  1. I'm not even halfway through this mess because I can only take it in ten minute increments. So far, two things bug me, although I'm sure there will be many more. In the beginning, they showed some previously unaired footage of the screaming, crying breakdown in the bedroom (after scrapbooking with the kids). In that scene, Tori said to Dean that he always used the old Paul Newman quote about not being tempted to cheat, "Why fool around with hamburger when you have filet mignon at home?" (Tori said filet mignon, but Google says steak). She said he always told her that and she always believed him. She always believed that's why he wouldn't cheat on her. Maybe it's me, but I think that's just sad and pathetic. It's essentially saying he wouldn't cheat on her because he finds her more attractive than other women. Personally, I'd be pissed if my husband ever used that line on me. It puts the marriage on pretty shaky ground if you ask me. I'd prefer something along the lines of knowing he wouldn't cheat because he's an honorable, trustworthy person who loves and respects me and appreciates what we've built together as a couple and a family, and who would never do anything to hurt or betray me. Not, hey I think you're the hottest babe I can find so why look elsewhere? The fact that Tori said that Dean always used that quote and she always believed that's why he wouldn't cheat on her illustrates just how superficial their relationship really is. Then again, "fairytales" are usually superficial. The other part that irked was when she again LIED by claiming that Dean went straight into "treatment" after that session in Dr. Wexler's office where he talked about wanting to jump out the window. She said they didn't even have a chance to have a conversation about the infidelity because he went right into "treatment". Again, her timeline does not add up. I distinctly remember seeing an article around New Year's about how Tori had posted a Happy New year pic of her and Dean and the kids. He clearly was at home on New Year's Eve and she was acting like all was fine. Yet, on the show, Dean was already in rehab by then and didn't go back home for months, sometime after the show began airing this spring. So, how does she explain this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2532193/Tori-Spelling-puts-wedding-ring-two-days-removing-amid-reports-husband-Dean-McDermott-cheated-28-year-old.html Also, as I said when that episode aired, I find it extremely hard to believe that Dr. Wexler had to call an ambulance to take Dean to rehab yet that was never known until they revealed it in that episode. The episodes showed that this was at the height of the cheating scandal and they were being followed everywhere by paparazzi. Yet, somehow no one noticed an ambulance coming to take Dean to rehab. I'm not buying it.
  2. C'mon, cut the poor Browns a break. Don't you understand that having to celebrate an anniversary and three birthdays in one week - while unemployed - is so, so much work? My heart just bleeds for Kodouche and his four broodmares.
  3. Yes, sandyskyblue, I liked your idea of pouring chocolate ganache over the top. You're right, I can think of all different variations on this. Thanks for linking it! It looks like it will be an easy and quick summer dessert.
  4. ajay, thanks for the info. I don't want to be nitpicky on a typo, but I just want to let everyone know that the Hollywood Reporter actually says the premiere date is Wednesday, August 6th:
  5. sandyskyblue, that recipe looked good until I got to the Cool Whip part. I flove Nutella but can't stand Cool Whip. I might try them with fresh whipped cream. Or, even some canned frosting would be better to me than Cool Whip.
  6. Darn it, chessiegal, I didn't think of BB&B. I was just lazy and ordered it from Amazon. Still, $12.99 with free shipping isn't a bad price. Although, I just checked my order history to confirm that's what I paid. It turns out that when I ordered it, (well, two of them - one for me and one for my mother), the price was only $11.35. That was in May of last year.
  7. You're probably right, DangerousMinds. Like I said, I haven't watched the show in years. I'm just going by her gaunt appearance and the ridiculously low calorie diet she posted on her website years ago. She seemed kind of proud of herself for following such a restrictive daily meal plan, and was totally oblivious to the fact that she was revealing how she strictly follows a very low calorie diet which might be temporarily used by someone who needed to lose weight. It's certainly not a good idea or enough calories for the average woman on a regular basis.... unless that woman wants to look like a stick, that is. I forgot to mention earlier that I saw that G was on Extra on Monday, promoting her show. Mario Lopez introduced her by talking about the surrogate's miscarriage. It was the main focus of the very brief interview. I'm sure she did other appearances like this too. As others have said, it's pretty creepy that they seemed to sit on the miscarriage news until they wanted to use it this week to garner headlines and promote the season finale.
  8. I missed that news, had no idea until reading it just now. I had read a few weeks ago that Maria Menounos was quitting Extra, but no mention had been made regarding her future plans, and she's still be on the show since the announcement. I used to watch G & B, but gave up a few seasons ago after I checked out her website. She had some Q&A post and answered a question about what she eats every day. She described in excruciating detail the extremely calorie restricted meal plan she adheres to on a daily basis, (in order to maintain her stick figure frame). It definitely seemed to me that she had an eating disorder. That, coupled with the episode where she chose to ignore the fertility doctor's advice about trying to add 10 pounds to her underweight body in order to possibly improve her chances of conceiving just turned me off for good. I just Googled to see if I could find her website post that I referred to. All I found was this HuffPo article from June2010 where G was apparently trying to put it out there that she does indeed eat a decent amount of food: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/23/giuliana-rancic-what-i-at_n_623214.html However, the article mentions that G revealed a far more restrictive diet last year (2009), with a link to her website. I suspect that link went to the Q&A post that I was referring to, but it gives an error message now. I bet she deleted that post from her website because of all the criticism regarding the extreme diet that she said she followed on a daily basis.
