  1. I really enjoyed this episode. It had Frank and Charlie working together, some Liza, an interesting story element relating to Charlie. The two things that really surprised me - first, that Frank had sabotaged the test, and second, that Crosley was playing the other British guy. I was glad to see the reference to Sid, that the repercussions of that entire incident were still being explicitly acknowledged. I was trying to think of the second spy, too, although I didn't really pay attention at first (I thought it referred to Meeks). Of course, the woman spy (have no idea of her name) could have been lying - there may not be a second spy, and the notes really did refer to him. All I can remember - not as intelligent as he thinks he is, susceptible to flattery,
  2. Wow, maybe I need a break from watching this. I couldn't believe how dumbed down the questions were, especially FJ. I don't mean this as a criticism of the players, because they did get most of them. On the other hand, this is the second day in a row where everyone of the contestants were just so low energy. I'd even be grateful for someone irritating, just to liven things up.
  3. I respectfully disagree. Yes, it was a slow game with lots of clues left, but i don't feel that was because if Alex talking too much - every one of the contestants was incredibly slow, both n speech and picking categories. Pleasant enough contestants, not impressive game at all.
  4. I liked the doctor, and thought his behavior was absolutely realistic for a surgeon. I would love it if he'd be a regular on the show, in a weird way I think he'd be good for Helen, and the kids. That party went on way too long. I was so bored (watching in real time, couldn't FF), I actually started reading a book. Thank goodness I looked up in time for the Whitney appearance. I knew there was something that would happen to make Noah run out into the storm. Much as I like Louisa (and her straight-talking), her story WAS NOT FUNNY. But - wasn't there mention in an earlier episode that Cole was also remarried with a child?
  5. wow, if this show has any pretensions to reality, then I should be running the CIA. I liked the episode a lot, but there were so many things that drove me crazy, such as : (1) it was COMPLETELY foreseeable that Allison would flip the story - that's a tactic that is so cliche that Saul/Carrie/Dar/the BND should have been prepared: (2) where was Allison's burner phone? Did she really do all her treasonous activities on her CIA-issued smartphone? (3) How could Saul assume that Allison only has 1 handbag? (4) Shouldn't Allison, this experienced intelligence officer, have known that OF COURSE her material would be sanitized before being provided to the Moscow folks? I could go on, but I might as well just give up. I have to admit, I really like the (kind of rare) parts of the show that have folks (especially Carrier) being competent, which is why I liked Quinn so much. Speaking of Quinn, when he is ever going to get a break? He is awesome, and doesn't deserve to exist solely as an object of abuse.
  6. I was just given a Lumino (the light that opens like a book) as a gift. I had put it on my wish list, then forgot about it because there are much more practical alternatives at less cost. I have to say, thought, I LOVE IT. We all sat here taking turns opening and closing it. It is just a beautiful, well-designed piece.
  7. Seriously. Fritz is the most decent character on the show - and in this episode, Jeannie was pretty close behind. As soon as we saw her being nice, though, I figured she was DOA. Can't they ever tie Frank into a major story line? He (both the actor and the character) is wasted here. Give him Abby's show time. I did like Charlie, though. I had to laugh at Liza's "assistants" - talk about don't give a f*, they were truly "grunts."
  8. Much as Laura's manner of speech grates on me, I liked (and identified with) her definition of an exciting vacation as "watching tv in a different time zone."
  9. I thought that was an interesting episode. I really laughed at the bubble soccer, but that guy was too slick for his own good. I was mesmerized by his shiny suit. Gee, it's too bad when you're not as smart as you think you are. Those Brazi-bites looked delicious. As soon as I saw them, I paused the show to see if I could buy them. I guess either they don't sell on-line, or their website crashed. I would have thought they would have have had a robust retail site ready to go. It was funny how they wouldn't take Kevin's offer, even with his much lower equity component. I can see why they picked Laurie, but it seems to me that Bantam Bagels is doing well despite, not because of, her. The t-shirt brothers - I really liked them as people, but I wondered why didn't show more designs. Both the elephant and the bicycle were cute, but what else? The skull? Perhaps you get what you pay for. At some point, they are going to have to somehow pay thier child labor-designers more than a backpack. I agree about buying for a cause - I'm not a millennial, but I do that, also. I pay a ridiculous amount for coffee beans, because of the good works the company does. That last couple - ugh. The doc seemed pleasant and grounded, but I thought that woman was one of the most annoying people I EVER saw on the show (and I've been watching for years). She just would not shut up, and let other people speak. Yea, I get that she has "passion" but the product didn't seems that good or unique enough to sell on its own. I sure would like to know the story (if there is one) behind Damon's (literally) last-minute offer. I also wasn't a fan of her pulling out her aneurysm story. Please, show, no more personal tragedies or crises.
  10. Great game. Thank heavens they didn't dumb it down. I have to admit that I didn't get FJ, although in retrospect it seems obvious. I was really surprised it was such a runaway for Alex J - Matt was so good in his regular games (and so quick on the buzzer), I thought it would be a tossup between him and Alex (sorry, Kerry, you didn't embarrass yourself, but I just don't think you're in the same league). I liked how gracious they all were. I was really looking forward to this; I wasn't disappointed. I think it's going to be really hard to watch "regular" Jeopardy! now.
