I believe Tammy ended up in the hospital, and then went to assisted living rehab.   She also had a trach, but I don't know if that's permanent or not.     Some assisted listings have a certain number of beds for patients who need physical therapy, or skilled nursing care after surgery.

However, assisted living doesn't have to keep patients who abuse staff, so Tammy better not treat people at the living center the way she does at home.

Can you even IMAGINE.. Tammy in assisted living.  I think all nurses would quit.  smh

From People Magazine--video & article about the upcoming episode:

https://people.com/health/1000-lb-sisters-tammy-slaton-spends-time-drinking-vaping-with-friends-im-gonna-be-me/

ETA:  Those three "friends" don't give a damn about her or they wouldn't be plying her with booze and pizza when she's in a precarious health situation.  They probably just want to be on TV and increase their social media followers.

One of them (Rob) is, I think, the one who was going to go get Tammy a day early from the family vacation.

Quote

"We don't eat healthy, because for me, if I eat something like pizza, or pizza rolls, the bread soaks up the alcohol, and then the grease helps so we don't get too hung over," she says. 🙄

From the above People article, ' "We've just been drinking, vaping," she says, as she gets into a friend's car to head to the liquor store.  '
This sounds normal, and then you translate it to what "as she get into a friend's car" means in Tammy's world.
I doubt she could get into a car and talk at the same time,.

For your viewing pleasure.

None of these guys are pushing a wheelchair.  Hmmmm.

I stopped watching when they got to the liquor store, you can clearly see Tam (or Tam Tam as her good friends apparently call her) hand over something to the guy going in the store. Like I said, she's paying for everything, Tammy has bought herself some friends.

OMG she really doesn't care anymore, does she? Won't be long now-she will keel over dead and TLC will have to find some other losers to make a show about.

Not long after the season ended, she landed in the hospital again and almost died. Now she has a trach in her throat since before Christmas.  Frankly, if it was me, I would do anything to avoid a hospital. This summer my cat bit me and my hand got infected and I ended up in the hospital a week on antibiotics and having hand surgery. I felt trapped and I could not wait to get out of there. And I did not even bring that on myself. So, you would think that just the fear of being hooked up to machines and being hospitalized would be motivation to stop doing what she is doing and get some therapy to help her accomplish that.

I noticed that right away.   It doesn't surprise me,  Tammy has no pride.

Exactly. And right now, Tammy is very happy vibing on her "celebrity" status. She's never experienced this much attention in her entire life. She's enjoying her life for the first time in her life.

Getting serious about losing weight takes too much effort for Tammy. She doesn't want to spend time getting healthy. She just wants to enjoy this moment in time.

Sadly, it makes sense. But I still don't like her.

Season 3 finales in episode 11 End of an Era which is scheduled for next Monday, 2022.01.24.  It is an 11 episode season.

So do we have 2 more episodes? One tonight and one next Monday? Or is there not a new episode tonight and we won't see it til next Monday?

There is a new episode tonight 1/17, and the season finale next week 1/24.

The previews for next week are appalling.    Why did Amy fly to Atlanta to talk to Dr. Procter?    She already was trying to get pregnant, knew she was, and I don't care what she says her weight is, she gaining weight back again.

I'm guessing she just went to Atlanta to get more filming about the trip, and  to fill out the episode.   I think it's just an attempt to get another season on TLC, and more money and followers.

Amy may not be as bad off as Tammy, but she's not doing anything to help herself either.       With all of her health issues, and complications from her first pregnancy, Amy will be lucky to have another healthy baby, and get through a pregnancy safely.   I'm wondering if she's having trouble finding an obstetrical practice that will take her as a patient?   The doctors don't have to treat her, and with her attitude, they should think very carefully before taking her on.

I'm hoping that the locations where they have public screaming and swearing are closed.

I can't imagine most people wanting to be within screaming and swearing distance of this crew.    Can you imagine being on vacation, and the place you went to eat had something like the family meltdown going on.

That would be the highlight of my vacation! I would LOVE to see a family like the Slatons screaming obscenities at each other in public. If I was at a restaurant, I'd consider that dinner and a show.

While channel surfing last night I caught a glimpse of Tammy in the van from 1/17 episode on no other than Laura Ingraham's show.  Seems she was saying the media is now glorifying being fat.  Way off the mark in my book and I don't get that vibe as someone is always saying that she or someone else should lose weight.

Sure but on the other hand being in the hospital means a staff of people waiting on her so there's that.

I definitely think TLC glorifies being overweight. My Big Fat Fabulous Life, the new show coming up called 1,000 Pound Best Friends and of course our friends the Slatons. What she said is true.

