Culture Check: How can we discuss a character's or actor's appearance without objectifying them? How can we express likes or dislikes and still respect an individual's humanity or be mindful that a character represents a person someone else might relate to or identify with?

Do we know that Sasha is actually in jail? We know that she was arrested and saw her on her way to an arraignment but that was the last I remember hearing about her. She really should be in a psych ward rather than a jail.

I assume that Willow is talking to her doctors alone because Michael Must Be Protected.

It's too bad that Carly and Michael have no place to give Willow a graduation party other than the Metro Court pool. I guess the Corinthos house and Quartermaine mansion, gatehouse and stable were all booked. If it were me who lost my hotel, I would want to avoid it but I'm not Carly. Also typical of them not to give a party for Willow's whole class.

For all Drew's speech to Valentin about what a good father he is, why is he never with Scout? I think the last time was decorating the Christmas tree.

Because it's Michael's baby. Must Be Protected at all costs.

That's because he had to reconnect with her. They didn't even bother trotting her out for that end of the school year celebration in the park.

Real Drew was all about his kids. Drewfus, not so much.

I’d rather not see most of these terrible young actors, but I’ve never understood why the child can’t be at school, upstairs playing, sleeping, etc., we would at least know they sometimes spend the night under the same roof. They could also have throw away lines and and boast over pictures on their phone.  It’s the same thing as when they would make up ever ridiculous excuses to explain away Anthony Geary’s vacations.  He’s simply off screen, still in town, doing his thing.

I don’t typically have a lot of patience with martyred mothers, but particularly NOW, I don’t need the story of a woman willing to lay down her life for a fetus the size of a raisin. Particularly as the pregnancy hormones will feed the cancer like an out of control freight train. And not only is the raisin more important than Willow herself, it’s also more important than Wiley’s need for a mother.  Such bad timing for this SL, in my opinion.

honestly. i can see it both ways. I mean i'm not a mom or anything, but I am my mom's primary caregiver, and I do tend to put my stuff behind my mom's needs - i'm not doing it to be a martyr or anything, it's just that that's what tends to happen.

I mean there is a reason why people have to drill it into you "in case of emergency take care of yourself first," i do think it's just... a thing people do.

now I haaatteeeee Willow, and I even stated my issues with this - but looking it from her PoV - I get why she kind of wants to not face the cancer (and any decisions after that) as long as she can avoid it. She had a crappy first pregnancy with a cult leader, she gave said baby away, then she realized that baby died (I am guessing she was going to be part of the kid's life because she was friends with Brad and Lucas)? Then everything with the golden spawn was legal drama after legal drama and basically, she was done. she went through the valley and this was the mountain, clear skies, she can be happy, and she's happy with a baby and no more drama, and now, she couldn't even be happy for three seconds, before more drama is dumped in her lap that directly involves her and a baby. that is devastating.  (like fundamentally, I DO feel bad for Willow about this because that is a whole lot of suck to deal with in regards to having kids).

I doubt very much really that this is gonna be a "i withhold treatment so my baby can live. thing. (if it were imo, she either be much more pregnant, or much sicker). It's all leading towards Nina's bone marrow here, so they aren't even going to do a good medical storyline about conventional treatment vs. holistic approaches) . though i honestly don't see how the are going to escape the fact that she will still need chemo/radiation blasts to kill cancer cells before the marrow can be transplanted.

I would say honestly, Willow does have the right to mourn that dream a bit before dealing with the issues of cancer. (what she shouldn't be doing is hiding it from her dipstick of a partner).

This Willow story is SOOOO offensive, I feel like screaming.  I have to begin just ff'ing through these scenes.  To have this MORON mooing around about her 2 week old pregnancy while having leukimia...in our current situation, this is so beyond offensive, I feel like the writers are spitting in my face.  They need to abort this pregnancy, she is in her 20's with her whole life ahead of her  HER LIFE MATTERS more.  And stop shoving their agenda down my throat.  Never has any storyline made me so angry.  Enraged.

