  1. Judges are human too and although a judge would never admit it, I would not be surprised at all if a judge took a look at a reality show out of curiosity. No one would know about it and it's not what the judge would explicitly base a sentencing decision on, but we'll never know if the judge saw the show.
  2. A little digging around tells me that Nicole and Teresa and their parents are from Brooklyn, NY. I'm not sure how long they've all lived in Colts Neck, NJ, but I think their accent is definitely more Brooklyn than anything NJ. ETA: Sal and Santa bought their house in Colts Neck in November 2006. ETA again: It looks like they bought the house in March of 2000 (built in 1993). There was a deed transfer (for a $1) into just Sal's name in November 2006. One more edit: There's a long history of deed transfers and mortgages on that house. Actually, Teresa bought it in 2000 in her name only. According to her bio at Bravo's website, that would be about the time she was divorced from Rino (the bio says they spent eleven years apart and then remarried on New Year's Eve 2010). Then, in 2006, she added her father to the deed. It's long and convoluted, with mortgages along the way, including a 2012 second mortgage taken out by Sal and Santa for over $660,000.
  3. I'm very familiar with an area about 45 miles west of NYC and no one I know there sounds like these people. I think there's a huge difference between the twins' NY accent and the people that I know in NJ.
  4. I hate these people for making me want to see them lose those undeserved houses and the easy TLC money, but at the same time feeling bad for the kids having their lives all effed up again.
  5. I don't really give a crap about the five adults, but I have to say I feel bad for the kids if they're going to lose the houses and go back to Utah. I didn't watch the show back then, only coming in when they were building the McMansions, but I can see how all the kids have adjusted and seem to be doing well. They all seem to have made friends at school and It looks like they enjoy living in the cul-de-sac together. Now, I realize that no kid needs to be living in a McMansion, but I do think these kids are better off where they are, Vegas, and in the separate houses but near each other. The five adults have basically said the same thing many times, that all the kids have adjusted and are doing well in Vegas. So, if they know this is the best situation for the kids, then why aren't they doing everything they can to keep it that way?? I think they SUCK as parents if they're willing to lose the houses and make the kids move out of state again. They've already disrupted their lives enough. My gawd, why don't all five of these lazy asses go and get jobs to ensure they can keep this current set-up for the kids?
  6. I remain amazed, (and disgusted), that appearing on one reality show (The Apprentice, 2004) means someone never has to work a real job again.
  7. Yeah, I totally recommend those measuring spoons. I just checked my Amazon account and they were $10.54 when I ordered them a couple of years ago, but I'd still say they're worth the current price of $14.88, (free shipping with Amazon Prime). They make a great little gift, like a Christmas stocking stuffer, or to put with a gift of a cookbook, or with a wedding shower gift. @Bastet, I haven't noticed any accuracy issues, but I haven't really done anything to confirm that. Maybe I'll try comparing them to some other sets of measuring spoons I have floating around in my big ol' drawer of cooking utensils. I'll let you know. @aquarian1, those little beakers are very cool. I was just going to post about a similar item that I like, this Anchor Hocking 5-Ounce Measuring Glass. Super cheap on Amazon (free shipping as an add-on item), but my mother also found it at Walmart, (for $1.50, I think). It's a quick and easy way to measure teaspoons and tablespoons of liquids. As far as the reviews complaining about red lines rubbing off, I wash it out by hand and have no problems with it. I think I need that brown sugar saver. I just used my brown sugar earlier today for the dressing for that Asian slaw recipe that I posted above. As usual, my brown sugar was a hard rock. I broke off a piece and then microwaved it for ten seconds to soften it. I also am a big fan of parchment paper and my pyrex glass baking dishes. I use them all the time. I have my pork chops marinating in one now, because I can't stand marinating in plastic bags.
