What is on Whoopi's sweater today?!  A clown & a ghost?  I'm old, so maybe I'm missing some cultural reference?  Meanwhile, Martha Radditz was reporting from Ukraine, so scary what is happening over there, and scarier is the fact that some on the right-wing(Tucker Carlson) are apologists for Putin, as Whoopi pointed out.

Sara looks cute but looks like she’s channeling Sandy in Grease.

Wow. I didn’t remember Marlee was only 21 when she was in CoaLG.

Both Marlee and Smoky R are national treasures.

Camilla's husband is going to be the King of England one day.  Perhaps Sunny should show the woman some respect.

It would be pretty funny if some day (soon) Sunny gets in trouble (maybe SUSPENDED) for one of her self-righteous, judgmental, and irritating pronouncements makes someone in power REALLY ANGRY!

Lately, I'm IRRITATED by her new POSE.  Pose, pose, pose.  Gently puts one hand under her chin (thoughtfully), poses the fingers just so...looks around--and makes a new "I'm better than everyone" pucker.

They are Black, but not Latina as far as I know. Sara or someone said they could have got Maya Rudolf to guest & play Sunny, but Sunny pointed out that Maya is not Latina (she's Black & Ashkenazi Jewish). SNL probably made the correct decision to not attempt to satirize Sunny.

Isn't it sad that the main word in the above comment is forgotten by people like Sunny whose sense of humor is lacking and self-confidence won't allow her to enjoy satire.

And now, will comics and writers have to obtain DNA tests and stick to exact comparisons before performing?

On the topic of CURSIVE (and I'm OLDER than Joy!)...shouldn't what a person writes or prints simply be legible...hopefully neat--and spelled (mostly) correctly?  Who am I to judge the way someone has been taught to communicate?  A lot of PRINTING is nicer to read than some "penmanship."

I've always enjoyed noticing the differences in eras--the way my grandmothers wrote (fancy), my mother (beautifully), me (pretty nice), and my kids.  My sons are middle-aged and their writing looks like nice printing with the letters run together.  That's how they were taught in the 70s.  If people keep demanding CURSIVE, soon even printing won't be taught.

We expect that there will be discussion of the Russia-Ukraine military conflict on today's show, and probably future shows.

Please be aware that in addition to personal political opinions on politicians not being allowed, personal political opinions on the Russia-Ukraine military conflict are also not allowed. Saying "I hope casualties will be minimal" is okay; saying "I hope the Ukrainian military repels the Russian military" is not.

Mine always looks like a drunk spider fell into an inkwell ( that's a receptacle full of ink for those under 30) & wandered across the page once he escaped.

Sara looks very cute today.

Sorry, Joy, but Putin is a stronger leader than Biden. Stronger doesn’t mean better.

its pretty easy to be a "strong leader" when you're a dictator who doesn't have to answer to anyone--a congress, press, voters, etc.  You can just do what you want.

I don't know what was up with Whoopi's sweater. I have no idea if there were cultural references there. Martha Radditz gave a very informative report and she made it human as well.

The best two comedians who parodied The View panel were Kenan Thompson and Fred Armisen playing Whoopi and Joy. When they replaced those two with female comedians it wasn't very funny at all.

Marlee was busy reading Sunny's lips when Sunny turned away to pose for the camera, so Marlee was forced to turn around 160 degrees to read her signer's rendition of what Sunny was saying.  Have some respect for your guests!

Oh they were so good!  Nailed it! And everyone that came since sucked.  I don't see why they can't still do it.  Remote or otherwise.  Have you ever seen Portlandia?  Not sure if theres new eps.  I think it's done but you can find in reruns.  Really funny show.

I haven't noticed but most of the time I'm looking down at a Suduko puzzle and just look up once in awhile.  I'll watch her more closely

I disagree with the assertion they cover all hate crimes.  Sunny is a huge proponent of bail reform so you will never see them discuss a story wherein the perpetrator is recently released on bond.  A perfect example would be the Waukesha Christmas parade attack.  A man had been released on a paltry $1,000 bond which translates to $100, for trying to run over the mother of one of his children.  Within days of his release he proceeded to break through a barricade and mow down multiple parade goers culminating in six deaths.

I specifically tuned in to The View to see if they would discuss the tragedy.  Whoopi started the show saying that the story was evolving and they would follow up on the next show (sure.)  Never happened.

Well, yesterday's show only covered the Arbery hate crime verdicts for about 3 minutes before turning to Ukraine... Doesn't feel any different to me than how they momentarily covered that story (and I do remember it being mentioned on the show).

That makes up for what she said yesterday suggesting Biden talk to SCOTUS to convince them to be less partisan.  I'm surprised that didn't get some media attention.  She has said some stupid things in her time but this ranks up there as one of the worst.

She says dumb things all the time, which is probably why it didn't really stand out to me. All I could think was what pointless advice that was; I don't think him talking to anyone is going to change anything.

Oh man, I'm more than a prude than Sunny when it comes to strip clubs. I'll probably get some poo for this post, but oh well.

My opinion on seeing strippers, if you're single, "so what? Who cares?"

HOWEVER, if you're in a relationship, especially married, I find going to strip clubs disrespectful, and yes, I see a difference between men going to strip clubs and women seeing Chippendales.

