  1. The new series of Sewing Bee starts Wednesday 14th April, 9pm on BBC One. And if any of you are interested in jewellery design, All That Glitters: Britain's Next Jewellery Star will premiere next Tuesday (April 13th) on BBC 2.
  2. I think it was very obvious that, although some admitted to not practising their bakes, the contestants this week do have at least some experience with cooking and/or baking. Apart from John breaking the mixing bowl there were no big mistakes this week? Was that a slightly annoyed look on Prue's face when Paul tried to push Nadine during the judging?
  3. If the writer thinks thats bad they should take a look a equestrian sports. Hamilton's dad Anthony is as much a superstar as his son. I love how lovingly Lewis talks about him.
  4. Someone (Glenn) made goat cheese ice cream back when Mel & Sue were still hosting GBBO (2013). I remember that Sue, who hates goat's cheese, tried and wasn't keen on it.
  5. There is also a British version of this show which aired a couple of months ago on the BBC, if anyone is interested.
  6. During the actual race the crash was in the background of the shot and they didn't show any replays of the crash until Romain was safely out of the car and they knew that he was OK-ish. Such a noticable change from 10-20 years ago when they would've just kept the cameras rolling. The medical car crew, especially the FIA medic, should've gotten the man of the race trophy.
  7. That was a pleasant surprise - especially as her character was totally different from aunt Sarah. Grandda Joe was in too. Pity that the show itself wasn't that great. I was late to The Fall an did a double take when I spottet Siobhan McSweeny in series 1. I wonder if they'll keep Nicola's short hair for the new DG series.
  8. And a tidbit about one of the mysterious dark haired ladies featured in the trailer:
  9. That was more entertaining than I thought it would be. Stacey is yet another celebrity who didn't bother to do a single testrun before entering the tent. I was surprised how well Katherine Ryan's brand of humor gelled with the show. She comes on very strong at times (and her Netflix show The Duchess was terrible), but I really enjoyed here. I also enjoyed watching someone who knows what they are doing bake a glutenfree cake and not make much of a fuss about it. Compared to all the moaning we usually get from the regular Bake Off contestants in 'Free from' week. Her meregue dogs were the best thing in this episode. JJ did surprisingly well considering he had no clue what he was doing. Is that boxing fight everything Matt knows about KSI? All his jokes were about Logan Paul. Love that Jade did so well, pitty her showstopper didn't come together as she had planned. But her Fondant Fancies were the only ones that looked like proper FF, and according to Prue tasted nice aswell.
  10. Tonight: Between Stacey Dooley, Katherine Ryan and a cocktail flavoured challenge, I don't know if this is something I want to watch sober.
  11. wasn't it triggered by Georgia bursting in on Ginny taking sexy selfies or something like that?
  12. Writing fan fiction made EL James a millionaire (and her ff is truly terrible). So, who knows 🙃
  13. If only my homework back in the day was as funky as this 😅. The Guardian critic described G&G as Gilmore Girls meats Desperate Housewifes. I'd also throw in The OC for the part about Ginny and her friends. From that, I read 2 things. Firstly, the show tries to be too many things at once and secondly, G&G is not a modern show, its very much a show in the style of 15 years ago. (In one of the episode threads there was a discussion that the secret party/drinking/drugs/sex stuff on this show is more or less the same what teenagers did in the 90s) I have no issues with the akward sex scenes (there were only two of them anyway) because it fits with the vibe of the show and how they filmed them back in the 00s. The missing condom though, that was a headscratcher and I wouldn't put it past the writers that it was something they put in to keep people watching. To some extent the teenage sex issues almost feel like an afterthought - something they included later to broaden their appeal. Sex Education is totally different. Their USP is to openly adress everything about love, sex and gender that nobody talked about 10-20 years ago. Its witty and funny and colourful. It revels in not being prejudiced against people with different orientations or fetishes. Sex Education is a show people should watch and (to some extent) learn from. G&G is something they should watch and question.
  14. I think the second season might reveal a few not so family friendly things about Mr. Mayor - maybe send him and Georgia down a Bonnie & Clyde lane before something turns them against each other and push Georgia towards a happily ever after with Joe. Kudos @kieyra for volunarily watching the show multiple times. I do that after every season of Sex Education, but couldn't bring myself to rewatch G&G. That girl needs to wise the f*ck up. A prime example of an angry teenager who thinks she knows best. I tried to imagine what Ginny's story that season would've looked like if the had gotten pregnant from her spontaneous unprotected quicky - somewhat mirroring her mother's story. But at the same time we can't deny that she is a product of the environment she grew up in. This girl has very much been shaped by a mother that likes to think they are like the Gilmore Girls - open conversations and all - while keeping so much hidden from her children. Uprooting the family every other year and the way Georgia acts and behaves around men herself does not make her a great role model. Teenagers like Ginny only know the world from their POV and need someone to help them see themselves as part of a bigger picture. Who is gonna help her see herself and how her actions are perceived by others? And is it someone she trusts?
