  1. I'm excited to see John Finnemore join the writing team. He is quite good at writing witty comedy from different angles and for very different personalities.
  2. Anyone want a promo and two sneak peeks to prepare for the ultimate glorification of tiny Jane? Course you do:
  3. Let me bring these mild spoilers for S3 over from the media thread: I kinda hope that Otis' casual sex is with Ruby - because there is little risk of either catching feelings, and having him sleeping with too many girls is a bit ooc. When Otis and Maeve eventually get together I want room for them to learn from each other and not just on an emotional level. Ideally they string the lost voicemail out for 3 episodes max and then get serious about getting those two together. As good as some of the other storylines are, deleting the message was such a lame teen soap trope and getting them together should give them plenty of interesting material to work with. I don't feel Eric and Adam yet, but I look forward to how they handle those two in the bedroom. Adam's big dick will be quite a challenge for a first-timer. Not keen on whatever they have planned for Jean this season. I am sure Otis will take the baby news well 🙄 On another note: How many seasons do you think we'll get with this show? If they are in sixth form already they can only stretch it so far.
  4. Sounds like Belgian sugar waffles (Liege waffles) - they are soooo goood. Thanks for letting us know, that definitely raises my opinion on the Waffle truck. I don't know about the original recipe, but there are plenty of recipes that don't require the batter to rest over night (although thats always better flavourwise). I have a hunch that the trucks are allowed to bring some dry ingredients with them and the shopping trips on the show are mainly for fresh ingredients like meat, dairy and veg. Plus it seems they don't have to get oil/fat for the deep fat fryers either. I doubt the Hawaiian and Korean trucks would be able to always get all the spices they need to achieve authentic flavors in regular supermarkets or at Cosco. If they had to start the show with zero ingredients it would also make the first shopping trip of the season very expensive.
  5. The Guardian compiled a list of the 10 of the best TV talent show judges, and its great to Bake Off (Prue), Glow Up (Val), Pottery Throwdown (Keith) and Sewing Bee (Esme) represented. But the best part is them describing Esme as 'the Incredibles’ Edna E Mode brought to life'. Spot on!
  6. Is this supposed to be Netflix' answer to the Natalie Portman/Meghan Markle narrated Disney documentaries? I tried, but its not for me - I find both the narration and the anthropomorphisation of the penguins really annoying.
  7. Mark your calendars, season 3 of Sex Education will drop on September 17th! https://www.instagram.com/p/CQgTENvjahU edit: TVLine has some mild spoilers:
  8. I've had it with magical solutions popping up over night including the pots of gold that are suddenly available to re-hire Kat. I am happy to watch a younger generation be successful and thriving and adress important social issues. But it has to be on merit - it can't just fall into their laps as a reward for managing to have a week without fucking up or having a meltdown. This show just feeds into the entitled millenial stereotype. Well done Jane for finding a way to keep the jewellery company happy - what is she going to do when the same thing happens with a brand she can't just shove sideways into the verticals bucket? Have they ever shown any of the 3 navigating a tight spot without a super hipp solution? Someone in the styling department must have lost a dare - there is no other reasonable explanation for Jane wearing that tweed/trenchcoat atrocity. Oliver can't handle a difficult client by himself but expects a trainee editor to have more clout? And why not have a good old flash forward before giving Jane a promotion? A '5 years later' showing her as a sucessful editor of her vertical, occasionally filling in for Jaqueline before being promoted to the iron throne workout-workstation would make a lot more sense.
  9. Those stupid kick-off challenges at the start of the episodes are doing my head in. Test them on something more relevant for Fod Truckers like fixing the truck, changing a tyre or enticing sign wirting.
  10. The thing that bugs me most about Addison, and please correct me if I am wrong, is the implied notion of a Gen Z person looking up to and for guidance in a millenial. Aren't they supposed to roll their eyes at each other?
  11. TBF daytime drinking seems to be a regular thing at Scarlet. What I find even more concerning is breaking out the hard liquor to toast something at home with your house mates - they wouldn't have stopped after 1 shot. Sutton clearly has a problem, but all 3 girls should watch their alcohol consumption. It was the same with Kelsey on Younger. Question because I missed it: which of those morons was the one that added more mushrooms to the tea?
  12. That continuity of the ink stain on Jane's face was hilariously off. Jane can't be Jaqueline. The management style is very closely connected to personality - at least the way they play it on this show. Giving someone a story they don't want to write might have worked on Jane, but its not a magic recipe that will work on anyone. But how great for Jane that her mushroom trip gave added the mighty story about how she overcame and solved her management issues with Addison to her fairy tale. Of course she sat Jaqueline down for sotry time right away. She barely manages to get her only employee to not quit and Jaqueline thinks she is ready to sub for her? Its not that I am against giving young people a chance or a challenge, but its all SO SO out of proportion with Jane. Scarlett really needs to revise their security processes. She might think its ok, but Kat being able to waltz in without signing in and then spend a considerable amount of time alone in the fashion closet, put on company clothes and take them home is a big no. How are Oliver and Sutton not aware of the downsides of fast fashion? Do they really need a teenager to tell them that? And because Scarlet is a great unicorn company, they pull the ads from the dirty dirty label and instead they do an organic thrift spread. Of course, in the end Jane gets another boost, Kat does what she wants and the only one whose career takes a bump is the person who is actually good at what she does.