  8. This is a basic, very simple item, but I love my set of Progressive International Stainless-Steel Magnetic Measuring Spoons. It's the best set I've ever had, and I've given a set to my mother, mother-in-law, and friends, who all love them too. The fact that they nest inside each other and are magnetic is great. They stick together, nothing gets lost in the drawer, and they're not attached on some ring, which I hate dealing with. I also like that they have two sides, rounded and more narrow. The narrow end can fit in a spice jar, and it's nice having two ends in case you're measuring two different things with the same spoon, such as needing one tablespoon of a dry ingredient and one tablespoon of a liquid ingredient. No need to rinse it out or anything; just use one end for each ingredient. Also, you can set the spoons down flat on the counter. They say they're dishwasher safe, but I always hand wash them. I've had for them for more than a couple of years and use them often, and they're holding up well.
  9. Speaking of Ambah, that reminds me of the obnoxious dipshit twins' accent. There's no way that's a NJ accent. They definitely have a New Yawk accent. They're so annoying. And boring as hell.
  10. Tonight I 'm making Asian Grilled Pork Chops, paired with Awesome Asian Slaw. I've made both several times and I've changed both recipes a bit. For the pork chops, I like to use bone-in because they're juicer. As far as the marinade, I add more garlic, (about 3 or 4 cloves), because we love garlic. I also use fresh grated ginger, (one teaspoon), and I add some sliced green onions. And because we like a little heat, I add 1/4 teaspoon chili oil to the marinade. For the slaw, I no longer bother with chopping the carrots, peppers, and cabbage. That shit takes forever, so I just use the bagged cole slaw now. Also, I use crunchy peanut butter because I like the texture of the crushed peanuts in the slaw. I add some more flavor and a bit of heat by cutting the the canola oil in half and using one tablespoon of sesame oil and a teaspoon of chili oil. I'm going to make the pork chop marinade soon and let the chops marinate in the fridge all day. Then, I'll make the dressing for the slaw and refrigerate it all day. I'll mix it up with the cole slaw about a half hour to an hour before we're ready to eat. Doing it any sooner makes it too soggy. I'm going to do all the work soon and then dinner time will be easy, especially since I'll have my husband throw the pork chops on the grill.

  12. I was curious, so I checked out Tarek and Christina's Facebook page for the show. On July 8th, which is the last new episode my DVR picked up, they posted that it was the season finale (and they were doing a live Twitter chat during the show). Also, this post on July 7th. In another post, and in some comments on some other posts, they said there won't be any new shows until October. There was a post on July 14th with a photo saying they were shooting Season 4, episode 1, day 1 (in Anaheim Hills). On July 18th, they posted that they just wrapped Season 3, (episode 11). So, it seems that the show is doing well, although that survey info posted by @MrMattyMatt is very interesting (thanks for posting it!). Also, ratings seem to be good: On July 1st, they posted this: Then, on July 22nd they posted this: By the way, on July 18th they posted a link to a Los Angeles Times article about HGTV: Also, in case anyone is interested, they have another Facebook page with their real estate listings. Okay, so did I break the record for most links ever included in a PTV post? Is there a prize or something? ;-)
  13. I didn't see the print ad, but I recently saw the latest commercial. I think it's their second one: http://www.ispot.tv/ad/7RNC/ashley-furniture-homestore-sale-ft-giuliana-and-bill-rancic I posted the first commercial a couple of weeks ago in the Small Talk thread.