  11. That was a great game. I liked the categories, and all three contestants were good. While I do like Matt's intensity and the fact that he claps enthusiastically for the other contestants, I'm still bothered by his rudeness in speaking over Alex T. Although, it seemed like he wasn't quite as bad tonight. Trebeck's been the host through thousands of games, and should be allowed to enjoy himself. Kerry didn't flame out, her voice didn't annoy me. I was really impressed by Alex, though, with his bold bets. I wondered if he was going to bet anything in FJ so as to increase his total, but I guess it was a good thing that he played it safe. My guess was the Man in the Iron Mask, also - the fact that two of these excellent contestants came up with that helped me get over all my other wrong answers. Can't wait for tomorrow - fingers crossed that no natural or other disaster comes up!
  12. Poor Maddie. Gee a choice between being signed by as a solo artist by Sony - a global conglomerate - or as part of a crappy duo with her younger sister at crappy Highway 65, run by her mom. I'm glad the show didn't she that liked that at all. Speaking of other things I liked: Marcus's song, Colt's refusal to accept his father's spineless behavior. Things I didn't like (a very partial list): Caleb constantly apologizing. Sorry, I do think a doctor's work is more important than a singer's. Gunnar and Erin. Deacon and "the Beverly."
  13. I have to admit, until I read the postings here, I totally liked the unshrink stuff. We all have a number of cashmere sweaters and scarves. I'm lazy , and don't like to do laundry, so I am not careful. I'd rather buy a bottle of that stuff than google "unshrink your sweater" on google and have to read through a million hits to see which one to do.
  14. Not my favorite episode, but not bad. I didn't understand what happened at the end - Liv was using a Ouija board? And Major looked upset and left? Maybe I dozed off.
  15. Shouldn't it be called "Leaving the Badlands" or "out of the Badlands," since everybody is already in the Badlands? I liked it, mainly because of Daniel Wu and the great fighting choreography. Also, my low expectations.
  16. My favorite moment: When Penguin asks Ed how many people he's killed: Ed proudly answers, "3," and Penguin tsks a bit, rolls his eyes and loses interest.
  17. I think it's important to remember that not everyone who gambles has a gambling problem (although, of course, many do). My son and his friends (all males in their mid 20s) play DFS (can't remember which one). My son has a small budgeted amount per week (basically, the cost of a movie ticket), and really does see it as entertainment. He has won small amounts, but winning money is not that important to him. He doesn't expect to make money from it, so anything he does get is just a nice bonus.
  18. man, Skorpa was one of the scariest dudes I've seen lately on tv. I can't remember from the books, but I hope he is a recurring character.
  19. I think there are a lot of same-sex couple survivors (awkward, but I hope you know what I mean) who would find Jeff's sister's behavior completely realistic.
  20. I've really hated Scarlett's hair and wished she would get it styled or cut. Tonight showed you should be careful for you wish for, because I think she over did it. Her pixie cut is hideous. Ugh, can't anyone have any fun on this show? The only part I liked: Will and Avery's lullaby. 2 men and a baby indeed.
  21. Yeah, I'm not enjoying this as much as last season. While I liked Frank being such a good soldier, were we supposed to be surprised that he was helping out technically? I don't care about Abby, there was way too much talking (using the reporter for exposition is just tired), why hasn't the scientist from site x bee given any dialogue or plot? I don't understand why the British guy is in charge (I'm not even sure in charge of what, when a show needs an organizational chart, that's not good tv). For that matter, I found it hard to believe he was so prescient about cyber warfare when he is involved in building such a game changer as the gadget. I'll keep watching, but I really hope the writers know what they're doing, because the acting is great.
  22. I really like Brennan, and the way he plays. He's calm and pleasant, and doesn't do a lot of jumping around. I can say this, because I am old(er), but I think he is a real cutie. I'm glad he won, and especially glad he won by getting FJ right (and not just be betting less).
  23. I'm really grateful that John Oliver uses the show to highlight really important issues, and I recognize that having only 30 min available necessarily means that nothing is covered in any depth, but I am somewhat tired that he really only ever presents one (necessarily simplified) side of an issue. For example, he is absolutely correct that prisoner reentry is a huge situation that really should be reexamined in a rational way, since it either directly or indirectly affects pretty much everybody (who pays taxes at least). On the other hand, there really are very good reasons for the public housing restrictions on offenders. Not every released felon turns their life around, or wants to. Ask the residents who have neighbors with relatives who resume dealing and other criminal activities (either because they're not reformed or because they can't get a job).
  24. This show is so much better without Carrie. Love the recap titles, especially "Never Adal Moment," ha ha.
  25. I read and enjoyed all the books (so far), but my memory is pretty hazy with respect to the early ones, except for broad events, so I don't remember if the "groveling" was quite as funny as it was here. I thought the whole thing, from the crowd reactions, to Uhtred's pissy face, to Alfred's nephew "repentance" were great. I'm starting to get depressed for Uhtred, nothing is going his way.
