  1. I didn't stay to the very end - what happened? My neice and I were almost alone in the auditorium. About 6 others were there - but it was a Saturday matinee.
  2. Timm himself stated that Terry's little brother, Matt was also Bruce's biological son. In fact, at one point it was discussed that he'd be a robin of sorts to Terry.
  3. I was actually OK with this, since Piper was a trained chef, it would make sense for her character to be the most skilled at potions. She's have that intuition of knowing the right balance to mix them and a feeling for improving them. In fact, it would have made sense for each sisters' innate talent be something related to their craft. One could be better at spells/spell casting, one at potions, etc. . In fact, The Charmed Ones should have been the trailblazers for the new world of magic - the game changers. They are firstly the most powerful witches ever known. They should be doing things other witches (or other magical beings) couldn't accomplish or were afraid to try. To have a magic school (which I hated as it was depicted in universe), the sisters should have been the ones to create it - and not make it look like a Harry Potter ripoff. They could have had more informal teachings at The Manor. If a sequel series had gone forward (or perhaps a Charmed novel set in the future), I would like to theorize the The Warren line ended with the coming of the Charmed Ones; afterwards, a new line, (The Halliwell Line) would have begun. The entire process would begin anew with the offspring becoming stronger and skilled until the next prophecy is revealed. This was what I was hoping for as well. At the time, some fans theorized that Wyatt was in fact Phoebe's evil baby that found another womb to hide in. When the show made it clear Wyatt was meant to be, I just accepted it and fanwanked that perhaps after the Charmed prophecy was fufilled, magical daughters didn't have to keep being born.
  4. After having seen the film last night, I must admit I liked the film better than I thought. I went with my 20 year old niece (who'd seen the original years ago but it was a rather muddled memory). She didn't get the nods to the original movie which were sprinkled throughout - including the appearance of the original cast. I agree with earlier posts that the villian's motivation made no sense. I would have preferred he either got in too deep with his scientific pursuits or had good intentions (to communicate with or raise the dead) and realize the consequences. Besides, why would he think the other ghosts would listen to him or let him lead them into an apocalypse? The white hair on the girls after the portal rescue? Dumb and unnecessary. I did appreciate the rescue itself since it fit into the characters' relationship. The receptionist played by Chris Hemsworth annoyed me - since getting a person that can actually answer phones isn't all that difficult. It was also embarrassing watching Kristin Wig's character lust after him. Is it supposed to be some gender flipped version of seeing guys lust after a co-worker with whom they have no shot at? If yes, mondo fail !! Overall, I take it as an "alt universe" Ghostbusters, in which another group of scientists did the same thing the original group did - just 30 years later. I still prefer the original film however.
  5. Have you tried raw milk and raw cheese? I've heard many people who were "lactose intolerant" able to digest raw dairy. This is a good place to find info. This is a good place to find it in your area. I love raw cheese from this place.
  6. Marisol Nichols, who played Bianca (Chris' finance in "Chris Crossed" ) will be part of the new cast of the CW's "Riverdale" - the darker take on the gang from Archie Comics. She'll play Veronica Lodge's mother, Hermione. ETA: It seems Obscurus Lupa's Charmed reviews were moved from the original link. They're here now.
  7. Well, at least they dumped that deafness angle. It never made much sense anyway.
  8. I find it a bit troubling t when action toons start making a comeback on CN but they're in 15 minute episodes. Are TPTB afraid no one has the attention span for them?
  9. Apparently the film is playing in a bunch of empty theatres. Anyone experienced that this weekend?
  10. I've spoken with a fertility specialist who told me these 45+ celebs like Janet Jackson don't really have their children naturally. They're either implanted via in vitro with another woman's donor eggs or they have a surrogate. It's more about publicity for them and photo ops, not necessarily the desire for motherhood. Otherwise, I agree with your sentiment completely. Of course! Why else would a twenty or 30 something girl be interested in a man old enough to be her grandfather!! Same old story, unfortunately. I can imagine these twits probably also dream about bragging rights.
  11. Seriously, how much time do they think he has to spend with the kids? I imagine maybe a decade at most - and I'm not sure either Jagger or Wood would be kicking the old soccer ball around with them either in their 80s.
  12. BookWoman56, you're not the first person universities have messed with. I decided to go back to my alma mater for a 2nd bachelor's degree. I was doing quite well getting a 3.5 GPA on the classes I was eligible to take. When I wanted to take upper level classes (which required a 3.0 or better average). I was denied! They told me my overall average from my first college stint was what they based the decision on (2.8 GPA more than a decade earlier) and I should take a bunch of easy A classes to boost it so I could go on. I appealed to the dean but was denied. I told them to go to Hell and never looked back. I've taken classes at community college and other places but I don't see the point in traditional college anymore. Perhaps your daughter might consider college online. They're legit and much cheaper (no campus or tenured professors to support) and you can work at your own pace. WGU, Liberty University, and others might be what your daughter needs. Lots of homeschooled kids have continued their education this way too - especially if they breezed through earlier work, but were too young to go away to a traditional campus. Friends of my sister, who obtained degrees through WGU have raved about it. So much so, I'm looking to pursue a Masters there! My main caveat is don't leave your real phone number with Liberty University - they kept calling and harassing me until I finally told them I decided not to go!!
