The Golden Bachelor - General Discussion

Couple is getting married. It will be televised, like other BN couples have been in the past. Not getting a down payment on a house, but getting a trip. (I do think another couple got a trip in BN history, not sure which part of the franchise it was.)

Welp, I don't think that news changed Bachelor Nation as we know it, TBH.

I’m going to miss this show and all you guys on this thread.  It’s been a blast.  Hate to see it go.  ♥️   Guess I’ll be watching the Joey Bachelor.  Hope to see you all there. 🌹

The minute she touched his shoulder on the highway.  I think Leslie scared him with the sex talk.

IMO, virtually immediately. Long marriage until death did them part. No emotional mess, but a calming presence. Took the dangerous highway and hair-wrecking wind like a champ. Expressive in her affection. "Victim" of Kathy. Athletic. Close to Gerry’s age. Hadn't dated Prince.

At least we didn't have to see Leslie arrive at the platform in her 60 grand dress and then have to drive away in the limo crying, I liked this format better (but I haven't watched The Bachelor in a decade so this could be the norm now?)

Leslie was really annoying.  She isn't ready.  She knew there was 2 of them and a story to go through and she acted like she was guaranteed.

Well, we heard Gerry say things to her that sounded like he thought she was "the one".

Leslie also mentioned that there were things he said to her (or that they said to each other) during the night, things the audience did not hear. That's why she felt blindsided, since in real time, it was only a day or so between that night and him suddenly having a wall up.

And when she called him on all of the things he had said, leading her to believe they were planning a life together, Gerry answered "Well, I did feel that way, at the time" or maybe he said "in the moment", I don't remember. Yikes.

That said, I found it a bit sad that Leslie clung to him a so long during the live portion of the show.

It was all pretty uncomfortable and Leslie was a bit (a lot) over the top!  I think the final two usually expect or hope to be the one but you def have to be realistic and expect it might not be you too! Of course he has to appear to be in love with both, it's standard practice. I think if it had been the other way around Theresa would have handled it with a little (a lot) more grace.  And especially at this age, you should be better prepared to handle emotional disappointment..... it's a dating competition.  I found her annoying when she was so upset that this played out on TV for everyone to see.  Really? ...... she should date privately then.

After watching the episode, I don't want Faith to be Golden Bachelorette, either.

The camera kept showing her and she had a bitter, pissed off look on her face the entire time. Like, I get it, you got your heart broken. But it's been 3 months since filming ended, three times longer than the journey itself, and you had Women Tell All to air your grievances on camera - which you did. The pettiness is unbecoming and almost seems put-upon.

I don't know, it just rubbed me the wrong way.

I mean Leslie did keep talking about “writing her vows.” It did seem like she thought they literally get married on the show.

I think the "vows" is the portion at the end where they both get together and share how they feel and it usually ends with a proposal*. I think Leslie was referring to what she was going to say to him there.

*The one that Jesse said was the nicest one he'd ever seen and all I could think about is how Gerry straight up negged Theresa with his "I realized I can't live with you..........................................................I can't live without you."  Maybe some women would find that romantic but I don't think I'd ever want to be with someone who wanted to make me feel uncomfortable at the most romantic moment of our lives.

address what?

Address the lies ABC and Gerry told about his dating past.

If that were true, I don't think we would have seen him act the way he did.  He wouldn't have brought Leslie as far as he did and basically told her she was the one.  And he wouldn't have acted like he did with Theresa at the beginning of their overnights.  It didn't seem like he perked up until she started telling him about her job.

By the way, along with not being negged during a proposal.  I also don't want the first thing my future fiance tells his family about me is "she's a great businesswoman."

I'm going to have rewatch some of the episode, I only saw one glimpse of Faith but I was double tasking and obviously I can't do two things and stay focused anymore lol.  I guess they haven't selected the next Golden B yet?

Mes amis, I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing this GB journey with you, because you were all in it for the right reasons.

Oh, sure, we had our ups and downs, difficult decisions, and didn't want to break any hearts, but as for our posts, we meant them at the time.

It wasn't easy---there were tears---but after communing with the Spirits of TWOPers Past, I've concluded I can't live with you, because....

I can't live without you! PSYCH!

January 4, mes amis! 💋

I thought it was when he found out her bank balance

Bingo!
💓💰

I think it was when Theresa hinted that she was financially stable is when his table was turned. Leslie was too childlike and he probably thought it best to spend his golden years (hopefully) traveling around with someone who won’t be dependent on him to pick up the slack in the affordability department. Also dinners out, too, if it is true he wants the woman to pay her way (except for some occasions), as said by his old girlfriend.

Maybe you'll get the perfect pair for Christmas and can save them for the big event.  I wonder if they sell $60,000 pjs?

And speaking of, my goodness! $60k for a dress is fiscally irresponsible. Did she think that was a flex? Did she mean $6,000? (still a lot)

Theresa also wears those shorty short shorts. I have tried to wear mine over the past….. decade lol, but legs just arent the same as my hay days, and those flapping upper knees! And I was as skinny as she is! Skinny does not mean you can still wear shorty shorts and look good. Old ladies in super shorty shorts is crazy!

I thought of this thread when I saw the pictures of Dolly Parton at that halftime show.  Her legs (and the rest of her) looked great!

To be fair to the rest of us, Dolly has specially constructed gloves that she wears for all public appearances.  They smooth her skin and may be like lightweight Spanx (her fingertips are "bare" so she can play the guitar...and maybe other necessities).  I think she wore a fabulous/custom body suit, "Spanx-like," to make her 77yr old body look as good as possible.  STILL, she did look fabulous.

The show provides all those gowns...and networks/producers are rarely allowed to be "fiscally irresponsible."  No matter the MSRP, movies and TV shows never pay full price...whether it's six or sixty.

I think Gerry should pick Robyn from Sister Wives. They can (fake) cry all the time together. And it will be fun to watch them battle to make everything about them.

Now thatwould be great, to  see Gerry fake out cry Robin.

I haven't read all your comments  for the show tonight yet, but damn Leslie is depressing, she is not stable enough emotionally or mentally to be the next  Bachelorette but maybe she's the type the produces would want, a bat  shit crazy lady who would bring the drama.

Theresa is smart with money. I'm sure she will insist on a prenup.

On "90-Day Fiance," we call that a Pre-Nump ... and the person requested to sign DID NOT SIGN!   Theresa may be smart with money, but she's so clingy, ga-ga, overly demonstrative, and so creepily in luuuuuuuvvvv...I don't know if her brain has yet activated in this romance.

If I weren’t picked like Leslie, I wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of slobbering.  Get a grip woman.  It’s only been a few months.  Or maybe the contract told her to turn on the waterworks.

The entire filming took place in less then a month.

I liked  Leslie's free spirit and youthful vibe at first but as the season wore on, her always dwelling on how she 'never'  had love made it sound  like she never had anyone but she was MARRIED  TWICE.

Maybe they  were both terrrible men but either way she was  responsible for picking them and probably had a part also  in all her relationships not working out, she  has had plenty of opportunities to find love.

Either way I hope she finds comfort in knowing  Gerry does not have the 'integrity'  she thought he has and that Theresa's portfolio  was the 'big change'  that happened over night.

I mean, I knew Gerry loved the fame and the ladies but I didnt'  know that he was a gold digger too.
