Artsda July 29, 2023 Share July 29, 2023 So obviously this was filmed same day as previous Salem day. Nicole has the exact same hair but new clothes/day. boes July 29, 2023 Share July 29, 2023 Jabeeezus, Sloan, even in your dreams, Eric turns out to be a putz. LISTEN!! Eric so badly wants to be a DOD that apparently he became a priest without reading the fine print that although people would have to call him "Father" (Shades of 50 Shades of Grey, God help us!), he wouldn't be allowed to deposit sperm anywhere that would work. So many of his house plants died a slow and strangely sexual death but I digress......) Then, after he got defrocked literally by Kristen and again, literally by his own dumb ass actions, Nicole married him so he could practice being a DOD on her loaner baby, Holly. Holly, apparently, didn't kiss ass well enough to satisfy Fadda Eric so he took off for Africa, where he could be the Great White Father to the embarrassment and infuriation of countless viewers, so he came back to Salem, his finely rounded ass intact. Unfortunately, that's also where most of his thinking functions are encased. Holly, Schmolly, only a bio baby will do for this AARP bio elder baby named Eric, so now some young, extremely hot woman is willing to ruin her life for anger whispering Eric Brady who really, really really REALLY wants to be a DOD. And unto him, a child is born. Salem's next - and hopefully, very VERY successful, serial killer. 2 3 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133488-current-plots-discussion-ii-discussing-todays-episode-and-current-storylines/page/61/#findComment-8090191

Quote Also, not that this show is subtle about ANYTHING, but, please don't let the fact that Gwen's dress was too tight mean that there will be yet another pregnancy! I was so afraid of that, too. Frozendiva July 29, 2023 Share July 29, 2023 Eric, do you just want a bio kid because you just want to? Being a father is a 24/7 job for years. Sloan should have some smarts and realize that she may be raising the kid alone. A bit stupid to get knocked up when you and the daddy still don’t know each other well. And an independent test shows that Eric is the daddy. Too bad. A kid would soften EJ a bit. Gabi’s dress was interesting, and looked like two different dresses were sewn together. The fringe at the bottom? Gwen having a too tight dress? Yeah, maybe go up a size. These rich people can’t even coordinate two weddings on the same day? Have one in the living room, one in the garden or wine cellar. No guests, either. Leo’s suit was a choice. Dumb hospital to give Sloan the test results. She should show up on the security camera. 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133488-current-plots-discussion-ii-discussing-todays-episode-and-current-storylines/page/61/#findComment-8090471

DisneyBoy August 1, 2023 Share August 1, 2023 (edited) I missed the middle of today's ep. Was it ever explained why Eric was carrying around a box of baby booties? Was it some kind of ritual? I liked his quick one-sided chat by phone with an obviously disapproving Sami. It's a shame she isn't around to see firsthand how quickly Sloan is moving in on her brother. ...it's strange, but I still consider Sami and EJ the intended endgame, because the show pushed it so hard for so long. And yet, they've been apart now...what? 18 months? Something like that? A year? And no Sami. No sign of a reconciliation. Wouldn't it be bizarre if the thing that finally ended Ejami permanently was AS' pricey salary? 😄 And yet, even with them seemingly broken up for reals, Lucas still stands no chance cause he's in prison. What a weird turn of events. More Eric/Jada baby tension. I wonder where that's going. Frozendiva August 1, 2023 Share August 1, 2023 Sad that there was no bouquet toss. Just hand it to the single woman, aka Kristen. If I was Gwennie, I would be suspicious of my husband and my BFF hanging around. The cake looked good. How did Sloan change the results? Wouldn’t the doctor be sent a copy of the report with the real info? Sloan has a lot going for her - tall, model striking looks, a fancy well paying career. She does not need to stoop to games and tricks and scheming to keep a man. Eventually things will come out. They always do. If Eric wants to go back to Nicole, he will. His free will to do so. The last Kristen/Brady custody trial was also epically stupid (with a better outcome.) But it was insane how that judge refused to consider Kristen’s past crimes because she was pardoned and had to literally see her attempt murder not to give her custody. This judge was even worse. Again, somehow Kristen getting a pardon meant she couldn’t even consider her “unsettling” crimes yet she had no problem using things Brady wasn’t even charged with against him. And wouldn’t the previous judge have made note that Kristen lost custody because she attacked Brady’s then girlfriend with scissors? Even if she thought Brady was unfit, the more rational solution would be to either put Rachel in foster care or give her to relatives, not hand her off to her rapist, often incarcerated mother. Kristen seemed too surprised to be called into court to have bribed the judge herself, but I was hoping we’d see a scene of Megan or someone else talking to the judge. The only saving grace of this will be if Kristen/Rachel move away like Theresa/Tate did. But as much as I can’t stand Rachel, I’d hate even more to see Kristen get a win. Another acceptable outcome, IMO, is if being around Kristen more makes the scales fall from Rachel’s eyes and she sees who her mother really is. Either that or Kristen realizes what a demon her daughter is and demands Brady take custody back. 3 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133488-current-plots-discussion-ii-discussing-todays-episode-and-current-storylines/page/61/#findComment-8094111

