So many things...but they immediately gave it away to me they way they talked about his alibi and being at a job interview out of town. Sealed the deal and I was not wrong. Very lazy to not even consider he had left town and drove back.. . I actually have watched the show more when they stopped focusing on OA and Maggie. Both of them of are not my favorite, so it has been great to see more of the rest of the cast. I don't know what it is, but OA is just awkward to me and not a great actor. I am slowly, very slowly warming to Tiffany, but I am tired of seeing her and Scola running. I just can't with sitting on the phone just watching the guy come up the stairs on the monitors and when he had left the room going at him with a weak bop on the head. If he had left the room, why not just stay in your position as you know help was on the way? Too many other issues with the episode to list. Not liking the replacement, but hopefully she is temporary. I mean, they saw the layout, I don't understand why someone was not already approaching from the other direction when she so bravely did and tackeled the dad. Also, could none of them shoot the gun from his hand or shoot his shoulder? There was opportunity when he didn't have the gun directly on the daughter's temple.

And I respect that. Thanks! And yeah, I get your point that "life is not fair," but it is more than being lucky that is driving a lot of this. I tell my students all the time life is not fair and not everyone will have the same experience or may get something you don't for a variety of reasons, but this is something different I can't articulate correctly. I particularly have to make this point when parents and other students start complaining about my students with disabilities that receive accommodations. It is an unhealthy obsession with celebrity and looking up or trying to emulate what these people do...elevating them to some level of wisdom just because they were "lucky" enough to be in the right place at the right time. It is not realistic and is leading to a lack of civility, people having financial problems, unhealthy body images and much more. We have normalized people being mean and aggressive to each other just because it makes them money on a tv show and they are using their "Platform" to advance certain behaviors. The sad thing is many times ( not all ) these people are not "better" they are just a more attractive prospect, or they have more "followers" which makes them more marketable. Luck also does not have anything to do with it when historically people have not been given opportunities. Even Jeopardy can now all of a sudden find women and people from a variety of minority or marginalized communities. Some of these same wonderful winners have been trying to get on the show for years, but they did not fit a certain demographic and they are the same people now as they were then...and just as smart. Maybe as an educator and hearing kids aspire to being "lucky" rather than going to college, etc. gives me a different perspective. They want to short cut by gaining fame by being on a show, etc. instead of doing the work. The problem is not everyone is going to be "lucky" so what about the rest who are waiting around thinking that happens for everyone? I appreciate the people who make their money and go back and live their life. Just the idea that they start talking about having a "platform" lets me know they are taking themselves way too seriously. I think you also miss the point that I have no issue with the "celebrity" and their actions, but rather the people who elevate them just because they were on tv or made the news. There are plenty of famous people who choose not to have social media or market themselves beyond the job that they do even though engaging in that way could gain them more fans, fame and theoretically more money. It is a choice and I get everyone is not going to make the same one. As you say we don't have to agree and that is o.k. I appreciate the civility

I'm too tired of this show to even complain....Freema ...I hope you have another job lined up. I am not sure I even care about the Helen character anymore and she was the only one. Bloom, Floyd, Max etc. have always been Meh to me. I don't acknowledge Lyn and her husband as part of the show. The new doctors are barely interesting and Iggy I have no idea because I fast forward through his scenes. I had some hope for Casey at one point, but they squashed that. I find it incredibly annoying for some reason when Helen calls Max her "partner" and has to always tell him how to be one.....ugh.

I don't "begrudge" anybody anything, I just think it is a sad product of where the world is going. My point being that I don't know what she or any of the others are doing because their being successful on a game show does not make them any more of an expert or more interesting than they were before talking about a subject, unless they are talking about being successful on a game show. I don't follow them. If people are really interested in what ever topic they are talking about, it is a shame that if it is a thoughtful topic they were not listening before they got a perceived "celebrity" status, because really what has changed? If she was talking about those rights before, why would I listen to her any more now than I did then if I were interested in the topic? I just saw a blurb that she had signed with someone. Just as I don't feel as if people who have been on reality shows should be elevated to hosts, presenters, singers etc. over people who have gone to school for years, paid their dues and tried to get opportunities in those fields. Someone got a "platform" for an illicit tape, but that doesn't mean I want to follow them or their ideas, value, etc. have any more value because of their number or followers or how many people saw them on tv a tape, etc. But then again, I think role models are the people in your life who are doing the things that set a good example. People in the news are admirable, but they are not people I aspire to be because I don't know them, or what they do, believe, etc. except the portions they choose to show me. Just like the dating shows people watch...they are not going to find a mate now if they ever were. They are going to get 5 minutes of fame that they can parlay into a social media career and not work. I will never understand how xxx being rejected on a dating show makes them someone I want to buy every product they hawk..... I just feel now that game shows are going the same route. Everyone wants to have "hook" that makes them memorable, a meme, GIF or trending topic...and are less serious about the "game." Even now, many of the challengers of late look like they were just happy to be there.

