  1. The Guardian has a lovely article about SE up. Contains very mild spoilers for season 3.
  2. Una Stubbs death: Sherlock and Worzel Gummidge star dies aged 84
  3. As @TVbitch has already mentioned, Patrick will be on Celebrity Masterchef this year. His episode will air next Monday (August 16th) at 9 on BBC one. He will cook against Loose Women's Penny Lancaster, reality TV star Megan McKenna, TV presenter Melanie Sykes, and comedian Nabil Abdulrashid. Any chance we can get Esme on Strictly? She can make her own costumes :-)
  4. Siobhan McSweeney (Sister Michael) has a new show: Siobhán McSweeney explores Northern Ireland's lakes, mountains, coastline and forests on her electric bike, from Strangford Lough to the Mourne Mountains, the Fermanagh Lakelands and beyond. It starts on August 12th at 9 pm on More 4 (Channel 4)
  5. Former Bake Off winner John Whaite to compete in Strictly’s first all-male pairing. John won the UK BBC S3 (2012) / US PBS S5 (2018) / US Netflix "The Beginnings" collection 1.
  6. I watched it. It was vintage Top Gear stuff, entertaining, but a bit predictable. My biggest quibble with the last 3 specials is that they are too long. There is a point, usually around the halfway mark where they run noticeably out of steam and try to patch the dry spell with some sort of stunt. This time it was the Prince Andrew Pizza Express and straight forward shooting weekend bit. Imho they need to either cut it down to an hour or re-think the way they put it together. How many bridges have we seen them build these past 15 years?
  7. Can I add another, incredibly superficial, reason why I wanted Kamala and Prashant to work out? (Spoiler for Netflix's Indian Matchmaking) All the older couples in arranged marriages they interviewed on the show gave the impression that they were happy and it really can work.
  8. Filmation wasn't the reason why they looked the same, it was Mattel using the same molds to produce the figures. The show was created to sell the toys. There is a decent documentary about MotU on Netflix that shows how they came up with the whole thing. A whole bunch of figures use the same body, just coloured differently - Beast Man and Moss Man for example and iirc the original He Man, Sceletor and Man At Arms figures also had the same body with different heads and colours. As were Teela and Evil-Lynn. The team at Mattel also didn't have any budget left to do a mold for a companion when they initially designed the ffigure, so they just took a cat figure from another set that was not in scale with the He Man figures, painted it green with yellow stripes, and voila: Cringer/Battle Cat
  9. I liked it alright, but I am not surprised that the Teela centred first half of season 1 has its haters. The clownfish people are uber-whiney though. Mattel has had a substantial record of shitty ideas for the Masters of the Universe long before this latest installment. I assume Netflix is doing this with a new audience in mind. I wasn't that keen on the new She-Ra, but I think in terms of reimagening it for today's young viewers it turned out quite well. I always liked Orco in the OG series, and my favourite scenes from Revelation were Evil-Lynn and Orco's heart to heart. I expect the second season will be Teela and her merry gang fighting Sceletor to save Adam. My one rant: Now everybody knows that Adam is He-Man. Thats a bit weird. Will the sorceress pull out a neuralyzer and whipe everyone's memory at the end of s1? I think I would've preferred that.
  10. Can we also acknowledge what a shitty GF Eleanor is in this episode? She is so invested in Devi's drama, she doesn't realise how shitty she treats that poor lad.
  11. Maybe he needed Devi as a drill instructor, because thats what he is used to from swimming practice? If Paxton has been floating on his sporting prowess for a long time, he might not know how to study properly - and I know, its not that hard, but any hurdle can be discouraging.
  12. And Baku! All the team bosses trying to contact Michael Massey to whine and complain should be a straight to order 10 episodes comedy. Let me know if they show the contents of Toto's email on the show 😂 I used to work for the WRC for 5 years so I am no stranger to a moaning team principal, but F1 people really are on another level.
  13. iirc there was also a flashback that hinted about her having a miscarriage (Mohan said something to the tune of 'we have one perfect daughter already')
  14. Incl. a first look at Jemima Kirke as new head of Moordale.
  15. Totally agree with your view on the lab situation. And lets not forget that Prashant also encouraged Kamala to get in with the geeks to become part of the team - which is what made her sneaky dairy based plan possible in the first place. I really wanted her to chose Prashant and show how aranged marriages can work in modern time. They were on the same page about taking it slow, and he didn't seem to have a problem with her career or any plans to move back to India. Also, both actors are just so damn gorgeous. Yes, I am shallow.
  16. I don't know if any of you watch the races or just the show, but the way the 2021 F1 season is unfolding, the next season of Drive To Survive will be a belter.
  17. The interaction between the mothers was so sweet. Aneesa's mom could've stormed in like a tasman devil, but she was open to talking and, more important, listening. The over the top marching band bit is so overused in teen TV shows.
  18. Devi's 'I have the bigger shit' behavior really hasn't changed much this season, has it? I am surprised Fabiola and Eleanor are still standing by her when she repeatedly interrupts them to talk about _her_ problems and expects them to run interference so she can date 2 guys. Aneesa is a really interesting character and its refreshing that they mention she is Indian muslim, but it isn't used for scripted tension.
  19. Its amusing that Eric, in season 1, was the disgusting fat boy and now he is just a weird, chubby, lovable nerd. Was he with the robotics team in s1?
  20. She shouldn't narrate. Too rushed, lack of enunciation. And too squeaky. I loved Paxton's grandda and that all the senior ladies are afte rhim. I also enjoyed that it was Rebecca who pushed Paxton about his lack of academic ambition.
  21. From a birdseye perspective, what is more cruel: Devi accidentally starting a rumor about Aneesa without knowing it was actually true, or Ben being with Aneesa even though he wants someone else and is annoyed by her lack of academic ambition? I was a bit disappointed with Kamala. One comment from Prashant that does not align with her ambitions (and tbf her plan could've gone terribly wrong) and she ditches him for a guy she knows nothing about?
  22. They did hot dogs on day 2 this week iirc, but I too was wondering why sausages didn't feature more prominently on their menu. Thanks @biakbiak - if they are used to making their own sausage, I can see why its tricky to do them on the GFTC. I am rooting for the sausage boys now because their chef is very likeable and looks like a Korean Dave Grohl. Yes, I am shallow ;-)
  23. LOL this show. I didn't mind that they had to switch to deliveries only - where I am that was a lifeline for food truck businesses during the height of lockdown. But the way Silicon Valley re-imagined delivery services (Deliveroo, Uber Eats ...) - or whatever Tyler was hinting at - isn't sending two guys out in a sedan during rush hour to do bulk deliveries. Didn't one of the trucks tell the customer that the food would arrive between 4:30 - 6:30? Who orders food with a 2 hour delivery window? The hoo haa about Lime Truck's 200+ dollar item? 100% a producer led 'row'. And the fridge in the sausage truck stopped working? And the Waffle guys locked themselves out of their truck. And a waffle with fried chicken, fried veg and a fried egg is healthy?
  24. All episodes of The Watch are now available on the BBC iPayer for any British viewers who think they can stomach it.
