One of the things I love about GBBO is that they don't make a big deal out of stuff like that. I remember one season one of the women had something with her hand (I forget what because they thankfully avoid doing the sob story edit I see in pretty much every American reality completion, no matter if it's baking, cooking, building something, or doing some survival challenges) and I don't even remember them mentioning it, it just was, and she carried on like all the others, just like Marc does. I agree. I call it "inspiration porn". It's insulting, in my view. A person with a disability does not exist to "inspire". They're living their lives, just like anyone. Mak's letter was pure class. I'm still mad about him being eliminated over Rowan. That was wrong. Why have a technical challenge if it's meaningless? 9 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/111732-s11e02-biscuit-week/page/3/#findComment-6388929

meep.meep October 9, 2020 Share October 9, 2020 I think Sura is great and Dave is not scary. On a rewatch last night we noticed something funny. We always have closed captioning on watching Netflix. When Lottie finally gets the cardboard out of the center of her Viking Vessel, she says "oh fuck" and the captioning included it. They do curse and it isn't bleeped, but I never noticed it in the captioning! 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/111732-s11e02-biscuit-week/page/3/#findComment-6392388

Crs97 October 16, 2020 Share October 16, 2020 I like Matt. He seems like he has a quick wit. I like how he makes Paul laugh. My favorite moment was Noel telling Sura to hang back. She has a great laugh! The showstopper wasn’t interesting to me, and I am tired of them cutting back the time. I must admit that I loved the exchanges between Paul and Rowan. “Did you practice your bakes?” “Yes.” “Did you do it to time?” “No” with a smile. 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/111732-s11e02-biscuit-week/page/3/#findComment-6402839

Peter reminds me of a young Prince William. And while I was bummed to see Mak go over Rowan, I am also curious to see what Rowan can accomplish if he follows directions - although he doesn't seem too concerned when he's being criticized for not listening. At some point if he keeps trying to do too much he's going to have to be cut. His magnificent ideas are only going to work if he can produce them in time! Most American chocolate, and Hershey's in particular, contains butyric acid to give chocolate a longer shelf life and so it can be safely transported over long distances. And that's OK because Sura seems pretty great and I like her and she's a competitor. This is not a great take. And the compliments don't improve it. It's really very diminishing to assume or imply that someone's presence is stunt-casting, and you're contributing to an environment in which people have to deal with that all the time. Sura is obviously competent to be there. Why not assume she was simply included on that basis, as presumably the rest of them were. 8 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/111732-s11e02-biscuit-week/page/3/#findComment-6456418
Oldernowiser March 21, 2021 Share March 21, 2021 I swear Noel’s smoking pot between takes or something. He laughs too long and too loud at everything, even when it’s not particularly funny. Which, this season, is most of the time. Matt is still trying too hard. Not feeling it. Rowan clearly couldn’t care less, which is fine, but why bother then? I found Maks difficult to look at and I’m not even sure why, but it’s bullshit he was sent home over Rowan. There’s something off about Dave, I agree. His eyes stay cold even when he’s smiling or laughing. Dunno. Maybe it’s Covid and the isolation, but this season feels forced to me. I need less slapstick and more pretty scenery shots....lambs baaa-ing, ducks waddling, water droplets glistening on wildflowers...always works for me!
