AimingforYoko August 25, 2014 Share August 25, 2014 An ABC Special hosted by Grey's Anatomy's Chandra Wilson. The show will feature interviews with creators and writers, while ranking the best of the songs. Airing Sunday, Sept. 7th at 7/6 Central. Conjunction Junction is a lock for #1, right? 1 Link to comment
WendyCR72 August 25, 2014 Share August 25, 2014 Oooh, is it sad that I got a huge smile reading this thread? This Gen X kid LOVED her some Schoolhouse Rock! So cool a special is coming. ABC should have never stopped it to begin with. And I'm another who always thinks of "Conjunction Junction", although "Just A Bill" ranks highly with me, too. :-) Link to comment
roamyn August 26, 2014 Share August 26, 2014 Count me as another who loves "Conjunction Junction (what's ur function? )". But my favorite is "Skate 8". "If u could skate a figure 8." It's so very soft pop of the times, and a delight to watch. Link to comment
bosawks August 26, 2014 Share August 26, 2014 Nobody from my generation can recite the preamble without singing it. 8 Link to comment
anstar August 26, 2014 Share August 26, 2014 I always liked A Noun is A Person, Place or Thing...The Preamble...Interjections. America Rock, (No More Kings, Elbow Room, The Shot Heard Round the World} and Grammar Rock were my favorites. I bought the DVD and my children learned to sing the preamble like I did. 1 Link to comment
AimingforYoko August 26, 2014 Author Share August 26, 2014 I like this cover of "The Tale of Mr. Morton" by Skee-Lo. Link to comment
merylinkid August 26, 2014 Share August 26, 2014 Honestly, how do you compare, science, grammar, money, history, math, etc. to find the best? Link to comment
smittykins August 30, 2014 Share August 30, 2014 Being from the original Schoolhouse Rock generation, I was amused when Hooked On Phonics came on the scene and implied that they invented the concept of teaching through catchy music. I was like, "hello, Schoolhouse Rock?" As someone on the old TWoP thread mentioned, they weren't afraid to introduce topics like base-12 in "Little Twelvetoes" and infinity in "Figure Eight." When I watch "Interjections" on YouTube nowadays, I like to substitute some, um...more adult expressions. :) 1 Link to comment

SVNBob August 31, 2014 Share August 31, 2014 I like this cover of "The Tale of Mr. Morton" by Skee-Lo. From the Schoolhouse Rock! Rocks album. I've still got that disc. Probably should pull it out again soon. Lots of good covers on it. Blind Melon's cover of Three is a Magic Number is also very good. When I watch "Interjections" on YouTube nowadays, I like to substitute some, um...more adult expressions. :) Let me guess...there's a list of seven words.... 1 Link to comment
AimingforYoko September 8, 2014 Author Share September 8, 2014 Two surprises, one pleasant, one disappointing: "Electricity" made the top five. It's in mine, but it isn't mentioned that much in most people's. The disappointing one is that no Multiplication Rock song made it. It's the one that started the whole thing, after all. 1 Link to comment
kathyk24 September 8, 2014 Share September 8, 2014 I just finished watching this and it's great. The special goes into detail about how the shorts were created. I won't spoil the number one video. Link to comment
mustbekarma September 8, 2014 Share September 8, 2014 I was singing right along. I forgot how much I loved these. I always loved the Verb one. My favorite part was the little boy being hugged by his mom at the end. I always thought the figure 8 one was beautiful, too. Now I want the whole collection. Link to comment
GreatKazu September 9, 2014 Share September 9, 2014 I only caught the last 15 minutes. Damnit!! Can anyone post the list? Link to comment
WendyCR72 September 9, 2014 Share September 9, 2014 And I missed the whole thing. :-( Perhaps post the list using spoiler tags? Link to comment
anstar September 9, 2014 Share September 9, 2014 (edited) I was hoping they'd put it on their OnDemand list but no such luck. :( I missed it too. I have all of them on DVD, but I wanted to see the special. Darn! <---(Interjection) Edited September 9, 2014 by anstar 1 Link to comment
