  1. I could not disagree more. Liv didn't give them any reason whatsoever why she couldn't even donate some blood for her seriously injured brother - he's been in the hospital for at least 3 months, so obviously he was close to death. I would never forgive a family member or friend who refused to help, without them giving me at least some excuse (even if not a good one). After all, its not like they were asking her to donate a kidney. While on the whole I like this show because it is funny, smart and well-written, this is another example of ridiculous, unnecessary drama arising out of a simple failure to communicate, just like the whole Major thing. I didn't really like this particular episode, but I'm just so glad to see Ravi, Clive and BLaine back I can put up with it.
  2. I watched this show originally because I was a Strikeback fan, and wanted to see Sully. The first 2 episodes kept my interest, but I think I may have reached my limit. I foujd myself obsessing over little things (why don't they get Jane a turtleneck/long sleeve shirt - we KNOW she has a lot of tatoos! Why is Kurt so casually dressed ? ), and then I realized that's becuase this show is boring and predictable. Yes, there was a lot of action and fighting, but - - so what? It had NOTHING to do with advancing the plot, except for coming up with the word "Orion," which could have been disclosed by the bearded guy before he died. This show would be a million times better if they just lightened it up a bit, especially with the Kurt (ugh! I just got it! They should just have spelled his name "Curt"). Sullivan could benefit from a bit of Damian. Jamie's a beautiful woman, but I'm sick of staring into her huge, perfectly made-up dilated eyes. I usually try to separate the bad writing from the bad acting, but these two are beyond that. I really like all the actors except for the 2 leads, who have zero chemistry.
  3. I guess I don't see Helen as a gold-digger; that seem much too purposeful for her. Sure she's used to not worrying about money, but she has no doubt her parents will take care of her and the children, just like they've always done. I think she is in shock, is allowing herself to be takena dvantage of by Max,with her mother colluding in this. Is he also her drug dealer? DId he slip her something at the dinner? I was distracted, not completely watching, so apologize in advance if I am mistaken.
  4. I totally agree! Sorry, my post should have been clearer, because I don't see Max as any sort of upgrade.
  5. While there is certainly a lot to dislike about Noah (especially the way he's treated his wife and children), I don't find him to be all that bad. Yeah, I guess I'm probably less evolved than others of you here. Anyway, I still think he is MUCH better than Max, who could not make it any clearer that he doesn't connect with Helen as a person at all, he just sees her as a prize, that he's beat Noah at last. He's just super rude (like the way he treated the concierge on the phone) and boastful (letting the employees know - as if they didn't already) that he is the new owner of the hotel. HE showed no consideration whatsoever for Helen at that dinner, treating her as an object he just acquired. I think he is totally creepy. I don't think we've ever seen Noah be so rude to servers and other workers, and he certainly is a better lover than Max. That sex was completely joyless. If I were Helen, I'd drop him immediately. But that would mean standing up to her mother, which she'll never do.
  6. I want some "I cannot tell a lie" cherry pie! And a Ben Franklin bobble-head!
  7. I was sorry that neither Ezgi nor Greg were able to derail the MAtt Juggernaut. Matt's habit of talking over Alex is just rude. As far as I'm concerned, the only thing I like about Matt (aside from the fact that he really does know a lot) is that he actually claps for other contestants on the rare occaisions when they get a DD. Sorry, but I'm just not going to watch until there is a new champ. I didn't mind watching Ken J. or my beloved Julia win night after night becuase they had personality and charm. Watching Matt just isn't fun.
  8. I really likie this show for the way it changes how I see the characters, although sometimes I feel like I'm getting whiplash. -I used to really like Rayna, now I think she is just a huge cliche (women can't run a business) becuase, as others have posted above, she really is doing an awful job of "nurturing her artists." -I used to feel dislike Jeff, now I think he is the most interesting, realistic character on the show, and I guess he is going to be the one to get Juliette back on track; - I disliked Luke originally (especially the way he proposed to Rayna), then liked the way he handled that whole mess with her, liked him in this episode when I thought he was going to stick with Will, and then disliked him when he threw Will to the curb. - Layla was totally unsympatheic in the beginning (especially that trick she pulled on Juliette, her arrogance, that reality show), then I felt she had a lot of growth, first in how she ended upon good terms with Will and her career change. Now she is the only character (except possibly Avery, who just seems to be trying to be a good husband and father) for whom I have any sympathy. I see Glenn becoming her agent, him bringing Emily back as her assistant and Avery producing her album. - I used to think the "conrad sisters" were talented. Well. they still are, but I hate listening to them, every song sounds the same. Although, I still hate Scarlett's hair. SHe is so goodlooking, but that mess is just awful. We really don't need her to be the plkaintive little unsophisticated waif anymore.
