aghst August 15, 2022 Share August 15, 2022 (edited) Premiers August 19 with two episodes. I assumed this is created by Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe) but IMDB lists her just as one of the writers and in only 1 of the 10 episodes of this first season. But the trailer features her a lot and she seems to be the best-known cast member. Or at least I don't recognize the others. I'd normally give anything from Horgan a try but Apple TV + shows have been uneven. Will probably still watch it though. Trailer features some gorgeous scenery, no doubt shot in 4K HDR. But as with Trying, it seems they manage to film a lot of bright, brilliant sunlight in gray London so they probably are going to do the same for Dublin and Ireland. BTW, reviews are starting to roll in, mostly good but not rave reviews, it appears. Edited August 15, 2022 by aghst 1 Link to comment
AngieBee1 August 16, 2022 Share August 16, 2022 IMDB isn't great with crediting. It is indeed created by Horgan and she is one of the leads. I am looking forward to it as I am a fan of a lot of the cast like Anne-Marie Duff (Shameless (UK), Eve Hewson (The Knick, Behind Her Eyes), Brian Gleeson and Claes Bang. 1 Link to comment
aghst September 10, 2022 Author Share September 10, 2022 Thing is though, what would they do in second or future seasons? Presumably the actors and the cast would want to do several seasons, get a good payday. Unless I missed that this is suppose to be a limited series, one season and done? If they show how JP died by the season finale, what happens in future seasons. Are they going to commit other bad acts? Or will they be constantly evading people questioning how JP died, even if the Claffins give up on trying to find out that JP may have been murdered? 1 Link to comment

aghst September 12, 2022 Author Share September 12, 2022 Interview with Sharon Horgan. Someone at Apple TV +, with whom she worked on Catastrophe, sent her an episode of the Belgian series Out-laws, on which Bad Sisters is based. Normally she's not interested in doing adaption, has had pitches to do a lot of them after Catastrophe but she looked at this one and decided it could be done. She talks about how in the world of streaming, it instantly goes out to a global TV audience whereas in the Catastrophe days, she worried about references which Americans might not get but would be obvious to Londoners. She's the original Fiona Gallagher on the British (and best) Shameless. She also played Elizabeth I in The Virgin Queen. She's good at playing strong characters as well. 3 1 Link to comment

The Local Property Tax on a place like Eva's probably wouldn't be more than €1,000 a year which she could easily pay monthly through her employment. That's fantastic! In the US the annual property tax in some states can be as high as 2.49% of the assessed property value. In my state it's "only" 0.98%, but the property values in my city are so high that most homeowners are paying well over $10k a year. Some of it is deductible from income taxes, but it's still a lot of money. BTW, do you know where in Ireland the show is set? I'm not very familiar with Irish geography, but it seems like they're in a smaller city, not a large urban area like Dublin. 1 Link to comment

In real life, you’d get no argument from me. But in a work of fiction where murder (of people) is the main theme, I hate to see the pets being collateral damage. But I do like the occasional dark comedy, so I guess I shouldn’t complain. 2 2 Link to comment

It seems like killing pets is Sharon Horgan's thing. I remember on Catastrophe the family dog was hit by a car in a very dark-comedic manner, and a lot of the PTV commenters were very upset. 2 1 Link to comment

I have seen Eve Hewson (Becka) in a few other things. She is Bono's daughter. I think she, Sarah Greene (Bibi), and Daryl McCormack (Matt) are outrageously attractive people. Eve Hewson reminds me of one of my other girl crushes, Imogen Poots. They could and should play sisters in something. Edited October 14, 2022 by luna1122again 1 Link to comment
aghst October 15, 2022 Author Share October 15, 2022 Horgan said she wouldn't rule out a second season. Quote It makes sense that Bad Sisters would end after just one season, but when asked if she’d consider continuing the series, Horgan didn’t shut down the idea entirely. “Well, it’s a really tricky thing. Because like you said, that’s the story. It began as a limited series, and that’s how I approached it. But everyone keeps telling me how much they love it, including our overlords,” Horgan told Decider. “So I don’t know. I guess if a really great idea came along. At the same time I’m really satisfied, really satisfied, with the way it turned out.” https://decider.com/2022/10/14/will-there-be-bad-sisters-season-2-apple-tv-sharon-horgan-interview/ If Apple threw her a lot of money, she might be tempted. It would be a Big Little Lies situation, it seems, if she and the cast wanted a big payday. 1 1 1 Link to comment
Pike Ludwell October 17, 2022 Share October 17, 2022 (edited) Another season could be justified if enough people grew to like the sisters and their interactions. [I just don't feel it.] It would have to be about something other than them scheming to murder someone - that would make them seem like psychopaths. Pamela November 8, 2022 Share November 8, 2022 Bad Sisters Renewed For Second Season I have no doubt that I’ll watch season 2, but I just don’t think it’s necessary. Can’t one terrific self-contained season ever be enough? (Big Little Lies, I’m looking in your direction.) 1 1 4 Link to comment

aghst November 8, 2022 Author Share November 8, 2022 (edited) Horgan was being canny. Probably she had a certain figure in mind and Apple met it. Thinking more about this, they probably wouldn't go back to some other odious character that they'd want to kill. So they could maybe create plot arcs based on the personal failings of each of the sisters. They feel bad about the guy losing his eye or Minna being killed. But "bad sisters" could now mean these personal foibles, not their homicidal plotting of season 1. It might be hard to create and sustain momentum through a season though, without a murder plot or mystery which probably helped keep up viewer interest. aghst November 9 Author Share November 9 (edited) Anyone find a good recap of season 1?
