He is in the hospital for a month and he lost 123 pounds on a controlled diet!  Betcha he was eating triple or quadruple the calories when he was 'dieting' at home.  And he will go back to it as soon as he is able.  But this shows just how much a person can lose at 700 pounds if they are REALLY following the diet.  Not the measly 30-40 pounds per month Dr. Now usually asks for.

Isn't there a Riverwalk there, or something?

The Riverwalk is in San Antonio, but Austin has amazing parks and trails all over the city. It’s a beautiful place to walk, when it’s not 100 degrees outside.

Thor needs his own show. It really could be about anything, we just want more Thor! Maybe Thor goes to Ren Faires around the country!

I'd watch that! So would my family and friends..

So he is just above 500 pounds on the controlled diet, and Dr. Now will try to do the surgery even though he thinks this guy has zero ability to control his eating on his own.

I don't like that he is still just laying down and not trying to sit up.  He is too afraid of discomfort, odd for someone with so much self-inflicted pain.

Well, I was planning to enjoy my pie until I heard about sitting in waste. Will I be able to savor it? I'll let you know!

There are a lot of situations on this show that kill your appetite.

Well he lacks motivation since he was melting into the bed for 7 years and did nothing, maybe he was depressed but he's so deconditioned that its taking forever to get him to even sit on the side of the bed.

Even if he hits 300 pounds I wouldn't trust him to go home and continue.

Does his wife visit him I wonder?

I bet Dr. Now will be bringing in specialists in paralysis, and someone with a specialty in wound care for those giant, infected sores.

He *has* to. This guy needs an entire team.

Dammit, Me, why are you getting so riled up? This it TLC, after all

He was moving those legs a lot more, so that's good. Its not fair to put this on him, but you think of all the people who have no chance of using their legs again no matter how hard they try, it pisses you off that he just gave up & ate himself immobile. But there's obviously mental struggles there and I do hope he succeeds.

For all you future Poundticipants, try to get Dr. Now to keep you in a controlled environment to lose weight.  That way you don't have to prove to him that you are truly committed and you can get the surgery easier.

Fortunately, I've been Facebook chatting with my daughter-in-law during the show. Otherwise, I would have put my head in the oven.

And Brenda would have put it in a salad for Abi.

Hola peeps! Just got in, my brother insisted on taking us out to dinner.

What'd I miss? Let me guess. Really really loves food. Played football. Mother worked. From a culture where food was really important. Got a job but got too big and had to quit. Dr. Now is his last chance. He really means it this time. He'll show Dr. Now!

He got in an accident and was partially paralyzed. He actually did telemarketing from bed.

There's going to be surgery.

Really, Brenda couldn't find a day off to make a trip to Houston?  She could have come in the morning and left in the afternoon... or come for a weekend.  I don't think she is working 6-7 days a week, she used to serve on him hand and foot before, after all.  Something tells me their relationship isn't as strong as he thinks it is.

Is the wife a brain surgeon doing emergency surgery and can't leave a patient? What kind of job won't let you off work for your husband's surgery?

I think he said she works in the refinancing department and then a job opened up in customer service that he can do from home. Before he got off the phone on his work call he thanked them for calling, so I'm thinking he's just answering incoming calls.

@Pepper Mostly, he stayed at the hospital and he lost 201 pounds. But has no self-control so I’m going to guess he ultimately fails.

But how come family members weren't sneaking in pizzas to help??

Just got back from the gym!  Do we like this person or no?

I feel sorry for him. He was bed bound for 7 years after being hit by a car, has frozen joints, and his back is one giant bedsore. He is in constant pain. Yes, he at his way to over 700 pounds, but I can't imagine his life.

Maybe but it sounds like Abi stopped working while he was in the hospital and some people really do need every hour's worth of pay in their paychecks. Some employers just aren't sympathetic about leave.

I don’t think he had any visitors but he could have paid a Door dash guy to dress up and act like a long lost sibling.

They aren't in town.  That's the only way!  Driving 6 hours roundtrip to deliver a pizza isn't all that appealing.

The pie was delicious!

I had rack of lamb with mashed potatoes, and a piece of lemon raspberry cake. Though I only ate half the rack and a few bites of potato.  I wasn't going to skimp on that cake!

Good question since they only live 2+ hours away from that hospital.
