I'm a bit more cynical... and believe it's 5 couples that production puts together hoping for some drama and if good marriages come from it so be it... who else has this fight? 6 Link to comment
Ilovepie February 14, 2021 Share February 14, 2021 46 minutes ago, JLaw said: I think a lot of this production manipulation. I think the producers want us to believe Ryan wants to raise his kids in an "austere" Christian environment and Clara wants to raise them as heathens. If they are compatible adults I think they can figure this out. I don't get the sense Ryan is some religious nutjob who is super dogmatic He could still have some deal breakers without being a dogmatic austere conservative Christian. I see a lot of myself in the situation between Ryan and Clara. My first real love post college came from a Christian home but he wasn’t really practicing. Very nice though- much like Clara. But when we got more serious and started having conversations like this I realized I couldn’t be with someone long term who wouldn’t really share that part of my life and who, much like Clara, wanted to “let kids chose for themselves.” That was the beginning of the end for us, and why I wonder what’s going to happen here. I see Ryan as a practicing Christian who isn’t super conservative, but I do think there is a reckoning coming where he is going to have to decide if he can compromise on this stuff or if it’s too important to him. Maybe it is production, but it’s hard to ignore his facial expressions when Clara says things he disagrees with coupled with his actual talking heads where he states straight up it’s important to him. I guess we’ll see how this plays out! 6 Link to comment

And this is AFTER he has told a room full of production folks who have to interact with her. How is he going to handle other tough conversations? What if his business struggles? What if he gets sick? They had known each other for three days at this point. Over the course of three days, Paige has faced “I’m not attracted to you but I had sex with you twice, and my lack of attraction to you gave me a panic attack,” “I have something to tell you but I won’t tell you,” “my ex is pregnant,” and “waaah, everybody is supporting her and not me.” This is not a good dude. Or the show will give him a financial incentive to stay on D-day and we will find out that he is long gone during the reunion. Edited February 15, 2021 by qtpye 4 Link to comment

Mrs. Button February 15, 2021 Share February 15, 2021 Quote I think both her language and the breathy voice thing come from her faith. When I've watched the Duggars, polygamists, and other religious fundamentalists, they tend to use phrases like that. And women are encouraged to "keep sweet," vocally. Thank you Linarina (beautifully lyrical name BTW)! An exaggerated femininity makes a lot of sense in the fundamentalistic framework — though, in the case of Paige, some rather contradictory things come out of her mouth — butt comments, anyone? If she had waited even two days she would have had her original misgivings confirmed because he was showing his ass THE VERY NEXT MORNING!!!! Crashcourse February 16, 2021 Share February 16, 2021 Paige presents herself a God-fearing, religious woman, but I think she's a very sexual being, used to using her body to get men, and not realizing that's all they want. I suspect there were a lot of guys who immediately got up from bed after banging her and she still didn't have a clue. I think she tried that with Chris, knowing he was an ass. It didn't work. Plus, she's on Unfiltered dressed like she's going to the club. So she can talk softly about God and religion all she wants but I have no sympathy for her. 1 10 Link to comment

Any sympathy I had for her started to dwindle after the sex, and went even farther after her choice to support him after the bombshell. While it is not her fault she was matched with arguably the biggest asshole in the history of this show, her choices after that are on her. Nobody forced her to have sex with him, and she is choosing (at this point anyway) to stay with a guy she owes absolutely nothing to despite being "legally married". They just met, there is no investment in this relationship. Now I am just thinking what the hell is wrong with her? Both of these two are walking contradictions. They both spout loudly about their faith, but the actions don't really match. Between the overly revealing clothes and hyper emphasis on sex that they both seem to focus on, I just don't get it at all. As someone on this forum once said, all talk, no walk. I do think Paige is probably a nice girl who would have had at least a chance to be successful if matched with a decent person, but it's not going to happen here no matter how much she wants it. Her staying at this point just makes her look like a fool. 1 10 Link to comment

He's the King of Disrespect & needs to get out of his stupid feelings. He's got more important things to worry about. To choose to take it as disrespect is stupid. He's entitled to feel, but that's a stupid choice to feel that way about her question. She could've asked something worse. He already can't manage his emotions, he should worry about that. Chris has the narcissistic manipulativeness and shiftiness of a Lifetime movie boyfriend/sociopath. I hate how she swooned over his giving her a rose from the table arrangement- might as well have given her Sweet n' Low sugar packets or the moist towelette packets from KFC. Devvie February 20, 2021 Share February 20, 2021 Love this forum! Jake. I'm old and know many Jakes. They are the guys who were "in style" during important times of their lives: high school, college, the frat, etc. And they got stuck there. There are guys who still sport their long 70s hair - but now it's thin and gray. Haley needs to take Jake by the hand and show him he can be attractive while living in 2021! Also, a completely no carb diet can give you seriously bad breath. Some describe it as a nail polish remover smell. Maybe that's part of the problem. Virginia. This is sexist but I heard it one time and it made an impression on me. "There is nothing more unattractive than a drunk woman." I hope Virginia's drinking slows down. I think she's spunky and I think Eric is very attracted to her. But, if she doesn't stop, she'll be unable to stop. And that would be sad. Chris. I just spent way too long reading everything everyone else has written - brilliant comments and observations! I am an alum of the University of Washington and took classes from Dr. Pepper Schwartz. She is a brilliant woman and very well regarded (or was). Why would she endorse a clearly abusive and unstable man being cast on this show? Why would any of these "experts"? As a few others have said, this might be the last season for me if he isn't sent packing. There have been others who were unstable: Brett, Katie, Christina, Taylor, but they were mild compared to this over-the-top bag of nuts. He cries (or pretends to), then sulks, then screams, then smirks, etc. He's creepy. And no one but Paige is buying the "man of god" story. 3 4 Link to comment

If after being helped, Paige decided to stay, the audience could stomach some of his stupid antics. Nancybeth February 22, 2021 Share February 22, 2021 So technically the dolphins were at the Mirage, and they are staying at Mandalay Bay -- there was a chyron that identified the location. That being said, they are both MGM Resorts, as are at least 10 other famous Vegas casinos, so if you're going to boycott one over dolphins, you should boycott them all. I expect we'll see a few more of these properties in the next ep. I think Erik is going to get really tired of Virginia's party girl attitude when they get back to their real life. I looked it up and the FAA requires pilots to stop drinking at least 8 hours before a flight, but some airlines require 12 hours. That means if he's flying at 8 a.m. the next morning, he's not going to want to go out the night before. Right now Erik is on a high of getting married to a fun younger woman and being in Vegas and he's already expressing a little doubt. It will be worse when they go home. Jake reminds me sooo much of someone I dated for a few months (although, I have to say, he's more attractive than my ex). His personality has become "being a geek" about certain things and he wants to share all those things with Hailey and wants to make her appreciate the same thing, but doesn't seem as interested in anything she's expressing interest in. It's exhausting to date those people, and I ended up constantly feeling like I wasn't cool enough for him. Your personality can't just be, "I like 80s movies and music and ironic graphic tee-shirts." He's got to give her more and he's got to be curious about her too. 2 Link to comment

Yeah I can't read her at all. He tried having a serious conversation about their relationship, and she literally said nothing. It seems as if every conversation they have he has to initiate, even going back to immediately after their wedding! I am not at all certain it just looks like he is always talking about himself because this is what it's been edited to be because she doesn't say anything. She looks at him sometimes as if he has two heads, or her face is just a blank. The only thing she seems excited about is being able to do what she wants when she wants. I cannot fathom why she wanted to get married. It's a disastrous pairing. 7 Link to comment
