  1. Finally, someone competent on this show! I can't even express how much I love how efficient GWORE is. He is by far my favorite character on this show, although the negative part is that it just shows how incompetent everyone else is. I liked his sense of humor, too. And I thought I was a coffee drinker! Was that scene with GWORE and Elena supposed to have any kind of tension? Who could think there was even the smallest chance that GWORE would nail (ha ha,) Elena. I thought that draped bassinet was extremely creepy, and made me think of Hemlock Grove. Isn't it time to start killing off characters?
  2. Props to the casting/make-up folks. Sonny looked just like a younger version of Butch (who was totally adorable), and Paul Reubens really looks like Penguin. I was glad to see that RLT had something to do, besides screaming, although I hope he gets back to his old self soon.
  3. Reviewer Philip: That was a great review - you said (much more amusingly) the stuff I was muttering to myself as I watched it. I also was especially irritated by Mark, and remember thinking it is too bad he's the richest, best known investor so he'll never be asked to leave the show. I assume the point of the vending guys wasn't really the vending aspect of it, but the data mining. At first I thought they had some kind of drone delivery system, because nothing I want to buy from a vending machine will fit (although I guess their vending machine partner will address that). Or maybe it's for condoms?
  4. I really try not to disparage contestants who don't come up with answers that seem obvious to me, since everybody knows different things, and it's easy to come up with answers sitting at home, rather than dealing with the pressure of being on national tv. That said, the fact that the non-Phillip make (sorry, don't remember his name) couldn't associate the Marquis de Sade with an "infamous" work was ridiculous. I know very little about the French Revolution, and nothing at all about Bastille prisoners, but I got it instantly, because of that one word. I understand that many of Voltaire's works were controversial and banned, but "infamous" to me is something entirely different.
  5. Well, it's the end of the show (leaving aside the books, of course), so no reason not to. p.a. How do you get the name of the quoted poster?
  6. I agree, way too much talking. I watch this show because I am a Laura V./sci fi fan (and the male nudity doesn't hurt), but I had to FF through the whole family/Sasha thing - who cares? Maybe this would have been relevant in season 1 or 2, but not not now. When are we ever going to get to the end game - where Elena becomes Queen of the werewolves, sitting on her blood soaked throne?
  7. I liked this week's episode much more than I thought I would. I was supportive of Apple, but now I understand why. That humorless Swiss guy, talking about the therapeutic benefits of laughter, was great. My major problem with the show is that I wish they could recommend some action that regular people like me could take to address some of the problems they talk about, Or, maybe, there just isn't anything to be done besides the obvious - become obscenely rich and buy some politicians.
  8. I very much liked this, but not as much as Season 1. The actual plot was kind of boring (I am not interested in Vegas mob stuff), but for me, the biggest problem there was WAY WAY WAY too much Eleanor and Maddie. Speaking of Maddie - I was so irritated in episode 10 - a girl, who looked like she was at least 8-10, comes up to Maddie - a perfect stranger - in the playground and asks her to push her on the swings. I realize they couldn't have a 5 yo do it, but still. And then - Maddie requests (and gets) a "group hug" "Maddie sandwich" in public - ugh. Yeah, I get that there was a profound message about childhood/family ties, but really? On the other hand, no show with Brent Sexton, Matthew Lilliard and Amy Aquino can ever be bad. I found myself mesmerized by Chief Irving - for some reason, I could stare at him for an hour and not get bored. I actually watched all of this within a few days, but for some reason I am totally blanking out on who Jeri Ryan was supposed to have stabbed with scissors.
  9. Weird episode. I wasn't excited about any of it, and I am a pretty regular purchaser of Shark Tank stuff (in fact, my Lumino is sitting right here, getting its battery recharged). I thought the beer guy was absolutely right - once you outsource it, is it still a craft beer? Or, perhaps I am naive. The potty guys - that really showed the value of a good sense of humor. I'm glad they got a deal. I actually can see illuminated bowls becoming common (or, maybe they are now available, I just don't know). It sounds like a pretty flexible market, from potty training to novelties. Also - could it benefit the elderly? The update on that cowboy - ugh, what an awful concept. His gym looked so junky, I wouldn't go to someplace like that in a million years. On the other hand, I'm not from or living in Texas, so I guess I'm not his target market. I didn't get the Beloved clothes thing at all - they sell clothes with designs? Who doesn't? I thought they were hideous, although the guy with the beard was kind of cute. As the guy said, though, wouldn't any clothing line with a range of sizes necessarily have a lot of SKUs? I wasn't impressed with the pet stuff, either, although it was a smart move to bring the live animals (especially since at least one of the cats was trained in mind control). The cat connection didn't seems all that much fun, except for the part where other toys were triggered. Was that dog house really designed to be used out of doors? It didn't look very sturdy (or comfortable).