  13. You had every right to turn that man away! Who do people think they have a right to go traipsing onto private property to play a freaking game??!!!! I think it's even more pathetic (not to mention disturbing) that these idiots insulted you online like that! Klassy!! I have also heard from someone who said Pokemon hunters came to their residential marina (all private property) and even boarded private houseboats!! The nerve! This Pokemon thing really has come on strong lately. I even found a song written about it! Please somebody make it stop!!
  14. The first season of Lost In Space was actually not campy but meant to be a serious adventure. It was due to the campiness of Star Trek that had the LIS show runners camping it up with rebellious vegetables and invisible kittens.
  15. "Lady Jane" - The Monkees "Stuck on You" - Lionel Richie "Stuck on You" - Elvis
  16. My dad used to work in construction in the 60s and also did a lot of demo/remodeling work on the side. He found it funny how people wanted subway tile again in the bathrooms and kitchens - since 50+ years ago, people couldn't get it out of their homes fast enough to make room for laminate and linoleum!! He was definitely a fan of subway tile and thought the people who wanted it ripped out (especially hexagon shaped tiles used in bathrooms) were clueless. True. As they say, there's two kinds of concrete: one that's cracked and one that hasn't cracked yet. Although it can look great in loft spaces and can be easy to clean. I've seen the floors stained various colors to make them look warmer.
  17. Just saw "Marty" (1955) and felt a "Hell Yeah" moment towards the end as Marty is hanging with his single friends. They make fun of him for liking a "plain" schoolteacher, rather than the hot dates they're always on the prowl for. Marty goes out on a date with the teacher and they seem to really like each other, so he promises he'll call her later to make plans for another date. The guys chide him so he doesn't call when he says he does (there's a sad moment as the girl is stuck at home with her parents watching Ed Sullivan with tears in her eyes). After hanging with his dateless friends who can't get motivated to do anything ("What do you want to do? I don't know, what do you want to do?"), Marty realizes he's got a good thing and gives his friends a round about how he liked this girl, will keep dating her and if she'll have him, he'll get on his knees and propose to that girl. It was great seeing the character break away from his friends' expectations and decide he doesn't want to wait around for a fantasy- but a nice girl who enjoys his company.
  18. I think the idea was that Joe would be able to freely live his life without the hangups that came with his old one or the mistake of dying too soon. Not my favorite ending, but I understood it.
  19. I agree although it reminded me of the 30s screwball comedies in which a person is mistaken for someone's fiancee or something.
  20. Been stuck on The Monkees newest single, "You Bring The Summer". Loving it!! The video (co-created by Jonathan Nesmith - Mike's son) is a love letter to Monkees fans! Half the fun is spotting the easter eggs planted throughout ! The song on its own is also a great respite from the usual Top 40. Why don't we have more quality power pop on the radio these days?
  21. To be fair, Alice was a live-in housekeeper so she had fewer expenses than most (rent, car payments, etc.) so she could have had a nest egg. Plus, confidence men like Mark will take what they can get from whomever is willing to give it to them. He was willing to be a bigamist to get his hands on his wives' assets.
  22. I was on it years ago and all my matches were at least 800 miles away from where I lived. None of them were interested in meeting me. I try not to take these things personally, but if you want a potential good match, why not at least send a note rather than lock out all communication?
  23. I think it has to do with two things: the length of the war since it covered a large portion of Sam's lifetime and affected so many other people in one way or another, and that Sam's brother was in 'Nam. In the original timeline It doesn't bode well when a show breaks its own rules without a good reason. Reaching for additional storylines isn't one of them. It also bugged me when Sam became a chimp in the space program! IIRC there was an article during the show's original run in which the writers were working on storylines in which Sam would leap into a baby and a dog! Yikes!! Was Donald Bellisario still running the show at that point? I was intrigued by one suggested storyline in which Sam would leap into Thomas Magnum however. The show was likable (and I attribute that in part to the chemistry between Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell) but I agree it doesn't hold up well, but it is typical of shows from that era.
  24. I've only seen the first three episodes and it's not bad. It's been forever since I'd seen the 80s series and the recent "Voltron Force" for all its imperfections was clearer in my memory. I preferred the latter's animation style but I can understand why this reboot was done in a more anime style, and having some of the creative team members behind ATLA helps. I think the space mice were silly - then again, I always thought that going back to the original series. I was shocked Allura was asleep for 10 thousand years, or that Zarkon had been conquering the universe during all that time. I would have thought one thousand years would have been a better period of time. After 10 thousand years of conquering various civilizations would make the Galran Empire unstoppable, one would think. The puke jokes with Hunk got old really fast. I hope they move past this soon. Love the voice work here; Finn The Human is Lance, Avatar Wan is Keith, and Spectacular Spiderman is Shiro! I was surprised Princess Allura was made to look more alien than past incarnations (loved the ear shape crack against Lance!), but I respect it. I wasn't crazy about Coran being made to act goofier than past incarnations. Why was Keith so obsessed with getting Shiro back to the point of risking his place in the academy for him? At least we have a reason why Pidge was invested in his quest for his dad and brother.