Willow and Michael no longer exist as far as I'm concerned.  Will never view another scene.  So on to the actual show - I was so pleasantly surprised that the charges against Trina were dropped.  I was afraid they were going to put her in Pentonville to further a Sprina storyline.  I still want Sprina but not by route of Pentonville for Trina.  So that was great.

Laura Wright looked fantastic in that shorter dress.  They should dress her like they did today more often.  Much more modern than those caftans or whatever they have her in a lot.  I don't like Carly but LW is a beautiful woman and she should be dressed to show it.

Thank you.  I posted before I read yours because I had to vent, I just finished watching yesterday and today's episodes and I am furious.  What a slap in the face!  Agenda writing at its finest.  If they abort this pregnancy I will change my mind, but they will not, they are cowards and their agenda is my life is worthless and I should be HAPPY to die for a 2 week old fetus.  Not interested in any mooing about oh there's two sides.  Write home about it!  I'm not interested it.  Sell your AGENDA somewhere else.

well, to be fair.
She never said she wasn't going to have treatment.
She never said she wasn't going to do anything about the baby
She never even said her life didn't matter more than the baby
all she said was she needed to take it in, and they'll talk treatment plans tomorrow, she promised.

i do think that's a normal reaction (what about the baby) though she also keeps quipping that she's a nurse now so she knows things, but sometimes you need to be told what you know. if she does start going no treatment, blegh bleh, then I think for sure - get mad, but I think she is allowed to be upset, dazed etc about getting a diagnosis.

I too am glad that Trina is no longer under threat of jail and that, as some of you call him, Robert Effin Scorpio came to the rescue by getting Oz on the stand and then deciding to drop the charges.

And there's also the Sasha storyline, which is a copy/paste of what's going on with Elizabeth in terms of her relationship with Brando.

I have to say this actress has a tendency to over act  but her just absolutely raging on that car was awesome/tragic to watch.  She really went for it.  As far as Liz and Finn, I’m a fan of both but I agree it’s just been too rushed.  I liked Liz with Franco and Finn with Anna.

Of course, because everything is about him.  I wouldn’t tell him anything either, nor expect any kind of support.  But umm, what about that other kid she has?  What about staying healthy and alive for the child she already has?

as of now though we don't now what she is thinking. she did say "Tomorrow we'll come up with plans."  and as I've said - I think Willow does deserve to take a moment or two to process and be upset what this means for her pregnancy which would have been a happy one vs. the first one she had. and I do think it's realistic to ask questions etc about what they can do to keep the baby while treatment.  I honestly didn't see anything today that indicated that she wasn't going to do treatment, just more of, she just got handed a diagnosis and is trying to process it . I think honestly. the storyline is going to be more of Willow trying to do this by herself until she realizes that she can't. and I'm curious what the "can't" is going to be. (breaking down to Michael, confiding in Carly - and carly freaking out about Nina. NINA finding out, and trying to help her - which will make her go reereeereee).

I truly believe if this was going to be a Mom vs. Baby storyline, as i've stated - Willow would be much more pregnant, and much more sicker. There is no way it would be at all believable to have Willow pregnant for 9 months, fighting cancer - ie: she just needs to hold out for like 3 more months or something - which is a whole lot more plausible than 9.  Now I could be dead all wrong about this but we'll see.

They are on tomorrow, and prolly going to be on Friday so we can see what happens then i figure that's when we can be all that's a dumb Willow decision, vs. not.

that is a lot of defending Willow today. I think that sucked up my show defense credits for the week LOL

Revenge porn is serious but the evidence against Trina is so flimsy, it shouldn't even have been brought to trial yet.  Then again, there is the racial element so that's realistic.

Only Port Charles DAs would even go to trial with the investigation still so unfinished.  The very fact that Esme Prince was mentioned so many times as a possible guilty party means they have not completed the investigation.  There's another suspect out there, so instead of figuring out which has more evidence against them, they go full bore against one of them.  It would clearly be possible for Esme to have dropped the phone in Trina's bag.

Nik and Victor were boring.  Doesn't water wash off DNA evidence? And even if there were Ava DNA on Esme, no one can prove that Ava shoved her over the parapet.

The writers really hate their audience.