I don't think they glorify it, they see it as freak shows that sell, though Dr. Now does help people.

  • Love 13

I don't know my definition of glorify is to show in a way that you would want to be.  All the fat shows make me want to be the opposite.  TLC has the mentality of if one show is getting the ratings about _____ then 100 more shows with the very same theme the better!  Fat people.  Little people (sorry don't know the proper term).  Desperate people dating others overseas.

That's true, and I agree with your definition.

However I believe the point Laura Ingraham was trying to make is TLC encourages poor behavior by offering people money and contracts to have that behavior filmed for tv shows, thereby glorifying the poor behavior. The worse the behavior, the higher the ratings, which means more money for everyone involved. All for acting out on television.

Even if Amy and Tammy only got $3,000 per episode the first season, that's still $18,000 apiece that they weren't earning before. The second season the number of episodes nearly doubled. Not to mention the increase in traffic to their social media channels as a result of their exposure on the show. To date, they have not changed their eating habit.

1,000 Pound Sisters spawned 1,000 Pound Best Friends. 90-day Fiancé spawned nearly a dozen spinoffs. Amy and Matt Roloff are probably still fighting.

Overall the lifestyles of the people on these shows don't change for the better because to maintain status quo keeps the money coming. Whether that means staying morbidly obese, fighting with your ex-spouse for 5 years after the divorce or trying to find love with non-citizens who are only in it for the green card. As long as TLC keeps giving these people a platform and a paycheck, thereby rewarding and glorifying bad behavior, there is no reason to change.

And I raise my hand and say I am complicit in this glorification of bad behavior, because it is entertaining, and I watch it all.

I see no point in maintaining the fiction that Tammy is ever going to do anything to save her own life.   At this point, just let her do whatever she wants, but stop helping her with that.

My guess is that we're not that far from "A Very Special Episode" about Tammy or Amy, or both.   Amy may weigh less than Tammy, but she's not much healthier than Tammy.

I agree. And I refuse to ever feel guilty for watching this TLC exploitation of Tammy when she dies. Tammy is fully aware of what is happening to her and by her.

Years ago, long before TLC showed made them scrub their entire YT channel, Amy claimed Tammy died and she grifted money from people to pay for a casket. Money she never returned.

These two pieces of shit have been on my radar for years. I used to watch their YT videos from time to time for the train wreck factor and am still in awe that TLC has chosen to repurpose Amy into a kind, motherly woman. She's still trash, y'all. Don't let TLC fool you.

Am glad however that when Tammy meets her demise, Amy will have enough $$$ to buy that shipping-container-sized casket into which she can dump her.

Does anyone else think this family was really slated to be on "Family By The Ton"?  At least 4 members have had or wanted Weight Loss surgery.

I can't recall where I read it but yes, TLC was originally going to put these 2 sisters on some new TLC show about weight loss but decided they (Amy & Tammy) should have their own show.

Smith then asks her just how much she's drinking, and is visibly shocked by the answer.

"Maybe eight bottles a week," she says, smiling.

"Like fifths of liquor? Oh wow, Tammy. That's a lot."

I think this should be the last filmed season.   Let Tammy do whatever she wants, and stop publicizing her self-destructive lifestyle.

I know even without the TLC money, and trips financed by the producers and sponsors, there might be less financial means for Tammy and Amy to squander money.    In Amy's case, I hope they paid that house off, but my guess is they put down the minimum, and haven't saved anything for emergencies, or to finance their future needs.

They paid $37K for the house, so I hope they don’t have any problems paying it off.

Well... I had a relative who bought outright a $30k condo with a small inheritance. He had a decently paying job, too. He ended up taking two mortgages on the unit and was in default on one of them when he died. Let’s just say he wasn’t good with money or math.

So, it can be done!

I did not think it possible to find a house for $37K anywhere!  Hopefully, they saved their TLC income over 3 years and paid cash.

Here's a longer version of the People Magazine video I posted above.  In this one, Dr. Smith makes Tammy tear up at the end when he tells her she can reach out to him when she's feeling down.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhfZyg3dj6U

I actually felt some sympathy for her.  Amy moving out was her last straw.

Someone on Reddit did a summary of Tammy's latest Tic Toc video.  Here's a few of the many items posted that were discussed:

Quote

The show is currently on standby; this Monday is the last ep; they do not know if they're getting renewed yet; at first she said she wants another season then she said she doesn't know if she does

Amy is having a boy; due date is july 8

She was coughing a lot and her voice sounds very hoarse

Still has the trach in

Little Bit is short for little bitch

The last one--we should have figured that out.
