  1. Since Jack is doing all this stuff that they seem to feel is out of character and orchestrated by Eve why is no one doing anything other than trying to appeal to what they think is Jack's better nature? Why isn't Jennifer running editorials about Jack? Why isn't JJ plastering social media with stories about how Jack can't be trusted/is only interested in his own ends - not the good of Salem/ and his own son wouldn't vote for him because he is not honest? His family could go a long way to derail this nonsense (and Eve) but they are all acting like they are helpless.
  2. Hi all, First time commenting in this thread. Apparently the producers either don't know or don't care how annoying it was that they showed 3(4?) people who were not picked and then montaged 2 who were. Even if they wanted to show the auditions of those picked for the last chance thing (totally stupid idea - these people will never win) they still could have shown more of the footage of the two who were picked. On a completely different note, it does seem as if the sob stories have become less "sobby." I always hated it when someone would come on, cry about their dead grandma, grandpa, brother, sister, best friend, dog, cat, hamster etc. and then not get a chair turn. You tried to depress me for THAT! My burnout comes from the fact that very few performances stand out in the blinds. I like that they are starting to show a short clip reminding us what song each person sang in the blinds because I've completely forgotten most of them by the time the battles come on.
  3. Very interesting, thanks for sharing. I had never heard of her or this paradox. It made me think much more than any of the wisdumb we get from Mariah and Janelle. This is exactly why people are taking stupid advice from Janelle. They are looking for the "One Coin" or "Magic Bullet" that will change their life. Janelle (and to some extent Mariah) buy into this mentality and sell it to their followers. Drink Matcha! Drink Sludge Filled Coffee! Eat Flax Seed! Eat This Vegetable! THIS is a ROCKSTAR!!!!! If you only do this one thing you too can be thin! Janelle thinks that she can simply purchase this item at the grocery store (hence the endless quest to find the perfect product.) Mariah thinks she can find the one magic workout that, done consistently, will simply cancel out the 2,000 calorie breakfast.
  4. I don't think it's her privilege showing as much as her pretentions showing. She is not giving bad advice. She is saying "If all you can do right now is walk back and forth in your apartment 20 times then doing that is doing something. No matter how slowly you start, you're still starting and it's better than doing nothing." It's just that it's so hard looking past all the artsy poses and pictures of outrageously priced breakfasts. And raving about soul cycle or some other expensive gym doesn't help. Even while trying to be sympathetic to other by acknowledging that people have different obstacles in their way she's doing it so obnoxiously that she's hiding the actual message. I remember years ago listening to a doctor on talk radio who would talk about getting new patients who were in such terrible shape they could barely last a minute on the treadmill at a normal walking pace. His advice was always you can't change where you are starting from, and you won't get results overnight but you can change and you can get healthier.
  5. You mean you DON'T get paid to conduct your entire life in the office (when you bother to show up, of course?) And, of course, your employer would never mind the major PDA, fights, and endless relationship discussions. Why on earth would they expect you to do the job for which you were hired? But, of course, since the Salem Police force only has one case at a time (and this time they don't even have their own case - it's borrowed) it's only a matter of time before EVERY scene in the police office is Hope and Rafe having fights in front of Ted, Lani, Eli, and any other random day player they make sit at one of the desks (except, of course for Lani and Eli declaring their undying love - again in front of said day player). You'd think they could at least reference crimes in the dialog - even minor ones like property damage or cell phone thefts. And as far as the hypocrisy - this is Salem - you need to show your hypocrisy card at the border - if you can't produce one, you are denied entry. I need to snark on the little stuff because this show is really boring lately. John is crying over Marlena (again) who is in a coma (again) Eric and Brady are trying to act like humans for Marlena's sake (again.) We ALL know that Marlena will come perilously close to death (again) and be miraculously cured at the last second (again!) All we're missing is Belle trying to pull the plug while blaming Sami. And Diana being a cartoon villain is not making this dreck any more believable. Then, we have Eric getting involved with a woman who is involved with his brother (again.) While I hate that they are ret-conning the whole Clair as fire-starter thing, at least this is something we haven't seen lately - A "good" character snapping and doing bad things. Of course (no spoilers here, just speculation) they'll probably explain it away with a brain tumor.
  6. And when does the DA give orders to the cops. This is just example 3,876 of why this storyline STINKS! The ONLY good line was when Eli said, "Yes, Haley might be out taking care of someone." Ted and Jack acting like Haley really should be on the FBI's most wanted list is really idiotic. And do they really label the envelope like that - so any random passerby knows who had a DNA test? Jeez, Shelley is an idiot. Yes, "Here, let me give you the keys to steal ALL the medication in the hospital. I've even told you that you specifically can!"
