  1. Just a reminder: Anything from the source material, in this case the books, is considered a spoiler and should be in spoiler tags. If you're wondering how to do that, at the top of the reply box, there are a number of icons such as bolding, italics, the quote box, and on the middle right, an icon of an eye. That will produce a spoiler box. Anything from the books or what hasn't been broadcast yet should go into that box. Thanls
  2. Could it vary by discipline? In psychology and sociology, undergrads always used "Professor X" but as grad students we only addressed as "Professor X" those profs we didn't know well and/or wanted something from (like access to their class for a research study) and even then when talking amongst ourselves we called them by their first names. Never as "Doctor" unless it was using third person in a clinical setting (e.g. I'm going to ask Dr. X your question).
  3. He thought that he saw Charlotte head that way. Then he would have heard to gunshot and followed it. Laura knew for a few days that Charlotte had trashed Anna's apartment. She had plenty of time to tell Anna that Charlotte was stalking h but chose not to. I doubt that the show will go there, it's not that kind of show, but I'm fascinated fanwanking why Spencer is so obsessed with being responsible for Ace. It's the Cassadines. so many possibilities. Me! Me! Me!
  4. How long was Eddiie/Ned under water? Anna had time to travel to the hospital, be weepy, and talk to Valentin. But at least the Eddie Maine story is wrapped up. Are we taking bets whether he squeals on Nina? I liked the Alexis/Blaze/Kristina convo about how easy it is to be manipulated when you think that's the way it should be. Important stuff. A very satisfactory moment. Between them, Valentin/Nina/Laura really blew it. I'm glad to see everything out in the open at last. But at least they are taking responsibility for their actions. Something Michael and the other Carlys rarely do. Speaking of Laura, it's interesting how many storylines she can fit in naturally: mayor stuff; Charlotte' Spencer/Esme/Ace; brothers Martin and Evil Cyrus; her relationship with Kevin. When the showrunners want it of course. There is no need to make her a wig-on-a-stick. Trina: "You know what the solution if for that." Me: Therapy to talk about this unhealthy obsession. He is approaching Controlling Partner levels re Ace. Today it was Drew's turn to tell Curtis how BraveandStrong he is. An otherwise good episode crashed to a screeching halt every Curtis scene. The writing wasn't so bad but the delivery made me want to smack him.
  5. That's what I thought! If you have an extra ticket, you phone and see if the person is busy, and if they're not and want to go with you, you give them time to change and get dressed (between 1 and 2 hours for me although Kylie's hair would take less time to fix than mine), you don't just show up at the door. And good point about leaving with the tickets. I'll be here at my table for one about disliking the male research assistant Not the actor but the writing makes him unrealistically clueless about research, about teaching, about protocols. Anyone who was accepted by "The Professor" as a research assistant would have done at least one if not more research internships before getting into graduate school. And graduate students call their advisors by their first name, not "the professor" or even "professor Mercer".
  6. I just found out that Sarah Levy is Eugen Levy's daughter. Talk about flying under the radar away from her famous father and brother.
  7. Lacey said that Gabi hasn't been herself the past few months. I assumed that coincides with when Gabi found Sir and put him in the cellar. I know they told us how long ago Gabi's father died but I can't remember it
  8. What I took away/ was that Kidnapped Gabi was desperate to get to back to her father because she though that he wouldn't be able to take care of himself like know to wear gloves in the cold or get snow tires on his car, while Sir kept telling her that her father didn't deserve her and that he, Sir, was her real father. While Gabi was kidnapped, her father started drinking and couldn't stop when she got back, hence her knowledge about addiction and recovery. Because of his drinking, they were at odds with each other when he died of cirrhosis (I think). When he died, Gabi couldn't get there in time to say goodbye which is why she was so desperate to get David there to say goodbye to his mother.
  9. Does Ned have lungs fit for the Guinness Book of Records? He was down in the water for a very long time. So Charlotte is going to lie and try to get Anna in trouble? No surprise there. I hope that Valentin doesn't fall for it although Nina certainly has. Good for Laura telling Spencer that Esme is right to move out with Ace. Now I expect Spencer try to sabotage it. Pleasant filler scenes with Sasha/Maxie/Cody/photographer. She and Michael are so beautifully written as narcissists (Curtis and Portia too). It doesn't matter what they actually did, they and their tribe get all the priase.
  10. i felt sorry for Flashback Gabi, worried about what is going to happen to her father. But damn, giving her the DSM IV to read? What is Sir trying to prove? Give her an abnormal psych book if you want her to understand. I will lose respect for Gabi if she lets Trent take the fall for her taking the USB drive. He is still manipulating her and lying to her, about her father being a deadbet, telling her that she is the one who wanted a friend so he kidnapped Lacey for her (false). I know that the character is played by Gosselar but Sir is still manipulative, lying scum. The actress who plays Lacey is a beautiful woman; why was she wearing a mushroom on her head? Also, will we find out why she changed her name?
