  1. Yep....and cue the snide comments about "diction" etc. when many really are rooting for a man that sounds as if he has a lisp.... They were all fine, I am resigned to them not choosing any of my favorites, but I will still watch. I suspect they have pretty much always known who it would be anyway. They did not want the fans to feel as if Alex was easy to replace and also feel as if they were having a say in it by ratings, social media comments, etc.
  2. I am underwhelmed just reading abt it. Watching will probably be worse. I think it is a terrible idea to give Iris and Barry grown children and have them try to parent. They need to stay in the future
  3. I am grateful if they did...waste of time.
  4. Underwhelmed.
  5. Good luck with thinking this is anything but a done deal. Gabe will ride it out until they move on with the next scandal....in the meantime he has his money and will open his restaurant. A lot of people who will eat there won't know ( some won't care) about the issue because they don't watch Top Chef or inhabit internet spaces that talk about it. He is showing some fake remorse and that is all it will take. At this point if he did donate any money, or his time, I would doubt the sincerity. I have not researched it outside of this forum because I have accepted that there are some terrible people...even those that make it on reality shows, that get away with all kinds of things. I don't expect these people to be perfect, but it doesn't surprise me that some of them do or have done questionable things and are no nice people in real life. I thought Shota's food was interesting all season and Dawn seemed to make food the judges liked. It was really great seeing some of the former chefs come back Melissa King just seems like she is so laid back! I wonder how she runs her kitchen under stress. I can almost imagine them pulling out meditation candles and a mat or something.... I also would like to taste Maria's food. I know a lot of people did not connect with her, but she strikes me as the type that puts her everything into her food.
  6. I don't know how to link but there was an article saying that Candice wants out after next year if it goes beyond that, along with speculation that it might continue with the twins. I hope not because it has gotten bad enough already and I immediately did not like Jordan Fisher in his role....
  7. Yes, but they chose to make an example of only one.....and I believe the only time someone has been eliminated for awful behavior....
  8. People really look for something negative in everything . According to some Jaimie and Dawn seem to have a really good relationship post show. I read it as she realized it was taking Jaimie so much time because she had not told her what she was not unwrapping the bread but putting it on the plate unwrapped. It would have taken Jaimie more time because she was unwrapping the bread and Dawn was not. She took responsibility for not telling her what she wanted, as well as putting too many things on the plate. It's over, she 's fine, why are the fans not fine??? What more do people want? Do they want her to berate herself from now until eternity? She messed up, she is not the first person to do so, she won't be the last. There is more conflict between fans than the contestants/actors have between themselves on most shows or movies, etc. these days and it is sad. This season was lovely in that the contestants seemed to respect and support each other.
  9. Well, when I was in school in elementary they would tease you if you ate the school lunch and did not bring one from home.....picking on WHAT it was was next....but then in Junior HIgh if you brought a lunch from home then they picked on you.....fun times.
  10. Ha! Nah....they will still be on here complaining about Gabe saying he was Mexican American. I never really thought Dawn was going to win, but like you would have been happy with any of them. As I have said previously, winning is not always an indicator that you will be the most successful. I was good to see Maria and Byron again
  11. But unfortunately unlike Dawn it was something that he had announced on the menu and they were expecting. I don't think Dawn's item was expected? Not sure.. I've also seen on this show and others numerous times where a contestant will say they meant to put something on the plate and the judges tell them it was good thing it didn't make it. As someone noted there is a difference between plating and leaving a component off one or more plates that is on the other plates and totally not putting a component on any plate. Obviously the judges and producers know the rules, if there are any, that apply to each scenario. Sometimes a missing component is the difference between good and bad, and others it is the difference between fantastic and amazing.....which means it really may not change the fact that the dish was awesome that much.
  12. I am so glad that lately if I am not connecting to a contestant they end up losing without going five shows or more. I typically don't notice a lot that other people do, but we had one recently whose rocking and mouth movement was jarring...and one who was so robotic. Outside of that, we have had some good games lately. I like competitive games more than blowouts. The only blowouts I enjoyed where James' shows.
  13. Many of the chefs who come on this show have restaurants that have failed, even those that were not trying a fairly new concept. It amazes me that when someone is confident or critical they are automatically thought to be arrogant, even Tom. Everyone doesn't have a "warm and fuzzy" personality, and also some people are way too sensitive. HIs job, as the same with Dale, etc. was to come and be judge on this show. Being critical is part of the job, whether you were a previous contestant or not. His upbringing or successes or failures may not have anything to do with how he critiques this show. I would never do reality tv as people sit back and become professional analysts qualified to decide a person's issues, personality, etc. via a television screen. I think the nature of that work in a really successful restaurant means that sometimes all of them have been curt, abrupt, etc. at one time or another in a moment of pressure, even if they are incredibly sweet otherwise. I also believe that some of them are just not nice people.....that's life.
  14. Maybe someone is confusing some of what Kiki said and attributing it to Dawn? I actually did not see the entire episode, but I have to say that I have loved how much the contestants have enjoyed one another and seemed to learn from each other in the kitchen. All of the chefs seem to be really talented but the reality is that there are many chefs just as talented or more that don't go on a reality show and many people may have a different opinion than the people who are deemed to be judges. It is the same on all competitive shows.....I know 10 people who sing just as well as most anyone that won American Idol, they just never pursued the career. Again, being the winner is not always the best thing.
