Season 10 Spoilers, Speculation and Social Media
DaphneCat replied to Galloway Cave's topic in Sister Wives
I'm getting pergolas. Wonder how they're deciding...…. -
For all his talk about a home equity loan to finance the wedding (I could be wrong but I really believe this was an attempt at humor) I actually believe Tony is putting some thought in to their finances. Maddie who WAS going to wait on babies and finish school immediately started popping out babies- finishing school seems nothing but a distant memory. Mykelti WANTS to start popping out babies but they are waiting until they are more stable (I'm assuming financially). Maybe she sees that Meri actually succeeds at making money and has bought in to all the hype - not really thinking the whole thing through. I think she's hoping she can start making enough money to start popping out babies and be a SAHM.

I think it's money (they think that reality stars ALL make big bucks.) How many women over the years have married a man just to be supported and taken care of? And think of it this way, if you are a sister wife, you can HOPE the other wife actually wants to have sex with him and your nights are the "recovery nights." Or maybe you can convince the other wife that you are up to some nefarious purpose and SHE will make sure he won't have sex with you.

Russ and Paola: You're the Only Juan for Me
DaphneCat replied to David T. Cole's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
But, but, you'll miss the nude pregnancy photo shoot (which you know she had and you know we'll see.) -
I'm guessing the higher you go (i.e. the more suckers you sign up) the better your selection. There is a good chance many of the new people won't work out anyway (it's more work than they thought, they just aren't really in to it, etc.) so why would you waste your "good" product on them? If they can sell the crap you send them (or ideally buy even MORE to get a better selection) then you know they have what it truly takes to be a "success." Especially if you "quite" your job to sell this crap.

Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode
DaphneCat replied to CatLady's topic in Days Of Our Lives
But, but then they wouldn't have to fingerprint everyone who ever had access to an IV (including IV delivery people and janitors!) Because bags of saline are HIGHLY controlled and no random person would ever get access to them. Never once thinking that Kristen is not stupid enough to leave fingerprints, our intrepid police force will not stop. In ALL that mishmash they will somehow find ONE print that doesn't match anyone and be off on the chase. (This is a way to give Eli and Lani something to do since there are no other crimes in Salem that they need to be working on.) This is a VERY well written plot turn! -
Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode

So today we have sanctimonious Eric VOWING TO GOD that if he will only save Marlena he will stay away from his brothers' women. Blergh! Shouldn't he kinda, sorta, be doing that anyway? There are places you just don't go. -
See I was translating it as "I better make sure everyone knows I am the opposite of Janelle! SHE jumps on the fad bandwagon I'M telling you stay away from fads." FOLLOW ME - NOT JANELLE - ME, ME ME!!!!!
-
Actually - that would look pretty great! The question becomes - are those leggings really a natural fabric (albeit very thin?) If they aren't they'll NEVER compost - permanent weed killer!
-
I thought Mitch said his parents never practiced polygamy. I think he was probably just really uncomfortable with being part of the Brown Family Shit Show!
-
I think most of the people on this board (and most people in general) feel exactly the same way. We REALLY don't care what you do in private. Kody just really wants to be a martyr on the altar of polygamy. They ALL act like they are in imminent danger of arrest every time they enter the state (i.e. Robyn's weepy talking heads when Day'un went to the rally with Kody) yet do so with amazing frequency. I could be wrong, but I think the Kilts are adjustable to a small degree. Kody was asking Mitch if his was too tight - like it could be loosened. His also seemed to be a bit higher on the waist than the other men's. Mitch replied to wear it however he was comfortable. Kody could have worn it a little looser, it would have sat a little lower, and been a little longer.

Christine Brown Woolley: Nacho Sister Wife Anymore
DaphneCat replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
Ysabel doesn't look bad because regardless of what you think about it, she is ONLY wearing one print, she's young and thin, and the dress fits her properly - she's not stuffed in like a sausage (looking at you Meri.) They, of course, then have to show the leggings. In order to appear in public wearing these, I would need someone following me around making it clear I was doing this at gunpoint! -
In her talking head Christine WAS saying that polygamy should be legal - not that it should just be decriminalized. (She was going on about the fact that she will never be allowed to have a legal marriage certificate.) It's already been essentially decriminalized as most states will only use it as a charge when charging a person for other things - like marrying under age little girls and food stamp fraud. I honestly don't believe the majority of people care what others do in terms of calling any number of people husband, wife, whatever but I do think most people would have a major problem if polygamy was legal and sanctioned by the state. This is because, to avoid discrimination, the state couldn't just say it's OK for a man to marry several women - the state would have to pretty much say that ANY configuration of consenting adults can be legal. Imagine the logistical nightmare of writing legislation dealing with all possible configurations. How about the tax code? What about divorce laws? How do you go about deciding custody and visitation? Child support? Family court would become much more complicated than it already is. On a semi-related note, if you've ever watched the Lifetime show Escaping Polygamy the girls frequently mention things like uncles/half-uncles marrying their nieces. Other than being REALLY creepy I'm sort of surprised this is not also used as a way to prosecute these men. Maybe because they never acknowledge it?

Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode
DaphneCat replied to CatLady's topic in Days Of Our Lives
At first I thought this was going to be dramatic and maudlin (it took a minute before I realized the possession storyline was not being taken seriously) so I was VERY pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be so camp and fun. Loved Belle basically just sending everyone to jail to "use as a learning experience" and basically doing nothing else - except turning into "Anna with the Urn." Loved the sliding on the ashes also. I'm almost ready to forgive show for repeating the coma thing after JUST having done it because at least this was fun. More episodes in this vein please. -
I really agree with you. Most people don't realize how much better they look if clothing fits properly. My "favorite" is the leggings that always look like they are straining not to break. Even those would not be as awful if they were sized up 1 (or 4) sizes. Think how much better Aspyn would have looked with just a few alterations and no back fat muffin top.

S07.E11: Nina Says Don't Cry Over Spilt Silk
DaphneCat replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Project Runway All Stars
Since I can't imagine QVC is offering THAT much money can we assume he is really hard up for cash? Has he done any actual designing lately? -
It really would not have been so bad if it had skimmed the body rather than plastered itself to her body. Say what you will about Janelle's dress but at least it was the right size - she wasn't cramming herself in like a sausage.
-
I'm not going to comment on the print of Meri's dress, I'm simply going to point out that it would have been WAY more flattering if she had gone just one size larger. She insists on stuffing herself into too small clothes and ends up looking far worse than she should.

First thoughts on this train wreck: I was really annoyed when Christine was crying about never getting an actual marriage certificate. First they're saying they don't want the government in their business, then they're saying they want the government to bless their business. Which is it? The reason gay marriage is now allowed is because they basically are following all the rules/laws that heterosexuals do. If this country would legalize polygamy they would have to legalize ALL forms (bisexuals marrying both sexes, couples marrying couples, one person in a 3 person marriage marrying another person who is NOT choosing to marry the other two.... the possibilities are endless!!) Imagine the amount of tax dollars us boring monogamists would have to spend on courts dealing with any of these relationships unraveling. And if their marriage was legally recognized do they realize they would give up all the advantages they currently have? Christine would not have been getting those food stamps. I'm sure at least 3 of the wives are filing taxes as head of household - sorry that would be gone. Aspyn's dress was VERY poorly fitted. I get she wanted a dramatic back but she should have gone a little higher with slightly thicker straps so we wouldn't have gotten all the back fat. The hat Hannah brought Meri really didn't look like the one she tried on. Those flowers were terrible.

S07.E11: Nina Says Don't Cry Over Spilt Silk
DaphneCat replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Project Runway All Stars
It was midriff showing. Of course that's what we all wear to work right? I'm old wouldn't that be attractive? Exactly - how can he judge fashion again? -
And if you are getting an education it is more likely that you are NOT having kids when you are barely out of your teens, if not before. You've had those years to learn things about the world - NOT just the things you have time to pick up in between caring for babies.

This is not daytime, this is just ugly! -
In the article someone posted about Lulano (it could be in the other thread but I'm feeling very Janelle-y today and can't possibly use my fingers enough to look for it) it said that consultants are basically told to flaunt their wealth. This shows all the suckers down stream how GREAT Lulano is and you too can earn BIG BUCKS selling butt ugly crap so spend your life savings on inventory! This could be why Meri NEEDS the big rental - she has to impress everyone with how much money she's making. Robyn needs that big house because she's Robyn and maybe she NEEDS space for her joolry business too (and I guarantee it won't be long before she has some other relative move in to take care of her kids.)
-
Thank you for clarifying what I was trying to say. And you are right - Janelle was not saying that Savannah was really looking forward to all the outdoor activities she could do in Flagstaff - she's just hoping to get Savannah out of her room!

Season 10 Spoilers, Speculation and Social Media
DaphneCat replied to Galloway Cave's topic in Sister Wives
And what's funny about the possible net savings is that they took on the additional expense of rentals in Flagstagg, which up to just this point they have spent 100,000 on, with no building yet in site. So they could easily spend half of their net profits just paying for the rentals. They are praying the TLC gods will renew them to get more money coming in. Even if they are paying interest only loans if the houses are appreciating in value they would still have equity in them. I could be WAY wrong but I seem to think that Kody said something that gave me the impression that they had already pulled some of the equity out of those homes. There is a really good chance they netted less than that. Is it possible that the equity from these homes is how they got the $80K down payment for the plague property? Given how they all blow through money I really don't see how they could have magically come up with 80K.