  11. Drew has become such scum. "One of the things that kept me going in Pentonville, sometimes the only thing, is knowing that you were out there fighting for me." Sorry Scout, Daddy has left you behind and now relies on Carly. Drew did redeem himself somewhat when he told Michael to drop finding out who told the SEC. Carly won't though. And then there's Michael: "Alexis played her part but my mom, she got the leverage over Judge Kim." Carly: "Someone turned us in to the SEC. I want to know who and why." I can tell you why Carly, because you and your children and acolytes are horrible people. I am in the minority that I didn't mind the Eddie amnesia plot but today completely lost me. What a mess of psychobabble.
  12. I find that the first season of a show is often one of the best (e.g. Castle, Arrow) because everyone is energized and eager, But this show seems like someone wanted a vehicle for JLM, seized on an idea maybe prompted by a combination of Lie To Me, Perception and Bull, and didn't quite think it through. The research assistants are especially bad in terms of plotting. This latest "experiment" makes no sense: setting aside the lack of ethical protocols, sit any intelligent person down and ask them "Why would someone pay too much money for something that is a fake?" and I'm pretty sure the explanation "sentimental value" will come up very soon. On the other hand, it did prompt a discussion in my house of whether you need a control group for an experiment (the answer was 'no'). The will they/won't they with Alec's ex is an overused trope. That's interesting. I wonder where I got the impression that Kylie was just out of college .... maybe the lack of a job or relationship, maybe that she first came out to Marissa since the split between Alec and Marissa seems fairly recent.
  13. Yep, they decided to go slowly, an idiotic decision as they knew that Charlotte had already trashed Anna's hotel room. The backpack makes sense to me, Charlotte said that she brought an extra sweater and maybe they thought that Charlotte was being very optimistic about how much candy she was going to get. Nina was Charlotte's stepmother and much closer to her than Alexis was. Plus she knew about Charlotte spiraling out of control and helped Valentin by deleting the security tape. If any of the Davis women should have been at the hospital, it's Sam who had Charlotte living with her for a few months. It's a school day too so no excuses about having to take care of the kids.
  14. My takeaways from this episode: The ash in the paintings from the eruption of Krakatoa even as far away as France was fascinating. Dan Arieli, who Alec is based on, is a cognitive psychologist and professor of behavioural economics. He is not a clinical psychologist. And given what Alec was telling the divorced woman about her feelings re her ex, Alec should never be allowed to talk therapy to anyone in trouble. As others have said, Marisa and Alec yearning over her is a dead weight on the show. So are the two research assistants who are very unfunny comic relief. I did. That's how bad those plots are.
  15. Today's was a surprisingly good episode, although Anna seemed too weepy. Sonny bringing up when he shot Dante made sense I liked Kevin talking about how broken Charlotte is emotionally. So were Anna's keys listed on the items in Charlotte's backpack? I liked Alexis' dilemma about whether she should publish the story or not. Too many decisions like that seem to be on the spur of the moment rather than looking at the complexities behind the incident. I like Robert supporting Anna's position. I did not like Nina telling Valentin that he shouldn't carry the guilt all by himself. Because he should carry most of it. I complain about this show a lot but Jordan saying that the should bring in an outside investigator on air right after Days of Our Lives where the police commissioner interrogates his murder suspect sister with no one else in the room, and the DA prosecuting is the man currently in a business fight with her makes GH look brilliant. CM/Drew is sooo much better in scenes with Sam than with Carly. Carly just seems to draw all the brain cells out of her men. Drew asking if Danny was seeing a therapist -- anyone close to Sonny should have a therapist on retainer long ago. Drew to Scout: "I thought about you every single day." Unspoken: when I wan'ts thinking about Carly so maybe 4 minutes a day. I don't care about Curtis and his emo stuff. I DON'T CARE.
  16. Or the freezer was used to freeze Rowan (?) instead of the ice for the sculpture. Since they were always freezing and moving giant blocks of ice, the husband must has had some mechanical means to lift them.
  17. Given Sam's love of toffees, I wonder if they're checking his candy to snatch the best ones first. As much as I didn't like Jason, Danny feeling responsible for not making Charlotte behave and Sam saying that he's just like his father was nice continuity. I wonder if Danny is aware that Charlotte is related not just to Rocco but to him and Scout as well.
