  1. Whyyyyyyyy??????? Some movies don't need sequels. They are fine ending where they do. (I mean, I know why -- $$$ -- but whyyyyyyyy?????)
  2. I continue to hate the Sonic commercials, particularly the one where the two women are trying to figure out how to spell "bananas". And I don't see the point of the one where the dog is sitting in the passenger seat, panting, while the woman eats whatever she's eating. The two idiots from the old days were less bad than these "real" people.
  3. I just finished watching and I loved every minute of this silly show! I am torn on whether or not there should be a second season — this one was so good, I’d hate to have it ruined by a less-good sequel. I haven’t read all the things y’all linked to, but I will! I’m sure I missed some references. Alan Cumming was a delight, as usual, and the woman who played the school marm was fantastic. Did everyone except Our Heroes always wear the same clothes? I think my favorite song was the sex talk song.
  4. You can spread COVID if you test positive, regardless of vaccine status.
  5. Having Alex's disembodied voice, or even his CGI-bodied voice would be way too creepy. Like those Jimmy Dean commercials.
  6. To (mis)quote and paraphrase Nanci Griffith -- I want to fill up my suitcase with unnecessary plastic objects! Nanci was talking about Woolworth's, but it applies to the Dollar Tree, too! I love the little plastic baskets of all shapes and sizes.
  7. Not only are they too large, they're too fluffy! I have the same issue. I used to be able to get smaller, thinner towels at K-Mart, but now I don't even know where to start looking. I have a top-loading Kenmore washer that I bought for myself for my birthday in 1990. I've had to have the timer replaced once, but it's still going strong, with no funky odors. It's in the basement, so I can't leave the top open or spiders will set up housekeeping. The matching dryer has had to have two new belts (it's probably about due again), but otherwise is also still going strong. Peeve? That newer appliances don't last as long as the older ones.
  8. This was a gorgeous film! And the score was just perfect. I admit to being a little confused at times, but I am not terribly familiar with the source material -- just a passing knowledge. I thought it was an interesting decision to make Morgana be Gawain's mother. I mean, it worked, but I don't recall that being part of the legend. I liked it quite a lot, in the end. Reading a bit more about it after seeing it helped, too. Dev Patel is also remarkable. He's come a long way since Slumdog Millionaire and Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (which I love). He's made some great choices.
  9. Your link goes to the thread for The Hype. And I agree with the rest of your post!
  10. Charlie pretty much looked exactly the same his whole life. Mick and Keith did not age well at all, but Charlie was timeless. I always loved the wink-wink, nudge-nudge eye-rolling he did in the videos.
  11. They never ate the souffles because they always ruined them by slamming doors!
  12. Oh, that makes me sad. RIP Charlie, you were one of the best.
  13. I watched the one this morning where Monk meets Natalie, and I can say with great confidence that goldfish can and do live at least seven years. There was an adult goldfish at my current job when I started in 2013, and it lived until the middle of last summer.
  14. I have a love/hate relationship with reserved seating in movie theaters. Today, it was more on the love side. I bought a ticket two weeks ago for this special 35th anniversary showing of Star Trek IV (the whale movie), and was happily in my seat when a large group came in and tried to bully me out of it, claiming they'd bought my row. Nope, sorry. I stood my ground, and they finally realized that they were idiots who thought row A was the farthest from the screen -- they'd bought row A. I was in row G, the actual row farthest from the screen. They still tried to get me to move, but I did not. Then they tried to sit on either side of me, crowding me, and I stood firm about social distancing. They finally moved to another row (still not row A) where they could all sit together. And I enjoyed the hell out of that movie, as I always do. Some movies really are better on the big screen.
  15. Lee Cowan has a nice voice. How about him? Or Steve Hartman? Why yes, I am watching CBS Sunday morning right now.
  16. I did not immediately realize Quint's story was based on a true event. In my defense, I was only 11 when I first saw Jaws. I thought it was just some made-up thing for the movie until my older brother told me otherwise, and I looked it up for myself.
  17. I don't think anyone is expecting perfection, but it would be nice to have a decent human being.
  18. I am incredibly relieved that the correct decision was made! And I've surprised myself by being okay with Buzzy hosting. Although it might be a good time to let the one-week guests have another shot?
  19. Up until reading that article, I'd been willing to give Richards the benefit of the doubt. Naive? Maybe, but maybe just hopeful. Now I'm not so sure I want to give him anything. I wonder if they'd replace him if the ratings completely tank?
  20. Back in the original Noid days, it took me forever to get the joke -- what the noid was -- until someone finally said "a Noid" instead of the noid. Duh.
  21. I did see the movie, and wasn't impressed with her acting. I also hate Shallow.
