  1. Omg, he really did look like CC DeVille. Good call.
  2. Sanni did not drop Alex twice. The second fall he took he slipped on his own and he even acknowledges in his book that she was paying really close attention to him and prevented a far worse fall. The first fall is also arguably more on Alex than Sanni. They switched ropes with her parents and inadvertently got a much shorter rope so she lowered him off the end by accident. However, of the two of them, he was the vastly more experienced climber, with over twenty years experience to her nine months or so. He could and should have checked the rope and made sure there was a knot in the end. This would have been a good opportunity to teach her these basic safety checks but Alex isn’t known for his devotion to safety.
  3. It’s been verified to be Rebecca via an interview.
  4. I’d also note it was sloppy form on the writers’ part to shoehorn in this love of dance which had literally never even been mentioned until The latter half of this season. It seems thrown in for conflict and it really shows.
  5. The Toby-Gavin conversation was the best scene of the show. Great acting, talented actors.
  6. Well, I don’t know. I am a mother and I’m pretty sure in that situation I would have been the Toby. I have horrible anxiety particularly about health and I would have been unable to be there for blood draws and catheters. It made me faint watching it. There’s no right response. Mothers all have different reactions to things.
  7. One of the things that irritates me most is next week when Randall and Beth have their fight next week, she won’t say all the things that need to be said about what he’s done since season one. Its spelled out so brilliantly here week after week but she won’t say it.
  8. I don’t understand why it was so important for Randall to be at Beth’s first recital. Especially after she came home and found him asleep in his work. And then she needles him about being late? Come on, man. He was a jerk for the voicemail and for his drop everything and upheave our lives for my whims attitude but they are both exhausting with their self-absorption. Why did they have kids again? It’s hilarious how the kids have less than ten seconds screen time. And adding a third kid on a whim? They make their own beds with the stress and anxiety.
  9. Hard to believe that Gavin was “Shitbreak” from American Pie.
  10. I’ve been waiting for this sadly since they announced he had a major stroke. One of my friends (also was my dog’s vet) passed away suddenly from an aneurysm/major stroke several years ago. She was 49. It shook me violently. My heart dropped when I read the news about Luke five days ago.
  11. It’s not as easy as showing them psychic takedowns. My mom would just say that it obviously wasn’t a “real” psychic but that they do exist somewhere out there. My sister saw a psychic after her daughter died suddenly and unexpectedly. It was such a shocking tragedy. If seeing the psychic made her feel better, my friends told me I shouldn’t say anything. But some of the things the psychic told her pissed me off.
  12. Oh my god yes. I was wondering if anyone else noticed how scripted they seem. Couples who are together that long don’t fire off the witty one liners as their primary method of communication. It stopped being clever long ago and now it legitimately grates.
  13. I watched The Crown over the break too and it just reinforces for me that the best TV is definitely not on primetime network channels. This show is trite and cliche compared to a production like the Crown.
  14. God, yes. It’s just a stupid cliche where the characters have to act in unbelievable ways to get to where they really wanted to go, which was the rebuilt football field. Don’t these people ever talk to one another about normal things? We don’t have to see it! Right after Kate says “you have to sell your toys” the NATURAL response would be “fine, but not these Star Wars toys, I want to pass them on and they’re worth something too.” Which she would have already known, because you have to be a real idiot in this day and age not to know. Terrible writing. This show has really gone down in quality and it really shows in this episode. I mean, the second I saw those action figures I knew where the whole storyline was going. That’s not supposed to happen.
  15. Beth should have also pointed out to Randall that during his stay at home dad year he brought another child into the family he is now brushing aside. Then he bought a building. It’s not like he just quietly and cheerfully parented. There were so many things Beth could have thrown into his self righteous face.
  16. Not to mention that Kate and Toby are having a baby boy. You’d think they’d be excited about maybe a Star Wars themed nursery with the toys as part of it. That is the reaction any of my Star Wars-loving friends would have had. But no, the show needed this plot point so everyone had to act incredibly stupid to make it happen. It’s just tired and cliche and not believable.
  17. Man, Beth doesn’t know the right things to say back. He said she was jealous because he has something that’s important to him in his life and she doesn’t which is SUCH a jerk thing to say. She should have responded that her children are the most important thing not a bunch of other random families they didn’t even know a short time ago. What a jerk thing for Randall to say. And then he shuts off the TV show they were enjoying just to give another tired speech and everyone just looks grateful? He was awful this episode.
  18. It’s taken me this long to watch the Crown and it’s among the best TV shows I’ve ever seen. Which is why I was so annoyed by the terrible Kennedy portrayal. JFK bore more of a resemblance to that Billy Bob Thornton president in Love, Actually, a movie that makes me grind my teeth for so very many reasons. Just abominable. In all the Kennedy reading I’ve done, which is quite a lot, never has there been any hint of his jealousy over her success. It’s like these writers think that because Charles was so jealous of Diana’s success, all men must be? Whatever. Don’t put that on the Kennedys, writers, that’s your royalty’s issues.
  19. The Man in the Iron Mask was built up so much and then boom, he’s dead. They really had nowhere else to go after the big reveal since historically Louis XIV lived a pretty long life and reigned a long time. They shouldn’t have even done it at all.
  20. The show really isn’t good this last season. I’m only watching to finish up the series at this point. I’ve already put the time into watching this much, may as well.
  21. Ah. So here I was about to post something about how good Beth looked for supposedly having Alzheimer’s. But I should have realized that no one will rest until someone on this show gets it. First it was Jack, then Beth, somewhere in there Randall had Parkinson’s and now Rebecca.
  22. I don’t get it. This looks like a shot for shot remake but with CGI instead of 2d animation.
  23. I really enjoyed this episode. I am pretty invested in the Vietnam backstory and also wasn’t expecting the Zoe reveal. Very good episode.
  24. For some reason, people seem to really want someone in this show to have Alzheimer’s. Ive seen it in several places around the Internet. I remember it being a theory for Jack. I’ve seen Rebecca’s name mentioned. Jack also would have been pretty young. Now Beth, a woman who clearly suffering from stress and lack of meaningful support, is having symptoms of early onset Alzheimer’s? In her late thirties? I also remember the “Randall has Parkinson’s” theory from back when he had shaking hands during a clearly acute episode of panic attack. I love theories but I guess I’m not one for jumping to heinous diseases as the first option.
  25. Yup. Still thinking Beth is “her”.