  9. It seems that way to me also. It looks like they haven't spoken in years, but the preview did say that Amber was in Melissa's wedding and they just drifted apart after that. I don't think they've had anything to do with each other for years. Bravo is just bringing them on the show for the manufactured drama, along with Amber's friends, the tacky twins. Btw, I Googled Amber's husband's name and found some interesting info. Here's one article: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/21/business/21whistle.html?_r=1&
  10. I'd love to know what the deal is between Dina and Caroline. I might have missed something because I skipped a season or two in the middle somewhere before I got pulled back in.
  11. Ha, thanks, MelW. And thanks for the recipe info. I'm going to try it out soon.
  12. MelsW, thanks for the crab cake recommendation. Coincidentally, we just had crab cakes for dinner last night. Is this the recipe you used: http://www.createtv.com/CreateProgram.nsf/vRecipes/Maryland+Crab+Cakes
  13. Yes, I can see how she uses the show to bring attention to her charity and sell tickets. Although, as far as I'm concerned, if anyone from one of the charities I'm involved with ended up on a POS show like RH and surrounded themselves with pigs like this, I'd have second thoughts about being affiliated in any way with that charity. You're known by the company you keep, so I'd have to wonder why Dina would want to be involved with these uncivilized a-holes.
  14. After watching the preview, I think I'm out. This is the only RH show I watch, mostly to snark on the tacky low class losers. But, damn, these three new bitches are the worst! They're rather repulsive and I have no interest in watching them manufacture drama just to garner air time. As for Dina, didn't she always try to act like she was above all this shit, and that she left the show because the drama was too much? WTF would she want to come back on the show and be forced to hang with these idiots she doesn't even know and has nothing in common with? Oh, yeah, that's right....money. You couldn't pay me enough money to take part in this crap.
  15. I stopped watching Property Virgins a long time ago because I didn't like the way they ended the episodes with just the announcement of what house they chose but no real follow up after they moved in (if they even bought the house). Do they still do that the same way, or have they changed it by now? I love Income Property, but I have to admit that I liked the old half hour version better. Since they changed the format and went to an hour, I have a really bad backlog of the episodes on my DVR. I guess I'll get around to watching them eventually.
  16. persiaa, from what I've read on TWoP, the show is totally fake. There's a design team and a construction crew doing all the work, and the brothers just pop in to film phony, staged scenes.
  17. Smokey17, enjoy your trip to Boston and visit with your son! A Top Chef sighting would be fun.
  18. I just checked the website for Better Than Bouillon and they do have reduced sodium versions of their chicken, beef and vegetable bases: http://www.betterthanbouillon.com/products/default.aspx?catid=4 Unfortunately, it's only 25% less sodium of an already sky high amount. Looking at the reduced sodium chicken base, it says: Sodium content has been reduced from 680mg to 500 mg per reference serving. http://www.betterthanbouillon.com/products/product-detail.aspx?productid=37
  19. We use our grill often and year round, but my husband usually handles it. He doesn't put oil on the grill; he just sprays some Pam on it before he turns it on. Then, as soon as he removes the food, he uses a steel brush to scrape any food off the hot grill so it's clean for next time.
  20. Thanks for the info on that, SFoster21. I just set the DVR timer. It says it's a half hour show, a "glimpse" of the new season. I'll have to check it out because I'm not sure I'll be watching this season after reading about the new people they're adding.
  21. Our old one broke just about a year ago so we got this one from Amazon and it's been great: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00009WE45/ref=redir_mdp_mobile I also ordered one for my mother and she likes it too. It's very accurate, reads quickly, and stores nicely in the cover that comes with it. If you have Amazon Prime, shipping is free. ETA: I was on my phone when I posted that link to Amazon and I just now realized it's a link to their mobile site. Here's the thermometer link on the regular site: http://www.amazon.com/Taylor-9842-Commercial-Waterproof-Thermometer/dp/B00009WE45
  22. That damn wet bar is how I ended up watching this show in the first place. I came in on the season they were building all the houses in Vegas and have been watching it ever since. I came for the house porn and got dragged into watching the plyg drama. Janelle is my favorite, with Christine following her. Robin is a distant third, and I totally can't stand Meri. Kody is a doofus. From what I've seen so far, I think their teenage kids seem surprisingly normal and like pretty decent kids.
  23. caseylane, do you use a food thermometer? We started using one several years ago and we've had great success with all types of meat using the internal temperature as a guide rather than the cooking time. They changed the recommended safe temp for pork a few years ago. Try cooking it to an internal temp of 145 and then letting the pork chops rest about three minutes before serving. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/25/dining/porks-safe-cooking-temperature-is-lowered.html?_r=0 http://www.foodsafety.gov/keep/charts/mintemp.html
  24. That's interesting, Bastet. I didn't know that either. So, which brands did they like the best and which rated lower? ETA: Curiosity made me Google it: http://www.americastestkitchen.com/taste_tests/590-chicken-broth All the info is there except the brand names. You have to click on "Watch the Video" at the end of the article to see the segment. They had two winners; one was a concentrate and one was chicken stock in the box. The concentrate was Better Than Bouillon Chicken Base, but they warned that it's borderline too salty. The favorite of the chicken broths was Swanson's Cooking Chicken Stock in the carton. Good to know, since that's the only one I ever buy. They rated College Inn's Light and Fat Free Chicken Broth as flavorless and bland, and the one that tasted horrible was Pacific's Organic Free Range Chicken Broth.
