  1. Yes, I forgot to comment yesterday that the chemistry between those two was off the charts. Would LOVE it if somehow Stefan decided that Gabi could be useful here and somehow gets her off of these charges. I do NOT want the Gabi apology tour where she needs to weep, grovel, and basically admit she is a horrible person while Chad and Abby get to look like poor innocent victims who would NEVER, EVER, EVER IN THE WHOLE WORLD be mean to anyone or self-centered enough to make sure your wife stays out of jail while letting an innocent person get beat while rotting in jail. I was a little disappointed in the whole "mysterious woman with a cloak" thing. I kept wondering if this is going to be the new New Year's Eve trope. Someone comes to the party covered in a cloak - who could it be? And don't you know, they are assuming Nicole is dead - that makes her a saint! On a completely shallow note - Haley is very tiny. Did they really need to cram her in a dress that was so tight the back bunched up because it didn't fit over her hips? Was it supposed to be for one of the children and they decided to use it on her because the scene was cut?
  2. So, Julie can have some sympathy for Stefan but none for Gabi? Even judgy Jennifer said that Gabi had done some redeeming things and doesn't seem too overly vindictive toward her. I LOVED Gabi bringing up that basically all Abigail got was a tune-up from Grandma. And why didn't she bring up that Chad would not LET Abigail take responsibility for her actions. If they had let her take responsibility earlier, Gabi would not still have been in jail to get beaten so it is pretty much Chad's fault as much as Abigail's and Stephen's that Gabi has lasting damage. (I don't really believe they'll let this stick - it will be like Mimi's "miracle" baby and Gabi will at some point get "magically" pregnant.) And somehow, Chad can forgive himself for stabbing his best friend (Sonny) in the back but Gabi is the evilest of evils because she didn't care about her friend's pain. I hated that they had Gabi begging for mercy and Abby being the one to grant it - really got under my skin. I agree with this. Maybe because I really hated the whole Abby story (and it was hanging over everything) I felt like the whole Christmas episodes were really flat this year. If we were supposed to be getting the feelz because Abby and Chad were bonding as a family I totally didn't. I don't care about either one of those two sanctimonious characters. The only really redeeming thing was Kayla getting a call from Steve.
  3. I agree with other posters that at least part of today was tolerable. Gaby, Claire and Ciara were all acting like actual humans (both good and bad) today. Maybe it's because I'm sort of bored with the show lately (for all the drama with Julie, you KNOW they aren't going to kill her off) that I'm feeling really critical of some of the plots/characters. Are we supposed to actually like Sara? I think she's supposed to come off as somewhat rash and impulsive but basically good hearted, right? Well after today, I'm really starting to dislike her. She has been back in town approximately 20 minutes and already knows what is the "right" thing to do for Holly. She doesn't really know any of the people involved - she's relying on gossip and hearsay. She wasn't there but feels free to throw things in Cloe's face. If she was so damn close with her "brother" why was there NEVER any mention of the two of them even being introduced? And are they really going to try to turn Eric in to the new Daniel? He's so wonderful, such a good guy, etc. Yes, Brady is an asshole, rage-aholic, but he isn't totally wrong about Eric. Because Eric "had" Nicole first he had a right to cheat with her behind Brady's back? He has never really acknowledged that he was acting like a complete jack-ass also. Neither one comes off as very decent at this point. Also, couldn't it be interpreted that when Nicole told Eric to "take care of Holly" she meant right then, at that moment? Wasn't Holly with some random stranger at that point? Also, take care of her is NOT the same thing as completely raise her. Maybe it's just my own boredom but I REALLY am not looking forward to another custody battle for another child we will actually only see once every 3 months if that. Then the kid will be with anyone willing to take it while the custodial parent (who, of course insists the kid, is indeed the most important thing in his/her life) spends a grand total of 20 minutes a week with the kid reading it bedtime stories.
  4. After watching this episode I really don't believe Steven is "trying to steal the baby" from Olga. I truly think he believes he is being responsible by trying to give them options. Maybe he thinks it will make it easier to bring Olga if the baby is in the US as a citizen. I'm really surprised that everyone here was completely sensible at age 20 - no one every came up with pie-in-the-sky solutions for a problem that were in reality completely off base. He's 20 and trying to deal with bureaucracy that neither of them really understand. They NEVER show him trying to sneak around to get a passport for the baby behind her back and even show previews of him discussing this plan with Olga. These are not the actions of a man trying to steal a baby. The perfectly sums up Larissa - she wants what she wants when she wants it. She has no sense of reality when it comes to finances. However, none of her failings justify Colt simply sitting there while his cousin called her a bitch. I understand his point that another person joining in with yelling and screaming was not going do be productive but he made absolutely NO effort to diffuse the situation. He could have tried to separate them until they calmed down rather that simply sit there like a lump.
