I appreciated your story, BB. I'm in your age range more or less and have stuff happen, too. And have no spouse or family. It's scary at times. Hips, knees, shoulders for starters. 
I'd love to be a fly on the wall when Summeat is in his 50s/60s and starts getting injuries/issues.  And his trophy wife (just guessing) tells him he's a sick old man.

Jenny has learned from their trip hopefully to say no unnecessary physical risks. That's where I am. Maintain, repair, patch, to the extent possible. Summeat should be the one climbing up on chairs (or preferably a good ladder -- I finally treated myself to a good stepladder -- to do work on the home.