It is amazing that their Mary Sue of a Carly is in the situation of knowing.  Will she be a hero for revealing the information she has - probably so, when normally withholding information is "lying" and many other characters would be raked over the coals.

How recent was his graduation? Maybe he's failed the bar exam a few times—New York State's is notoriously hard. And maybe his background checks didn't pan out so he couldn't get certified or whatever it is. I'm sure the show has already forgotten about the lawyer backstory.

I still don't understand why Nik hasn't told Viktor that Ava knows he (Nik) slept with Esmé. That takes away Viktor's ability to blackmail Nik with it (and you know he would if it advances his agenda).

Because he's (Nik) STOOPID? I swear, I don't ever recall Tyler's Nikolas being such an idiot. Yes, in later years, after he got with Emily, he thought with his DICK first, second, and last, but he wasn't a moronic numbskull nimrodic maroon, like this current Nik is.

And can someone tell me if it's worth watching Robert drop the charges--the same charges that Frank and his hack writers, "brilliantly" had him charge Trina with at the outset?

Hence why Willow is keeping it a secret from Michael. Keeping it from Michael means Carly doesn’t know yet since he runs and tells her everything. God forbid Carly be allowed to know and let Willow get sicker and sicker so Nina doesn’t find out she has a daughter even though it would be perfectly in character for her to sit on this info.

I think because knowing her husband slept with Esme it gives Ava a motive to kill Esme, and Nik doesn't want that in case Esme's body shows up. And clearly Nik doesn't trust Victor to protect Ava in that situation either.

Didn't Viktor find out yesterday Ava was there when Esmé went over the parapet (or guessed it; I can't remember)?

Ava has vocally disliked Esmé from the beginning, so she'd be a suspect in Esmé's death regardless. Anything Viktor says would be hearsay, not that legalities bother the GH writers when they want to tell a story the way they want to tell it. (See: Trina.)

and it didn't even occur to them that ELQ is better than it was before the merger beacuse before Ned just worked there, but now he's COB so he has more say in how said family business is run + Val is making them money? like just let it go now.

I'm rewatching yesterday's ep for the last 15 minutes that were preempted yesterday, and wow, Olivia was such a crab. Making it difficult for Nina isn't going to help the hotel. Push her far enough and she might sell her half to someone Olivia finds even worse, so maybe make a bare effort to be civil to Nina, huh, Liv?

I didn't find Willow's behavior unreasonable. Yet. She's allowed some time to process, and treatment is never started the very next second after a diagnosis. People need time to process the news as well as make arrangements. You can't wait too long, but a day or even a week shouldn't make much difference. They don't even have a treatment plan for Willow yet.

Right, I paid more attention this time around, LOL.

Doesn't Trina still have to deal with the Title IX hearing at PCU? Or has that been dropped?

Nina, it's the middle of August. The September issue of Crimson should be on the newsstands already, or at least this week. And if you have any sort of PR, it will have already sent the cover and story to various media outlets.

Nina asks if there is anything she can help Carly with. Carly says that she's good. Nina (rightly) points out that the kitchen is for management and employees only. Cue RBF: "Is this how we're going to play it now?" Well, yes, you cow.  you aren't supposed to  go back there.

Carly and Nina fling barbs. Carly states "my hotel." and Nina corrects her that it's not. Then Carly says "for now." and Nina points out that she's unemployed, thus has no income thus it will take decades to even attempt to get her half back. need sunscreen for that burn, Carly?  Also also, pls remember you dumb cow, that Nina was going to give you the hotel.

Nina asks if they can be civil. Carly basically goes you are going to have no relationship with Donna. (Please let Ava say this to Carly about Avery. Avery will get over it).  Carly going on about how Nina, Sonny need to be the hero of their own story, again how does lightning not strike this woman dead is beyond me. We get a flashback of Carly finding out three months ago that Willow + Nina are related and then she goes "You are getting everything that you deserve."  Ahuh.

Sonnny is mad that Baby Jason didn't tell him he beat up a superior officer and got discharged because of it. Well. i mean -that's not something that you volunteer LOL . Baby Jason admits he was abused as a kid and apparently the superior officer the same to his family, so he beat up the superior office because of it. Sonny is defrosting.

