  1. American Pharoah did the same. It’s a smart move. No one can box you in and you can set the pace.

    Tennis Thread

Go Sloane. I just like her immediately.
  3. If they can do it as well as this one was done, why not? I’d watch it. I binged Cobra Kai again with my husband this weekend and he loved loved loved it. I do wonder why Sam didn’t tell Daniel that Aisha was a Cobra Kai and it seemed like Daniel had no reaction to her being one at the tournament. Surely he wouldn’t want her staying away from her oldest childhood friend?
  4. This was so much better than anything on network TV it’s not even funny. This is what a revival should be all about. It gets it totally right. Beloved old characters integral to the storyline but introducing new characters that I actually cared about. Miguel’s story was excellent.
  5. Maybe time for a thread title change? The word goddess and Roseanne in the same sentence is not really working for me.
  6. Just saw this with my son. He’s 11 and he handled it just fine. This movie drew on some on other films. I was strongly reminded at several points of Jurassic Park, Alien, and Signs. Overall this was a very good movie. I wouldn’t call myself blown away though. Because it reminded me of so many other films, I’m not sure I’d call it totally original either.
  7. Actually, it’s What’s Opera, Doc? One of my all-time favorite cartoons ever.
  8. That was a hard Final Jeopardy. My mind was completely blank.

    Best Bios

    Added for sure. Thanks!
  10. Josh seems like Tournament of Champions material.
  11. It was Grant. An amazing book, btw.
  12. That sounds fabulous! Currently I have finished up biographies on Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci. I’ll put that one on my list!
  13. I’ve not seen or heard anything from Hamilton either but I read the Ron Chernow book. I am addicted to biographies.
  14. Love the new champ. FJ was an easy one for me. Theodosia was Burr’s beloved daughter.
  15. How in the world did none of them get Pride and Prejudice. They should have all lost for that alone.
  16. I got FJ at the last second. I’ve been to Gettysburg several times and done battlefield tours but nothing in the clue rang any bell except the year. It was the folded flag which made me say Arlington National Cemetery.
  17. Harris may really resemble Darlene physically and they are trying to make her have that Darlene-like attitude but she really has none of Darlene’s charm.
  18. Oh my god, you’re right. Seriously, they have no one involved with the show now who could catch stuff like that?
  19. For FJ, I said “it can’t be Challenger”. So jokes on me!
  20. On the show it was discovered to be a girl through amniocentesis, which would just not be wrong the way a doctor looking at an ultrasound might.
  21. To me it seemed like the old show in later years, when the characters were all becoming caricatures of themselves. It really isn’t anything like peak Roseanne, where they were much more toned down and natural.
  22. If she’s losing weight it must be very very very slowly because she looked like she’d gained to me, or maybe it was that poncho thing she was wearing in the opening scenes that did her no favors.
  23. Chernow’s book is a historical biography. It has nothing to do with musicals except that it is credited as inspiring the play Hamilton. I knew that as someone who enjoys historical biographies. I know nothing about Hamilton the play. I’ve never even heard a song. So being a theater buff has nothing to do with it. Also Grant was released in October and is much more recent. It’s not theater knowledge, it’s an author of historical biographies question. And it shouldn’t have been terribly difficult for anyone on Jeopardy. Yeah but you had the right idea. An author’s name associated with historical biographies. McCullough is a great guess.
  24. Nobody knew Ron Chernow? Everyone goes on and on about Hamilton and no one knows who wrote the book that inspired the damn thing? His book about Alexander Hamilton was incredible. Grant even more so. I have read nearly all his books and he’s a must for the history buff.
  25. I wonder if Toby was sick physically or perhaps mentally? His parents talk with him seemed to a foreshadowing of major depression issues.