  18. So Drew saved Willow's life, and Carly got Drew out of prison. #CarlysLogic Drew remembered Scout! I'm shocked. I'm glad that the infectious disease genius isn't the one to treat Charlotte's gun shot wound. Valentine to Jake: "It wasn't your fault." Me: It was your's Valentine. You should have told Anna that Charlotte trashed her hotel room. They really were. I like it/ when people treat Esme for who she is right now and not what she did in the past. Why is Esme supporting Ace on her salary? What about the millions that is the Cassadine estate, Ace should be getting enough from that to support him as the next Cassadine heir. No, you're right. I assumed that the officers took her to the hospital at her request although why they would I have no idea. Fingers crossed. 🤞 Unfortunately Nina will get blamed for it if he dies. This Drew is such a waste of space. And Carly's vanilla milkshakes are the very best thing ever. Hey Drewfus, how about phoning the mother of your child to tell her that you're out so she can tell Scout before you go off to bang all night. Aiden is the same age as Charlotte so Jake has to be at least 17. I wonder if the show will have him thinking about college or isn't he important enough?
  19. Episode 2.4 Harper: "I transferred from Edinburgh to join your team; weren't you told?" Michael: "Annika likes to wait a few years before she tells me the big stuff." 😆 Harper: "I had a marine scientist crunch some numbers for us." Annika: "At six o'clock in the morning?" Harper (deadpan): "She has kids. She was up anyway." 😆 Harper: "Mostly like white, male, middle-aged,: Michael: "Where did you get that bit?" Harper: "He's dressed like you." Beyond the homicides, it's a very funny show.
  20. The show needs a way to justify Gabi keeping Sir captive in her basement. Otherwise it makes no sense at all. And even with this, it's a very twisted thing for Gabi to be doing. Exactly. I don't know how the show is going to write their way out of this one unless he is a figment of her imagination. It's not like she actually needs him to solve the cases. Unfortunately, I find the Sir plots both present day and back in time to be the most boring parts of the show. My eyes glaze over when he appears on screen, especially in the past time scenes. Maybe if I knew why he wanted to create a young woman in his image it might help
  21. After reading the comments here, I had high hopes for this episode. MJW and Jesse Martin were both fun. But while the story was good, the social psychology is just as bad as it ever was. You don't just get an idea for an experiment and do it the next day, you have to get approval from the university ethics board and that's going to take a few months and substantial paperwork. Supporting the police is not irrational if you have never been treated unfairly by them, we teach children that if they get into trouble, ask a cop. Joy Reid seems to be making the rounds, a couple of weeks ago she was on Found and now she's here on The Irrational. Are they aging up Kylie to match JLM? There was no way that the actress was in college 20 years ago. It was a highly publicized case, all over the press. If the cops arrested the sister of the expert witness going up against the cops, or even the witness himself, it would look bad for the cops.
  22. Because his decision to merge Aurora with ELQ worked so well? Give it up, Drewfus.
  23. You need to speak to the Canadian Medical Association about that. This is possibly the most realistic scripted medical show on TV and in this they are sticking to the facts. Episode 4x5 "Heart": June's boyfriend from season 1 is back, just in time for her fertility treatments. I missed him, he's a good stabilizing influence on June. Owen, the boy with Sensory Processing Disorder is back too and now he has a diagnosis of mass cell activation syndrome. I'm glad that they are drawing attention to it. It's one of those diseases where even a few years ago patients would have been told that it's all in their heads and they're being a hypochondriac. My station ran an ad for Kids Help Phone right after the scene where Theo gives Owen the number for their line. Nice placement. Theo has learned from his mistakes and carefully informs the patient before he does anything to him. Bash's fugue moments are back. It's hard on him but I'm glad to know that it isn't being swept under the carpet. I'm not surprised that Mags is a super overachiever between her medical problems and her controlling mother. Novak shouldn't have said what he did but from what the older doctors tell me, that's the way that attendings have been treating juniors. What Ryan did could have got the patient killed so his insistence that he be treated with kid gloves seems very arrogant to me.
  24. Shut up Sam, Carly doesn't need even more kissing up. I guess the writers heard how much the viewers hated Molly being such a bitch. Kevin telling Laura his psychological evaluation of Charlotte is why you shouldn't treat friends of family members. Poor Scout and her candy for her father. Drew gets out of jail and he heads straight to Carly. Why is Charlotte reading through Anna's papers? I want Anna to catch her, just to end this storyline. But that's consistent, it's the Carly in him. Willow wanted to know her mother and Carly decided that she didn't need to know. They always decide for other people what's best for them ignoring what the other wants. Let's see if Michael lets Nina go on the trip to Montreal. I don't appreciate the constant teasing of a storyline that I really don't want to see. Nina spent two years apologizing to the Carlys for existing. The last thing I want to see is even more piling up on Nina. Time to pile up on Carly or Michael instead for the things that they actually did. Georgie should have been with the children at Carly's private party and Aiden trick or treating with the teens. An A+. But Harvard is the #1 ranked medical school in the US and Johns Hopkins is #4 (I can't remember what the third acceptable school is) so if It's those three or bust, I feel for Adam. Did his parents go to any of those schools? Because a legacy leg up would help. It does remind me of the old joke though: What do you call the person who came last in his medical school class? A: Doctor.
