  1. They started out at the frat party but it was too loud and messy for Trina ( as @dubbel zout asked, what did she expect from a frat party?) so they headed to the gallery for some quiet. Joss and Dex were just about to arrive at the party when the police got there first. You missed nothing.
  2. They were. Even when the rumours about them fighting were rife, they still had amazing chemistry on screen. That's what it seemed like to me. The ridiculous reason for keeping Castle and Beckett apart in season 8 and Castle desperate to win Beckett's love back which made her seem like a witch (why didn't she just explain to Castle why she was keeping her distance?); Jon Huertas and Seamus Dever publicly thanking Fillion for fighting to keep them on the show while Stana Katic and Tamala Jones were being dropped. The reasoning that the decisions were being made for cost cutting made even less sense when you consider that they were going to keep the new character of Hayley. (Nothing against the actress but they might as well have put in a cardboard cutout for all the interest the character brought. She was basically just a prop for Castle to run his own PI agency.) Season 8 is the season I try to wipe from my mind. They took away the initial premise of the show, which is that Beckett was the smart tough cop and Castle the fanciful writer who solved the cases by imagining a story around the facts, and isolate Becket while turning Castle into a PI with Hayley and Alexis as his sidekicks. Alexis crossed the line from cute precocious kid to a Mary Sue, one episode taking over the ESL class (which you need specialized training for) and the next being a computer hacking wiz. The relationship between Hayley and Alexis also made me somewhat uncomfortable, why would a 40 year old former spy spend all her free time with a 21 year old? Alexi Hawley and Terrence Winters were the show runners for season 8. They had been with the show since the first season I think but when I watch their early episodes, even back then they seemed to be just following the signposts and missing the heart of the show.
  3. So the Corinthos Jr. family dress as Star Wars characters Michael as Darth Vader and Wllow and Wylie as his children Leah and Luke. And now I've squicked myself out. Carly closed her restaurant to have a family party? It would have been nice if the kids had been able to invite a friend or two as well. Blech as Willow tells Carly what a wonderful father Michael is even as he is trying to sabotage Nina's relationship with Wylie. Wylie: "If you have any trouble with outlaws, I'm here to help." {Wylie, I guess you're too young to realize that Luke was the outlaw.) Meanwhile, the older kids are Jake, Charlotte, Danny and Georgie. Younger kids at Carly's are Donna, Avery, Scout, Wylie, James and Aiden. Aiden is old enough that he should be with the teen group since he's in the same grade as Charlotte but still, it's nice placing of the two groups of kids. Why are they taking Ace Trick or Treating? He's too young for candy and probably going to get scared from all the strangers. Why is Valentin driving around 15 year old Charlotte and her older friends? Last week he was worrying that she uber'e back from camp to torch Anna's house. But all those flowers, like up on the counter! And today they had been replaced by pumpkins. So many pumpkins I thought "Poor Scout. Your daddy doesn't remember that you exist when Carly is in the same room." Isn't Trina in third year? What has she been doing all this time? When he started pulling at his hair, fictional warning bells went off in my head. It's a juicy role and I hope that MB's son can carry it off. Not looking forward at all to Saviour Joss. Is this a way to show how perfect she will be as a doctor? Because she needs to lose the judgement first.
  4. Laura probably told him. But should he since he's treating her and needs to keep her secrets? I'd say yes since she's only 15, and also yes because as Ryan put in his notes, she's learned to hide herself and only show people what she wants to show them. For trashing Anna's hotel room, I don't think that Valentin believes that burning the house was Charlotte. The excuse to Charlotte was "you've had a difficult year". And of course right now Charlotte will do anything that Valentin wants. In public that is. So she doesn't sell Wyndermere to someone else.
  5. I assumed that it is Nicholas but Cyrus would be an interesting twist. Kevin treating his step-grandaughter who occasionally lives in his apartment is so wrong ethically.
  6. This is Annika's type of humour, not standup comedy.
  7. Why is Sonny showing Lois pictures of his grandchildren Wylie and Amelia and explaing who they are as if she doesn't know them? They live on the same property. The foursome renovation "flirting" was painful. I have zero fix-it skills and even I have a stud finder in my toolbox. Ava girl, buy a clue.