  15. My favourite part of the show was when Singer and the FBI made the tapped phone calls to the parents and someone mentioned how open and chatty those white collar money people are on the phone - and that any proper criminal would've realised this was a setup within 10 seconds. The key factor with the sailing coach was that unlike most of the other side door connection, he didn't pocket the money himself - it went to the school. Not a good look for Stanford. I also have to agree with the one admissions expert, that there is a place for everyone who wants to go to university, the problem is that they all want to go to the same 10-20 universities. Its pretty much the same in the UK. Although I have to admit that, when there is absolutely nothing else on, I occasionally watch those 'Did I get in?' and 'A Level results' videos on Youtube and get really sucked into the excitement/disappointment. The college counselor at Olivia Jade's old school realising that there was something going on was quite enjoyable. As was the mother who had a discussion with Singer, worrying that her smarter second daughter would realise what's going on.
  16. Aww lovely way to wrap this up. Glenn hiring both, Mateo and Cheyenne, seems a bit much. They would get bored so quickly with no one else around to bitch about or trash talk the other. And as others have mentioned, they know nothing about hardware. LOL even Carol was at the BBQ and seeing younger versions of themselves in job interviews.
  17. If ever there was a scene that needed Dinah and a tranquillizer gun it was Marcus stumbling over the bag of feed that they conveniently didn't zip up when they built a fort around it. Dinah and Garrett are basically together. Whats with Carol and the Britney bachelorette track suits?
  18. Quick question: If Max wasn't quite sure what his relationship status with Brigitte was before Kat sent the email, what was he on about during the onion relish scene a few episodes back? Sure he came over to confess his feelings for her? The cat cafe and singing are their hip angle, but apart from this it is a very early 00s show with the same comedy platitudes and trope-y stories (oh, someone left the cat's ashes in a taxi you say?). And the same old style cast structure with the white lead couple (where the hot guy was picked from a Ralph Lauren ad) plus some gay supporting characters (a mamma's boy, much fresh, such new) and the black best friends (Randi is the bossy one of course), who hook up. There are so many variations they could've gone for with the casting - not that that would've made up for the lazy ass writing. At least they shoe-horned some highly academic background in for Kat, because that was so relevant to Mayim's brand the story. I don't expect this to be cancelled, so they better use the break to work on improving the show. Get some decent writers in and hand out a few vouchers for acting lessons. Find some chemistry somewhere. I quite warmed to Sheila, she is great in group scenes and the bit with her finding her cat soulmate at the prawn cocktails was actually quite cute. Oscar is great too - he would've made a great (male) Kat.
  19. To be honest, as impressive as some 3D bakes can look, I don't want to eat something thats 50% fondant, sugar paste, creme and artificial colour. Not that anybody asked, but I have similar thoughts on those massive decorative chocolate and blown sugar sculptures - yes its impressive that you can make a life size giraffe out of chocolate, but what a waste. Are they ever eaten and is sculpturing chocolate even nice to eat? I watched the third episode - or rather had it on in the background. Not only did they pull out a previous GBBO challenge as show stopper, the technical was also something we've seen before (in series 3?). The signature wasn't new either, but there is only so many variations of traybakes they can set to ease them in. I don't know who any of the contestants this week are.
  20. I leave this here as a warm up for the series finale: A monatge of the naughty customer scenes
  21. Her answer to their first question, where she said she threw out the rule book and went with what she wanted to do set the tone for the whole conversation - which felt like an uber-awkward job interview. I cringed when they asked her what she wanted to do going forward and she listed pretty much everything that guest judge Matthew Williamson (love him!) is doing. She did a great job on the house, very impactful colour choices, but it was too much for me in places. Loved her living room and the hall with that gorgeous artwork. She lost me with those ugly fake plants on top of a room divider upstairs and the bedrooms. The Pink and Yellow colour combo is dreadful and the difference Lindsey's kitchen island made became really apparent. I share the judges view, that Lindsey should've made the two bedrooms more distinct. Apart from that, she did a stunning job. Her husband joking that they could name the baby Michelle, if it helps his wife win, was cute. I don't know when Lindsey is supposed to start on the hotel, but thats gonna be a lot with either a newborn or in the final stages of pregnancy. All in all that was a pretty good series, wasn't it? A bit too much focus on commercial but maybe covid restrictions made working in private homes impossible this year. I enjoyed the comedy bits that included the craftspeople and their deadpan facial expressions more than Alan on his own.
  22. I am pretty sure he had to make a new batch. Health and safety would never allow him to use the original one. A few years back on GBBO, a jar explode on Rahul's (?) workbench because it was so hot in the tent and he had to wait until the whole area was cleared and was given time to restart his whole bake. I was surprised they chose Sheldon out of the bunch of weak bakers this week. His strudel filling sounded pretty interesting, even though I question the point of filling strudel pastry with rice. Why nobody goes for a good old, traditional, apple strudel in those challenges is beyond me. They are the best strudels. I already let Mr. Aulty know that there will be strudel on the weekend.