Spencer and Trina are talking and Portia is like "Let's go!! we're having a party, and we love to have Cam + Joss there." right in front of Spencer. that's kind of rude, Portia.  Spencer doesn't tell  Trina, Spencer and CopBoy walk away had in hand

Willow is all sobby. Michael is like what is wrong, tell me. She doesn't. now she's researching chemo while being pregnant and tells TJ that she has cancer. I had to google. Apparently you can have chemo after your 1st trimester. I didn't know that (Thanks, Google!!). They have to wait until the baby's organs are developed. you just can't do radiation. Willow isn't going to say anything until the followup.

awwww. Spencer deployed the ILY bomb about why he had to fix things.  Cam says that's why he needs to tell Trina. Copboy however is making a move and wants to date Trina and trina kisses him while Spencer sees that.  he tells Baby Shrew and Cam that he'll never tell Trina now.  Spencer is speaking much truth that he doesn't have the right to destroy Trina's happiness by telling her that he always believed in her. He only offered her lies and whatever. Joss is like well i am SO Team #Trory but i can't lie to her. Dude. it's not your story to tell. Shut up.  She flounces off. but Cam stays by his cousin and gives him a hug. #FreeCam

honestly, my dream is Drewfus and Carly do get together - then he finds out and dumps her forever.  Carly keeps talking about she's ready to move on yet she doesn't.

Victor saves the day with Esme. LMAO.  Victor: "Give it up, Ava, I know, everything." Ava: "YOU DO?! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?" (to Nik).  Victor "Yeah he's a crappy liar. that one." i laughed.

I don't know if Nina got everything she wanted but I didn't -- Carly is still alive.

Watch Carly bold-face lie to her best friend about her feelings for Drew.

Drewfus is such an idiot, he will probably say that Carly was right to lie about the results.

I wondered why TJ was there when everyone else was family, until I realized it's to have him know about Willow's condition. Heaven forfend that anyone from her nursing class or the hospital be there.

I know that the first trimester can last for 6 months on this show but if Willow's at 5 weeks now, that's only another 7 weeks before starting treatment.

As soon as Dex told Sonny that he was going to tell her the real story, I know that it was going to be a super sudsy sob story. Sonny is such a fool about him.

I'm tired of this Esme story. I wish Nik hadn't burned the letter along with her clothes.

Spencer realizing that he wanted to be the one to save Trina because he loves her shows more self-awareness than 95% or the characters on this show. Asking Josslyn if it will really make Trina happier also shows how much more mature than the others he is.

Carly, hoards all the babies in the world, doesn't want the bio mom to be around, gets called mama Carly. Nina mentions Donna. Claws are out. My family is expending. Get bent, you witch!

I actually liked Willow' scenes with TJ. They were good, understated, a friend supporting a friend, which she doesn't have because Michael and Wylie are her dumb world. The attendance at that party was pretty pathetic, which shows just how small Willow's world is.

Dear Carly, nobody has convinced themselves more than you that they are the hero of their own story. We have the receipts. These writers are so goddamn stupid. And their heroine is more delusional about herself and everyone around her every day that passes.

Olivia needs to be put to pasture. What a thankless role LLC has. This is worst than when she had visions of death and doom.

Dex has a sad childhood and beat up a man who abused his wife and kids. There's nothing in the world that will tug at Sonny's heart strings more than that, while he gets snowed by his new protégé.

Spencer being selfless for a change. Victor using his resources to send the PCPD on a wild goose chase and them burning the clothes was kind of soapy, but how about you don't burn the letters too.

Agreed. And if you're going to work as an enforcer for a mob kingpin, it should probably be a good thing rather than a deal breaker. I have no interest in Sonny's feigned outrage. If the writers were looking for a misdirect about Jason 2.0 getting caught about working for Baby Mike, this wasn't the best, unless he ends up beating the crap out of someone later.

Personally, I enjoyed more MB's terrible delivery of his line about Trina. Instead of questioning or sounding surprised, he just repeated what he'd heard, without any emotion. He really needs to sit on a back burner for a while.