I am not connecting to the current champ and I am not sure why. Usually (except Austin) I can hang in there and just play the game, but I am not sure why I am feeling this way. She is extremely smart, I care less about the physical appearance, etc. I admire her achievements, but like Amy, I am ready for her to go. I honestly believe the whole atmosphere since the ill fated guest hosting and criticism has finally done what I though was impossible....made Jeopardy no longer must see tv for me. I am so sad. This show has been such a great part of my life. I even stayed away from the board for a while thinking that was it, but alas, it didn't make a difference. I am also tired of contestants leaving the show and wanting to be celebrities. Really? Amy needs a management company? I never listen to to most of the interviews in the middle because I don't care about their lives. I would like it to be the same once they lose. I mean, I loved people on Sale of the Century, etc. but had no interest in what happened to them after they left the show! Yet, I enjoyed James immensely. I don't know why, but I did. I will say even with him I don't follow his life. Since I watch the Chase I see him, but I don't seek these people out. Maybe it is me.

This! And if this was somewhat true to the books, I would have hated for V to brutally murder Bill, etc. and she and Eve have a happy ending....truly hated, so needless to say I WON'T be reading the books.

Mykelti Williamson is a great actor with a ton of other roles besides Bubba Gump. I barely even remember that he did that movie until someone brings it up.....glad to know it is safe to watch again...well with Olivia...almost

Diagnostics: New Amsterdam in the Media & Ratings
catrice2 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in New Amsterdam
Well at least it won't go on and on like ER did and hopefully they can tie storylines up in a bow.. Floyd goes back to his fiance and marries his mother off to someone who can take care of her Iggy gets a new career or decides to be a house husband Casey is running something....a clinic the ER, something Leyla never lets Lauren (?) back into her life and she leaves to open up a drug rehab Max and Helen realize that he has done all the damage that he can in New York, save NA from the evil beast, leaves in in the hands of Wilder(?) and then he and Helen move permanently to London where she is an administrator and he spend his time writing articles about what is wrong with the NHS.... -
Thanks guys....Freema is not worth this. ....
-
I can only surmise from the above that Floyd told Veronica about "the resistance?" He has always been a horrible character, so I hope this is the beginning of the end for him...for real this time. Hmm, what could bring Helen back and somewhat salvage the season for some fans.....maybe a pregnancy? Sounds like the farewell for Kapoor was spoiled by something with his son. More Iggy and Bloom nonsense, but Bloom's nurse was back? Like above, I'd love to know how Max can do anything at the hospital as a FORMER employee.

You are doing the lord's work. I know that when I am done, I am done. Had to say goodbye to the Good Doctor, and this one is close behind. Oddly, I really don't like medical dramas anyway...never was an ER, House, etc. fan. I watched Good Doctor for Chuku and Nicholas, and this show for Freema.
-
Thanks for saving me time. Goodness!
-
I was done after watching the beginning and they wanted to reach out to Max's replacement for a job reference...not the board or whomever he reported to....and that he would be that unprofessional in interviews. Why do they persist in writing this man as a "loveable" dimwit? Then it seems I didn't miss much after that. Tell me that Floyd is leaving along with his girlfriend. Somehow I have started to like him less than Bloom.....and I read above she was questioning her staff about her girlfriend? I know these shows are not based in reality...but come on!
-
I really love Freema to even read about this.....

So,where was the family for Cyril and Lucille? My DVR let me down while out of town.
-
I agree,I did not feel as much tension or suspense, but I still enjoyed it and hope there is a season 3. Still some secrets to be revealed, and really want to see Kara get her revenge.

S02.E09: The Christmas Episode
catrice2 replied to WendyCR72's topic in Law & Order: Organized Crime
I am one of the BIGGEST Law and Order fans. I pretty much left SVU when Stabler did other than odd episodes, and I was over the moon at the thought of this show. I can't with family drama and the constant SVU tie ends. I didn't mind the Wheatley story in small doses, but it is a new season. I actually stopped watching during the mob episodes and just read the board, but after watching a part of last night, I think this may be the second L&O I give up on. I have been there through L&O LA, Trial by Jury and L&O UK. I think they gave up on LA too soon, but at ti point they should have just added Stabler to SVU..... -
I like the series . Alex himself is the best for me. This series I felt lacked the same action and adventure. Although I get that Alex is suffering effects from what happened before, there was something off about how they had him portray it. Until others have watched more I will hold off on my other thoughts. It was nice to see one returning character and I REALLY hope there is a season 3.

S04.E10: Death Is the Rule. Life Is the Exception
catrice2 replied to secnarf's topic in New Amsterdam
I got my hopes up before about Bloom leaving. The pregnancy things sounds as if I will be fast forwarding a lot The show has no direction. I love Freema but I wish they would write better for Max or give her a true partner that is not so all over the place. -

Can't wait for the recaps! -
Was always over rated and importance to the show over stated. A very wooden actor whose stories ran their course a LONG time ago. Many things over the years have helped me understand why his first girlfriend was dropped on the show....and never mentioned or referenced again when they went through all of Jason's "relationships" and loves.... That said I respect his right to make that decision, and the right of his employers to let him decide to leave....
-
Yes, thanks for the recaps. I can't help but wonder what I've missed that we are already up to Luna calling Helen anything! Did thy have another time jump? I am sorry, but I still don't see where Max is such a catch....physically or in any other way. I hate the shows where the "bad guy" somehow knows or figures out everyone's secrets and has power over multiple outcomes.....ugh! Such lazy writing. I was never a Bloom fan, but I have to say that have made her even more unlikeable. I had hoped she was going to be killed off, but they brought her back for this? At this point Bloom can go and they can keep Leyla. Floyd and Iggy........

It kinda annoys me that this is on when Crossing Lines, a MUCH better show couldn't survive.

Can't wait!