  5. OK, I've been out of the loop and just now got caught up - sorry if I'm kicking the already dead horse. I really think a lot of the Steven & Olga stuff is producer editing or somehow manipulation. I think they are playing off the fact that neither one really knows what they are doing - Olga naturally has a lot of apprehension about doing the right thing and we aren't seeing where she might be acting slightly over the top. I'm not saying she's wrong or bad just really high strung about it. When they were in the hospital and Olga kept telling Steven to wash his hands and he kept saying he already had - I kept flashing back to that diaper commercial. The one where the mother practically makes the little girl take a Silkwood shower before touching the first baby but is handing the second off to anyone who'll hold it. Do parents REALLY wash their hands every time they pick up their child? I do not have children - but I have never had anyone tell me to wash my hands before touching their baby. Unless it has a very compromised immune system most babies are fine - it's not like Steven just came in from cleaning the pig sty. Why would he randomly be saying "You aren't going to tell me I can't touch my baby" if somehow the conversation (which we never saw) hadn't happened. He has just as much right to touch the baby as she does. I think this was somehow edited or manipulated. I really think a lot of his frustration is feeling like he can NEVER do anything right. Olga could not figure out the car seat - he thought he would be able to and couldn't figure it out either - he was frustrated. He was really trying to do something nice and "failing". I think that's why he sounded short about "is this the right medication?" He was expecting to be told that somehow he hadn't done that right either. I really think Olga is trying her best but because he is not automatically doing everything the way she wants he is feeling like he is being told he is inadequate. I'm not saying he is any kind of a saint but I really think we are being manipulated to think only one thing. I also think the Ashley and Jay thing is also a set up. I don't know by whom but it just strikes me as really fake. No one knew who these people were several months ago. Does anyone REALLY troll random wedding sites and discover the couple are interracial so they can then make racist comments? Who except their friends and families would have even known they had a website? Who would let random strangers know all their details and allow them to comment? I thought everybody knew that you don't make certain things public for safety reasons (like posting publicly you are on vacation now so random strangers can come rob your house.) I am old, and do not do social media but even I know you can limit who sees your info.
  6. IF he makes the 55K people are speculating here (I know, big IF) that is a decent salary for small town Wisconsin. He can definitely afford a decent apartment - even with paying child support. I suspect (even though I have no proof) that he was making his daughter pay half the rent because he is one of those people who believes that once you turn 18 you are an adult and you should not get any more parental support - therefore, if you live here, you pay half the rent.
  7. This is a decent salary for small town Wisconsin. Not saying he's rich (he is paying child support - but only for one child) but he is not exactly living in poverty. I could be VERY wrong, but I suspect he doesn't actually "need" the rent money from his daughter. He strikes me as one of those who feels that once his kids are 18 and out of high school they are adults. No more parental support. Therefore, if you live with me, you pay rent like anyone else would. As I said, I could be wrong, but to simply tell your kid to move out implies a bit of "you're on your own."
  8. Can't really argue with that.
  9. I think part of the problem is WE already know how Eric lives so, of course, we KNOW he has no class. Not trying to make this go on forever, but Reading Terminal is NOT a typical food court. He would have had to remember to ask the vendor for plates, napkins, etc. I really thought he asked the vendor to cut the cheesesteak in to smaller parts so they could each have a part - you can't really cut a cheesesteak up with one of those little plastic knives - you need a big one. I'm NOT saying this was an appropriate meal for 4 people or that Eric served it with any degree of finesse - I AM saying it's possible they were trying small quantities of various things to see what they would like and TLC simply chose not to show it. If one cheese steak is ALL they were offered there really is no excuse!
  10. OK - this is a bit of a rant. We (on the board) ALWAYS criticize the American for not eating whatever they are given in the foreign country - even when they are CLEARLY being trolled. Snails, you don't know how to even cook? Cow foot? Balut - that I didn't see Hazel happily chomping down? Chicken feet? I'm not saying it's wrong to criticize them BUT - when the foreign person arrives in this country and they are offered something the American clearly eats - breakfast burrito, cheesesteak, beef stew - somehow it is OK for the foreign person to turn up their nose. Leida wasn't going to like ANY food offered by Eric while little Aless was happily trying anything new offered to him. I'm not saying the person should simply eat anything awful forever, but Colt and Debbie clearly were not trying to troll Larissa with the food - Debbie even told her she could have something else if she didn't like stew. Yes, Eric did not present the cheesesteak with any finesse but it wasn't like he was going out of his way to find something he personally thought was disgusting. Even though the American is not offering something we may feel is appropriate - I truly believe they are trying to do their best.
  11. You never loved me! You ruin everything! I get it, as I said, I appreciate plates. But given that he's also a tourist he might not know what items are "Philadelphian" as the place is huge. And, I could be misremembering but I think it is not laid out with all the prepared food vendors all together. I'm VERY annoyed that I felt the need to defend him on any level (because on MANY other things he is really indefensible) but he is dealing with a woman who wanted chicken porridge? for breakfast. Miss "Put it in Proper" could very well have been of no help in the food selection.