  13. The spin-off is already off the table, according to Darren Starr they were never that serious about it. Plus (and I assume that's the reason why), Hilary has booked that, potentially multi-season, HIMYM gig for Hulu (?). One more word on Charles' trust issues re Liza keeping secrets: Mercury.
  14. Whenever writers or showrunners (have to) come out and explain how to interpret aspects of the story it just underlines that they've done a shit job writing or translating it to screen.
  15. This is such an over- and misused term these days, but Jane really is the definition a snowflake.
  16. I've let the dust settle on the final a bit now, and I still can't believe (although thats more or less how the books Younger is based on ended) that Liza would stay on the be Publisher at Empirical where she has to answer to a Chicaco midlife-crisis sausage fest that only allows her to publish well established authors - something she has rebelled against, via Inkubator, for much of the season. And she works for her grumpy ex. And she would be Diana's boos.
  17. I didn't know what to expect tbh and I am not mad about how they chose to end the show for each character, but I found the way they told those stories really really annoying. The hands down best scene of the episode was Liza realising that she and Charles will not last. Then cut to the next day and she agrees to run her future ex's company. This makes NO sense. Diana coud run Empirical. Charles himself spent the first half the episode starring in a luxury tech commercial. All I could think about during the back and forth with Ikubator was that Liza surely is entitled to a hefty stake in that project. Now we also now where they want to take the rumored Kelsey spin-off. (edit: the spin-off is not happening) No Diana? BOOO The Musical? BOOOOOO - although they should've had Lauren Graham on stage to close the circle between this and the dreadful musical in the Gilmore Girls revival. The last minute thruple for Lauren? Not ooc, but that screentime belonged to Diana. The last minute passion play between Maggie and the dean? Maggie deserves better. Maggie deserves a Diana. (I am mega-bummed that we never got more interaction between Maggie and Diana) In my opinion, this should've been a 4 seasons show. Anyway, thank youse all for the chat the comments on this show. I enjoyed reading everyone's opinions as much as I enjoyed watching the show - sometimes probably more ;-)
  18. How handy that Jane's apartment sprouted a secret room that unlocked the minute Sutton moved in. Hope they checked it for horcruxes. Jane really sucks as a boss. Her personality is a big part, but I can't believe that in a company that size she wasn't sent to some team leading and management seminars before or since she got the vertical. Yay for Sage getting a vertical. I love her. How does Jaqueline not know how much Andrew is paid?
  19. That was a really good episode which had everything I was ranting about last week. The smartphone challenge was a bit underwhelming again, but the street photography task was quite interesting. Odd that most contestants didn't how to set up their camera properly for that environment. I liked Jacksons 90s skater style - very grunge - but man his lack of enthusiasm is getting a bit annoying. Paul really stood out because he knew what to do with his equipment - and I liked his photos. Loved the concept and setup of the third challenge. Interesting briefs and products. Why they were so hot for the picture of the bike in Picadilly is beyond me. The picture was alright, but the bike looked like an abandoned Boris bike. But good on Ali for learning a new technique. The cacti pictures were straight off of Pinterest.
  20. Are you sure? After the truck discussion we had here after the Alaska season I kept an eye out during this first episode for sign of wear on the trucks. The seats and steering wheels looked incredibly worn and has severe sun damage. Maybe they've been refitted with new kitchens but the vehicles themselves looked pretty battleworn.
  21. Which truck would I like to order from? The Hawaiian lads and the lime guys' food sounds delicious and fresh, the Korean sausage boys sound interesting and authentic enough to peak my interest. It never ceases to amaze me how well the waffle or tater tots trucks do on this show considering how basic their dishes' bases are. The Hawaiian 75$ bread bowl was quite steep, but it sounded like a sharing dish for 4 people (edit: sorry I got them mixed up with the sausage gyus, who made a dip that. The chowder still was a pretty big portion - enough for 2). I quite enjoy that they can drum up so much support from their polynesian following.
  22. Jane faces unexpected performance reviews that shake her confidence in The Failing Feminist. Sutton’s attempts to move on from her divorce are thwarted by other’s opinions, and Kat reunites with Adena, who has a secret. E03 Promos: Run, Scott, RUN!!!
  23. I wouldn't rule it out the way this season is going, but they already had a go at that. When Josh, Kelsey and Lauren took off for a few days to go to at Lauren's former bosses' penis villa. Josh and Kelsey kissed but agreed that its weird or something like that.
  24. iirc Miriam Shor has a house in Italy (she spent part of her childhood there). If she was in Europe last autumn it would have been possible for her to travel to the US, but a lot more difficult to return to Italy legally. But it doesn't have to be travel related. If she has asthma or something that puts her more at risk from Covid it would probably make her uninsurable on set. Only having her on for only 2 minutes is taking the mickey.