I appreciate that the writers have kept the pace of this storyline (from kidnapping on) a bit more leisurely and at a more traditional "old school" soap opera pace. As a returning viewer from way back, this is something I like. I feel like way too many of the storylines are rushed. They are rushed...or missing scenes...or paced in an inconsistent way. This Abe stuff does feel old school and I have enjoyed some of it...but I'm growing weary. Firstly, Kim Cole started off great but messed up the climax. She gave us no heartfelt breakdown performance, somewhat invalidating her character's drawn-out screentime. I'm also left wondering why the business with Sloan's dead parents or whatever should have this much impact on Abe specifically. That was Chanel and Paulina's storyline. What is the purpose of putting Abe through all these consequences? Other than to eat up the actor's episode count... And now we have amnesiac Abe, which is unnecessary. Mark my words: one day soon, he'll get a bonk on the head (Jack) or a serum (Will), we'll get "treated" to some flashbacks of him and Paulina being forced together and then suddenly he'll remember everything....and then he'll be backburnered again and this storyline will have amounted to nothing. It's happened repeatedly over the last few years. Characters have obstacles thrown at them but never really develop. And when they should, ie, Kristen's monthly crimes having consequences and keeping her out of her daughter's life, they're handwaved away so the cycle can restart. Ron just recycles the deaths, resurrections, thwarted weddings and corporate powerplays and it all starts feeling meaningless fast. Let us know when you find yourself numb and indifferent, Helen - its happened eventually to us all! 4 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133488-current-plots-discussion-ii-discussing-todays-episode-and-current-storylines/page/61/#findComment-8094197