  12. If it's this bad when most people are trying to make a good impression, I shudder to think about what will follow Hi All, I'm late to the party. I can't BELIEVE I'm going to actually defend Eric but here goes. If you are uncertain if people will like a specific food buying a small amount to taste first is a very sensible idea (also, they are in Reading Terminal Market - you could probably gain 50 pounds eating your way around the place.) So it's possible they bought more food later but it wasn't shown. He did ask the person making the sandwich to cut it into 4 pieces so they weren't ripping it apart with their hands - they usually only cut it down the middle and I noticed the extra knife cuts - even if I couldn't swear they were on the bias. And while I can indeed appreciate the plates, - I who - like Jesse actually eats pizza with a knife and fork - have never once used silverware on a cheesesteak. Every person I've ever seen eat it, simply picks it up with their hands and eats it.
  13. I remember years ago when they first introduced Eric. He was trying to be some junior cop wanna-be and spent all his time trailing after Roman. It seemed like every other line out of his mouth started with "Well, my dad says....." I didn't like his character at all. I actually cheered when Nicole dumped him and married Lucas for money. So while GV definitely brings something very different to the role I've always had a really hard time thinking of them as each other's "GREAT LOVE".
  14. I have a cat - her name is Daphne - hence my name. I'm creative that way :)
  15. Yes, in some cultures having a fat wife is a sign that you are a good provider. If someone says you look fat it means that you look good - prosperous.
  16. Former Cheesehead here (although my husband tells me that being a cheesehead is something you never lose) and the one thing I really miss from Wisconsin (apart from great cheese curds) is the Friday fish fry. I was really disappointed that other places don't have it. As for the ice fishing - just tell him that you will meet him after at the bar. Trust me, the biggest thing about ice fishing is going to the bar after.
  17. My impression was, he originally purchased her a ticket but she couldn't take that flight as her visa had not arrived. Rather than change the ticket to a day or two later and take the chance that her visa might not arrive in time again - necessitating a second flight change (thus incurring a second change fee) he chose to change it to two weeks out on the assumption that that was enough time for her visa to arrive. Once she got her visa, she expected him to change it so she could fly immediately. I believe he thought this was an extravagance after having already paid one change fee and refused to do it.
  18. This is also a MAJOR pet peeve of mine - glad I'm not the only one who is wondering if any of these people even passed the fourth grade!
  19. People on reality shows almost always think saying I is "classier" or more grammatical than saying me. Most of the time they are wrong. The worst example of this, however, is the completely wrong use of myself - very prevalent in talking heads. "As for myself...."
  20. This is something that has been bugging me all season. The placement of the buttons indicate that this is a man's garment. I would say she is simply wearing one of his shirts as a dress but I don't know where she would have gotten the belt. It appeared that she was wearing his mesh shirt as a swimsuit cover-up. I really think she has a very limited wardrobe and the plaid was his.
  21. Please, one of the men Paul was getting upset about was gay. Talking to the opposite sex is fine - Paul is just psycho.
  22. Cold shoulder shirts, a Lord's prayer purse, either really dark or bleached/fried hair, and LOTS of make-up (or no make-up and eye-boogers) expected.
  23. Topics are the episodes, each couple, general media info, and one where people comment in real time while watching the show. They seem disorganized because whatever episode has the latest post moves to the top of the queue. They do not stay in any particular order so you just post whatever you want in either the relevant episode thread or the couple thread. I'm a long time lurker, fairly recent poster and we welcome snark!
  24. Slightly off topic (been away - caught up now) but doesn't it seem as if the writers are really making an effort to clean up all the dangling threads? First they had Ted come in and either reveal secrets or set it up so that they had to come out (Brady, Eric, Deimos, Eve, etc). Just recently, they either have dealt with or are dealing with Theresa, Nicole, Bonnie, Hattie, Sheila, EJ, Xander and a bunch of plot points that were just left dangling before. I'm still waiting for them to show us what is the deal with Vivian since they also used the Death-B-Gone serum on her. I'm also guessing the whole thing with Leo will have to resurface at some point as there is a body out there somewhere still wrapped up in Maggie's rug. Can anyone else remember anything else that hasn't been dealt with? Do you think they are really just going to only deal with current plots and let the past stay buried? Not even a little related to above, but I was actually impressed that they had Hope apologize to Sami for being such a bitch. It's too bad that they'll have to make Sami be the bigger person as I would dearly have loved to see her slap Belle for her obnoxious behavior.
  25. OK, I'll play. In addition to all the 90DF shows. Love your description suziespend, but you forgot to mention how exciting it is when someone meets THE LOVE OF THEIR LIFE!!! I have to admit I watched Sister wives on TLC. Love the fact that clearly miserable people all talk about how wonderful their lifestyle is. On Lifetime, I watch Married at First Sight. This is roughly like the old computer dating of my youth (where people would fill out questionnaires and the computer would match you with dates) but they are LEGALLY MARRIED (tm mafs), Don't know how I got the spoiler tag and don't know how to get rid of it - sorry.