  8. They're going to animate segmengts? The whole joy of the show was the Muppets. This feels like a justification for cost-cutting rather than coming from a new creative vision.
  9. I find Michael's dilemma interesting -- he probably wants to Morgan that he is her father right away but she hasn't asked and he has to respect that. I don't know if the MHU is now or not (couldn't find the information) but we do know that Annika and Michael worked together before. And since Michael asked when she thought it happened, it was more than a one night stand. Ukweli Roach, who played Tyrone, is moving to the BBC series Wolf. to play the lead Dr. Jack McCaffery, in a sense moving to another unit to head it up. He also played the FBI psychiatrist in Blindspot. If anyone feels like baking, krydderkake recipe.
  10. The show touched on this a bit with Cyrus' mother rejecting him completely I think because she blamed him for his father's death, and throwing him out when he was a teenager. More excusable than Sonny's claustrophobia and more to mine in terms of story.
  11. Although similar to Joss making notes in handwriting, you understand and retain more from a printed page than from a digital one.
  12. I am loving all the maple syrup talk. I found a really great syrup at my local farmers market and bottle of that is what I'm giving people for Christmas. LW saying that if the situation was reversed, Carly would have reported it immediately makes me like her more. I wish more of her fans would feel that way. As much as I would like to see that, I don't think that Frank would allow it even with the scab writers. Carly and her kids have a strong following.
  13. Annika and Michael were both working on the Marine Homicide Unit when they had their hook-up. Annika left to work elsewhere and came back to head MHU. In the first episode of the show she said that it could be uncomfortable working with Michae since he also applied for that job and thought that he had more right to it as he had never left while she did. She couldn't have been 15 because she was already a working copper.
  14. Episode 4x4 "Decisions" Devi selects who gets the fellowship and it's a credit to how much the show has pulled me in that I was upset about it through the rest of the episode. Mark Novak loses it on an incompetent and entitled first year resident and i wanted to cheer. A newcomer patient has no one to look after his preschool son while he gets treatment so Bash takes the boy home. Good intentions but could be so much trouble.
  15. With how he treated Kristina, he's next door to one. "though she be but little she is fierce." Although given how smart she is, I'm not sure that Portia is her mom either.
  16. It's the end of October. Why is Finn tapping trees for the sap that they need to get through the winter? Trees get tapped in the spring. Not to mention that you have to boi' down 2/3 of a quart of sap to get one tablespoon of syrup. Those will be watery pancakes the next morning. Colour me shocked that Joss knows the current research on handwritten notes and information retention. Maybe there is hope for her and med school yet. JK is so sinister when Cyrus is being fake religious. Given Spencer's greatuncles Victor and Cyrus, not to mention his father Nik, Trina might want to rethink her relationship with him. Certainly whether she wants to have a child with him. If I were Esme, I would have eavesdropped too. Is today triangle day? Adam is jealous of Dex, Esme admits to developing feelings for Spencer. At least the younger set is getting some action. Yeah, I doubt that Austin will really kill Mason as much as I wish Mason gone.
  17. Joss: "Well that isn't fair." The rallying cry of the Carly's. Finn/ME got his hair cut but I have trouble telling the difference. Curtis' shooting made him need glasses? Portia is worried about Trina's safety. Did she forget that Trina is dating Cyrus' grandnephew? Portia is such a Carly. She wants to get the doctor's license revoked who testified that Cyrus is physically unable to beat up someone else. That's not a lie, Cyrus can't do it himself. But as a mob boss he can get others to do it and that's on the parole board. What would US TV do for dramatic plots if the country had single payer health care like the rest of the world? Starting nurse Willow can just take off any weekend she wants? Nice work if you can get it. IMO, dipping fries into your milkshake just ruins both the fries and the milkshake. And yet, Michael and Willow sharing a double straw milkshake like a teenage couple from a 1940s movie seems on point for them. Carly: "I uncovered proof that Judge Kim was [corrupt]." Something else that just fell into Carly's lap with no effort on her part at all. Now that Michael knows, I really wish that Nina would launch an all-out campaign to get Drew out or at least to a minimum security prison and maybe mitigate the wrath of the Carlys.