  7. The moderator will ask some lame softball question, Kody will give some non-answer and the moderator will move on to the next question. They are NEVER asked any real questions on the tell nothing,
  8. Yes, I thought the only reason he is still there is because he was blackmailing them. The blackmail is over so he should be out and broke. So is Victor now just some useless old man who is only good for spouting all the offensive things the writers want somebody to say? Is anyone still supposed to be afraid of him?
  9. I get caring about yourself and wanting to be healthy but those muscles do not look natural.
  10. And HOW does some random nurse know someone's log-in credentials? Off the top of their head? That was just so beyond stupid - even for days! I figured this illegal alien thing would be BAD and it is. Couldn't Days at least have sprung for a random day player to be chasing Haley around town? This hiding from all the local cops - who somehow feel it is their duty to question citizens like it is an actual case (because, you know, Salem only ever has one case going at a time, so the cops don't actually have anything else to do at this point) - not even a vaguely interesting plot.
  11. No no no no no no no! I don’t know what to pick first, but I will go with that he was a married man! I know, polygamy blah blah blah, but that still has to mean something to her AND HIM that you don’t go around falling in love at first sight. And no no no to love at first sight. My husband and I have a sweet and romantic backstory, but I would never call it love at first sight. Calling that love is a disservice to what love is. What happens after the words, “I have cancer” or “I have a secret credit card” or “our child is in the hospital” is love. Working through hard things is love. Finding new ways to connect after the hot and heavy phase is love. Love at first sight is not love. I agree with you about the love at first sight thing. Of course, the only time I ever inspired love at first sight was in a rather "directionally challenged" homing pigeon that was literally standing on our front step. (He never left!) Maybe I'm just jealous?
  12. This. I think one of the reasons that I'm so not in to the Diana/Marlena, Eve/Jennifer thing is because I am just SO sick of people (women especially) plotting revenge/doing evil machinations on someone over some lover. Diana is after John, Eve is plotting revenge because she lost Brady (and getting to fight over Jack in the process). Claire is convinced she has to get rid of Ciara (and now Haley) because otherwise she will never get a man (Theo, Tripp, any other random man on the street, etc.) Brady was an asshole to Nicole but it was more about his ego than Eric. He wasn't trying to get Nicole back, he was just being himself. Leo is really more in to the life style/money than Sonny so even that just comes across as Sonny's there, not that he really wants Sonny. I'm just so sick of women constantly degrading themselves by plotting/scheming to get a man who doesn't want them in the first place. We KNOW they will always end up with their "true love", "love of their life" etc. ad nauseum.
  13. Hi all, Long time lurker, first time posting in this thread. Remember last time when Kody was apprehensive about Mariah marrying the first woman she had ever had a relationship with? Then, why do they think it's charming that TWO of their daughters married men they developed crushes on at a very young age. Maddie couldn't have been much more than 16 when she met Caleb and I'm too lazy to go back and look but didn't Aspyn say she had a crush on Mitch at age 13? I know I certainly made VERY wise life decisions at 13 or even 16 - what better time to pick a spouse! And particularly because you like the way they look!
  14. I was actually totally thinking of Anne, she and Gabi working together would be super fun! Yes, I always loved how Anne always had everybody's number - she KNEW that none of the Horton women actually ever showed up at their jobs. The fact that she hated Melanie was just bonus for me. Unfortunately, her character was used as everyone's punching bag. I hated Serena from the get-go because she came in, and used her unearned "position" to be really mean to Anne - when Anne was really just trying to do her job. Maybe that's why I always had a soft spot for Theresa - she and Anne were actually friends - and didn't sell each other out for some man.
  15. This is PURE speculation. But do we really think Gabi didn't do any snooping last night? I'm hoping Eli and Lani open the envelope and it's random photos of Gabi's pillows. Yes, Abigail wasn't even crazy she was "vulnerable." Please go, but why doesn't Chad just ask Stefan to give him an island and cash? Then no one would ever have to hear from them again.
  16. Yes, let's not let Abigail even pretend she's going to accept responsibility! And did show REALLY have to bring back the Chabby "love" song/earworm? I had actually forgotten that atrocity and then, yes, they had to play it AGAIN! With additional verses!
  17. I was just going to comment about this. They are in a busy hospital but NO ONE thinks to start yelling at the top of their lungs? I get they needed the drama but the whole thing just rang really false to me. They have time for multiple fights between 3 people and then Rafe just comes in at a random moment and saves the day? No one noticed any commotion? Hope should have been on the same floor - just steps away and she not only didn't even see Jordan come in she heard nothing? I guess she was too busy with whatever the hell that was with Ted and Rafe.
