatic history may make this unwatchable for me. If it had been anybody but McDermott.

S03•E17 - Covenant

Unlike Jess, Remy seems edgier and street smart. He is more like a fugitive hunter rather than a profiler. I still see some of Richard Wheatley in him, the smug on his face when he does these - shakes the clergyman’s hand, whispers that he will have a hard time at the pearly gates and when he confronts Vivian in that motel room, alone. I don’t hate Remy Scott (yet).

Re COTW, the cult story that they did back in S01•E06 (Prophet) was so much better.

I still miss Jess LaCroix! 😭

Jess was a great profiler. He was so good at finding fugitives by getting into their heads, thinking about how they’d think and feel, what their next steps will be etc. He always empathized with them. He had that ability to see the human side of those monsters. These are the reasons why I like Jess. 👍🏻

I have to agree with Andyourlittledog2. Too much smug arrogance for the Remy character. But I have to say Remy has screen presence (ie: I did not flip away from watching the show, was quite captivated) and I came close-ish to shedding a tear when he told his my-lil-bro-got-killed story at the end. Agree it's too soon to lay on his character's tear-jerker backstory.

I would love to compare & contrast Remy's entry with Gary Cole who took over from Gibbs on NCIS starting in October 2021. Online fans seem to have taken well to the Gary Cole character on NCIS character. One big difference is that Cole's character is ~15 episodes in now and we still don't know his backstory as much as we know Remy's. Anyone else a fan of NCIS as well?

Raising hand — I am!  I have been so pleasantly surprised at how much I’m enjoying Gary Cole on NCIS.  Interesting point about the difference between Dylan’s joining the team vs. Gary’s.  I’ll be back for more FBI:MW but I hope they figure out how to keep Dylan from absolutely chewing up the scenery.  That won’t work.  This team has such strengths that each one brings — we don’t need Dylan sucking the air out of the team.

You guys (as NCIS & FMW fellow viewers) are fun! From this 1 first episode with Remy, it looks like this might become "the Remyremyremy" FBI show. Contrast with the new Gary Cole-led NCIS, it did not become the Colecolecole show, but it's more of an ensemble now, where even the NCIS coroner and lab tech get to sizeable screentime.

Maybe FBW figured they scored a superstar in Dylan M, so they are making it the big Remy show (based on publicity, and this first episode).

Isn't it nuts that Dylan M is 60, while Gary Cole is 66 in real life? They both look great, but Dylan M could pass for 45-50 while some online NCIS viewers have said that Cole looks too old for a field agent.

I am definitely more drawn to the Gary Cole NCIS character.

NCIS bro here 😎yeah, Gary Cole didn’t open up until several episodes later whereas Remy shares his past & the end of his 1st! He’s definitely tougher & more of a bachelor than LaCroix. A lot like Gibbs! Haha

I was so soured on Dylan McDermott from his Wheatley character on L&O: OC that I didn't know what to expect. As some others mentioned, I was pleasantly surprised. Remy can be a little off putting when he leans in and trys to be intimidating, but I overall like the character.

I still miss Jess but I do NOT miss his family drama which to me always slowed down the story. I just want good, smart cases of the week. Hopefully we'll have more of those now!

I don't watch Law & Order OC because there was too much Saint Olivia in the early episodes so I wasn't influenced by Dylan's performance as that character.  I thought he fit in nicely and did well with the new team.  I hope that continues.

I like to wait for awhile before watching a new show in case it gets canned early.  I would look at the episode threads each week here for L&O: OC during it's first season to see how it was progressing. When I saw how it continued to be intertwined so closely intertwined with SVU during that time it kind of chased me away too with all of the Saint Olivia mentions. I still haven't tried watching it especially after seeing all the vocal criticisms of the character Dylan played.

I have Paramount + so I might give Dylan's first episode of MW a try....