AimingforYoko September 9, 2014 Author Share September 9, 2014 (edited) Top 5: 5. Interjection! 4. Electricity 3 . Lolly, lolly, lolly, Get Your Adverbs Here 2. I'm Just A Bill 1. Conjunction Junction Edited September 9, 2014 by AimingforYoko Link to comment

AConspiracy September 10, 2014 Share September 10, 2014 I got a "politically correct" vibe when they showcased "Verb:That's What's Happening" the last thing. Link to comment
CherryMalotte September 24, 2014 Share September 24, 2014 Oh no! I totally missed this and am now a sad panda...shucks. I too love Conjunction Junction, but the softer melodies of Figure Eight and Three Is A Magic Number are really my faves. I bought these on vhs when my daughter was a wee one and while she never quite got the Schoolhouse fever like I did she did enjoy them. Funny how Three Ring Government with the circus theme is such an apt description of politics in general. 2 Link to comment
GaT September 25, 2014 Share September 25, 2014 I was hoping they'd put it on their OnDemand list but no such luck. :( I missed it too. I have all of them on DVD, but I wanted to see the special. Darn! <---(Interjection) Damn, I knew nothing about it until I just opened this thread, & it's not even on OnDemand? That suckis. Link to comment
lucindabelle September 26, 2014 Share September 26, 2014 I totally still sing 3,6,9,.... When multiplying. Cannot think about multiplying by 8 without a fat cat and an 8 ball. Little 12 toes was spooky but cool. And yes I can sing the preamble. Everyone in ap history could. Link to comment
AimingforYoko September 27, 2014 Author Share September 27, 2014 Cannot think about multiplying by 8 without a fat cat and an 8 ball. The cat one was "Naughty Number Nine". Eight was "Figure Eight". Link to comment
anstar September 28, 2014 Share September 28, 2014 Figure 8 always sounded like a lullaby to me. Or at least it lulled me into a stupor as a kid. Didn't much like that one. For some reason, I've had the doo-wop "Victim of Gravity" stuck in my head for a couple of days now. At least it's a bouncy earworm. Link to comment
QuinnM October 7, 2014 Share October 7, 2014 Damn, I knew nothing about it until I just opened this thread, & it's not even on OnDemand? That suckis. I was on the same boat so I put it into my tivo. Today it showed up. It will be rebroadcast Sunday, Oct 12th at 3PM CST. Link to comment
Qoass October 15, 2014 Share October 15, 2014 And TV Guide is listing it for Sunday 10/19 at 4pm ET. I don't know if that's national or just my local ABC station with an hour to kill. Link to comment
anstar October 19, 2014 Share October 19, 2014 I don't know where you are, but it's on for me (yay) at 3 pm. local. I'm in central Texas. Link to comment
Sharpie66 October 19, 2014 Share October 19, 2014 I'm in Chicagoland, and it will be on in ten minutes--yay! Link to comment
smittykins October 19, 2014 Share October 19, 2014 DVR'd it(Upstate NY), and watching it now! "Interjections! Show excitement! Or emotion!" Link to comment
anstar October 20, 2014 Share October 20, 2014 So when you're happy (Hurray!) I got to see it. I like Conjunction Junction but it's not my favorite. I thought it was neat that some medical school had the first year students learn the Telegraph Line song and that immigrants trying to become citizens would be shown I'm Just A Bill. Link to comment
Qoass October 20, 2014 Share October 20, 2014 Okay, I missed a big chunk of this the first time around so I was looking forward to a rewatch. So of course my cable went black for over 10 minutes of it this weekend. Hey, Xfinity: Lolly, lolly, lolly get your failure here... Link to comment
Badger October 20, 2014 Share October 20, 2014 This is weird. I DVR'ed it yesterday and watched it last night. Then I went to watch it again this morning, and somehow it had turned into a surfing competion. Link to comment
Bruinsfan October 23, 2014 Share October 23, 2014 It never aired in my viewing area—eductional programming will get bumped if there's any sort of sporting event that can be shown instead. Link to comment