  18. Her other siblings are Molly the Harridan and Sam, a former con artist who plays at being a detective. No wonder she sings Michael's praises especially after being told all her life how perfect he is while she is the screwup.
  19. When has Michael ever cared about logic or justice when it came to the Carlys getting what they want? The tongue bath that Brick gave Carly ("You're the only one I'll ever think of as Mrs. Corinthos" when Carly was the one who wanted the divorce and she's moved on the FauxJason now) was also utterly revolting. Hating Nina does the Carlys no favours; they will end up with ugly expressions that not even the Deceptor will be able to help.
  20. One of the reasons I really like this show is the subtle, understated humour. (Another is how the classic references are woven in, from Norse myths to Greek tragedy to Sir Walter Scott when they visit Edinburgh.) I think that Annika is very funny, like telling Blair that she will knit the baby something which is the sort of awkward statement you make when you don't know what to say or telling Michael that the Edinburgh cop is the new DS when he was late in the morning, but it's not the kind of humour that would go over at a comedy club so Michael booking her a spot in the comedy lineup seemed very strange and also a bit passive aggressive.
  21. Today's confrontation between Michael and Nina is not for the faint of heart. Or for anyone with any sense of fairness. Nina got a shot in but of course Michael will in all. Nina: "You're not only trying to control my life, you're trying to control Willow's." Finally someone says it out loud. On the plus side, Liesl is back! and wrecking havoc with Maxie's parenting (although a backwards dinner of dessert first is not a good idea, nor is one of grilled cheese sandwich and sundae, kids should have some vegetables beyond ketchup. (trivia: Canadian ketchup has less sugar than US ketchup.) Trina and Ava had a sweet moment. Oh look, Sasha is visiting Cody. Trying to make him looked bulked up? At least they don't have him in manx. But diverse faces also appeal to a wider audience. As I get older, I am less and less likely to buy cosmetics just because they look good on a young influencer or a woman with a different skin tone. They really should have a great looking older woman (like JE) as one of the faces of the Deceptor.
  22. I could figure out why the woman was rigging her own game either. That says to me that the the mysteries are just the B or c plots and it's all about the psychology gobbledygook. The mob guys were just ridiculous. I ship Marisa with her co-worker. I get the feeling that I'm supposed to be rooting for her and Alec. Someone needs to give the psychology on this show a failing grade. Walking around dressed up and talking to people does not an experiment make (actually it's the opposite). Nor do you switch types of experiments every episode (lego last week, knock off bags this one). And no one I know throws around social psychology terms like codes words to the in crowd. In contrast, the episode of Found that played the next day day did a better job of putting in psychological concepts naturally. "What made you suspect the guard?" "He was guarding his food. You only do that in prison or [something I missed]. "
  23. MS's Nina might have but CW's Nina is not that kind of vindictive, she's more likely to blame herself for what happened to Drew. Whatever Nina has done, it's from a place of loss of her life and family, not vindictiveness and hate. I'm actually hoping that Sonny persuades Nina to use Crimson to help Drew. Maybe that will end this too-long and needless vendetta against Nina. Nina can't get Drew out of prison, he pleaded guilty to the crime and it's only up to a judge now. All the Carlys can do is ruin Nina's life. This would give them great joy but it still wouldn't get Drew out of prison.
  24. JK is just delicious when Cyrus goes all quiet and evil. Great scenes with lollipop boy. How has Laura got to be this old and in this position without knowing that lawyers are not responsible for their clients? And the non-stop Curtis pity party continues. Martin, is threatening what Nina would do is the best you can come up with to threaten Michael? At least half the characters on the show do worse things than she does and do it maliciously rather than from loss as Nina did. But you're right, she could make your life very difficult since you broke lawyer/client confidentiality. If Michael had any brains or subtlety, he would tell Nina that he knows what she did and if she doesn't do what he wants, he's going to spill the beans and her comfortable life will be destroyed. Cyrus could give him a few lessons. The amount of autotuning on Chase is painful. Just end it. Yuri: "I no touch woman. I mean ... like that way," Lois is fun but a little goes a long way.
