  1. while I'm not sure if I really liked these episodes (in fact they made me wonder why I liked this show so much), I'm glad they got rid of the whole McCawley family story line. I assume Linda Hamilton has other things to do, so we won't be treated to her and the baby traveling around endlessly. I've always liked Amanda's willingness to do the hard things her job requires, but I really felt for Doc Yewell - what a gross personal invasion. I guess this a good news/bad news kind of development - the good news is that doc won't be leaving, the bad news is that she is only staying to get revenge. What were those pods at the end - the Dread Harvest? If so, why so many for only 2 Omec?
  2. Wow, the actor sure is a cutie! Nothing bad better happen to him, his partner or the beard. In fact, now that I'm acquainted with all the characters, at least to some extent, I hope nothing bad happens to any of them. They all seem sympathetic in some way, which I guess is why they were "chosen." Speaking of chosen, I was glad no Darryl H. in this episode.
  3. Ugh, I had to watch the season to the end, because that's how I am, but I thought it was quite disappointing. In the Delphi building, Jeremy was running around like a peripheral character, they bring back Cain - make him awesome and sympathetic - and then (possibly) kill him in a totally unnecessary manner*, then have Elena as the cheapest "death" ever. I admit, since I assumed (wrongly) that this was the series finale, I was hoping for more of a Romeo/Juliet scenario where Elena appears dead, Clay goes out in a blaze of glory and is really dead, and then Elena dies heroically. Best moment for me: Shirtless Clay, although I was hoping for more. Oh, darlin'. * Seriously, that's the only way 2 supernaturals can take out one human - by running straight at him after he's had time to reload? I really did like the continuity with Amber, though. While this season certainly was a huge improvement over the first one (and I'm really glad they cut the number of episodes), and I am probably Laura V.'s biggest fan, I'm not sure if I can bring myself to keep watching. Oh, who am I kidding, of course I will, but I'm not sure how much I'll enjoy it.
  4. I thought it was ok, especially because of my fond feelings for Eureka and WH13. I thought they presented the exposition pretty competently; at least, I had no problem figuring out what was going on. The only thing I didn't really like was how Kirsten really is such a special snowflake - not only very good-looking, super smart etc. but RIGHT ALL THE TIME. That might get old pretty quickly. I also didn't get the point of the bed/apartment thing. Undressing and dressing her, transporting her across town seemed like way too much trouble, when I'm sure all those brainiacs could have come out with something easier like a recovery room, or even just a place to relax at their lair. I'm sure they work late hours and may need a place to crash. I also disagreed with the SAllie R. character - I think Kristen is exactly the person to sleep with a horny TA in order to have a place to crash, since she would have no emotional committment or feelings of shame or embarrassment.
  5. First time I've seen the show, but I liked it very much. I thought he made good points about the various topics, in a very entertaining way. I'm a casual sports fan, but there's been so much coverage of the FIFA thing even I was aware of most of what he presented about it, but I still liked how he did it. I'm know I'm pretty superficial (autocorrected to "spermicidal," ha ha) but the Fifi/Fifa just made me laugh. Rip Torn (I didn't even know he exists) was pretty funny, even apart from the Hitler thing.
  6. It seems to me that this show is simply a huge FU from ABC to its audience. I absolutely cannot understand the awful decision-making that went into this - from the shrill host, the constant repetition of simple rules, the multiple asking of why the "genius" chose to lead or follow, the useless challengers . . . I could go on, but that would be spending more time on this than it's worth. There were only two things I liked - the huge number of categories, and the fact that the last 2 challengers didn't even pretend to be interested in the questions. I really hope there's not going to be another series, because in my mind, this show has 3 wrongs and therefore MUST BE GONE.
  7. I really liked all 3 contestants (Dan, Ivan and Adrian) tonight - not very dynamic, perhaps, but pleasant and knowledgeable. While I was sorry to see my favorite, Ivan, flame out, Dan deserved the win.
  8. I'm completely confused by the scheduling of this show. I thought new episodes were on Mondays, but it seems like last night was new. Much as I like trivia (or, as I prefer to call it, "knowledge") shows, the pacing and host here are a total turnoff for me. Yet, once started, I have to finish it. Darn that OCD!
  9. I've watched several episodes so far, and while I like the format and the questions, there is WAY to much talking and repetition of the rules. The next time Mr. Quest asks the contestant if he understands, Steve should just say, of course, I'm a genius, as obnoxiously as possible. At this rate, I don't see how anyone(even the current champ) can even get close to answering 500 questions.
  10. He seems totally charmless to me. I guess I'm one of those people who love British (and other, non NYC) accents, but this guy just yammers on, without an ounce of wit or erudition. I'll take Alex Trebeck or Pat Sajak over him any day.
  11. At first I thought the final scene was intended to motivate Theon to take action, since probably nothing less would be emotionally strong enough for him to overcome the Reek conditioning. Or, setting the stage for Sansa to be rescued by Brienne and Pod. I was appalled at the thought that Sansa's abuse was to advance the story line like that. But now I'm thinking that the rape wasn't to motivate Theon, but Sansa herself into taking action sooner, rather than later. LF may be in for quite a surprise.