  15. I love cheese on fish, but then again I don't pretend to have a refined palate and move in the same circles as these people. I don't like the McDonald's fish sandwich anymore but Wendy's had a good one for a while. I think that it is possible that once you have presented they put you in the stew room, which means that Gabe nor Shota would have been around to help Dawn plate? No, what needs to die is the idea that any time a minority person succeeds it is because there is a "fix" or something untoward or unethical going on. I asked before and I will ask again, why is it that the integrity of the judges is only in question when there is a minority person involved? This season the show has been accused of giving someone a "home advantage," along with many other comments. Ironically when some people argue that people have NOT gone further because of the color of their skin the same people making the claims now are quick to jump in and say it has NOTHING to do with it. So I see, when they are winning it is because of color, but when they are losing color has nothing to do with it? And when non minorities win it is because of their talent, but when minorities win it is due to something else? Perhaps since people assume that they are judging past performance instead of the food that they were presented, is it possible that Jaimie, who had left once before and had tried to leave just the challenge before, may have put doubt in their minds as to how much she wanted it? If there are nefarious things going on based on that maybe TPTB didn't think she would be "good tv" in the long run, because they are making a show. At this point I think they are all deserving of a win, and Jaimie was too. It really doesn't matter because history has proved that frequently it is the non winners who end up having more exposure and more profitable careers....can we say Spike?
  16. Well, Chopped is not a great example because they have let people stay before that left off a component...so......
  17. Will probably have to wait 2 years for season 3!!
  18. I like this show! I enjoyed season 2 more than season 1. I adore Marc Warren and wish there was more of him. Can't wait to see where this goes.
  19. I will go one better...I don't care about love stories in a medical or police show. One of the things I loved about Law and Order the mother ship is the little time they spent on personal family lives and romance
  20. To be fair I think you have to take of jewelry for scans but I think someone said he did not have it when he came to work. I think it is a tie and I am raising the roof the next time I am told I need to wait for the results of my scan.
  21. I hear you! I think they said in addition to not liking his father, he wanted to sell himself as a respectable businessman. I think Angela's lawyer even mentioned that as many times as he had socialized with them he never knew or had any suspicions about Richard's background. Also, hear ye, hear ye! I tried SVU after Stabler left, but Rollins and Olivia are the main reasons I stopped watching it. I mean, if she is still on the force I don't know why Green had to leave under a cloud....
  22. I can't believed they hyped this episode as if it would be satisfying! Iggy- No one cares and I hope this episode means that the writers realized this and he is going bye bye. I don't know what they were aiming for with his family scenes, but they didn't achieve it. Reynolds- Another no one cares. It was obvious to me that was her husband as soon as he entered the scene. Just ridiculous for them to pretend that they didn't know each other, and even more ridiculous that she would not have mentioned that her husband was working at the hospital, no matter what the "rules" were. Reynolds has always been a blah character to me, with Bloom, with Evie, with anybody....Evie made him mildly interesting and I wish they would have explored HER more Bloom Another barely interesting character. The only thing I like about her is the guy Casey that works with her. I like Leyla more than Bloom and she has barely been on the show. Shouldn't she be more concerned with reporting that someone is taking bribes? Maybe coming forth with that information would have helped her case to get Leyla hired more than anything else. I also agree with someone upthread,...how does she know the extent of her proficiency as a doctor based upon a couple of interactions? I also don't like that they introduced Layla as an immigrant in need of saving . Couldn't they have just had a story where she was working at the hospital and they crossed paths? Maybe disagreed on a case or something? She could have still had visa problems. I don't even know where to start with the poor writing for Helen and Max. First, let me disclose that I am fine if they don't get together. I saw chemistry at first, but they dragged it out so long that I, and I am sure many like me, lost interest. That and the fact that they started writing him more and more erratically and less and less as a man a sane competent woman would be interested in. I personally wish they had cast Ian Anthony Dale or Laz Alonzo or someone like that for a love interest for Helen. The two she had she lacked chemistry with. I would also like to see her with a man that doesn't have her acting like she is dealing with an exasperating child all the time reacting to his antics. It puts her more in the stern motherly role as opposed to an attractive woman interested in a man. Max is written as a disorganized mess rather than the intelligent and caring person who we are supposed to believe is so passionate that he is willing to make risks to help others. The writers missed the opportunity to have MAX go to HELEN. She has supported him through everything and stood in the wings, but they have her coming back, cutting her time short with her mother and her niece (even after a health scare with the mom) on the strength of what we are left to assume are multiple flirty messages, and the first thing he talks about is his WEDDING ring? It would have been much stronger if he had went to London and possibly been there to support her while they were waiting for her mother's results. Then we are able to see Bloom kiss Leyla, Iggy and his husband, and Reynolds being a side piece in bed with his love interest, but the one couple some people have waited for get a silent walk and a door closed so that you can't even see the kiss? It makes me wonder if there is some behind the scenes tension with the actors or something, because, come on! Who thought this was the way to go? Also, they should have made it clear that she realized he had given up his wedding ring before the kiss, instead of making it appear that after all this, she was still willing to take whatever he was willing to offer, including competing with the memory of his dead wife. Why have him banging on the door as if he had lost his mind? If someone came to my door like that, they would still be on the other side. Especially if they had just walked away from a potential start to us AGAIN. He would have at least waited until the next day for me to acknowledge him. Also the actor makes some interesting choices with the facial tics, etc. that are so annoying. Love Freema, but I don't know if I can hate watch next year.
  23. So happy for A. Thomas. The writing for her character was horrible. She, Nicholas and Chuku deserved better.
  24. He did. I read a lot of news from GB and they did an article about it.