We don’t usually see a lot of her, but apparently what we will for the foreseeable future will feature the writers having her snipe at Nina. At least Olivia’s bad LSD trip flashbacks were campy….

I love that Willow ruined Michael's surprise party for her.

Dex has a sad childhood and beat up a man who abused his wife and kids. There's nothing in the world that will tug at Sonny's heart strings more than that, while he gets snowed by his new protégé.

Serves Sonny right. Though I'd be happy if Michael's big plan fails. It's all so stupid, so TFGH.

Ugh, poor Taggert. He's going to be crushed when he learns Trina isn't his daughter. He so doesn't deserve that. When a good guy like him gets screwed over like this, it's not soapy.

Do we think Nina knows that Willow is sick? That would be pretty soapy, but she won't have the drop on Carly for long, since Carly can never lose.

God forbid Carly be allowed to know and let Willow get sicker and sicker so Nina doesn’t find out she has a daughter even though it would be perfectly in character for her to sit on this info.

Carly will probably turn around and blame Willow for all of this.  She’ll be like well if Willow had told me she was sick I would have told her Nina was her mother!  It’s her fault!

maybe not yet. but bet you a dollar Ava + She will talk about how WIllow was crying in Ava's arms a bit ago when she mentioned a the baby.

Honestly. if i can't have my Nina getting fat off bread and cheese while WIllow suffers with Cancer, I would actually like it if Nina supports Willow through this and it drives Michael + Carly nuts. even let nina say this isn't about the golden spawn, or anything just... she clearly obviously needs to tell people but she daren't say anything to her dipstick parter and shew mother in law

pretty much right there. Carly will find a way to dodge blame per usual

As soon as Dex told Sonny that he was going to tell her the real story, I know that it was going to be a super sudsy sob story. Sonny is such a fool about him.

Yep.  Like shooting fish in a barrel.

I like all the TJ/Willow scenes. I had no idea they were supposed to be friends but they work really well together.

It would be interesting if they did that and have Nina be one of a handful of people who knows and is supporting her through her treatment while keeping the truth from Carly and Michael. I'm all for Carly and Michael getting completely blindsided on this. Minds blown, brains and gore all over the place.

But I never get what I want.

Willow needs a decent friend. Sasha is too much of a Michael worshippers and Michael, Brook Lynn, Carly and Drew are all far too blind.  Actually Willow needs Ava to give her a backbone. And to get closer to cousin Britt in the hospital.

Truth. I'm also beginning to dislike Portia a lot, she's becoming too much like Carly. Like Carly, she is rude to people she doesn't like or doesn't think worthy (see Spencer today), she thinks that whatever she does for her family is okay, and she is holding the secret of someone's paternity for her own purposes.

I’m glad that Trina is off the hook so maybe she can go to school and we won’t have to see her much. I can’t seem to get invested in this actress. I really miss the last one who was much the better actress. Time for Trina and Joss to head off the Europe or wherever.

Yeah, I really hate the "Curtis is really her father" storyline. I liked that Trina was associated with a legacy character, and especially Taggart. I guess my only hope is that Portia is wrong lol.

On the one hand I hate it because of Taggert. On the other hand, I want to see Curtis's world blow up in his face when he finds out the truth since he was so uppity about Jordan keeping secrets from him and divorced her because he couldn't take the lies. Fuck him.

Doesn't Trina still have to deal with the Title IX hearing at PCU? Or has that been dropped?

She mentioned after the charges were dropped that she needs to get back into PCU, so it sounds like the school had already expelled her

Is that the first time we're hearing about her expulsion? If so, way to bury a lede, Show. Trina didn't seem that upset about it.

It is obscene that the Trina frame-up nonsense has been going since March lol.

It is clear the writing is there for Spencer and Trina, but I don't trust Frank Valentini when it comes to non-white characters, ever. He still operates from a mindset of 'don't upset the white grandmas' from 2010. I feel like they've strung this out for as long as humanly possible as he struggles to find any way to put the Black girl with someone else and find another white chick for Spencer. I hope I'm wrong. Either way, TA remains gold as she's been since her first day.

Very much the same. like she lost me with her waking up Oz and screaming at him to tell her what he knew about Esme.