Everybody else is just subjecting this man to what must feel like physical contact from complete strangers. Who in their right mind thinks someone would enjoy that? And, of course, we all knew that Paulina would throw herself at Abe, after doing her very best Foghorn Leghorn imitation. I really want a friendship between Sloan and Melinda - they seem like two people who have enough in common that there would be a connection and they seem to genuinely like each other. DisneyBoy August 3, 2023 Share August 3, 2023 I was about to ask the same thing! Is this a November baby? I haven't kept track of the timeline. I so enjoyed KdP's Eve today. What a well-done and overdue epilogue. I love that she isn't turning the other cheek. Hold onto that grudge! Hate Ben! He deserves it. But I did feel a bit of foreboding energy in her. Hopefully it wasn't intentional. I don't want Eve to be like Ava, claiming sanity and then going nuts again over and over. Let her get out, let her move on in LA, let her be happy. ...what was with that transition though? "I hate Ben!" and then it immediately cuts to Alex. Just cutesy editing? Or *gulp* hints that BenAlex is really a thing now? Don't think we haven't noticed that it's once again this guy stalking Chad and his woman, just as it was years ago with Abigail. Nice moment of character history between Roman, Doc and Kate. Of course Eric's parents are protective over him...and of course Kate wants to give the hurt, powerful single woman a chance. Makes sense. And rather than argue, the trio smile, knowing each other well. 🙂 Nice! I even liked Sloan ripping into Eric. He was being old fashioned and weird and she is clearly sensitive over whether he loves her at all. 4 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133488-current-plots-discussion-ii-discussing-todays-episode-and-current-storylines/page/61/#findComment-8095924
Frozendiva August 3, 2023 Share August 3, 2023 Caught up on the past two eps. Why was Abe just sent home and not spend a couple of weeks in an extended care type Centre where he can slowly meet and spend time with the folks who know him and are family and friends? Here, go home to a strange place, and a hovering overcompensating wife. If he is well enough to go home, is his wheelchair for transport only or is he still using it and is the home accessible? If he does not want to stay at his own home, rent a place of his own. Steve may have been kind to offer him the guest room, but I hope that *he* will be caring for him. At least ask his wife first. She is not obliged to care for their friend. A day or two is one thing, but short or long term is an issue. Where are the supports for him? Brady deserved to lose Rachel. The court should have granted temp custody to her grandparents. Wendy, you are not in a position to give romantic advice to your much older brother. He was part of the DiMera family and should have a good radar. At least Nicole was making sense about wondering how Sloan got the test results. Tripp, Wendy is not some carnival prize that you won. boes August 4, 2023 Share August 4, 2023 (edited) Is Show trying to make Eric even more unlikeable? If so, they're doing a bang up job of it. His insistence that the baby carry his last name proves once again that Eric looks at this child as nothing more than a trophy for himself. It's bad enough to hear Roman and Kate and Marlena enable that bullshit, but they also talk about Sloan "giving" Eric a child. What the actual fuck?? I wish Sloan would leave Salem in her rear view mirror for parts unknown, leaving Eric with the sadz because she took "his" baby away from him. Then I want Holly, the kid who wasn't enough for him, to give him a good, swift kick in the nuts. Awww, poor Eric. So, not a spoiler, but anyone wanna bet that Eve has a previously unknown child, fathered by Harris back in the day, whose existence will come out sooner rather than later? Anyone give a rats ass? Between her suicide attempt, the drug bust, the drag racing gone wrong and then months of singing to Nick in his phantom mask she was never off screen 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133488-current-plots-discussion-ii-discussing-todays-episode-and-current-storylines/page/61/#findComment-8096674
DisneyBoy August 4, 2023 Share August 4, 2023 According to retcons, Father John managed to conceive with an invisible Asian lady despite being on screen consistently. So never say never. But yeah that would be stupid. I need to go search for Nick in his Phantom mask now! That sounds fantastic 😄 4 2 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133488-current-plots-discussion-ii-discussing-todays-episode-and-current-storylines/page/61/#findComment-8096795

Since Eve is still in her revenge mode, even if she says she is "cured," it is only a matter of time until she runs into him in the Square. I hope they keep her bed warm at Bayview. She'll be back. 1 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133488-current-plots-discussion-ii-discussing-todays-episode-and-current-storylines/page/61/#findComment-8096831