I liked this episode pretty good, once again a couple of evil villains, I liked seeing the team track them down, and I’m liking Remy a lot so far, I was hesitant about him coming on but he’s fitting in really well. Good case with good twists and action, I did wonder what happened to the translator who they originally thought was the perp? Did I miss something there? Another good episode overall.

Agreed.  It was a good episode #2 for Remy.  The only part where I rolled my eyes was when literally the exact moment after they wrapped up the case, Hana and Remy were walking and Hana said “I’m sorry; I guess I’m distracted; I’m just thinking about my birth mom”.  What??  It was such a personal moment shoehorned into the case wrap-up moment.  Of course, I thought what would the PrimeTimer folks think?!?

Well, something weird happens. I don’t hate Remy Scott. Maybe it’s a good thing because I still don’t like Kristin and Hana. These two roles are badly miscast, IMHO.

Remy should have the “talk” with Hana about being distracted at work in a life/death situation instead of trying to be buddy-buddy with her. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I seriously hope that we won’t be seeing Hana’s brother again. Her personal drama adds nothing to this show. Why she gets to have a personal storyline again when we know nothing about Ivan’s family? And ohh, no workplace romance between them please‼️

One thing that I don’t really understand, why Farzad/Badi Wazeer raped Art Weller (1st victim). Was something bad happened in Afghanistan, something sexual? Did I miss something?

I miss the profiling part of this show. I miss seeing Jess sits at a table, puts his profiler hat on and starts digging into criminals’ head.💔

I have a pretty strong personal opinion on personal stories in police procedurals - I can't stand it. Couldn't stand Stabler's family on SVU and still can't stand them on L&O-OC. Didn't give a darn about LaCroix's family on Most Wanted. Olivia Benson's son Noah can kick rocks.

I just feel that the personal stuff slows down the episode. I prefer to have the episode focus on the case at hand. L&O Mothership had very little personal drama and focused on cases.

Just my opinion...

SVU opened the door to widely for personal issues to become part of that show. Bobby on CI's personal issues didn't really bother me on that show until Nicole Wallace kept reappearing over and over to torment him. The St. Oliva Hour stuff on SVU finally got to be too much for me when Noah kept ending up in peril along with those awful episodes where she got kidnapped by one of the recurring criminals that kept haunting that show to a nauseating degree. I much preferred SVU as an actual ensemble show like it was created as.

I liked that the L&O mothership just gave glimpses into things happening in the characters lives. It was just enough to know what was going on without it taking away from what the show was about for the most part.

Jess's home life on MW did get to be too much on the show. It's not why I stopped watching though. The cases got to be a bit overwhelming for me content wise with how brutal they were. The episode where I started realizing this was the one where a boyfriend and girlfriend were on a callous murder spree where I think she ended up as the survivor out of the two. I didn't like how I felt for a few days after that episode and my viewing started to trail off after that until I didn't pick up the show this season. I've seen people mention that this show is similar in content to Criminal Minds which is a show I've only seen a handful of episodes of because of content so I guess that might be why this one ended up getting to me so much.

They are deliberately showing scenarios where Remy is an understanding and chill new boss to make him likeable to viewers (much like Gary Cole's new NCIS Parker). I'm sure Remy has a cliché "hidden dark side/ past" which all crime leaders must have revealed, especially given Dylan M's brooding looks / demeanour and past stereotyped roles (AHS show, for eg). And his relative youth compared to Gary Cole's character haha!

Be thankful we did not see Remy visiting his Alzheimer's mom (that he mentioned) at the end of this episode. Yet. New Zealand broski was cheesy, my bet is he won't be back this season, or ever. Maybe just mentioned as part of Hana's personal story.

I'm a new viewer, but I thought Hana was cast to show viewers an "average cutie" on tv, as opposed to the typical knockout ethereal beauties usually on tv, like Kristin and FBI's Isobel.

NCIS viewers will remember this baddie (the interpreter with the big face) as being on the Jan 3rd 2022 NCIS episode "Pledge of Allegiance" as the innocent, wronged Afghan-born US navy chief officer.
