  1. Unfortunately, this is Salem. This will probably earn her a promotion - especially if Kristen gets away because Hope was off on her personal crusade. She'll be defended as the noblest mother EVER.
  2. When the serial killer has to point out - you're friend is dying, and the person responsible is still on the loose and you have time to drive to a remote cabin and "find" evidence. Especially after announcing to all and sundry - "I'm going to go find some evidence now." Nope, nothing suspicious here. And again, Rafe is the epitome of sympathy and sensibility. Do NOT make me think Rafe is not horrible show.
  3. Can Hope actually get more insufferable? She was in royal bitch mode today simply because Rafe was comforting someone who thought her mother would die! I guess because Sami is EVIL she isn't allowed to feel love and sadness like other people. And Hope, way to announce to people that you are going to "find" evidence by the end of the day. Nothing suspicious there, nope, uh-uh, move along, nothing to see here.
  4. Oh, I completely agree with you about the United States being much more appealing than Ricky (and her prime motivation for being with him.) I just think she is genuinely willing to make an honest effort to be decent about it. More like Alla (sp?) than Muhammed.
  5. Clorox Tyrannosaurus! This is genius. I'm one of those people who never wanted children - never got the appeal of babies. However, that doesn't mean I don't like certain specific children - especially when they are older. So to say that you never wanted to have children but are willing to accept another's child is not really hypocritical. Especially since she said she wanted to be a friend to Amber - NOT mother. Amber probably has a very nice mother (someone is responsible for giving her some brains and we all know it ain't Ricky) and would not appreciate someone coming in and pulling a Luis and saying "I'm your mother - you must accept me as such."
  6. This. We KNOW they won't kill off Marlena and of course they are going to give Paul hope he can walk again. I'm guessing he's going to go to the same clinic in South Africa that Theo went to if they decide to get rid of him. I'm just waiting for the BIG, DRAMATIC, moments to be done so they can go back to the day to day lives of the soap opera people - usually much more interesting. Yes, why couldn't he just say, "OK, if it's mine I'll raise it. See Ya." You KNOW if it was Sami trying to say she should follow Marlena's directive Belle would be crying and slapping.
  7. Yes, I think that's why I started to develop sympathy for Theresa. Brady was always hulking over her yelling at her about something really important like she better get her ass in gear and get Melanie a new ID card because Melanie didn't think the picture on it was cute enough. JL always played it like she was somewhat afraid he was going to snap and hit her. He always gets in someone's face and uses his size to intimidate them. What is Will supposed to do - spend the rest of his life with someone he doesn't really want to be with just so he doesn't hurt Paul's feelings?
  8. Was "Seabiscuit" Evelyn from last year? The one who thinks she has a singing career? If not, I'm lost, too. Chantel, Ceair, Seabiscuit, any of those will suffice. As to Pao - you're forgetting the hat!
  9. Couple of things about this episode. When Angela was arguing about her shirt with Michael in the hotel she mentioned that he had told her that she needed to be more covered up in Nigeria. She insisted he only told her she needed to cover her legs and wasn't really letting him get a word in edgewise. He was clearly trying to remind her of something he said. I think he told her that she needed to be more modest in general and DID mention the cleavage. She simply chose to not hear it. Otherwise, why was she at least making an attempt to cover up a little more when she went to meet mom? And the pinkish top with the lace that she wears in her THs is certainly more covered than many of her other tops. She was just pissed Michael did not want her to meet his friends wearing her "hot" outfit. Did anyone else notice when Karine was trying on the wedding dresses she was almost cradling her stomach? It seemed like a weird gesture and really caught my eye. It was like she was making sure the bump wasn't obvious.
  10. YES. I've always hated the trapped for days and the only fallout we see is the oh so picturesque smudge of dirt on one cheek. The clothes are always pristinely clean and unwrinkled. Was that actually a rip in the jacket I saw? Must say, I like that AS was willing to go there.
  11. I get it, it's a soap. But whenever someone is being forced to have sex they start passionately kissing the other person. Were we supposed to think this was angry passion? I thought hookers made it a point to not kiss on the mouth. If you're being forced aren't you supposed to have no attraction? I'm waiting for the time someone says, "Sure go ahead. I'll just lay here and check my phone."
  12. Why is it pretty much everyone in Salem who was looking for Kristen (Eve, Paul, Sami) and even a few who weren't (Doug, Julie) figured out that she was at the Salem Inn but apparently the Keystone Kops couldn't? Hope puts out an APB on Sami but isn't actively trying to find Kristen? She REALLY just wants her revenge on Sami doesn't she? Too bad Sami couldn't have hit a few more people upside the head on her way to get to Kristen. ^^This. ^^Also this.
  13. I'm not specifically quoting anybody because so many of you have made really excellent points. Everyone is on board to blame Sami almost more than Kristen. I loved Sami's line to the effect that they weren't having girls night - most people are acting like Sami and Kristen were braiding each other's hair, giving each other pedicures and giggling about boys. I like the way they are writing Sami this time around, still with the same fire, but very calm and collected. She rightly called out Hope that the only reason she was in the police station is punishment for having sex with a man who TOLD HER HE WAS BROKEN UP! Was it REALLY her responsibility to make sure she couldn't reunite them? So far she hasn't really lost it with anyone. And Belle, that horse you're on is awfully high. Are you really going to say you've never deliberately hurt people (can we say cheating, boys and girls?) It seems like the men are more inclined to cut Sami slack this time around - less of the "well that's just crazy Sami" talk from them.