  10. OttoDbusdriver: Thanks for the recap.
  11. Wow, the only way I could watch that Cathy/Frank convo was to assume that she was playing him, that she couldn't POSSIBLY be as credulous as she seemed. It seems obvious to me that anyone so out of touch with reality couldn't possibly function at a cabinet level position. Did she really think Claire's role at Brandenburg wouldn't come out? I hope she's at least starting to remind people of Claire's disastrous ambassadorship. I liked the Frank/Conway interaction - I really hope Frank has finally met his match. I'm not just saying that as a huge Joel K. fan, but my major complaint has been that there has been no effective anti-Frank/Claire action AT ALL. Yes, I know they are uber-manipulators with the vast power of the presidency but watching them steamroller over all opposition is just boring. The only 5th season I want to see is Frank's impeachment, and imprisonment. I absolutely refuse to believe that Doug is feeling any qualms about bumpiing Frank to the top of the transplant list, no matter how worthy the sacrificial victim was. He's committed murder for Frank, and ruined people's lives, so this is ridiculous. I hope Mr. Fausto (the editor, sorry can't remember his name) is coming up with something SOON.
  12. Nothing bad better happen to Fausto!
  13. Is there anybody the Underwoods can't buy off? I have to say, I would totally vote for Conway, Joel K. is a long drink of heaven (or however he described himself on the Killing). I don't see the value of the ex-general as Conway's running mate. Sure, he can hit Frank on his lack of military service, and his weakness against ISO, but all Frank really has to do is order a few bombing runs or come up with a carefully timed foreign policy (whichl will also benefit Cathy, although I assume she is a placeholder for Claire as the VP) as a "November surprise." I'm really tired of the Underwoods constant, successful manipulations. I thought there was some dramatic possibility in Doug imploding, but I guess now that Frank is back to his old self, that just isn't going to happen.
  14. Jackie/Remy - I seem to remember that she is married. Even if not, it's still (1) extramarital; (2) interracial; and (3) lobbyist/politician, so possible corruption.
  15. I deliberately avoided spoilers so I could post freely, but damn - when are the good guys ever going to get a break? I've been waiting since after Season 1 for at least something to derail Frank and co., but it doesn't seem like it's ever going to happen. This episode was ok, mainly because both Remy and Raymond were back. I have to give the show's production major props because it looked like Frank's eyes were seriously yellow, a good attention to detail. Speaking of Frank: (1) I don't see the point of his flashbacks, except to give him something to do; and (2) that's the hospital VIP suite? My main takeaway - what a thoroughly decent guy Vice-President Blythe is, so I'm sure he will be destroyed sooner rather than later.
  16. Wow, poor Lucas. And to think all of this could have been avoided had Frank been appointed as Sec. of Education as he had been promised. Yeah, I thought this episode was much more compelling than the first three. I really like LeAnn.
  17. That was an interesting episode. While the contestants were working, I thought all of their creations (except Walter's) were really good. But when they showed the finished products, the only ones I liked were Yvonne, Rob and Mel's. I agree that Anna and Robert's were awful (although Robert's seemed technically ok), but Walter's was just as bad, if not worse. I had to laugh when the judges were talking about Anna's creature, and said that the black/white palette was the only successful element, because, to me, it was one of the worst parts. I have to say that one of the things I like most about this show is how helpful the contestants are to each other, and the total lack of family drama. Another thing i realy like is how expert the judges are.
  18. I thought it was great that they used Dale's RV. Nice callback, but a mention would have been nice. Note: Not saying it actually was the same one.
  19. He comes off as such a nice (although inefffectual) guy on ST. Anyway, best wishes to both of them. I assume their wedding dance will be a killer.
  20. I must have dozed off while watching this, because I don't remember the sheriff at all. I agree, way too much family drama, although I guess that's the theme.
  21. me too! I really disliked the woman (Suzy) on the end, not just for her answers but her behavior and the way she had such a death grip on the signalling device. I think she got a bum rap on several answers, which might have been correct but she pronounced with a strong midwest (I assume) accent. I liked both of the other two, though, and I'm glad they won. I was surprised the guy didn't get "hydoponics," though, I thought that was pretty well-known.
  22. Thanks for the ear-thing explanations. I guess I shouldn't be too upset that my 26-yo son got a discreet tattoo, given possible alternatives.