  12. Ha ha, I completely forgot that. I assume they would have to throw the product out, due to the hygiene violation.
  13. I felt somewhat bad for the motorcycle guy - the perfect shark for him would have been Robert.
  14. That was a weird episode. The ChordBuddy segment was FAR too long - it was only interesting when Robert was there. Travis seems like a lovely man, but did he really not understand that those 2 politicians were only supporting a pilot program? I had to FF through most of it, I really had enough of him and his family and his employees. I don't understand why Barbara was so sold on the bikini guy - he seems like the classic guy who's always starting failing businesses. FInally, I think the bagel folks made a huge mistake changing the name. I don't know what kind of editing was involved, but "bantam" is well-known as a word meaning small (Not just chickens, but weight classes etc.) To me, the selling point is that they are small. Calling them "Bagel Stuffins'" doesn't convey that at all, and makes me think of something you use to stuff bagels, not that they are stuffed bagels.I don't understand why they couldn't continue to call them Bantam Bagels, with a line underneath saying "mini stuffed bagels," which I think is what they do. The naming problem I see isn't the "Bantam," it's the "bagels," which I think might limit them if they want to expand into non-bagels.
  15. Wow, I am obviously less evolved than others here. I am the first to admit that I often fail to see nuances, probably because of age/insensitivity/general cluelessness, but I saw nothing wrong with that remark. It's obviously true - he (like most people) has been told what to do by mother/older female relative/teacher etc. That remark was far less objectionable to me than assumptions, for example, that women don't know anything about sports.
  16. ottoDbusdriver: Thanks for the recap. For some reason, during the last few weeks I can barely bring myself to watch this show. I don't really understand it, since I am a fan of (1) Syfy generally; (2) Kelly Armstrong books specifically; and (3) Laura Vandervort, who (whom? ) I have loved (in a nonsexual way) since V. I think she is not only a beautiful woman, but a good actress. This witch plot is just too much trouble for me to spend much (precious) brain power on.
  17. Wow, I will NEVER order anything from Red Dress - what an obnoxious woman! And if she mentioned her father one more time, I was ready to jump. What a contrast to Ryan's mom. Barbara must be doing something right with them, because I see the Ryan's Ruffery products in a lot of stores. As the family cook, I would love to order from Plated - no shopping, no thinking, no leftover ingredients. I bet my family would appreciate the chef-designed meals.
  18. So Peter and the Essene (there's a series right there) find a complicated bomb at the dam - but it doesn't occur to them to notify the Israeli authorities, who presumably have lots of experience in handling explosive devices. While I thought the whole finale was dreadful (sorry, Jason), there were two things that really just bugged me out of all proportion - Lynne's stupid eyeglasses (even the government vision plan would spring for something a bit more stylish/comfortable, I know we're supposed to get it that she's SO SERIOUS) and her series long facial contusion - when Peter is shot in the chest and, thanks to the magic mud, is running around with no difficulty whatssoever.
  19. That's one of the things I dislike the most about her. Russ and Milt (and the other detectives) are good detectives, they don't always have to be bailed out by the Snowflake princess.
  20. You said it. I couldn't even make it through this episode -and, believe me, my standards are LOW. The flashbacks were somewhat confusing, Vera (hate the name) was so annoying, both present and flashback (yeah, throw your wine in the face of your baby daddy just because he's breaking up with you in the nicest way), the exposition fairy is one-note, and don't care about the rest. There's not one character I have any interest in, whatsoever. Sorry, CW.
  21. This, a thousand times.
  22. My DVR cut out just as they arrived at (I assume) Wolf Hall. Did anything significant happen? I liked the episode, mainly because I'm an Anton Lesser (T. More) fan, and it was fairly easy to follow.
  23. We're doomed. I've got to admit, I'll probably keep watching, even though, as Boobear noted above, the acting and writing are both uneven. On the other hand, maybe I won't. I was so annoyed by Vera's dismissive attitude, I almost stopped watching then and there. Maybe actually seeing her wings will get her to stop being so -one-note.
  24. I wonder, if the Centre at some point will order P/E to kill Paige, since she is such an obvious danger to their operations. If so, that sets up a number of possible story lines, not just for P/E, but also other characters such as Pastor Tim, Oleg, Martha and Stan. Edited to add: Obviously Philip wouldn't do it, and it might be just enough to force Elizabeth to reexamine her commitment to the Soviet Union. It could, after appropriate soul-searching and truth telling, lead to a plausible defection scenario.
  25. There was a lot I liked about this episode - the epic fight, with its humorous touches (the flying microwave was my favorite), Claire (character and actress). My problem is Deborah Ann Woll - I liked her at first on True Blood, but by the end I was SO tired of her sobby voice I muted any scene she was in. I'm getting that way here, too, so I hope she stops it STAT. I like Foggy alot, too, and I'm glad he's actually smart and competent.