  14. I just looked up the exchange rate 1,000 Nigerian Naira is equivalent to $2.78US. I don't know the price of a dress but she will probably spend much more money on imported cigarettes (since we KNOW she isn't stopping at one pack) than on a dress. She simply does not want to cover up that much.
  15. Belle was so nasty and horrible to Sami. She needed to be slapped hard today. I hated that line about John being her dad. I wished that Sami had said John was her dad first. John as always was just so understanding of Sami. There were no judgments or recriminations on his part. He just held her as she cried like a father would do. I have been wanting this type of John/Sami understanding for years. He loves Sami no matter what. I had hopes on Friday that this time they were not going to dump all over Sami's character. They had Sami acting in a heroic manner and actually speaking - telling them what happened - not just saying "You have to listen to me" but never actually saying anything. (This is a typical soap trope that makes me crazy, no one ever just says anything, along with not actually shooting someone, simply talking and talking and talking until you get the gun knocked out of your hand - general tv trope not necessarily just soap.) It was clear, even in her addled state she is saying she did not have her finger on the trigger and the gun went off when Eric bumped her. Unfortunately, they are not going to let her slap Belle for her trash - Sami will have to be the bigger person and forgive her. At least Will is firmly back in her corner and surprisingly, Rafe wasn't his usual asshole self with her.
  16. Anything short of him being a serial killer - but, just asking - how many bodies per year? And mostly strangers, right? Well, heck, let us think about it a sec before we say no.... You're right - maybe I WAS being a bit hasty. There COULD be acceptable standards.
  17. Couple things about this episode. First THANK YOU all for warning me about the snail scene. I can not watch this live (too many really bad commercials) so I was able to jump over the grossness. I also happily jump the screenshots. My stomach is immensely grateful! As to Michael calling Angela fat - in many cultures it is a sign of wealth - especially if a man has a fat wife. This shows that he can provide for her. My husband (British ex-pat) grew up in Jamaica and many years ago thought it was very funny when the woman who had been the household help when he was growing up told me upon meeting me that I was looking fat. She was quite a bit larger than me so he said she was trying to say I looked healthy/good. OK, maybe he was lying (insulted? me?) but I chose to believe him :) Angela was within the range of sizes for a Nigerian woman - I'm sure they would have had a dress that fit her. She really just didn't want to cover up that much. As to the reaction to the purse - I really think that's a cultural thing - the mother was NOT trying to be ungracious, she was simply stating what would suit her needs better - i.e. a larger purse. Hazel's family doesn't really care that Tarik has no religion. They will accept anything short of him being a serial killer - she has already stated that once she gets to America they will all have a better life - so nothing else really matters. She is REALLY planning on harvesting the American dollar and is using this time to make sure she can actually go through with this.
  18. You are not supposed to think about practical things - just like cells and secret rooms never have bathrooms!
  19. Finally some soapy goodness! I thought the wedding was nice but the vows dragged on too long. I appreciated the fact that not every single person in Salem felt it necessary to be there - people do have lives that don't come to a halt simply because someone is getting married. Today was what a soap should be. Dramatic announcements, heartfelt emotion (really glad that Will remembered that even though his mother did crazy things, she always loved him and he loved her), potential cheating?, and a gunshot fade out.
  20. I just want this wedding to happen so we can get to all the disasters and drama we know are coming - like Marlena insisting she wants nothing to go wrong isn't foretelling that everything will go wrong. Don't care about it in the slightest. Also what late middle aged (approaching elderly) woman has a bachelorette party - especially for her 97th (??? - I've lost track) wedding.
  21. I had the same thought - he has to put up with it because he is a man?
  22. Michael and Hazel are the same person. They just have different limits on what they are willing to do to get to America - or possibly have different ideas of what is the best strategy to achieve their goal. Michael knows that there is no way he can avoid having sex with her and still come to America. He is closing his eyes and thinking of the green card. He is probably also trying to decide if he can keep this up for the 2 years it will take to get permanent residency. Hazel knows that the best way to keep Tarik interested is to withhold sex. (Plus I think she is genuinely disappointed in his appearance.) The deadness is her trying to calculate if she can actually do this or if she needs to keep looking. I think both Michael and Hazel are desperate and both Americans are coming off terribly as BOTH of them are simply buying "love." Tarik especially - I did not realize he had only been speaking to her a couple weeks!
  23. I was thinking the same thing... and I actually think she was too, she has a weird look on her face when he was doing that. I was actually worried for the baby when she let him deal with the crying... I was thinking what if he snaps?? That’s your baby I wouldn’t trust a stranger with my baby!! No way! The way I took it was he was saying he was hoping she could keep the baby in the state she currently was, not that he thought Lucy was crying then and Rachel should quiet her. He was trying to arrange the crib - something he did not know how to do - and was hoping to do it without the added stress of a crying baby. If you have never had children voicing your hope that they don't scream is not unreasonable. He made the choice to go check on her, he was not asked. It seemed like he was stressed by the fact that he was trying to do something he had never done before and felt inadequate - not by the baby.
  24. Cereal Killer! Love this and yes, it was great. Could that be the twist - Ciara really likes Ben but stays with Tripp (because he's safe) and Ben and Claire get together and Ciara's head explodes?
  25. I'll send the Lord's prayer purse, the red bag with MAKEUP, (I'll make sure to fill it with LOTS of black eyeliner, and bright red lipstick)harsh black hair dye, lots of overpowering perfume and the mile high stilettos that you can put on after running then through the escalator. You'll do us all proud!