  14. Meghan McCain is so full of it. She guest hosted Access Hollywood Live with Billy Bush last Friday and on Friday evening's episode of Access Hollywood they showed a clip of Billy asking her about The View. She said there was "internet speculation" about whether she was joining the show, but she didn't directly answer his question as to whether she was in talks with the show. Like I said a few days ago, I think she's trying very hard to put it out there that she's in the running for a co-host spot when she clearly is not. I just searched for it and found the full episode of Access Hollywood Live and I see there was a lot more than the few seconds they showed on Access Hollywood that night. They showed a clip of Meghan on The View, also a clip of the infamous Rosie/EH split screen, and Meghan sort of bashes EH. The most interesting part, though, is how Meghan answers Billy's questions about joinng The View and how she bullshits her way around answering directly, trying to give the impression she's in talks for the spot. They tease it for the first minute and a half in the show opening, and then skip to 36:30 for that segment: http://www.accesshollywood.com/access-hollywood-live-july-25-2014_video_2271637
  15. Thanks for the info that a new episode airs on Friday night. Also, if anyone is interested in catching episodes they've missed, I see that HGTV is running a Love it or List it, Too marathon that day starting at 1 pm.
  16. If you have Amazon Prime, that episode is included in Season 1, which is the only season they have available.
  17. By the way, did anyone notice the part where Kody said they've been very busy with the business lately? I don't remember the exact words and I've already deleted it. I think it was near the beginning of the episode. It gave me a good laugh.
  18. The only new and interesting bit of information in this episode was that they still haven't seen a penny from the investment firm. Yes, we all figured that much, but it was nice to get confirmation. Then again, I'm leaning toward thinking that the entire business presentation and pitch to investors was complete bullcrap. It was most likely a fake storyline because there's clearly nothing interesting going on with these five unemployed, lazy, entitled morons.
  19. The weave isn't part of her wig line. Sherri and her hairstylist at The View recently tweeted about the Peruvian hair weave, plugging the company of course. Just another paid tweet. I think one of the trends in wedding dresses lately is not stark white, even for first time brides. Blush colors seem to be popular. I couldn't care less about Jenny's upcoming wedding. I still can't even see the two of them as a good fit as a couple. It will be interesting to see if they even make it as long as Sherri and Sal did. And, let's hope they don't bring another baby into the mess. Although, I could see Jenny doing that as a way to further her career "as a mom". More books to come? Also, it would increase her financial benefits from the marriage. I know very little about him, but I assume he's got a good amount of money.
  20. And with all that luck, I keep seeing Sherri lapping up the fan tweets as if she's some poor divorced mother who lost her job and is really screwed. She needs their "support" and prayers, how laughable. She's "in tears" when fans tell her that her "God given talents" will land her another (highly lucrative) gig soon.
  21. @DownTheShore, I totally agree. It's very condescending, and I also thought it doesn't even make sense since it's mostly basic popular pasta types. Even my kid doesn't have a problem with those. What makes even less sense is to provide the phonetic spelling for those basic types of pasta while there are several other dishes on the menu that might present pronunciation issues. I'm not saying they should provide the phonetic spelling for any dishes at all, but it's interesting that she does it for rather easy dishes and not for some possibly more difficult ones. Check out the full menu on that Eater link I posted above and you'll see what I mean. Some of the other dishes could be more difficult to pronounce for some people. Some examples: Pasta e Fagioli focaccia Veal chop saltimbocca style Prosciutto San Daniele buttery, salty & sweet, pork Finocchiona fennel, pork
  22. It looks like as a parting gift after firing her, The View is letting Sherri pimp her wig line. Kind of odd to do it now that she is no longer sporting the wigs and has a weave. But, hey, it's just like this show to not make any sense or do anything right.
  23. Good points, @backformore . I think there were several people here and on TWoP who predicted that Sherri wouldn't keep it off for long. Come to think of it, this has to be at least the third or fourth time she's lost a good bit of weight but gained it back shortly thereafter. A few months ago when we were discussing her varying accounts of just how many pounds she lost, I did a Google search and found a ton of articles from over the years touting some new big weight loss of hers. It's almost part of her shtick at this point, given the fact that it's garnered her many articles over the years, plus the book.
  24. I've only seen clips of her show with Jennie Garth and it looks embarrassingly awful. ETA: http://hollywoodlife.com/2014/07/25/jennie-garth-defends-tori-spelling-ian-ziering-true-tori-train-wreck-diss/