  9. IN a way, I'm sorry that was the last episode, It was somewhat redeemed for my by the wedding, but I truly hate that Phryne's father is now just a lovable scamp and all is forgiven. The science plot was just ridiculous, I'm sorry they weren't able to go out on a stronger note - with a lightheareted episode that had some fabulous costumes, and at least some mention of Jane, who could have been a good replacement for Dot.
  10. wow, i though that was awesome - talk about over the top! I have to give a shout out to the set designers/costume designers or whatever you call the people repsonsible for the look of a show. I can't think of another show that is so interesting to look at. Was there some kind of subtext with the Alfred/Lucius talk in the bar? Alfred going on and on about "tucking you up like a kipper" felt like some kind of inside joke. I will admit that I haven't really watched the Batman films, but I am generally familiar with the origin story and some of the characters.
  11. YEah, I always like Aunt Prudence. I teared up a bit at the end. One of the things I like best about this series is that the characters are usually somewhat nuanced - like in this episode, Dr. HAyden did hypnotise the women and obtain large donations, but he also was saving them from genital surgery.
  12. Wow, is Dr. MAc the worst pathologist ever? forgot to add: Shades of Richard Harrow!
  13. yeah, I've stopped watching this show, too.
  14. I thought this was an enjoyable episode, although not a lot of suspense. I especially liked the way that Dot worked out the "honor and obey" thing. She really has learned a lot from Phryne, and they work well together as a team. I'm not really a fan of Dr. MAc as ME. I know that's the most loogical way to include her in the show, but it seems liked she's lost all of her personality.
  15. I know this isn't going to happen, but I really wish they'd go back to the 5-day rule. At least that way, I knew that no matter how annoying or unlikeable a contestant might be, there would be a relatively short amount of time to ride it out.
  16. Yeah, Ashton wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought he would be. Of course, that awful GoPRo guy has really set the bar pretty high (or should it be low?) for self-promoting a-holes. I have to admit that I really liked the security cards, which were inexpensive, and already bought a few for Christmas gifts.
  17. That was dreadful, in pretty much every respect. I only watched it (there's still a few minutes to go, so I guess technically there is a slight chance that the show may become good) because I'm a Strikeback fan, and was interested in Philip Winchester's American accent. He (and it) were the only aspects of the show not to disappoint.
  18. I really thoght they were seting it up for Beverly to die. I would hope so, except that I don't think I could take a season of guilt-stricken/mopey Deacon and Scarlett. I miss Olly, too.
  19. I can't blame the actors or the writers, but it is definately time to wrap this show up. I know it's a super cash cow, but I think it's just reached the end of its life. That, or they need an infusion of a lot of new characters and situations, and I don't see that happening.
  20. I liked both Barbara and Austin - sorry neither of them won, as I am not a fan of Dylan's style of play. I thought the game was boring and unimpressive, and it totally illustrated the danger of starting out with the higher value clues and wasting the DDs.
  21. `I just saw the pilot and thought it was pretty well-done. Decent writing and acting, although I admit that I am not a fan of Jennifer Carpenter (or her stringy hair - get it cut/curled or something, please, so that your ears don't stick out).
  22. Ha ha, that's great. Among the many things that irritated me: Why does no one - like her mother, for examploe - care if Alicia lives or dies? I get that Nick's an addict, and Maddie doesn't really care for Travis or his "other" (real) family, but couldn't she at least acknowlege that she has 2 children?
  23. I tried to be sympathetic to Talia for several reasons - I'm a bit of a full-figured gal myself, I liked her voice and I would probably be even more nervous than she clearly was. But her total appearance was just so distracting that I really didn't enjoy the game as much as I would have liked. It's not a live show - couldn't they have edited her endless anecdote? I wasn't too impressed by Audrey, either, although she has managed to win twice now. At least she has no (to me) annoying mannerisms or atrtitude.
  24. I guess I must be getting smarter as I get older, because I thought that was a pretty easy game overall. I liked Audrey, and especially liked that she won, not just by getting FJ right but by betting it all.