  18. Yes, I liked that he was only in it for the money and didn't really even pretend to have a lot of redeeming qualities. And it was really fun that he would somehow find out everyone's secrets and call them all out for their hypocrisy. Now all he does is chase after Hope and tell her she is doing the right thing when she clearly is not. He's lost all his edge and has apparently contracted the same disease everyone else in Salem has - terminal sanctimony!
  19. Why does everyone simply let Hope come storming in and do whatever she wants? Why does NO ONE ever demand a search warrant - you know they didn't have one. And Jordan did NOT say Ben took Charlotte - she simply laid the groundwork for them to think that. At least it appears Eli is using the Salem Brain today - he seems to be starting to think that this is all a little too easy. They searched his room yesterday, he has supposedly been under constant surveillance but somehow, he managed to go out and get Ciara's phone and Charlotte's blanket - since yesterday -without anyone noticing. This story of Hope's obsession with nailing Ben is getting really old and really stupid. The sad thing is, not ONE person will blame her for not actually sending people out to look for Ciara and Charlotte (and thus, increasing any danger they may be in). The will all pat her on the back and Abe will tell her what a great job she is doing.
  20. Yes, it does appear that Claire at least has part of the Salem brain this week. She also brought up that Ciara could have just wanted to go somewhere alone to make some decisions after thinking about everything on a long plane trip back. This would have been much more intriguing/engaging if people including Hope would have started to slowly realize that something was wrong rather than having Hope go full on panic/break the law/hurl accusations crazy after Ciara was gone for only a few hours.
  21. Yes, Abigail's body count would have been the same as Ben's if they had both managed to make all their murders stick. And while Abigail wasn't shown committing murder in brutal detail she WAS shown calmly hitting several women over the head and making a very cold decision to kill them. To this day she doesn't seem to realize the horror of that. Ben at least has remorse. And yes, some part of me does indeed root for Leo and Xander. I think it's because they aren't even trying to pretend that they are good. OK ::: Cue dream sequence music::: I REALLY want Marlena to realize that her behavior in regards to Ben was way beyond the pale. Just because Hope begged and was very dramatic Marlena completely broke confidentiality. (I did enjoy it when Ben read her for filth. ) I would like it a lot if her license were actually in jeopardy because she had no good reason to do so. I would like it a LOT MORE if she would read the riot act to Hope. As in "Not only did you BEG me to break confidentiality, you SOLD ME OUT by revealing to Ben that I did it." :::End of Dream - back to sucky reality::: Not only will Marlena feel completely justified in what she did - Hope will as well. Hope really doesn't have a brain in her head anymore does she? Why would she tell Ben Marlena sold him out? This only puts him on notice and if he really WERE up to something he now knows to cover his tracks.
  22. Silly Chick2Chic - Of course no one has checked times! At this point if Hope found footage of someone mugging for the camera as they kidnapped Ciara WHILE Ben was talking to Marlena she would still ignore it. I'm not saying she should welcome Ben with open arms but this obsession is getting really old. Pretty soon she is going to come up with "evidence" that implicates Ben in every single unsolved crime in the history of Salem!
  23. Nobody on soaps ever goes to the bathroom. They spend several days in captivity and their clothes are always clean and pressed. They also wake up with perfect hair, full make-up and no morning breath. Also, immediately after giving birth they are all incredibly skinny. Sami is the only character I remember actually LOOKING like she had been through hell.
  24. Except Hope didn't know he missed meds or threatened Claire. She simply knows Ciara did not contact her and immediately went in to "Ben kidnapped Ciara." I get that you think Ben is irredeemable (I am assuming you also think Abby is irredeemable because she also killed/tried to kill people both before becoming and while mentally ill.) I just think Hope is acting like a complete idiot. The over-dramatic begging of Marlena and immediately trashing Ben's room are completely ruining her character. Yes WE know that Ciara is in danger but Hope does not. Of course she is going to worry, but would any normal parent really go so over the top simply because she had not heard from her adult daughter in a few hours? Most police forces won't even consider it until a person has been missing for at least 24 hours.
  25. The entire thing really trashed both of them. Marlena says she doesn't believe it has reached the point where Ben is a danger and then proceeds to break confidentiality about EVERYTHING! Hope didn't even have evidence that Ciara was missing/in danger (not that she usually does have any evidence of anything but that's another story.) Isn't it possible that since Ciara came home early she was not in a good place emotionally and simply went somewhere - AWAY FROM HER MOTHER - to decide what she wanted her next steps to be? This would explain the lack of contact. Seriously, she is not 10 - what young woman checks in with mommy every 20 minutes? She could have simply come strolling back in any minute for all either Hope or Marlena knew. But since neither one of them are ever wrong they would simply say they were justified (because they were worried) - to hell with what they did to Ben.
