Yeah, I was a bit underwhelmed by the movie as well. Your thoughts really spelled out possible reasons why. I didn’t think what happened was that surprising.

Poor Priscilla appeared to be having a panic attack or a nervous breakdown of some sort. I felt very badly for her.

Really? I wonder if he didn’t like Louisville for some reason? They need a season two.

This was excellent. I binged it in a day. I don’t have any sort of cheerleading background so parts of it really weirded me out (the way those young girls in the cheer club were acting in episode one...using words like “cheerlebrity” unironically). But you ended up really caring for everyone. They did an amazing job with stories of the five kids. I was utterly hooked. I tried to diplomatically assume that maybe Gabi’s parents got a bad edit or something but it’s hard to deny that they were the only ones (except that crazy history of Texas teacher but she was barely in it) who really came out earning a side eye. I could not stand the humblebragging the mom did from the second she opened her mouth. And the dad wasn’t any better.

James seemed to kind of give up once he realized he couldn’t win in the last game. He seemed tired overall. I got Walter Isaacson because I’ve read every biography named in the question. I got the first final jeopardy and half of the second. Alfonso Cuaron is my favorite director.
-
When James gets going he is just unbelievable. And Ken is astounding as well. Poor Brad. He’s been badly outplayed for two straight days.
-
I had never really seen Brad in a tournament and I missed his first run so I was really eager to see the guy who has never been beaten by a human. He did not impress. Just one of those nights for him, I guess.

The before during and after and triple rhyme time. They were SO FAST on those.

Commercials That Got Us Misty, Choked Us Up Or Made Us Cry
Conotocarious replied to peacheslatour's topic in Commercials
Good god, this commercial. I cry EVERY TIME. The Up music. Jesus, I can’t even think about it without waterworks starting. -
A show about a steadfast, hard worker sounds pretty boring to me. Especially when she insists on stoicism at all costs. That’s just not terribly interesting to watch. But the antics of the other Royals are much more generally entertaining.

My aunt had a couple mini strokes around rebeccas age but all they did was accelerate dementia. So if it’s mini strokes, there’s not much difference.
-
I felt like I didn’t know the answers to a lot of these questions.
-
Welp, I’m out. I always said if this show introduced an Alzheimer/dementia storyline I was gone. This show is too unrelentingly depressing as it is. I just attended the funeral of my old best friend in elementary schooll last weekend. Breast cancer, she was 46. Two years ago I attended the funeral of my 7 year old niece, who died of an asthma attack. I don’t even know why I was watching a show like this in the first place, to be honest. And now I’m not.

The writers may have had a totally different arc for Kate that had to be modified because the actress was just not successful at losing weight. That was a gamble to begin with.
-
Yeah, I don’t know. He might not even be aware that’s what he’s doing yet. So at the very end when Tess was looking in the mirror she didn’t exactly look happy. Then she tried on a hat. Are we supposed to think she actually doesn’t like her new haircut?
-
I kept thinking there was also probably a darker reason for Toby’s weight loss and exercise. He probably is scared that especially since Kate’s health isn’t improving and she’s back to overeating that if he doesn’t put his health as a priority, baby Jack could end up with no parents at a young age.

For anyone wishing Drew to retire, on the ANW podcast he makes it absolutely certain he is not. -
S11.E15: Las Vegas National Finals Night 3

What happens if you win? Are you allowed to compete the next year or do you have to wait a certain number of shows before returning? -
But you don’t need to complete the course to get the money, do you? And the safety pass either. You only need to be a top finisher. So if the course is hard and everyone falls, you still are likely to end up in the same position as if it were easier...because if it were easier a whole lot of people would be completing it. As far as I can see, the only thing you could be robbed of is getting the “first woman to complete a city finals course” title.
-
I guess I don’t get the big deal. No one gets any money for beating a City Final. It’s not like if you don’t finish the course you can’t go to Vegas. It sucks for the competitors but they’ll still all end up in Vegas where they will be running the same course and have the same chance at the money.
-
Why them and not Jesse Graff?
-
There’s also an Instagram account of someone (not sure if he was a tester or not) who completed the course. I went to look for it but he took it down to re-edit it. His account is @adam-lats.

In the link posted above the dude clears the 8th obstacle. He ran the whole course. He fell on the 9th.