Please God no. NO. To all of that. Setting the groundwork here with Victor. Lots of weird stuff with Eric. He knows Chloe is BFFs with Nicole but asks her opinion on the ring? Really? And he lets Melinda straight into Sloan's apartment even though she's DA? Really? I'm enjoying the mix of storylines today. Could have done without so much Leo though. Is Tripp's main job to bring the beefcake these days? He seems shirtless a lot. Sad to say, but I'm kinda surprised Tripp didn't end up raped by Leo. 🤢 ...is Holly living at the DiMansion? They should have had her run into Rachel. Wonder why Melinda is helping Sloan. It gets her nothing. 2 1 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133488-current-plots-discussion-ii-discussing-todays-episode-and-current-storylines/page/61/#findComment-8097021
BuckeyeLou August 4, 2023 Share August 4, 2023 Goodness: Lots of shirtless men today! Xander, Eric, Dmitri, Tripp, Li Shin...fans were getting an eyeful :) I got a kick out of the scenes between Tripp & Leo...Tripp was clearly uncomfortable. Maggie & Xander's scenes were leaving lots of clues. I thought Nicole looked pretty, I was laughing at her wanting a Mimosa :) 4 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133488-current-plots-discussion-ii-discussing-todays-episode-and-current-storylines/page/61/#findComment-8097099

Apparently Matt Ashford suggested the Phantom knock off plot for Jack and Jen but the writers gave it to Nick and Eve https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hTOHzpdd6wU&t=8s&pp=ygUibmljayBhbmQgRXZlIHdpbmQgYmVuZWF0aCBteSB3aW5ncw%3D%3D 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133488-current-plots-discussion-ii-discussing-todays-episode-and-current-storylines/page/61/#findComment-8097221

I was also WTF at Eric, wanting Sloane to take his last name! What year are we in?! I have been married for decades & ever since I was a teenager, I knew I wasn’t going to take a man’s name if I ever got married and I didn’t. I have my own name. Can we repress women a little more? Ugh 🤢 4 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133488-current-plots-discussion-ii-discussing-todays-episode-and-current-storylines/page/61/#findComment-8097244
Frozendiva August 5, 2023 Share August 5, 2023 Unless Sloan wants to, there is no reason to take the Brady name, unless socially. She has her own name. Surely she is starting to see some of Eric’s red flags. The lame proposal, too. No need to marry someone out of obligation these days. And Sloan spilled her guts to Trask. Tripp seemed more lively with his Leo interactions. Aww Leo, spilling your guts too. Dimitri should come clean to Gwennie. Xander, it is way too soon to propose to Chloe. Wonder if he will reconcile with Victor - offscreen. Eve can just walk out of Bayview in two weeks and not face any charges for her actions? Nicole’s deep fried pickles and milkshake sounded awful. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133488-current-plots-discussion-ii-discussing-todays-episode-and-current-storylines/page/61/#findComment-8098479

tribeca August 7, 2023 Share August 7, 2023 Watching the show with mom today. Written on bottom screen Eric Brady is now being played by … mom says that would be cool In real life if one day my husband is played by Sam Elliot. I would laugh but she talking about my dad lol. 9 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133488-current-plots-discussion-ii-discussing-todays-episode-and-current-storylines/page/61/#findComment-8100445
BuckeyeLou August 7, 2023 Share August 7, 2023 Well, today's show was all about Proposals & Babies! Sarah needs to listen to her Mother. Xander needs to listen to Chloe(and maybe Xander could straighten out Rachel!), I like this version of EJ & Nicole together(I keep waiting for a mention of Sami...what would she think of this proposal?!). The "NuEric" is very nice looking with pretty blue eyes :) 5 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133488-current-plots-discussion-ii-discussing-todays-episode-and-current-storylines/page/61/#findComment-8100537
tribeca August 7, 2023 Share August 7, 2023 New Eric sounded southern to me. He is cute so he can stay for a bit but I need real Eric by soon. What would Sami think of Sloan ? Wonder if she would just think Sloan is better than Nicole. Sarah and Maggie are always a good pair. Maggie told her some solid truths. This is why Sarah kept it a secret from her mom. Does Chloe want more children ? Zander did not ask her that. She barely takes care of the kid she has. Poor Gwen. She is going to be very hurt by the Mattie/dimitri affair. Gwen might even go back to chewing her nails ! 1 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133488-current-plots-discussion-ii-discussing-todays-episode-and-current-storylines/page/61/#findComment-8100553
