Interview with Adam Reed on this season. No spoilers, but he mentioned the only thing that could kill Archer is working as a waiter referring to the opening scene of him in the pool. I had already forgotten about that scene. Of course, that doesn't mean it's actually Archer or that he is actually dead, we do have Kreiger's creepy hobbies.

I do think that this is good news (and having some Peppermint Paddies are in order) and this also probably means that the writers can now map out what they want to do with the show.

Classic FX.  Most everyone had the show on the bubble, and they're just like "Nah... we'll give it three more seasons!"

I do wonder if these will actually be truly the last ones, and will give Adam Reed and company time to give it a proper send-off.

FX is cool that way.   "Bubble Show" means different things to different networks.  FX will keep low watched critically acclaimed shows on   the air.  At least if the critical acclaim is enough ti warrant it.  Archer has gotten enough good reviews and nods.

Ahh, Lana's sane. The only time she loses her mind is when it comes to Archer.

Adam Reed confirms that the show will end after its 10th season.  Pretty good run and I'm glad we will at least still new more episodes till 2019.

Thanks, @Lantern7!  I was skeptical about Archer Vice and it ended up having some of my fave episodes…this will be much more weird, but in a good way I think/hope.

Archer moves to FXX in Spring. I guess the move worked for It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia (live-action garbage people), though I've heard FXX isn't available everywhere.

At the San Diego Comic Con today, Fox did a nearly three-minute long animated crossover between Archer and Kingsmen, featuring both H. Jon Benjamin and Taron Egerton.  It's very funny...

Heh. Did not see the first movie. Kingsmen is based on a Mark Millar comic, right? Man, he could really wreak havoc on Archer. Oh, and nice to see Archer back in the present . . . or whatever passes for that.

I don't think that was actually Sterling Archer because he had absolutely nothing to say about Eggsy being a Hobbit sized spy. Otherwise very funny.

Archer is going even further back in time next season. After a year in “Dreamland” — specifically the year 1947 — “Archer: Danger Island,” Season 9, will take place in the spring of 1939 on a remote beach locale in the South Pacific.

Announced by executive producer Matt Thompson during the Comic-Conpanel in San Diego, it was also unveiled that Archer will be a seaplane pilot with one eyepatch and two partners: One is Pam Poovy, his co-pilot who he’s gotten into “many scrapes” with across the globe. The other is a “talking, fucking” parrot named Crackers, who will be voiced by Lucky Yates (who usually plays Dr. Krieger).

Lana is a princess on the island, while Mallory is a bar owner and (unlike last season) Archer’s mother. Mallory’s character in “Dreamland” was not related to Archer, and voice actress Jessica Walter said she was glad the familial connection has been restored.

“I am in Season 9, and I am his mother again,” Walter said. “There’s something about what she does to him as a mother that’s so vile because she’s his mother, as opposed to when he’s a stranger.”

Other new roles for the characters include Charlotte, who’s still an heiress to a massive fortune, but in 1939 she’s visiting the island on her honeymoon. Cyril will now be Cypert Fuchs, a British intelligence officer posing as a local on the island.

“Last season, we loved it, but things got pretty dark, pretty fast,” Thompson said. “Adam Reed has been talking about doing something fun and just having a blast [this season]. There will be quicksand, cannibals, and super intelligent monkeys.”

While some things will remain the same — Archer is still a “semi-functioning alcoholic,” for instance — “Danger Island” marks the fourth major change in setting and second major story overhaul for the series in five years. While “Archer: Vice” and Season 7 maintained the ongoing story of the series, “Dreamland” and now “Danger Island” will take place in an alternate reality.

Thompson did not say whether this means the real Archer is still trapped in a coma. At the end of Season 7, Archer was shot and the premiere of Season 8 found him comatose. The season was set inside his dream, and it ended without any clarification as to Archer’s life-or-death status.

“Archer” has had a major presence at Comic-Con in 2017. The animated program has made hosting a panel an annual tradition, but the character was also featured during the “Kingsman” presentation on Thursday in a video of Sterling mocking Eggsy (voiced by Taron Egerton) and his British customs.

“Archer: Danger Island” is expected to premiere in 2018.

I liked "Dreamland," but I was hoping for the show to lurch into the present, or what passes for it. Maybe the final season is a flash-forward with the final stand of the gang, and the birth of superspy AJ.

Archer: Danger Isand reminds me of an old 80s show that tried to capitalize on Indiana Jones fever. I believe it was called Tales of the Gold Monkey

I am so excited to have some Archer news but the “talking, fucking” parrot named Crackers, who will be voiced by Lucky Yates (who usually plays Dr. Krieger)." kind of reminds me of Pigeon from the Mike Tyson Mysteries (voiced by Norm McDonald.)

Is it wrong of me to hope that Charlotte's new husband will be Cecil? Eugene Mirman for the win!