How does Sunny who is jealous over everything all cool with women taking off their clothes and trying to get Manny going? Isn't she the same person who freaked out over something as innocent as a birthday cake?! It's always amazed me how the same women won't like their SOs to have female friends, receive texts of any kind from other women, or admit they find other women pretty see no big deal with some stranger's tits in their husband's or boyfriend's face.

Yeah, I found it very hard to believe that Sunny would be okay with her husband going to a stripclub. I know I wouldn't, so it's hard for me to believe that Sunny would be when she's much more prudish than I would ever be on most other subjects.

It started out fine with her saying she is worried about what will happen to Europe and then made it about her.   On the other hand I heard someone I know say they didn't care about the conflict because it had nothing to do with them. Whatever happened to having compassion for our fellow man regardless of how it or if it affects us?

Not only did she make it all about her, her comment came across as very privileged and out of touch. Seriously they have “problems” some people wish they had.

I like Joy.  She is by far my favorite cohost at the present table.   However at the end of the day she is a rich privileged woman.  Doesn't mean she doesn't care but normally her life runs pretty smoothly.  Pandemic restrictions notwithstanding.

It was a misstep. I’m sure she didn’t mean to sound unfeeling about what is going on in Ukraine, but it would have been better not to have said anything.

Funny.  Ana said something in this vein about them sounding privileged.

Fun first segment with Meredith. I could listen to her and Joy reminisce all day.

Michelle Tafoya again next week?

Had to laugh at Sunny’s reaction to Gabe studying dance at Harvard. He’s finally escaped his helicopter mom. You do you, Gabe!

She should have just said "I hope casualties will be minimal". That way she could make a comment that really meant nothing and made no real stand against a murderous dictator.

I get that Joy didn't sound great with that comment, but we've watched her so many years and know she cares what goes on in other countries. I'd go into examples, but board rules.

Ugh.  I thought she had a job lined up away from broadcasting.

Sure hope she's not still in the running.  Her recent comments since she left the NFL world have been really bad.  I truly don't want her on the panel.  Honestly if they pick someone who makes me scream at the TV every morning from the disinformation, etc. (like with MM), I'm done.

It's too bad Meredith can't be on for a full week like Lisa was. One day like this, it almost feels like she's barely there. :(

I'm glad Sunny touted Jackson's qualifications and Harvard education, as if there was any doubt the candidate would be qualified. She's exactly right that it's entirely about race, not lack of qualifications. Ana is pretty naive when it comes to Graham.

1948.  When third grade was almost over, my father decided to move us from Phoenix to my mother's old home, St. Louis (we didn't realize--yet--that he was dumping us). My Catholic elementary school in Phoenix had just been completed in 1946, so everything was NEW.  In St. Louis, my Catholic elementary school was OLD (really OLD).  Alhough we didn't share seats, our desks were made for two people.  There was hole in the front of the desk and I asked one of the kids what the hole for.  Ink Swell.  I asked what "ink swell" meant and he didn't know.  I later figured out it was a hole for an ink bottle.  Ink well.  We were using pencils.  by 4th grade, I was back in Phoenix, as was my father--but he never lived with us again.

Did no one answer this?  A very old "cultural reference."  Maybe Whoopi is selling these sweaters.

Koko the Clown was an early silent cartoon into the 1920s.  His best-known role was as back-up to Betty Boop in Snow White in the early 30s, more than four years before the Disney version. In it Koko, who has been turned into a ghost by the Wicked Queen, lip-synchs to Cab Calloway's "Saint James Infirmary", while morphing into various objects mentioned in the song.image.png.c0f35a963f4d0ab317b04cbd8019e2a6.png

I think Sunny is one of those people who wants to be thought of as KIND, respectful, WONDERFUL, but she's so self-centered (aka insecure...worried about herself) that she truly doesn't think of these things.  She doesn't MEAN to be rude; it just happens...often.  Fortunately, many parents continue to make sure their kids think of OTHERS rather than teaching them they are the prettiest, the smartest, the best...and to hell with anyone who disagrees.

This is a perfect example of when you should think before you speak. So your personal plans are negatively affected? Keep that little bit of selfishness to yourself and reflect later on why your first reaction was a form of "but what about me?"

Watching those old clips with Meredith reminded me why I used to enjoy the show.  It was lighter and more fun plus the discussions.  Never should have been put into the news division.  Big mistake.

He's not that great of a dancer, though he looked like he was enjoying it (and Paloma wasn't that great of a pianist when Sunny videoed her during the early days of Covid). I wonder if they are embarrassed about what their mother puts on TV.

I recall once how Sunny would be annoyed her parents would encourage her kids to do more daredevil stuff and wondering why.  Whoopi said 'they want to make sure they don't turn into you'..and she said 'you're probably right '.

Sunny is risk averse and probably is happy with the restrictions for the most part.  She also seems to get too heated and speaks before speaking.  Not surprised her son is away from his her and I wonder where her daughter will be going to college.

Meredith needs to be on one day a week and become moderator again.  She helped liven up the table and I think Joy would be happier if her bestie was back part time.

Navarro has good 1 liners, but seems dismissive.

Joy means well, but what she said about not going to Italy is something she should share with Steve and not on tv.

Sarah's hair is kinda retro.

Yes but she says some things the audience is saying at home.  Like get your bare feet off the table. I don't always agree with what she says politically but she can have  a differing opinion from the other women and still keep it friendly.
